I had a dream a few nights ago where I transformed into my fursona. The funny thing about this dream was that I could control it completely and that made it much better:)
It's called lucid dreaming and its a dream where you can control everything. I've been able to do this for almost two years and I just thought that the members of this forum would want to hear about it.
I figured, dreams are the way I can literally become my fursona, why wouldn't anyone else want to be able to?
I'd link the site I used to learn it but the mods might get mad at me for it so I'll wait to link it
-
Many individuals have lucid dreaming. Usually it can involve what someone eats right before they sleep, or what they think about.
-
i would so wanna learn how to do that. i've never heard of it either. do you think you could PM the link to me?
-
Yeah, I've heard of it. Never done it, but there are things you can do to train your brain to do it, supposedly.

It shouldn't be a problem unless it contains "adult" material or is a forum... Ask in a PM to one of us if need be.
-
alrighty and trust me it's just fine:)
http://lucidipedia.com/ all you need to do is go to the learning section, I keep an account on there (called zombiebrain not Drakefox:) )
-
I bought a book on Lucid Dreaming, but I haven't had enough time to read through it. But as far as I know anyone can do it, but it requires some brain training and proper sleep, like with insufficient sleep it's often difficult or even impossible for some people.
-
that's true, I own a book on it. I'm a natural lucid dreamer so it seemed to come really easy for me
-
I've never been able to lucid dream. Though, on occaision, I have seen my fursona in my dreams once or twice. It seemed like more of a third person perspective...and he was my room mate. IT WAS AWFUL. ;_;
-
easily learnable spike:)
-
i have them alot but it no longer buggs me
-
I've had a few, they weren't 'lucid enough' though (As in, I could control it for a minute or two and then it just went into normal dream cycle.)
-
i seem to be able to lucid dream but it is only occasionaly, which is a bit annoying
-
Not as far as I can remember... I dont dream too often, and if I dream something, it's usually some weird very unpredicatble dream -.-
But I would rly like to get one of those lucid dreams sometime :(
-
at my highest frequency of lucid dreams I can get about 1-4 per week, sometimes 2 in one night
but I dream ALOT
-
I dream all the time... I guess I have an over-active imagination. I wish I could control it more than I can, but I'm usually more of a victim of dreaming than a puppeteer.
-
I've been lucid dreaming all my life. I thought everyone did it as it's just normal to me... o.o
If anything it's more of an event for me to not lucid dream, i've not figured out how to do that yet.
-
been lucid dreaming for months. Learned of it here and well...just kinda started happening and well...has been awesome every time ^_^
-
I've been lucid dreaming for 2 years now:) just recently used it for fur related stuff
-
never had one, most of the time i can't even remember my dreams lol. Hopfully i can train my brain to have one
-
My brain just hates me. I am not a fan of dreaming at this point in time.
-
whenever I actually do have a dream I can control what happens in it. Like I can't control how it starts or the overall plot but I can control my actions and the choices I make in me dreams. I also have this ability to tell the dream world apart from the real world, so if I don't like where the dream may be heading, like say I'm about to be horribly murdered, I can just wake myself up before it happens if I wanted to.
-
Love the Sam Tyler pic in your sig philly:)
nightmares are the same for me
-
I wish. I have nightmares more than I have normal dreams. (Which doesn't please me lol.) Last weekend I woke up screaming and my best friend was sleeping in my living room and I scared him so bad doing so that he fell off of my couch. Oops.
-
I was in book's a million one time, and I was reading this book on dreams, they say people that can lucid dream (they didn't guve it a name they just said those who can control it), there are somethings that they can't do, like turn ion a light, and I think open a door, not to sure about the last one, its been a while.
I barely have dreams, (that I remember) one thing I know I can do when dreaming, is that when I realize I'm dreaming (or in the case where I remember it), I know that I can wake myself up at will, but I don't have to, I basically control when I want to wake up, but not the actions in the dream sadly :/
-
Laicey: lucid dreams have been used by psychologists to treat nightmares, it works on my nightmares all the time.
everyone can always get Dr. Stephen LaBerge's book "exploring the world of lucid dreaming" out of the library, I own a copy and found it extremely helpful
-
I'm actually curious to see how true what I read in that book is, can someone who is a lucid dreamer, either
A) try to turn on a light
B) open a door
C) both
please, and then tell me your resultants thanks :D
-
I've tried both,
A) lights don't work just right, maybe the light will be too dim or too bright. Sometimes the light switches will do nothing
B ) doors will sometimes work like any ordinary door, but sometimes they can work as a teleportation technique and when you open the door, it will lead to somewhere far different from the expected room.
