My friend's name is Kenith (AKA Keney) and the word Furry only came up once in conversation. We were in an X BOX party (we normally play every night) with one other person (Tim) and He sead something about furrs to somebody that was with him but not in the party I sead " furrs?" thin Tim replies "yea, people that go into the desert in animal suites and [removed] each other" (both Tim and Keney don't know I'm a furry) I sead "Isn't that more like yiff?" and keney sead "No furry and yiff are 2 different things" (thin the topic was droped)
I don't know if he thinks furry is a fetish and yiff is something completely different or what but I want him to know I'm a furry, not the negative perv most of the media make us out to be but a good furry.
(that was longer than i thought it wuld be lol)

Then don't use the word ''furry''. Just say you're connected greatly to animals or something. If it's the title that has the stigma, avoid the word and just talk about the basics. Good luck.

That's solid advice. You might want to ease your friend into the concept as well. Giving hints or clues can make the actual revelation a tad less daunting.
But all-in-all, if he's a good friend he'll accept you whatever you say.

precisely... this is exactly what i do, and if the topic comes up in conversation and you get asked if you're a furry or not, then it's time to start explaining. unfortunately if the people you're trying to tell are very stubborn and pedantic then they'll refuse to believe you're a furry. (which still stands as the best reaction i've ever had myself... a close second is "me to!")
