The year is 2050. Humanity is at it's peak, limitations of the past are cast aside as Humanity reaches new heights in the age of technology. The Golden Age has arrived. However all Golden Ages end in tragedy. At 1400 hours a Russian spy satellite detects an American nuclear test launch. Fearing that the Cold War will happen again, the Russians prepare their nuclear warheads as if to "put down a possible nuclear crisis". The Americans however prepare their large assortment of nuclear warheads in response. Iran and North Korea's governments panic and they prepare their nuclear warheads. Armageddon nearing it is now 1500 hours. The world leaders meet up in Britain and last minute cancel all the launches. However when radio contact to the missile silos was attempted, no one responded, the crews killed and the mysterious killers launch the warheads at precisely 7:00 A.M. The Earth is smothered with Nuclear fire, and Humanity's light is almost extinguished. 2/3's of the population are gone. The survivors are mutated into the likeliness of animals, and are known as the Furs. Some of these mutants lost their minds and went Feral, attacking any creature on sight to feed their ravenous hunger for flesh. Those not mutated, the "Pure Bloods" as they were to be known as, made a mass exodus to the east, in search of something called the 'Bloodline'. Some of the 'Pure Bloods' remained with their furry brethren, and they became known as the 'Outcasts'. Life continued on, Humanity slowly rebuilding. Settlements are established, and the surviving populace lives on, passing on the 'Fur' gene on to their children.
The Year is now 2100. The 'Pure Bloods' return with the Bloodline. A strict militaristic regime, the Bloodline quickly sweeps out of the Eastern U.S.A. and carves a swathe of destruction throughout the local settlements. Furs are taken to experimentation camps, to work on a cure for the gene that causes them to be a fur. These experiments usually result in the subject's death. The camps are built like a prison, the guards cruel and merciless. Some furs have turned on their brethren to escape being experimented on, these are now known as the "Turncoats". The Bloodline believes those with the 'Fur' gene will one day go feral, and Humanity will consume itself because of this. The Bloodline's soldier's gas masks now becoming a symbol of death, enslavement, torture. The year is 2101, the peak of the Bloodline's power, a new discovery in the 'Fur' gene. After years to develop with the toxic radioactivity still in the area, the gene allows the mutated extraordinary powers, which at first are minimal at best. Over time if the mutated lives long enough, these powers are a sight to behold, and a terror to all who face them.
You are a Fur, or outcast captive in Internment Camp # 01, west of what was Pennsylvania.

Shinzuu groaned as he hung on shackles by his wrists in a dark, secluded room in the camp. He had been locked in here for quite some time, and they made sure that it was dry inside that building. They only came in with enough water to keep him alive, so as not to let him have a chance to escape. For years, Shinzuu has helped his master raise many prominent water users, most of them from as young as 3 years old. He screamed as the scenes from the day that he watched all the children get slaughtered ran through his mind again. He needed strength and energy, he had to get out...

Coraline was shoved into her cell, causing her to fall onto her hands and knees. They had just finished experimenting on her for the day and now they were sticking her back in this wretched place. She didn't bother to get up, knowing full well the guard would make sure he shoved her back down before he left and locked the door. Crawling over to a corner of her cell, she sat down, facing out towards the door. She sat there in silence, listening to the sounds around her. She could of sworn she just heard someone scream, but that wasn't really anything out of the ordinary. It did sound like a different kind of scream though. She let that thought move to the back of her mind as she sat there. It wasn't long before she started humming to herself. Of course, there was no way for the guards to stop her from airbending her way out of the place. She didn't see a point in trying though. They'd probably just catch her and subject her to more painful experimentation. That was only if they were having a good day though. So she just sat there and hummed a low tune. It had no words and no meaning, it was just a tune to occupy her mind for the time being just like it always was.

Yamataru stood at Coraline's door. In his hands he held her meal for the day. He grimaced at the thought of having to do such meanial tasks but unfortunately luck hadn't been in his favor last night. During last night's card game he had overplayed his hand and was in around $200 in debt to a Bloodline Corporal. The Corporal's main job was to feed and guard the prisoners, and since playing cards was forbidden in the first place they arranged for Yamataru to take over his duties while he took some 'mental health' days.
Yamataru looked down at the food hungrily and ripped off a piece of bread for himself. It wasn't much better than the gruel he had given the last prisoner but it was certainly better than the dried rations the Camp had given the Turncoats until the next supply shipment came in.
Yamataru banged on the door a few times and slid open the two slots on the door, one for the food and one to see. He eyed her hungrily from the door. He had seen her in the experiments before and he had always wondered how she stayed so beautiful with all the abuse they had given her. What I wouldn't do to run some of my own experiments on her. He grinned to himself and banged on the door again.
"Dinner time, Beautiful!" His melodious voice couldn't hide the lust and malice behind it. Yamataru took the drink off the tray before throwing the tray into the cell, sending it's contents everywhere. "Whoops...sorry Honey, looks like you're eating off the floor today!"

((Meanie Yamataru! >:( Lawl.))
Rana held the medical dictionary to her chest like some sort of security blanket, as if the world would fall apart if she let it go, curled up in a ball on her bed inside a dank, cold, musty-smelling cell. Reading material for the bookworm of all bookworms, who read even in times of dire suffering. She had had no choice but to jack it. The boredom here was more than palapable.......and seeing as how the scientists didn't exactly have hoards of fantasy novels, she had been stuck with a choice between stealing:
A: a tiny medical dictionary that she could nonchalantly slip under her smock
or B: records of random experiments and autopsies...
Rana chose the former for the sake of her sanity. The thieving young duck didn't want to know what went on here when it wasn't quiet and insanely boring.
She had found herself dropped (or, better put kidnapped) into an adventure, and adventure oh so much like the ones she read about through the years, poured over even. But she didn't know what to think of it now that it had happened. It was strange, like the first seconds of bitter shock after the rug of normalcy is pulled out from under your feet. Sighing, the young girl rested her head on her knees and readied herself to take a nap.

Ryan sat on his bed in his cell waiting for that banging on the door that came the same time everyday. He stared at the walls and heaved a sigh. There absolutely nothing to do but go mad with loneliness and draw. Although the prison walls were thick, they were extremely brittle. He wrote, drew, and bled while his claws ran across the old cement. There was not a square in in his cell that Ryan had not written over. Most of the things he wrote were his thoughts of misery and twisted ideas. He wiped his face and looked up at the stick figure he drew to be his friend. "Quite the dilly of pickle we're in, Stix." Ryan said watching the stick figure's crooked smile. "Sshhh. I'll do it as soon as the time's right." He said while returning the same smile. Ryan sat alone on the steel bed and listened to the faint sounds of banging doors outside his cell down the cell block. Ryan had nearly enough materials he needed to carry out his plan and he waited for the final piece to be thrown in through the door. And so he waited...and it tortured him.

Tanner was roughly showed into his cell and the door was locked behind him immediately. He crawled into the nearest corner of the damp room and closed his eyes. Everything went to hell since the Bloodline discovered his village and sent the soldiers in to detain the ‘animals’ and the few humans who lived there, including his mother, Hannah and little sister, Sue.
He tried to close his eyes and clear his mind, but the images of pain and death kept flashing in his mind. Some families began panicking, fearing for their children and then the soldiers started shooting. Hannah grabbed him and Sue and tried to get them to safety, but as fate would have it, a stray bullet found its way into Hannah’s head, killing her. Then he remembered being grabbed by a soldier, who called him ‘traitor’. After that, he was transported to this place, Intrenment Camp #1, as he overheard his captors calling it.
Tanner didn’t know what to do or where to go, but one thing was crystal clear for him. He had to rescue Sue…

Juno had recently been ordered to select a prisoner from the 'unique' stock at Internment Camp # 1, and had been given two soldiers to assist him in doing so.
The trio marched at a brisk pace, opening up security blast doors, and navigating through what seemed to be a maze of cell blocks. Eventually they reached the checkpoint, the guard on station needed their I.D.
"I.D.?" he asked.
"First Sargent Juno Harkov, these two are with me. I'm here to get Shinzuu for testing"
"Well Sir good luck, he's been acting up lately..."
"Noted..."
After getting past the checkpoint, the three took a left, and then another left, and found Cell 2543-AC, also known as Shinzuu's cell.
Juno could hear screaming from the inside, he opened the door to the screaming Shinzuu and gave him a punch to the stomach to get him to quiet down.
"SHUT UP! Shinzuu, today is our lucky day! Experiment day for you! Miller, Jenkins. Get him off his shackles and handcuff him!" he ordered. The two Privates did as they were told and soon Shinzuu was off the shackles and handcuffed. Juno dragged him outside his cell, then placed his pistol to his head, while Miller and Jenkins took his arms to move him along.
