Title: Xbox 360 Pro or Elite?
Post by: MortuarySin on April 03, 2010, 10:13:53 PM
I've decided that I want an xbox but I don't know which one to pick. So does anyone here have one that can help me choose? The pro is about $100 cheaper but has a 20GB hard drive and I don't know if that's enough space, and the elite is about $100 more with a 120GB hard drive and I don't know if I actually need that much. :C

That depends entirely upon whether or not if you use your Xbox 360 online and download map packs, videos, games, and other things. If you're just going to play games and save your games on the hard drive, 20GB will be enough, otherwise definitely not enough space.

I would go with the Elite, while the pro is much cheaper the Elite has much more features and special editions often come out for certain games while being the envy amongst your peers.

I myself would rather by a cheap xbox 360 on ebay with just cables to plug it in and hack a 250GB Western Digital 2500BEVT hard drive making it compatible with the xbox 360 and altogether saving about $100 on buying a logo.

Yeah I do plan on downloading lots of stuff. I didn't know about special edition games though.

well theres a few things.
1) Elite is your best choice.
2) the pro is discontinued so it is actually arcade or elite
3) you will have less problems with the elite
4) They now sell 250GP HHD's seperetly.
5) Elites look good next to the original xbox
6) there is no 6
7) 7 is bungies favorite number so lets stop here

now I am being silly so back to seriousness, getting the limited edition MW2 360 should still be available so there's another option.

If you have or intend to purchase a lot of games, and install them to your hard drive like I do, getting the Elite would be a good but (as previously stated) expensive choice. Installing games saves time on loading screens, as much as %20 in time, doing so will also lessen the energy your 360 uses and is easier on the hardware, which is very good because you will be MUCH less likely to have to send it in for repairs. Note that you still need to have the game in the disk drive, so you can't rent a game, install it, then take the disk back.

Yeah yeah, i'm bumping an old topic but I don't wanna make a new one. I'm still looking at getting an xbox. I'm curious, does anyone have a Jasper model? And what's the difference between those and the Falcon models? Or whatever they're called. And should I buy new or go with a refurbished one? C:

I would have to say if you go with any chipset, go for Falcon since appaarently the most recent models have it. Or if you're feeling adventurous, go for the Zephyr chipset 8D.
