I guess I should tell you a bit about myself. I'm a freelnace writer from NYC who, after years of struggling, finally got his first publishing deal for my graphic novel based on my scifi adventure webcomic "G.A.A.K: Groovy Ass Alien Kreatures" (http://www.webcomicsnation.com/moniquem/gaak/series.php) with First Run Publishing and then my second for the victorian mystery/adventure "The Continentals" (http://www.webcomicsnation.com/moniquem/continentals/series.php) with Transfuzion Publishing. So it's been a good year for me so far. :)

After being a confirmed lurker on these forums I decided to join. And after seeing some of the great artwork osted on the forum I finally decided to take the lunge and do a furry comic of my own. It's called "CHEVALIER: The Queen's Mouseketeer" (http://www.shivae.net/chevalier) and I'm working on it with Tiffany Ross who does "Alien Dice" and "Darius" among other comics.

We haven't finished it yet, but we have some character designs up at the site. If you take a look tell me what you think. :)

oh cool! im working on a plot line for a story i want to write for a graphic novel. what kind of things do publishers look for when they publish stuff like this?

Tell a great story and hae it illustrated by a great artist. A lacking in both can harm a project with a publisher. But it starts with the story. Bad art can't kill a great story, but a bad story can kill great artwork.

"Chevalier" is leaning more toward younger reads. But it's all ages, so adults should like it too. When I described it to Tiffany I said "It's The Princess Bride meets The Lord of the Rings in a Disney/Pixar movie written in Dr.Seuss rhyme starring a mouse". She liked the idea and thought kids like her daughter would too. So she immediately said yes to doing it.

You can be the judge starting next monday.