-
Shinzuu grunted as they hit him in the stomach. He feigned to pass out from the hit and let them drag him out. His fur had been very brittle, along with his figure, since they kept his cell completely dry. Now, Shinzuu's chance to escape had finally come. All he needs to do find any kind of water, any amount will do. The only trick was to still look like he passed out from the hit while he searched.
-
Coraline couldn't help but scoff at being called "Beautiful" by the guard. It disgusted her. When he tossed the tray inside her cell and sent the food across the floor, she was lucky enough for the rest of her bread to roll over to her. Brushing it off, she took a bite as she got up and walked over to her bed, sitting down on it. "If you think I'm going to crawl around and eat the food off of the floor for your amusement, you are seriously mistaken, Sleeze." She spoke towards the door. With a flick of her wrist, a gust of air closed the two slots on the door abruptly.
-
Yamataru chuckled as the slots closed. Opening them back up he peered in. "Well then if you won't eat off the floor, then you'll be licking up your week's water off of it." Yamataru smirked as he poured out the contents of Coraline's drink onto the cold stone floor, forming a grayish puddle on the ground. The water wasn't clean to begin with, but as he said...it was the only drink she'd be getting for a while. Yamataru pulled his hand back in and chuckled. "Better drink up, love."

Well.....the whole 'try to nap' thing didn't work out exactly as planned. Every time Rana managed to keep her eyes closed and her body comfortable, she'd start to think. And when she would start to think, the synapses of her mind would start firing and would invariably produce grim results--- flashbacks of her childhood, of her parents from that horrible event only two days earlier, crimson stained and holding back tears as they looked at her reassuringly a final time before falling limply to the floor of what was once her home, the dirt, the plants....
The plants!
For a fourth time, Rana lifted up her head, this time not gingerly, but with motive in her eyes. She hid her stolen book inside her pillow, then she glanced about the room to make sure that she was alone and that no-one was looking in through the door. When her solitude was confirmed, the girl climbed down from her bed--- only to ensue a cry of pain: the day Rana was brought here, she had tried to escape by mode of flying. Seeing this as a problem, the scientists had chopped off her wings and her tail feathers. All that was left of them were bloody, glistening patches of bare muscle on her back, barely hidden by cloth gouze. Grumbling in complaint of her pain, pushing her glasses up on her nose, Rana got down on her knees and crawled under her bed to go and see if her flower garden was still under there.
-
Ryan was growing tired of waiting for the usual paste-on-a-plate that was thrown through the door. Instead he heard the door to the cell next to him had just been slammed closed. He knew that cell had always been vacant for some time now. He got off his bed and crept toward the bars and sat down in the corner, getting as close to the cell that belong to the new inmate. He reached through the bars and around the corner to the cell door that belonged to Tanner. He snapped his fingers to get their attention. "Hey...Buddy. What's your name?" He asked.
-
Tanner’s head shot up when he noticed someone was addressing him. He got up shakily and moved towards the barred door. "I… My name’s Tanner MacMillan." He replied to his new neighbour’s question. Then he decided to try asking him about Sue. "’scuse me, have you by any chance seen a six-year-old human girl here? Black skin, dark green hair. She’s my sister…"

The two soldiers kept dragging Korius, until they reached the doors to the R&D Wing. They needed Juno to identify himself.
The man walked up to the retina scanner, and after a breif moment, his eye pattern was found to be valid, and the doors slid open.
"Doc... got another one for experimentation" Juno announced.
The Doctor, a man in a hazard suit, who was busy looking over the data from an experimented on Fur, looked up. He picked up a Collar and handed it to the new Turncoat, and ordered him to get out.
"Let's see here.... Korius Lambent, 23 years of age. In horrible medical condition, due to his ability to manipulate water...
Gentlemen.. take a seat" He ordered the soldiers, they left Korius, without support he just fell over, luckily on a chair.
The Doc took Korius's arm and dragged him over to a metal slab of a table.
-
Shinzuu flopped onto the table, guided by the doctor. It took a bit to not let his breath escape him as he flopped. Shinzuu opened his eye slightly to watch as the doctor turned his back to grab some straps. He slowly took out an ice needle that he made from some water he saw splash from inside a cell with a perverted looking guard outside it that snuck some food out of a tray he dumped into the cell. While the doctor was still going through straps, Korius quickly got up and ran the needle right through the doctor's vocals, grabbed his head and snapped it completely 360. Shinzuu breathed heavily as he slowly lowered the limp body. Finally, they got sloppy.
Shinzuu looked around the lab and found the sink that was clamped shut. Painfully, and nearly dehydrated, he unclamped the seals and pulled it off. Korius turned the water on low and drank heartily, making sure not to make any noise. He sighed in relief as he stood straight up, refreshed. Shinzuu then guided the water and created two crescent swords made of ice and then turned the water off. With a quick thrust, he ran the sword through the control panel and through the guard behind it. The door opened and Shinzuu walked out, carefully watching the surroundings. He quickly ran for the end of the camp, hiding as needed by the occasional guard. He cut open several locks on the way out. The cells that he cut belonged to Tanner, Ryan, Rana, and Coraline.
-
Coraline heard the sound of the lock to her cell being cut as she was staring at the puddle that was her week's worth of water. She had been contemplating whether she was going to be desperate enough to drink from the nasty puddle for a while when she heard the sound. Getting up from her bed, she walked over to the door slowly. She turned the knob and pushed. The door swung open. Peaking her head out, she looked down the hallway and spotted only the foot off a fleeing Fur before it disappeared around a corner. After seeing no sign of any guards, she followed suit and bolted out the door, running in the direction of the foot she had seen.
-
Five minutes before all this, Rana had been deep under her bed with her flower garden, glasses almost ready to fall off, the damp air of the cell that she wasn't used to yet making her bill feel funny. This was her garden. Hers and hers alone. Rana couldn't stand being away from plants, flora, the green seedlings of life for long. Even a day. So she had compensated for her loss and used her powers to make various plants ----grasses, flowers, vines and sprouts that could one day be trees ---- spring from the very concrete of her cell's floor. It was difficult, naturally, as plants have a hard time growing amoung rocks, even with tiny drips of water every so often, and especially find it hard when they're forced to grow in such conditions.....but Rana had done it. She had done it all right. Now it was a matter of taking care of them for as long as she could.
Holding a light blue tulip between her fingers gently, Rana pushed her glasses up on her nose.....again.....and leaned in close to it to whisper: "Grow, grow my little sproutling....but not too big now..." As she spoke these words, the tulip grew a good few centimeters taller. She told it to not get big for a good reason. If her garden extended a visible amount beyond the underside of her bed, then one of her captors might see it and destroy it...........that would devastate her.
Then something startled her. The sound of a little "chink." Rana, thinking the scientists had come for her a second time that day, immeadiatley righted her position and let out a startled, pained "QUUAAACCKK!" as her head bumped into the bed's metal lining. Flustered, she backed out from underneath there as fast as she could. Only to see that no-one was there. Not even the sound of anyone. Curious, she pulled herself to her feet, went over to the door, and pushed on it. To her utter amazement.....it opened. The duck almost wanted to cry out with suprised glee but knew better. She walked out into the hall and looked around for any guards. None. Nada. Not even a scientist. But there was something else. A strangely colored fur....no, not fur.....were those scales?....running hastily. Rana followed quietly, intrigued yet trying not be so careless that she might get herself hurt.
-
Yamataru huffed as he laid down in his bed in the Turncoat Barracks. Coraline, despite her thirst, had not done as she was told. He would have happily 'persuaded' her to do it, but the higher ups frowned on such conduct....especially from a Turncoat. Sure, the Bloodline soldiers could 'play' with the prisoners if they hid it well enough, but a Turncoat would get caught no matter what they tried. He knew because he had and paid the consequences with his hide.
He stared up at the bottom of his bunkmate's bunk and fantasized about Coraline and some of the other attractive inmates, before the alarm sounded. Yamataru bolted suddenly into an upright position, slamming his head into the bunk above. After expelling a loud curse, Yamataru quickly grabbed his weaponry and went to try to figure out what was going on.
-
Ryan was about to answer Tanner's question but his eyes lit up when he saw that Shinzuu had cut the lock on his cell before running off. Ryan jumped to his feet and slid the bar door open. He ran over to the cell of Tanner's and looked inside at his inmate neighbour. The fox raised an eyebrow. "Strange, I wouldn't have taken you for a human...and a young one at that." He noticed that Shinzuu had cut the lock to his cell as well and he slid the door open. "C'mon, MacMillan! I'll tell you about your sister when we get out of here!" With that, Ryan took off down the cell block after Shinzuu, expecting Tanner to follow after him.
-
Tanner was surprised the fox was so quick to help after he found out that he’s a human. He quickly darted out of the cell and followed Ryan through the corridor, stopping only to grab a re-breather from a utility box and sticking it in his pocket, knowing that if they actually escaped, he’d need it…
-
Juno bolted up as the alarm blared. Something happened... something went wrong.