-
very fascinating :o
-
Sounds interesting, but I'm not that big of a dreamer, probably cus I have a hard time yanking my self away from TFF and RPs
-
the first part of learning to lucid dream is always to increase your dream rate (i.e. remembered dreams, we dream every night). That's actually pretty simple to do
-
dose this have anything to do with Hrs of sleep.
-
its much better to get at least 8 hours of sleep but I've had lucid dreams on just 3 or 4 hours of sleep.
Has to do with REM cycles n' all
-
But dose geting more sleep help??
-
it really does
-
thought so, cuz last night i managed to pull my self away from TFF at 11:15 ish EST and fell a sleep 15mins after that and managed to produce a "dream" well more of a blobish thingey. I'm shooting for a little more tonight
-
very good!!

Which may be my problem... I rarely sleep more than 3-4 hours a time (and usually a night). Mostly because I have nutso dreams and wake myself up. Scare myself out of going back to sleep. About once a month I get a whole 6-8 hours. I'll check that book out, though. It's a subject my best friend has been pretty interested in, but I haven't done much research. (Good thing I actually LIKE research though! It keeps me occupied.)
-
Well my plan to restart general dreaming kinda worked :/.
-
Do tell jaggsky!
-
Ok then Drake. After turning off my reading light and putting the pillow i was using as a head support on the ground and shutting my eyes. I started to dream :) but it wasn't super clear I could only vaguely figure out the setting(took me a good portion of my day to get a answer i could live with) , next it seemed only after 10 or so mins after starting the dream, that my brothers dog decided that 12:30 am would be a good time to wake me up(which he shouldn't have), pulling me out of it and after that i couldn't get another one going.
-
that sounds like very good progress to me
-
Now to set another goal. Any ideas??
-
Any Furry LDers (Lucid dreamers) out there? if you dont know what lucid dreaming is its finding out that your in a dream, and do whatever you want, delve into your subconscious, run around your dream world blowing stuff up, or just have an adventure and test out your powers. There are many forums and websites to help you to learn how to remember your dreams (for all of you who say your "dreamless" your not you just cant remember them) and then proceed to LDing.
Anyway, if your a furry and LD like me post your experiences here :D
I really just want to see how many furries on this forum like to LD.
-
I just made a LDing thread because I didnt see this one... oh well.
Yes I LD also, I go to the dreamviews forum for all my LD needs.
What I do is RC'S (reality checks)
for example
In dreams your hand most likely is missing or even has more than one finger, so if at any time I think I am dreaming, or I simply think about anything that reminds me of dreaming, I look at my hand, It eventually becomes a habit and even carries on into your dreams, So eventually I will be in a dream look at my hand, and say "Oh look I'm dreaming!" then the hilarity ensues. oh and if you say you dont have dreams, you do. you just cant remember them, if you want to remember them follow these simple steps.
1. when you wake up, stay still (dont be stiff and you can move a little but dont do something like get out of bed).
2. Sit there and really think about what your dream was about.
3. withing a couple of days you will be remembering your dreams and you may be surprised to find out that you have more than one dream in one night!
-
Id love to LD, but my dreams are way too wierd to find my dream sign.
-
My dreams, I always think its real. they'll tangent into something completly different and Ill be all like okay. LD'ing is hard.
-
Same here I gave up on Dream signs and just rely on Reality checks.
I would try a WILD (you know what that is right? I hope we both know the same terms) but peopel saying they've seen "horrific" things during sleep paralysis scares me... alot.
-
lol the main thing is to get your dream recall up and then do lotsa reality checks until it becomes second nature, youll be surprised how many dreams youll get out of plugging your nose or looking at your hands.
-
Merged the two lucid dreaming threads together.
-
THank you Zeph. If I can learn how to LD, I got a bone to pick with one of my first dreams.
-
hooray another lucid dreamer!!
-
Definitely have had the same experience. Except, I can change the environment, mainly.
-
I can change my form.
I've actually been my fursona :3
-
That's pretty awesome :)
I can only remember a few times where I've been able to truly "control" my dream.
If anything, I can walk out of a situation I don't want to happen.
-
was awesome to feel how my body was different
it's easy to learn!
-
YOU CAN LEARN HOW?!?!
