Title: Rediscovering old games.
Post by: Resa F on March 23, 2010, 10:29:59 PM
Done this twice recently, whilst waiting for Blazblue to finally make it to EU shores  >:( Firstly, Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Gods that game is as close to perfect as makes no odds. I remember I paid more for the soundtrack than for the actual game, and both were worth every penny  ^_^ . I went through it and now have every single hidden Yashichi... I've also dug out Blinx: The Timesweeper. Another good game, but man it has dodgy hit detection. Any one else dug an old favourite out of your loft/ game collection/ hard drive recently?

Actually, I found my old favourite pastime, Torin's Passage. This game is wicked, old, but very very advanced of a PC game for its time. One of the first Real-Time adventure games out there. It's still really fun, and still really hard. I'm still actually getting stuck right before the final gate, when Torin goes to prison in the world's core. It is a bloody hard game, but soooooo gooood!!! :3

I always always always keep dragging out freespace 2. That game is as close to perfect as God will allow

Then there's Doom. I sometimes pull up an emulation of it and realise all over again how ugly that game is. You fight poop monsters for crying out loud. The very very oldest of old games i sometimes play is like... asteroids... Galaga, i love finding galaga remakes on the internet.

I'd have to say Final Fantasy 8. I can pick it up and not put it down until forced to. Still to this day I find new things and I've beaten in too many times to remember. It is still my favorite, and in my opinion the best game on the Playstation ever.

I recently found myself playing a High Resolution PC remake of the original Duke Nukem 3D game, along with a Windows XP compatible version of the original side-scrolling Duke Nukem games that only had arrow keys to move and spacebar to fire.

OMG go Shinzuu! *Whistles on the sidelines* I love playing 3D Realms other classic hit as well that is named Shadow Warrior with the high resolution packs, it's a really fun FPS game, also has a few features I look for constantly in newer games in modern game consoles like dual-wielding, throwing stars, and other projectile weapons. Unfortunately I have yet to see a new game with all of these together D:

Aw I remember playing those old duke games back on my first ever PC. Those were some brilliant games. My friend didn't know they existed. he thought it all started with Duke3D

I'm just lucky, I guess. Some of the best games out there, I came upon by sheer luck.