He threw open the door to the lab and was horrified to see the doctor, already bled out and dead. He grabbed his AUG and bolted out of the lab, while shouting on his radio.
"Attention Internment Camp # 01, this is Sgt. Harkov reporting an escapee near the Labs.. I repeat an escapee near the labs.. terminate with lethal force.. I repeat lethal force!"
-
Shinzuu heard the alarms go off along with the announcement. No sooner did he hear it, did he see the front door being sealed off. With as much as he could muster, Shinzuu went full sprint towards the sealing door and threw his crescent swords at the fire hose. He quickly used the continuously gushing water as he got under the drop-door and formed two giant walls of ice from under it. The ice walls cracked from the impact from the doors. Shinzuu continued to feed the water through to reinforce the wall, but the water was running low. "Hurry up! I'm running out of water!"
-
The sound of the alarms and the announcement had already pushed Coraline to run faster. When she saw that the Fur who had cut her lock was holding the door open, she pushed herself even faster and dove underneath the door with her wings flattened against her back. Once she was through, she turned and waited. She watched to see if he would end up needing her help to hold open the door, since she figured he had released others because she had heard footsteps following a little ways behind her.
-
The barracks was incredibly close to the Labs, so Yamataru and his contingent made it to the scene first. They made it just in time to see Shinzuu holding the doors open for Coraline, with other escapees right behind her. "FIRE!" The Turncoat soldiers opened fire at the escaping prisoners. Yamataru spotted the ice walls holding up the doors and sneered. "Oh, no you don't" He fired a full clip from his weapon into one of the ice walls, causing fatal cracks to spiderweb throughout it.
-
Rana had made it outside the doors silently, right behind Coraline, without any trouble, but her shyness that ruled even in intense times such as this prevented her both from helping and from speaking aloud. When Yamataru ordered an open fire, one of the scattering bullets made it's mark into her shoulder. This insulted her highly, as if the Turncoats were saying the constantly hurting injuries on her back weren't enough. Gasping, trying to hold back tears as she held her bleeding shoulder, she ran behind what was left of the quickly crumbling ice wall to gather herself.
Rana tried to consider what it was that a hero from one of her novels would do if he was in the same situation. Was it hopeless, and just all men for themselves? Should she simply abandon these others and use her stealth gleaned from years of quiet life to slip away? Or....or was there something bigger going on here? Should she...could she......help? Could she help without screwing things up more than they already were?
One thing was clear: she needed to decide fast. Turncoats weren't exactly honorable, the ice wall was going to fall, and she would either end up dead or back in the lab if she didn't do something. Taking a deep breath, trying to ignore the throbbing pain from where the bullet nestled inside her, Rana scanned the area for any sign of plant life. A patch of dirt, a staining weed...anything......
-
He was close. Ryan was running full sprint down the corridor and towards the gateway to freedom. Before he knew it, bullets were whizzing past his head and hitting the ground around his feet. He noticed the ice was cracking and precious seconds were slipping away. As cracks shot up the walls of ice, Ryan dove through the doorway and landed on the ground beside Rana with a thud. He clenched the left cheek around the area of his lower back. "Ow!...My ***!" He lay on the floor as a cramp took over the left side of his anus. He then realized he was still in the doorway and that the possibility of a bullet landing itself between his eyes was rather likely. He saw that Tanner was still running into the doorway, their pursuers following close behind and shooting. A spark lit up beside Ryan's face and he snapped. "Fire indeed." Ryan stuck up his thumb and pointed his index finger, mocking the shape of a gun in his hand and aimed at one of the Turncoat's who shot at him. "...Bang." A small flame the size of a bullet fired from the tip of his finger and fired down the corridor at an alarming rate. The turncoat who was unfortunate enough to be hit with it went up in flames in a matter of seconds. He screamed and flailed his arms as the flames engulfed his entire body. Satisfied with the result, Ryan pointed with his other hand. His hands had become his sixshooter as he returned fire...litterally.
As expected, there was a sharp pain through Ryan's shoulder. "AHHH! [censored]! Son of a businessman!" He yelled in pain. He looked down at his left shoulder, blood was flowing out through his back and his front side. The cramp in his left cheek didn't seem all that important anymore. He clenched the wound with his right hand and crawled behind the side of the door opposite to Rana and propped himself up against it. He tore off his shirt and held it against the bullet hole in his shoulder. Blood continued to trickle down his chest and back.
-
Tanner was running right after his newfound friends, but then bullets flew past him. "Aaah, c***!" he exclaimed as he noticed the Turncoats right behind him, so he dove for the opening Ryan went to and stood up, his back against the wall. "Phew! That was close..." he sighed in relief, but then a ricocheted bullet went through his arm, just below his shoulder and he screamed.
-
The alarms rang out throughout the entire facility, the place was on full alert. Troops ran too and fro to try and cut off possible escape routs. A transport chopper was taken to ferry two squads of troops around the back entrance incase any prisoners went that way. The guards outside the front of the facility were scrambling to and fro, trying their best to hastily set up a position to get the drop on the escapees.
There would be a lot of exploitable holes in this barricade of sorts. Not even, it was just surrounding wreckage from the nuclear war dragged into position to give the guards cover.
There probably were angles and areas that weren't covered, or at least not too well.
-
Shinzuu watched as the others slid past, and used what was left of the water to freeze the floor under him. He put his hands against the dropping door and pushed himself to slide out, grabbing Rana, as the walls finally gave way and shattered as the seal slammed down on it. Still holding Rana and breathing heavily, Shinzuu stayed on the ground, already near exhaustion, and a headache larger than the complex they just escaped. He checked his body and found parts of ice sticking out of his fur, blood coming out of the wounds. They can't shoot worth (censored), but the collateral's pretty heavy.
-
Coraline helped Shinzuu and Rana up gently. "We have to find a way out of here. Guards are going to be everywhere." She said as she looked around. Then she turned and bent down, helping Ryan up as gently as the other two since she knew he was injured too. "Thanks for cutting my lock, by the way." She said, looking at Shinzuu. She began unconsciously humming as she waited until everyone decided they were ready to go and realized she was the only one who wasn't injured in anyway. "Bet I'll pay for that later..." She thought as her unconscious humming continued.
-
"********!!!" Yamataru cursed loudly as the door slammed shut behind the escapees. Quickly turning to his men, he ordered them to follow him. I am NOT letting this happen...not on my watch! The Turncoats sprinted through the halls to find a way into the section that the escapees had fled to. Through his radio he ordered men on the guard towers outside to be on high alert.
-
One of the Turncoats stops, turns around and glares at Yamataro dead in the eyes. "I see you've learned how to survive in the wild, Yamataro!"
-
Rana nodded quickly. "Ready when everyone else is.....I guess I'll go first." She was insanely tense, every muscle coiling and coiling and coiling on themselves almost to the point that they would snap. On jittery legs, her formerly white smock now halfway red-stained by her bullet wound, she walked forward, looking for a way out, a hall that didn't look overtly suspicious. Rana wasn't taking the lead, oh heavens no.....she was simply testing the waters for everyone else. If there was anyone who needed to be the first shot....again....by a guard, she figured it might as well be her....she was the youngest AND the most useless. And useless beings tend to make the best guiena pigs.
-
Ryan got to his feet with the help of Coraline. "Thanks." He looked over at Shinzuu. "And thank you for giving us this chance for freedom." He clenched his shoulder with his shirt. Blood was beginning to soak through and drip onto the floor. He was bleeding out and with two holes, he wouldn't be doing so good in about an hour if he didn't find medical attention. The same went for everyone else who'd been hit. He snapped his fingers and a small flame lit the end of his right index finger. He was hesitant before he jabbed the finger into his wound, burning the ends of the blood vessels to stop the bleeding. He made a face at the pain. He repeated this action for the exit wound in his back.
He noticed that Rana was already slowly making her way down the hallway. Ryan could tell that by the sound of her tone she was scared and at this rate they'd be dead from blood-loss before they made it even close to escaping. Ryan walked up to her and put his bloody hand on her shoulder then took it off once he realized that it was. "Umm...I'll lead." Ryan immediately took off in a sprint at the expense of the pain in his shoulder. His right hand burst into flame as he readied himself to fry anyone who tried to get in his way. The only thing that would stand in his way of freedom was a fire extinguisher and a bullet to the head.
-
Tanner cursed at the stinging pain in his arm and torn a small piece of cloth from his ragged t-shirt. Then he tied it over the wound to stop the bleeding and got up shakily. “Hey guys, wait for me.” He called as he followed Ryan and the others.
-
The troops in the perimeter didn't have a clear shot of the escapees yet. There was too much debris in the way, but one of the guards in the towers had a semi clear view, he could see one's head. He toggled the laser sight on his M4A1 on to get better aim and looked in his ACOG scope.