-
of course you can! people have been learning for years! I learned how to do it!
-
Well I'm not much for being an expert since personally I haven't been able to accomplish a lucid dream, but maybe this will help http://www.wikihow.com/Lucid-Dream
-
lucidipedia.com is the way to go!
-
Okay, reading that does help :P I do a lot of those things, like keeping a journal, and taking naps after being awake in the morning.
Actually, I can remember more than a few times where I knew I was dreaming during the morning.
Also a time where I was playing with my friend's hair in my dream. Twas' very strange.
-
morning is when everyone dreams, when I lucid dream
-
Well then, count me in on having lucid dreams in the past.
I think I'm gonna keep a dream journal from now on though.
My dreams are always so trippy though, they're hard to explain in words @_@
-
I have a dream journal but I've been lazy about writing in it for a week now :3
-
Ah. XP
I can see mine getting filled up in about a week.
I have SO many dreams a night. And I remember most of them.
-
haha me too, I dream SO much
-
Most of the time though, the trippy dreams consist of places I've been, just distorted.
Like, connected to a pirate ship, and walking upsidedown through a line to get to a water ride at a theme park O.o
Theme parks, especially water rides, happen a lot in my dreams.
-
my dreams make zero sense....
-
Try taking them apart :)
Make sense of it somehow.
That's what I do. Usually, it says a lot about my emotions and my subconscious.
-
Hmm, when I think of it.. I think I've had several of em without knowing it... like, the other night I dreamt something bad had happened and I tried to think of things I could do to fix it...
And then I now remember once I was kinda facinated about the fact that I had been able to actually think while dreaming...
Can't say I know any dream where I've had full control of it, but I have had dreams where I can think freely and have control over what I do..
-
glad to see you spreading your influence Drake.
-
Thinking back on the few dreams i can remember having....... i know i've had one or two Lucid Dreams... i haven't had none recently though...
-
I have had a dream in a wile, its probably cus ive been staying up late lately.
-
I cannot remember my dream from last night
-
Yay, had a dream a very strange dream last night and it might have been lucid, but im not 100 present on that. Still i had a dream none the less.
-
I'm fine with attaining lucids, my problem is controlling them, the only thing I've ever been able to do was stretch a water balloon into a rainbow.
although one of my favorite parts of lucids is that one moment when your like "Ohmygod... im lucid!"
-
Ukko, I can refer you to a good page about dream control, I used to have trouble with it, but now it comes easy
http://www.dreamviews.com/section/dream-control-14/
it takes practice, and mind you dream control techniques are not limited to just those
-
I have, I even tried it once!
But I tried it the hard way, and it became a nightmare. (Through induced sleep paralysis) I was terrified. x_x
-
^ people reporting horrific scenes during sleep paralysis is what keeps me from attempting a WILD
-
^ people reporting horrific scenes during sleep paralysis is what keeps me from attempting a WILD
Yeah, I saw this figure each time I tried closing my eyes to either get out of it or to dream, and it kept getting closer to me, and each time it did it grew scarier and scarier, slowly. ;___; I also remember a shadowy person thing sitting on my chest breathing deeply, I was like, oh my gosh what is happening? :'(
Also some scene in my dream of me being chased by something, but I never got to see what it was, all I knew it wanted me dead. D:
NEVER AGAIN.
-
I do okay with WILD, I just sometimes hear the sound of my teacher yelling in my ear when I try it

I had a lucid dream last night!
-
Yay! post eet?
-
been trying to have lucid dreams, managed to have one but freaked out and woke up...
being a bird is not fun when you dont like heights xD
-
I dont know if this counts as Lucid dreaming (because I don't really dream, It's more like I think in my sleep, and as such I get my best thoughts and ideas in my sleep) so I do have full control over myself while I'm sleeping, but it's more like I'm concious. So... :?
-
k two things
1. when in this "deep thinking" is there scenery like as if you were awake?
and
2. if there isn't EVERYDAY when you wake up, sit in your bed and think what you dreamt about, you ill eventually be able to remeber 1-2 dreams a day very cool. and dont give up on it because it doesnt seem like its working.
-
*Ressurected with permission from WingedZypher* :D
I think I may lucid dream subconciously. I feel awake when dreaming, and I chose where I go next. What actually happenes in my dreams, no control, cept where I go next in them. Its kinda wierd.
-
I had a furry lucid dream last night, I was at a museum of mirrors and I kept shapeshifting myself to different fursonas :D
