Title: Dreams...? ((not the same as the othere one))
Post by: Self-sain on March 08, 2010, 02:18:16 AM
Ok so I was wandering what your thought on why our body's produce dreams and why they are the topic that they are, and why do you think some of us have thee ability as to control the physical being within the dream and not so much as others. Also as to why they aren't produced every day. I know this is a lot to put in one topic but I didn't think it would be right to post a section of each in this section. Ok so I will voice some of my ideas later as to why I think they are produced but as of know I need to get a shower and relax XD, please be advise that this is for a real thought not something like "I think dreams are made becase it make you all fuzzy inside" you don't have to use some super vocabulary and have statistics to back it up but I would like a probole reason

You actually do dream every day (assuming you sleep, anyway), you just don't always remember them.

Dreams can be a way for your subconscious mind to come in contact with your conscious mind. For me, my dreams have always been a way for my mind to tell me how to be able to cope with my fears.

I would assume that would make rational sense ((you dream every day thing)) so now I guess I will add this why do you rember some and not all, like I remember some from when I was like 7 but not any from the last two weeks ((ack ok I'm leaving ill put my ideas when I'm back XD I keep getting distracted))

Dreams are strange to me. Its like a little movie playing in your face and your the main actor in it.
My dreams become real with in a week some times...well, the ones that don't have monsters wanting to eat me or something.
I dreamed of getting a printer about a week ago. ((I remembered cuz I wrote it down)) Today, I got a free personal printer with a scanner! My moms friend's computer wouldn't read the printer or something...I dunno so it was given to me to see if I can get it to work. I am good with technology so I got it to work smoothly.  B)  B)  B)

It's just how the brain works, and whether or not the dreams are sent to long term memory or not.

I don't remember most of my dreams, but according to my Psychology 101 class we always dream, it's just a matter of remembering. My number one nightmares are black widow attack dreams and labyrinth traps :S.

If you ever take a psychology class, this will be a topic you discuss actually. I'm taking a psych class right now and we went over this a few weeks ago.
There are three different theories about why we dream: A) To process what happened during the day (problem-solving), B ) It's our way to let out our subconscious desires that we don't express while conscious (wish fulfillment), and C) They're the side effects of the neural activation that produces the beta brain waves during REM sleep that are associated with wakefulness.
I believe in all three, actually. I've had dreams that solve problems, ones that fulfill wishes, and ones that don't make any sense whatsoever so they don't apply to the first two.

I was also going to say what Zeph said, about the fact that we always dream and just don't remember them all.
From what I've heard, the reason we don't remember some dreams is because on the nights that we don't remember dreaming, we actually got a good night's rest. If you remember your dreams, you didn't sleep as deeply/peacefully. I'm not sure if it's a fact or not though, but it makes sense.

((And it happens XD T.T ))
I see, I think that dreams had something to do with you mind being left t wander because to me the younger I was thee more dreams I had so and my mind was left to wander and wasn't being used to its potential as I got older I started to think about more about stuff ((such as this, religion, the mind, digimon XD)) and so my mind was a little more preoccupied and had less time to roam and it would o lead into my second theory that the mind also solves problems and stuff like that in your sleep but that was stated and you don't remember those dreams because they where just for your subconscious mind T.T this happens to me a lot when ever I come up with a theory its already been thought up which may be a subconscious thing but it still bothers me