"Stupid Duck won't know what hit her..." he muttered as he breathed in deeply as the laser danced her forehead. All he had to do now was pull the trigger and she would sprawl over dead.
-
Shinzuu thanked the others as he got up and spotted the red dot on Rana's head and yelled, "Duck your head!" In a quick, snap judgment, he formed another curved sword from the melting ice lane he had made. Suiha Ryujin (Water Dragon Missile) With a swing of his new blade, Shinzuu sent a dragon made of water right at the tower, flushing it of its tenant. He grunted as the blood from his various cuts cried at him from performing that attack. Quickly, Shinzuu melted the ice bits and used the water to form another blade. He placed a hand on his chest, the blade between his chest and hand, and small parts of the blade melted off and made their way to his wounds and froze after covering their destination. "We must move quickly."
-
Coraline noticed a guard in another nearby tower starting to take aim at the group. "Oh no you don't." She said in a low tone. Punching the air with both fists towards the guard in the tower, she sent a ball of air at the guard. It moved in curved motion which made it hit the guard in the side, knocking him off-balance and off of the tower. "I agree with you on that point." She said in response to Shinzuu. "So let's go." She started to move on, looking around for guards and possible escape routes.

Yamataru and his men made it outside just as two of the watchmen were knocked from their posts. "Cheap black magician's! C'mon, you worthless throw rugs! Do you want the Bloodline to skin you for incompetence?!" The soldiers scattered throughout the debris, trying to get a clear shot. Yamataru jumped on top of a massive piece of scrap iron and pulled out his katana. "GET THEM! KILL THEM IF YOU HAVE TO!! JUST DON'T LET THEM ESCAPE!!" Yamataru called in a heavy wind that began blowing the dust in the compound into a brown fog. It wasn't much, but it would obscure the vision of the escapees. He didn't worry about his men...they had masks and infrared.
-
Well....this was a shocker to Rana's system. Dust kicked up and a brownish cloud grew, throwing and tossing sand as in the waves of a mad sea....She decided it was best to keep running forward, despite the fact she didn't know where to go, but just as she ran on a few long strides, her legs grew rubbery and the nerves inside them froze up on the poor duck. It caused her to trip on herself and therefore sent her glasses flying. She heard a soft clink as they slid across the ground a few meters away. "My glasses! God, my glasses!" She threw herself to the ground and desperatley started feeling around for them. Not my glasses, anything but my glasses.... Without her glasses, she was even more useless, for she wouldn't be able to see beyond the length of her arms. That made it worth it to search for them.
Though everything.....everything in and of itself....seemed unbelievably bleak right then. Maybe she'd be killed or caught no matter whether she could see or not.
-
Ryan was running in full sprint now. Dust, sand and debris flew up from the ground around him as bullets whizzed past his head. He ran around the large pieces of metal laying about in the yard. "Why the hell is this stuff here!?" He thought to himself as his shoulder clipped the sharp edge of rusty steel plating. "That's a nice dose of tetanus." He exclaimed. He didn't have time to think about the stinging pain but put all his energy and focus into getting out of there. As he ran, he found that Rana was on the floor feeling around for something just up ahead. "What are you doing!? We have to get out of here or you will be shot!" Ryan pulled her to her feet by the back of her shirt and was almost dragging her while he ran. He then realized that he remembered the duck was wearing glasses. He heard a clink next to his feet and he looked down. His eyes went wide as the grenade landed softly in the grass a foot away. He immiediately released his grip on Rana and picked up the grenade, whipping it back in the direction from which it had come from. He heard screams and then a loud bang. No more screams. Just as he went back to dragging Rana, a glare caught his eye from the floor. "There you are." He picked up Rana's glasses and shoved them onto her face. He felt sorry for being so forceful with her but she was going to get herself killed. "C'mon!" He said, taking off into the woods.
-
Tanner tried following Ryan and the duck girl, whose name he couldn’t remember now, but got lost in the dust cloud and ended up tripping over something, which turned out to be a guard’s corpse, probably killed by the grenade Ryan threw back. He examined the dead man closer and saw that he’s still clutching his weapon, a brand new sniper rifle PSG-1 with a flame suppressor. “Not a grenade. He must’ve fallen from the walls…” Tanner thought as he snatched the rifle and, to his great relief, saw that its clip is still full.
“This is too useful to be left here!” he said as he darted after the other escapees, hoping he’d be able to catch up with them.
-
The perimeter guards continued to pepper the escapee's position with gunfire, with troops trying to get a good angle on them. Whenever one sniper got a good shot, they moved and evaded his scope.
"There's too much cover to get a good shot, someone flank them!" someone yelled over the radio.
Juno and his team had just gotten outside the base and were making their way to the front from the left side of the base. They received the message over the radio, and hoped that the traitors were there to greet them.
-
Shinzuu took advantage of the dust clouds and got as low as he could. He saw the bare feet of prisoners running through an opening at the side of the outer walls. He ran after them, yelling for Coraline to follow suit. "Let's go, dragon girl! We're making a break for it!" Staying low, Shinzuu sniffed around and followed Ryan's scent. He jumped out past the opening and found himself staring at a group of guards heading his way. With as much energy as he could muster, Shinzuu gathered his energy and swung both of his curved swords. Sui Nana Hou Ryu! (Seven Headed Dragon Missile) Seven dragons, larger than man, left his blades and headed straight towards the oncoming group to wash them away. Shinzuu then collapsed onto the ground, fainting from exhaustion.
-
Coraline heard Shinzuu yell to her but with all of the gunfire, she was unsure of where his voice was coming from. Holding her hands with her palms together, she swiftly spread them apart. This move pushed the dust cloud away from the area surrounding her so she could see where Shinzuu was, but it also revealed that there were a bunch of guards close to her. "Oh..." She said as she quickly moved her hands back together, causing the dust cloud to cover the area again. In the cover, she quickly ran towards where she had seen Shinzuu only to find him collapsed on the ground. Bending down, she lifted him up, slinging one of his arms around her neck. She started to run after the others again but was slowed down from having to carry somebody else. A bullet grazed her waist and she clenched her teeth together as she otherwise ignored it and kept moving forward.
-
Yamataru put on his mask as the dust storm rose higher. Flipping a few switches, the goggles went to infrared and the rebreather in his mask started up. It was a hot day already, so the infrared was a bit blurred, but he could see people running to and fro. As he scanned, something strange caught his eye. A figure...who was perfectly still...was floating and bobbing through the debris.
"What the hell?" He thought for a moment and remembered one of the inmates. His favorite, cold-blooded, inmate. "Oh, I have you now frauline." Yamataru jumped into the dust and, drawing his katana, made a dash for Coraline.
-
Being tugged so forcefully, if anything, made Rana at least a few times more energized....she tried her best to keep up, and, as the terrian turned from concrete and steel to foliage and dirt, the girl immeadiately felt a long lost sensation of joy rush to her head, like a bullet to her brain. Just as quickly as she felt this, Rana established a connection with every plant she possibly could. "How far are we going to run? Shouldn't we wait on the others....?" She shouted to Ryan as he dragged her along.
-
Ryan just kept moving. It was a miracle that they had made it this far. "The others will be fine! Keep moving!" Ryan said. His words didn't mean anything. He didn't even know if the others were behind him or if they were even alive. All he heard was his heart racing, heavy breathing, and his boots running through the brush. He pressed onward through the woods. He hoped that the others were following close behind but he atleast still had Rana with him. There was a panic though as he remember how easily the forest floor could become a mine field at any moment. He wouldn't have put it past the Bloodline to do something like that. However, it was life or death. He decided that stepping on a landmine for freedom was worth trying to escape. He could hear shouting from guards back at the camp. He didn't know how far to run and the chance of being cut off by the Bloodline was extremely high. Suddenly the ground was solid below his feet and he looked down. He and Rana had reached a road. Ryan ran with Rana all the way to the other side of the road and jumped into the ditch. He pulled her down. "Stay low." Ryan said. He peered over the ridge and into the woods from which they'd came. There were footsteps. Ryan prayed they belonged to the others.
-
Tanner stumbled through the forest, cluthing the PSG-1 to his chest tightly. He desperately wanted to find Ryan, or any other of the escapees, but his chances were dim... if he didn't have the rifle, of course.
"Let's see. If this is the model I'm hoping for it to be, it should have..." he muttered as he pressed a button and looked into the scope, seeing only red and yellow specks on blue. "Yes! Thermovision!" Tanner grinned as he searched the area with the rifle to find two covering shapes.
"I hope they're okay..." Tanner thought as he padded over the road to the ditch where Ryan and Rana were hiding.
-
Juno and the other squad members were swept away by the flood of water, but immediately picked themselves up to continue the hunt. Juno stopped running and took aim, even though the targets were too far out of range.
"GO GO GO, DONT LET THEM GET AWAY!" he yelled, waving his arm in their direction before firing off another burst. He cursed to himself as they bolted towards the forest.
"Get some Helicopters to sweep overhead and get a visual on them!" he yelled into his comm.
-
Shinzuu groaned as he slowly awoke from his fainting. He noticed blood from Coraline's wounds and touched his blades to her back. A small wad of water separated from the blade and spread throughout Coraline's body. They entered her wounds and froze up, stopping the bleeding. Shinzuu watched as the soldiers started getting back up. Dammit.......
-
Coraline looked over at Shinzuu when he groaned as she was still running. She sensed someone approaching behind her and she stopped, turning Shinzuu and herself towards the oncoming attacker. She cussed under her breath. Of course it had to be that sleazeball of a guard. She pushed her hand away from her swiftly with her palm facing Yamataru and sent a very strong gust of wind at him. She then quickly turned Shinzuu and herself back around, commencing to sprinting after the others with a cushion of air underneath Shinzuu's feet so she wasn't bearing all his weight which made her able to run at full speed as she continued through the forest. "Thanks for the healing..." She said, remembering what she had felt him do before sensing Yamataru behind them.
-
Yamataru conjured a small wind of his own and placed it around his blade. Placing it between him and the gust, the wind enchanted sword acted as a wedge against the gust allowing him to continue unhindered. With another burst of wind he propelled himself into the air and landed in front of Coraline. "Come on, leaving so soon? We hadn't had a chance to get aquainted yet." Smiling, he readied his pistol in one hand and his katana in the other.
-
((I'm assuming the footfalls were those of Tanner, since his post said he walked over.))
Rana gasped for breath as she laid quietly in the ditch, smock getting more dirty than it already was as it trailed in the gravel and dirt. She desperatley looked around at the others, trying to understand, trying to get a grip.....sure, her body was here, technically, but her mind....well....she had left it back there. "Are we gonna wait now?" she complained rather brattishly, not meaning to be rude, just a bit on the shaken side.
Rana let her head droop as she eyed a few yellowish tufts of cheet grass in front of her bill. "You guys were lucky to be on this side of the fence," the girl told the plants, and, as she spoke, they twisted and coiled on themselves, growing a few extra inches from her implied stress. "Oh, yes, you plants will always be my friends, won't you...." She probably sounded like a lunatic, but honestly, she did not really care.
-
Ryan looked over at Rana to answer her question. "Yes, we're waiting..." He then noticed she was talking to the grass. Ryan made a face of confusion. "What the hell are you doing?" He asked in a whisper and almost talking to himself. Suddenly there were footsteps on the road just above. Ryan peered over the top of the embankment to see Tanner just above. "Tanner! Get down here! Hurry!" Ryan said, loud enough for Tanner to hear but trying to keep his voice low from the potential guards wandering in the woods.
-
Tanner switched the thermovision off and ran to the source of Ryan's voice. "Yo!" he said quietly as he climbed down into the ditch and put his rifle over his shoulder. "So Ryan, you said you know about my lil' sister Sue?" he asked Ryan, but then his gaze trailed to Rana. "Oh, hey there. I'm Tanner. What's your name?"
-
Shinzuu rolled off of Coraline's shoulders and swung his blades. Niban, Suiha Ryu Jin! (Double Dragon Missile) Dragons emerged from the blades and shot at Yamataru to sweep him away. Shinzuu grunted as he hit the ground and his head pounded as he lost consciousness again from using too much energy into his attacks.
-
Coraline scoffed at Yamataru just before Shinzuu cast his Double Dragon Missile at him. She made a sharp, slicing motion in the air, sending a slicing gust of air at Yamataru as he was swept away. Sighing, she lifted Shinzuu off the ground again and slung his arm around her neck. Forming the cushion of air underneath his feet again, she ran towards the others, reaching the ditch and slowly getting down in it with them as she was being careful with Shinzuu.
-
Yamataru was blasted backwards as the wind and water slammed into him simultaneously. He cursed as he bounced along the ground like a skipping stone, rolling into a tree before stopping with a crash. "Ohhhh, owww...." Yamataru rolled onto his back. "Haven't been hit that hard in years...oww...ugh, the Bloodline is going to kill me."
-
Ryan peered over the embankment once more. There were no signs of their persuers but that meant nothing. There was the distant sound of a motor puttering down the road while headlights slowly began to show up on the pavement. This was their ride out of there but when Ryan looked back he noticed that two were still missing. If they weren't there by the time he stopped the car, he was afraid of having to leave them behind. His palms began to sweat while switching glances from the forest and the lights. He had to make a decision fast.
-
(FINALLY!!! What took you guys so long?)
Tanner was still looking at Rana, when he heard the running engine, as well. He detached the scope from his PSG-1 and tried to look at the incoming vehicle...
-
In the compound, helicopter's rotors began to spin, and the machines lifted off the ground armed with spotlights and armed troops onboard to track down any escapees.
The sound of the rotors spinning could be heard from a fair distance away. Giving anyone whos escaping a fair bit of warning.
-
Shinzuu continued to lay unconscious in Coraline's grip. In his mind, he dreamt of all the children, peers and sempais that he had trained, hung out with, and lived with for all these years of his life. Ah, happy times with his family made this a truly blissful dream. However, it was short lived as the shadow of the Bloodlines came into view as he relived that day once more.
-
As Coraline sat there, she continually looked at Shinzuu to check and make sure he was okay besides being unconscious. It wasn't long before she heard the sound of helicopter rotors starting up in the distance at the camp. "Alright, you guys, we really need to get moving. It won't be long at all before those choppers are over are heads." She said, looking at the others.
-
Yamataru stood up shakily, only to fall right back down in pain. The hit had done more damage than he had originally anticipated. He could barely see the escapees on the opposite side of the embankment and he could hear choppers starting up. Firing a few rounds from his sidearm towards the group he cursed under his breath...there was no way that the bullets would hit their marks. He didn't know what happened...all he knew was that he couldn't feel one of his legs anymore and his back was screaming. He began muttering obscenities to himself as he sat against the tree, paralyzed.
-
The car had turned the corner and was now speeding in their direction. Ryan looked over the embankment into the woods to make sure the coast was clear. He ran up to the road and stood in the middle of the car's path. There was the sound of screeching tires and his eyes went wide was the car swerved, nearly hitting him from the side but it stopped sure enough. Ryan walked up to the driver's side window. The person inside was merely a shadow and barely able to make out once Ryan put his fist through the glass and tearing the body out of the seat, ripping his victim from the car through the window. Ryan gave the person a kick to the gut a couple of times before opening the door while more glass clanked on the cement in the process. He got in the driver door while the man on the ground lay in the fetal position. "C'mon!" Ryan yelled to the others to get in.
-
Tanner reattached the optics back on his rifle when Ryan called. He got out of the ditch quickly and sat at the front passenger's seat. He searched the area with the rifle's thermovision and relaxed a bit. Then he decided to ask again "So Ryan. About my sister..."
-
The sounds of helicopter rotors got louder for the occupants of the car as the helicopter itself was directly overhead. The order came in to terminate the escapees, more trouble then they were worth. So instead of dropping a squad, the helicopter turned it's right side to the car, where a soldier on a gatling gun was aiming in on the car.
If the dang helicopter could hold still long enough, Juno could unleash lead on the escapee's ride.
-
Shinzuu's ears rang as he regained consciousness with Ryan's voice. He slipped off Coraline's shoulder and hiked up the back of the open humvee. The helicopter rang above their heads and Shinzuu noticed a soldier on a Gatling gun off the side of the chopper. With what physical strength he had left, he threw his blades towards the mounted gun and cut its mount and its chamber clean off. Shinzuu fell back, now physically tired, "Move it!"
-
Coraline quickly got into the vehicle with the others as the helicopter hovered by them. She watched as Shinzuu cut of the Gatling gun and watched it fall to the ground. Using her powers, she made shifts in the air current which made it even harder for the helicopter to hold steady beside them. "Let's go! Punch it!" She said to Ryan in the driver's seat. They didn't have time to dilly-dally.
-
Yamataru fired off a few more rounds at the vehicle as his vision began to blur. "Aww, hell. That's...not...good..........****." Passing out against the tree, Yamataru slumped to the ground. A trickle of blood fell down his face and started a small pool on the grass.
-
"We're not in the clear yet, Tanner!" Ryan yelled as he threw the car into gear and slammed his foot on the gas. The tires screeched as the car began to rapidly pick up speed. The car sped down the road taking turns at an alarming rate. A soldier had hopped out of the bushes and onto the road in front of the vehicle and immediately opened fire. Ryan ducked as the bullets tore through the glass. In response to this, Ryan ran the shooter down at full speed. He leaned back up in his seat, pushed the shattered windshield out the front, and looked into the back seat at Shinzuu and Coraline. Niether of them had bullet holes in them so he turned his attention back to the road. The helicopter, however, was not far behind and was focusing on the car with a spotlight. He looked at Tanner then at his weapon. "What are you waiting for!? Shoot at them!"
-
"Whoa! Okay." Tanner leaned out of the window and took aim at the pilot cabin. *BANG!* he squeezed the trigger and fired, but the bullet bounced off the glass. "Crap! Bulletproof glass!" Tanner cursed as he then aimed for the main rotor. *BANG* he fired again, but it didn't have any effect. "Hmph! Too sturdy." he cursed again. Only 8 bullets left. Then he took aim at the rear rotor and once it was is his field of fire *BANG!* he fired and hit it. It didn't seem to have much effect, but then the chopper started moving in a strange way, indicating the damage was more severe than he thought before.
"Okay, that should at least slow them down..." Tanner sighed in relief and leaned back in, checking his magazine. "Only 7 bullets left." he announced.
-
Juno nearly fell out of the helicopter, with all the jostling going on. He didn't even notice his gun couldn't function any longer, as he like the other soldiers were hanging on for dear life while the pilots struggled to regain control of the machine. Soon the helicopter began to steady, and Juno suppressed the urge to vomit, some weren't so lucky. However they were turncoats so they didn't have to vomit inside their masks.
The Helicopter began to pick up speed as it tried to catch up to the escaping car.
-
Shinzuu evened out his breathing as the chase continued. His head began to feel better and the world finally stopped spinning. It seemed like hours since their initial escape, but it's only been mere minutes. Shinzuu sat up in the rear chassis of the Humvee, only to duck back down as bullets came flying at them. He got up again, and sat on his knees. Slowly, Shinzuu dug his fingers into a few of his cuts and forced the ice to melt off and gather at his fingers. He pressed into one of the cuts hard and forced it to bleed again. The words of his former master echoed through his head, "Now, Shinzuu. What I am about to teach you is a forbidden form of our style. Resist using this if at all possible, but if it is absolutely necessary try to use it as little as possible." All the water mixed into the wound with the blood and formed a small cube sticking out Shinzuu's chest. He grabbed it and pulled it out slowly, forming a katana of frozen blood and water. Mumyou Saigyou Damejutsu:Chikatana. (Water School Forbidden technique: Blood Katana) The katana glimmered in Shinzuu's hand, its constitution and sharpness more than obviously exponentially stronger than his previous water swords. With a heave, Shinzuu threw the blade at the pursuing chopper. The weapon swung in a vertical circle as it traveled and the blade but right through the glass and the hood, and then cutting right through the chopper blades.
-
Coraline had ducked when the soldier had jumped out and opened fire on the vehicle. When she felt the vehicle go over a bump, she knew it was safe to sit up, so she did. As Shinzuu stuck his fingers into his wounds and reopened them, she watched him in disbelief. She couldn't understand why he would do such a thing in their dangerous situation. When he pulled the blood katana out of his chest, she finally understood somewhat about what he was doing and she was amazed at the effect it had on the helicopter.
-
Ryan manouvered the vehicle as he heard the sound of scraping metal followed by a thunderous bang. He didn't care to look up at the helicopter or in the back of the Humvee at Coraline or Shinzuu to know what was going on back there. He had to focus on the pitch black road that seemed to carry on and on without end. There was, however, light on the horizon outlined by a silouette skyline. They were heading for the city but still had a lot of ground to cover.
-
Tanner clicked the rifle's safety on and set it by his side. He could finally relax for a moment. Then he looked at Ryan again. "So, Ryan. Can you now tell me what you know about Sue?" he asked, but then he noticed the city in the distance. "Whoa! Is that a city? Are we going in it?" he asked excitedly because he's only lived in his village until recently...
-
With the pilot impaled, the helicopter spun out of control, with Juno once again hanging onto the stub of a machine gun turret for dear life. Some of the soldiers with him, weren't so lucky, and were either sucked out of the chopper and thrown out into the wastes, or sucked out then chopped up by the helicopter blades.
"Danger... Danger... Crash imminent" was the alert's only reaction to his soon to be death. Closing his eyes he sighed, as a thunderous impact was followed by a firestorm as fuel tank ignited and exploded.
-
Shinzuu breathed heavily as his bleeding slowed a bit. He collapsed and fainted for good, no telling how long he was going to wake up from this one. He had exhausted beyond what he had left, and had risked revealing the dark nature of their art. Thankfully, he only did the most basic form, or else he would've died, considering his current physical state.
-
Yamataru layed in a swirl of colors. They all seemed to float around like oil in water. He felt pressure on his back as the swirling quickened. Yamataru tried to make out shapes in the colors but everytime he would look directly at one it would dart to the edge of his vision. Distance didn't seem to exist as he felt himself bobbing ever so slightly through the colors, changing ever so slightly with each bob.
Yamataru didn't know where he was...but it wasn't where he was supposed to be.
-
Ryan looked at Tanner and then looked back at the road. "I saw your sister. She looked a lot like you. It was not long ago but I saw he beyond the fence boarding a transport truck. At the time, I was just being admitted to the facility. I was brought in and walked down a hall of barbed wire and steel mesh. She looked at me and I looked back before she was boarded." Ryan looked back at Tanner. "Word had it that the transports are being taken into the city for testing on a larger scale. I don't know, the way it sounded was kind of rough so I didn't pay much attention. That's about all I know." Ryan drove on into the early hours of the morning. Daylight was breaking and the Humvee was already through the woods and was now nearing the outskirts of the city. Large industrial buildings stood empty and abandoned. The streets grew wider and were littered with old cars and machinery. Ryan looked at the fuel gauge. It's needle was past empty three miles ago. He looked around and turned a corner into an alleyway. It was narrow and had walls covered with graffiti. He turned into a large garage the was part of a loading dock. The Humvee made it inside before the engine cut out.
Ryan leaned forward over the dashboard, pressing his face against the windshield. He scanned the pitch black factory floor as best he could since the only light came from the loading bay door from which they entered. He looked at Tanner and Coraline and sighed in exaustion. "Let's go." He opened the door and stepped out onto the floor. It was littered with broken glass that cracked under his boots.
-
Tanner pondered at what Ryan told him about Sue. If she was in this city, he knew he had to find her. But he also needed to concentrate on the problems at hand. "What now? Are we gonna look for gas?" he asked as he lifted his PSG-1 and stepped out of the Humvee. Before following his companions, however, he decided to check the vehicle for anything useful, finding red tinted goggles and a fairly well-preserved XM8 combat rifle and several clips of ammo. "Treasure!" Tanner thought as he slipped the goggles on his forehead and strapped the XM8 on his back with a belt. "Hey guys! Wait for me!" he called out as he went to join Ryan and Coraline.
-
As the vehicle entered the factory a low hiss echoed off the steel walls of the place. It sounded like a gasmane leaking, at least to the group who entered the factory.
The truth was far worse. Strange creatures were scrambling to and fro on the upper floors of the factory building. Creatures with red eyes watched the group unnoticed. They had seen them from miles away, thanks to radiation enhanced senses, and smelled them even before that. What were they doing in the home of a small hive of Ferals? It didn't matter, they would be a meal soon enough.
The factory bottom floor consisted of mainly wide open spaces of the assembly lines, with a few access ramps leading to the offices and the security department. Near the administrators office, which was the most lavish of the offices, stood stairs to the upper levels, which consisted of more offices and balconies.
-
Recca crawled along the roof of the factory, interested in why the car would show up at a dangerous building like this, but he was already pushing his luck with what his master said. 'Stop going to the human buildings, they're rarely populated with someone that isn't trying to kill us... now get-' he stopped the thought as it lost its relevence to the situation at hand. He scaled down the wall and followed the vehicle in, his 'skull' working as a giant sunglass lens to let him adjust to the light inside. He stayed behind the humvee and waited to see what was driving it before making any further moves.
-
Coraline climbed out of the vehicle then turned around to face the vehicle again. She pulled Shinzuu out of the vehicle, draping his left arm over her shoulders and putting her right arm around his waist. It seemed that no one else was going to carry him and she wasn't going to leave him behind. As she walked after Ryan & Tanner and carried Shinzuu along, she made sure to avoid the broken glass since her feet were bare.
-
Yamataru woke up inside the internment camp's medical station. His head was screaming in pain as he sat up in his bed. He could feel his legs now, so he was slightly relieved at that fact. He wasn't sure how he was going to explain to his CO that the prisoners escaped, but he was just glad he was still alive.
-
Ryan looked at Tanner when he inquired about their business in being there. "We're here because it's the one place he could hide out in. I'd rather run out of gas here than out in the open. If you find gas...If you find ANYTHING, take it. Food, water, weapons, whatever." He walked further into the darkness before he was out of sight, engulfed by the blackness that consumed the entire factory. The sound of his fingers snapping broke the silence as it echoed through the shadows and a small flame arose on his fingers as he lit his way deeper into the factory. His foot had knocked into something on the floor. It was blunt and made of wood. He narrowed his eyes as he bent down and picked it up. It was a baseball bat; however, it was a baseball bat with nine inch nails sticking out the business end complete with dried blood and chunks of skin coating the rusting spikes. The handle itself was coated in dry blood. Someone had been where he was standing. He could tell by the pair of shoes that lay on the ground with decomposing feet still in them. It was as if something ripped that person off the face of the earth. He looked back at the group. "Get back in the Humvee...NOW!" He said before running back towards them.
-
Tanner looked at Ryan in confusion, but obeyed rather than finding out why he's running away. He opened the back door for Coraline and Shinzuu and then sat back the passenger seat, slamming the door. "What happened, dude??" He asked as he detached the PSG-1 scope from the rifle again and switched it to thermal vision to scout the darkness.
-
The hissing became louder as a couple of the larger feral immediately dropped down from the top balconies of the factory and bumrushed the vehicle roaring as they did, while the smaller ones began to try and climb down the walls.
The Ferals looked like the furs did, except extremely twisted. Instead of being anthromorphic beings, they were monsters that moved on all four limbs. Their teeth gave way to viscous looking fangs that were dripping slob as they charged.
One particular big brute slammed into the side of the vehicle and was pounding away at the driver side door.
-
Recca tried to back away, but noticed one of the smaller ferals was heading right for him as it made its way down the ceiling. He instinctivly threw a medium-sized fireball at it, and the impact stood out as half the room lit up for a few seconds as the Feral hit the floor burning. His next choice was even less thought out as he, instead of leaving the factory, tried to hide behind one of the pillars.
-
Coraline rushed back to the Humvee and pushed Shinzuu's unconscious body in after Tanner opened the door. She quickly climbed in and slammed the door shut just before a big Feral slammed into the side of the vehicle and then started pounding away at the driver's door. "This isn't good at all." She said before seeing a flash of light and spotting a Feral hit the floor on fire. The short burst of light helped her see that there were more climbing down the walls. As she looked around at the darkness from the backseat she tried to think of what she could do.
-
Ryan ducked as the feral continued to slam against the driver's side door. Ryan was beginning to get angry. He stared intesely at the beast as it rammed into the Humvee. He struggled not to break his concentration. Suddely the beast stopped and swayed around, clearly disoriented. The color of Ryan's eyes began to change to a dark red color. The beast fell over, dead, while steam began to rise and blood began to pour from every hole on it's body. Ryan managed to boil its blood from the inside. With the beast out of the way, more ferals were begininning to surround the vehicle. Ryan noticed that a smalled feral had burst into flames. "Did I do that?" He thought to himself. There was no way he could have done it...but it showed him they were flammable. Ryan kicked the door out and off its hinges and waited for the ferals to get closer.
-
Tanner looked in the direction Ryan did and realized too, that the Feral must have been burned by someone else, but for now, he had to concentrate on the trouble at hand. The other of the large Ferals pounded at the front passenger's door. This made Tanner flinch and accidentally send a salvo of bullets from his assault rifle, right through the window into the Feral's gaping maw. The monster fell down and choked for a bit before dying. Tanner let go of the rifle and his hands were trembling.

"Entaru... this is Overwatch Command. Because you LOST the convicts, you now get the 'honor' of tracking them down. You and a squad of recruits will follow them via chopper to where they were last seen heading. The ruins of what our records say is Trenton, New Jersey. Extreme caution is advised, not just because of the convicts, but we lost a couple patrols in that direction a few days ago. The chopper with the team should be near the camp. This is HQ, over and out."
(basically the squad is where Daidalos comes in)
The sounds of helicopter blades rotating deafened the area above entaru as the UH-60 made for the helipad on site.
[MEANWHILE AT THE FACTORY]
More and more ferals charged at the Humvee, seeing their Alphas killed. A portion of them hesitated by the fire. After all, they, like all primitive creatures, were terrified of fire. Radiation can't change that.
-
Recca looked over the desk to wonder if they finished fighting, but noticed that not only had the fight not ended and more were coming, but the fire he started had put some fear in them. He renewed his determination as he vaulted over the desk, and onto the humvee, his talons digging into the sides. He let out a giant cone of fire right where they were going to gather, then lept at another feral with his hands coated with the same infernal heat. His claws not only burned the one he pounced, but set his/her fur ablaze, marking another area that the Ferals dispersed from. He gathered fire in his hands and started throwing it left and right, keeping his back to the flame that warded off the Ferals.
-
Shinzuu groaned as the humvee rocked from the impact of the feral. He became aware of what was going on around him, but he was too weak to do anything. Shinzuu noticed Coraline pretty much on top of him in the commotion and groaned as he tried to get up. "Ugh.... what's the situation? Why are we still under attack? I had taken down that chopper. How are they still attacking us?"
-
Coraline shifted as she felt Shinzuu try to move, having not realized she was on him. "Oh, sorry..." She said as she looked over at him. She looked out of the Humvee as Shinzuu rattled off his questions. It was obvious that he had no idea what was happening since he had just woken up. "It's Ferals attacking us, not the Bloodline." She glanced back at him then out again. "We're in a city now."
-
Yamataru groaned as he heard the message. Now HE had to hunt them down. He rolled out of his bed and geared up. The camp physician gave him a pack of syringes to help with any pain the procedure might cause lter and sent him on his way. Looking up at the helicopter, he roadie-ran his way to the chopper and looked at the bunch inside. "Alright you grunts, get ready for pure Hell. We're on our way to Treton, as you probably already know, and the Furs we're after are not only dangerous but scared. More than one of them is a master of their paticular element so I suggest you either get careful or get dead. Any questions? Too bad!" Yamataru banged on the entrance to the cockpit, signalling the pilot to take off again. He sat down and strapped himself into one of the seats and lit a cigarette. Here we come, maggots, ready or not!
-
As more and more ferals drew nearer to the Humvee, Ryan put his hands together. Sparks shot around on the inside of his palms before erupting into a large fireball. He arched his arm back and whipped it at the most condensed area of ferals. There was a mushroom cloud of fire and black smoke. The factory floor went up in flames. There were shrill screams that came out of the bright orange light complete with the smell of burning flesh. He looked around at the rest of the ferals who were now hesitant of approaching. He looked at the fire he'd started. "It needs air..." He looked back at Coraline in the Humvee. "Coraline! I need you to spread the flames around! Make a fire storm! Burn Everything!!!" Ryan yelled back.
-
Leonard tensed up as the transport chopper took off, also listening to Yamataru's barking. "I can't believe this whelp is leading this mission. This'll be a bloodbath..." he thought. He gripped on his SCAR assault rifle and thought about his overall life. Most of his carrier was built up on hunting Ferals, but the Furs were something else. From what he knew, the Internment Camps were supposed to be research centers made for developing a cure that would reverse whatever caused the population to become Furs. Also, his opinion on handling the 'patients' wasn't the best. He worked hard make the Furs' and Outcasts' lives at least a bit better.
"I don't give a [censored] about this guy's ranting. We're supposed to detain those escapees, not kill them!" he muttered as the chopper went on.
(sorry about the small delay, I was outta ideas)
-
Tanner watched in awe as Ryan made the flames from his hands. "The powers are really amazing, I guess." he thought.
-
The ferals started to pull back... for now. The fires caused terrified the beasties and they scattered back to the upper floors. For now, the group was safe from the ferals. However the helicopter was a different story. It landed about two blocks from the factory on the roof of an old hotel, the only place big enough for the chopper to land. It waited until the occupants disembarked.
-
Recca figured he scared most of them off, then when he noticed there were flames where he didn't attack, and looked back at the humvee. "Which one of you shot that... or is there a Bloodline in the car keeping you out?" he somewhat yelled while pointing at it with a burning hand. His 'visor' cracked on the upper-right corner as he addressed the occupants.
-
Shinzuu growled at Ryan over the Ferals' banging against the humvee, "We can't even get out, you idiot! How's about getting rid of these ferals trying to break in first!?" After the sparks and flames scared off the immediate Ferals. His face grimaced as he heard the chopper land nearby. Shinzuu grunted as he tried to pull himself out, he can feel water running somewhere. "Someone help me up. There's a waterline somewhere, and I'm dehydrated. Find it and break it when the soldiers come in. Also, get ready to bar all the doors shut, I have an idea..."
-
Coraline was lucky the Ferals fled before she had to use her powers. She heard the chopper land as well though she could tell it was a couple blocks away. She cautiously got out of the Humvee and helped Shinzuu out. His plan sounded good to her even without all of the details of it.
-
Yamataru leapt out of the helicopter as it landed and readied his rifle. "Move it you worthless grunts. I don't want Ferals showing up because of the noise." Turning back to his surroundings he kept his eyes peeled for anything that might decide to come after them.
-
Leonard grabbed his rifle and jumped out of the chopper, followed by the rest of the squad. After a few minutes they saw the factory where the escapees were supposed to be. The commanding officer, Yamataru ordered Leonard to grab four men and enter the factory through the back door, while Yamataru with the other four soldiers went in through the main entrance. "I don't like this." thought Leonard as his squad entered the building.
-
Rana found herself lost in the forest a mere short time after escaping. The self-sufficent duck believed in logic, and logic dictated, to her, that she not follow the pack. After all, who would expect that the glasses-wearing teen would stay behind, of all idiotic things, while the others made their escape? No-one, that's who. She was a nothing, a pawn that could easily be lost in the shuffle and wasn't cared about much at all.....After a time of hiking (as well as getting utterly lost), Rana had managed to find a quiet place to rest, under the shade of an old oak. It was here that she started to plan just how and where she would live from now on...
-
Ryan watched as the ferals disappeared into the shadows. He was glad because he didn't think he could pull off something so powerful again for some time. He turned around to head back to the Humvee and stumbled to his knees but staggered to his feet again. He heard the chopper blades nearby but he was too tired to care anymore. Shinzuu had mumbled something about water from the inside of the Humvee but, to be honest, Ryan would rather bail on them. At the same time, Shinzuu was the reason he was free in the first place and he wasn't about to leave them behind in the worst of times. The flames were spreading and, soon, the whole area would be engulfed in flames and the place would be crawling with soldiers. They had to move or take care of the fire. There was an upside, however, when the flames illuminated the pipes that hung overhead near the ceiling of the factory where the ferals had previously been congregating. There was the watermain. To get to it was a mission in itself. He looked back at Tanner and pointed. "Tanner, follow me! We got to get up to that pipe." Ryan picked up the spiked baseball bat and began, through the flames, in the direction of the corroding stairways.
-
Upon hearing Ryan, Tanner immediately grabbed his rifles and jumped out of the Humvee, following Ryan to the stairs. "You got a plan?" Tanner asked, wiping his sweat, since it was getting hot from the flames.
-
From the hotel roof, the helicopter caught a glimpse of the humvee, but due to the angle of his visual, he could not see more. He radioed into the squad that he found the escapee's vehicle in the old Marty's Shoe Plant. The helicopter them flew off, not having any armaments to assist the team, but remaining on standby if a pickup was needed.
-
Recca could tell it was only Furs just from the conversation, but it annoyed him to no end to be ignored despite showing himself as a 'floating fireball'. He extinguished the fire on his hand and climbed on top of the humvee and started waving his hands around like a conductor telling the orchestra to play softer. His gestures seemed to dim the flames to near non-existance with the help of his 360 degree 'reach' towards each ember. The flames could still help with sight, but now the building wasn't in danger of becoming an inferno. I know I'm good at hiding, but seriously, do I have to set one of these Furs on fire just to get their attention?!
-
Shinzuu held onto Coraline as she helped him out of the humvee. He grunted and groaned as his body cried out. Shinzuu was barely able to remain aware. The dehydration had really started taking its toll on his mind. He started hearing something in the distance, footsteps. Shinzuu couldn't tell whether he was hearing things or that soldiers had disembarked and were heading their way. "Hurry! I can hear people coming!"
-
Coraline continued to hold Shinzuu up as the others headed to the water-main. She watched the stranger climb on top of the Humvee and lessen the flames around the factory. She wondered where he had come from since she hadn't actually noticed him before since she was preoccupied by the Ferals and whatnot. She didn't speak to him though because she was more concerned about Shinzuu needing his water.
-
Yamataru received the message and ordered his squad to form up. "Alright, the targets have been spotted. They're holed up in that show plant over there. I'll be leading Alpha team in through the back entrance. Bravo team will head around front to attract their attention. We are permitted to use deadly force if nessecary. Remember, these Furs are dangerous. Take every precaution when dealing with them. Move out!" Yamataru called his team to him and began to run around the back of the plant.
((You're Bravo Team, Daidalos))
-
Leonardo says: "Ok people, let's go! And no unnecessary noise ! Perhaps you do not want to kill us?"
Than Leonardo made a gesture to bravo team follow his.
-
Something vile seemed to ruffle Rana's feathers, and no longer did she stay seated beneath this tree, resting. She rose to her feet and glanced about...the smell of smoke teased her nostrils slightly, sounds of peril irritated her ears, and the girl cringed. She certainly would not be heading in that direction. No. She would be heading towards the sound of the river, the sound of cool water, away from the mental suffering and sensation of constant fear and anxiety. Of course, nowhere may have been safe at all, but what did a poor, wingless duck know about logic aside from what she wished was true?
Hanging her head, she turned away from the smoky smell and began walking towards the reassuring sound of gurgling water, wishing more than ever that she had her wings back...then she wouldn't have to worry anymore...because then she could just fly away...
-
Ryan looked back at Tanner. "I need to get you to a position with a clear line of sight to those pipes up there." Ryan said pointing upwards at the pipes blocked by large units of steel.
Ryan looked around and caught sight of a rusty door marked "Stairwell." He took off towards it, throwing his whole body into it. It broke off its hinges and landed on the floor with Ryan on top of it. He winced at the pain in his shoulder. "Not the best of ideas." He muttered to himself. He picked himself up and looked back at Tanner. There was a loud bang. The fox looked skyward to the ceiling above at roof level. Bloodline soldiers were making their way inside. "Hurry, Tanner, we ain't got that much time."
-
Tanner stared in the direction, where Ryan said the pipe was and quickly followed him up the stairs. He checked his rifle along the way and said "I got only 7 bullets in my sniper rifle. Better hope nothing will screw up...".
-
Recca heard Bloodline coming through the building, mostly because hes never heard Furs wearing full combat gear unless they've gone Turncoat. He then heard something about pipes and could only guess that they might want to flood the room, for reasons he doesn't completly comprehend. Regardless, he clamped his hands together and aimed at a water pipe that was between the stairs on the right, and the entrance that the humvee just went through. He gathered the flame inside his hands, then spread out the fingers as the flame shot out and almost seared the entire pipe open, but it was weakened enough that a single bullet could burst the entire pipe like glass.
-
Shinzuu watched all over as soldiers on the roof and in the distance began to circle the building and head for one of the two doors. Which doors, he didn't know. He mumbled softly to Coraline as he began to try to stand by himself, "Get everyone to high ground as soon as you can. It won't matter after I get control, but until then, get everyone upstairs with those two, over there. Once all the soldiers are in, use your wind to seal the doors shut. But I'll still need that water, soon. I'll get back in the humvee and gather myself as much as I can. Now go." Shinzuu leg go of Coraline and went in through the warped door of the humvee. As he did, he yelled over, "Get that water, now!" Shinzuu was afraid this would alert the soldiers around them to speed up, but he had no choice. He closed the door and laid on its floor, hoping that the armor on the humvee would last long enough.
-
Coraline nodded in response to Shinzuu. When he let go of her, she ran off towards the stairs. "If you don't want to drown, I'd suggest getting to higher ground." She said to Recca as she passed him. She climbed the stairs after Ryan and Tanner. "Hurry up! He's going to need the water very soon!" She said in a hushed tone but loud enough for them to hear her as she followed them.
-
Yamataru and his men slinked through the building, making as little noise as possible. He could hear clanking and rustling from Bravo team's position, doing precisely what they were told...making noise and focusing the escapees' attention from his team. He peered around a door and saw the prisoners heading for higher ground. What're they up to?
Yamataru motioned to one of his men to hand him a grenade, which he promptly threw onto the stairs. With a loud bang the stairs crumbled, cutting off the prisoner's from higher ground.
"NOW!" Yamataru and his men immediately began to open fire on the semi-unaware (they still knew there were soldiers about) ex-prisoners.
-
Leonard shouldered his SCAR and yelled "Open fire! But try to aim for the legs!" as he aimed at a human boy, about 16 years of age.
-
Ryan's eyes gaped as the stairs above his head collapsed soon followed by bullets whizzing past his head. He quickly looked down to the bottom to see that Bloodline were very close behind. Ryan quickly pulled himself up against the wall for cover. He looked around and fixed upon a rusty door that marked the third floor. "Through there!" He yelled before rushing towards it and throwing himself at the center of it. The door broke off its hinges and sent the whole unit along with Ryan crashing to the floor. He looked up and saw the empty and deteriorating office. In the back of the office, there was a line of dusty windows that glowed orange from the fires down in the warehouse. Ryan hoped that they could get a shot from the window. "C'mon!" He yelled as he stood up.
-
Tanner followed Ryan into the office and eyed the windows that oversaw the warehouse. "This should be good." he told Ryan as he broke the glass of the window frame and shouldered his PSG-1. "You better make sure no-one gets in, cuz I don't want to waste a bullet." he added as he got the pipeline in his targeting ridicule.
-
Hissing echoed off the walls,
The Ferals were back, and this time they wanted that meal their senses have been promising them. A small legion of them started crawling down the walls, at both the escapees and the new arrivals.
