Ok, so yesterday i met a couple of Furries in my town, real nice guys, but they were homosexual. Now there is nothing wrong with that, and I give them props for being so open about it, but it seems like everyone is Bi or Homo/Les. I just don't get it. I am as straight as a flagpole and it doesn't seem like there are many furries that are. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone should totally fly your "freak flag" (as my dad would call it), it just seems like there are few straight furs.

What I always say is that I think that those who are gay/bi/les feel more welcome and accepted in the furry fandom because we're not a very popular group in the eyes of the public either. I mean, I'm straight, but I do feel more comfortable being myself around people on this site more than people in real life.
There's my two cents. :)

Well according to my Sociology studies, homosexuality and bisexuality are a lot more common than people actually think because not everyone will pursue such culturally unpopular desires simply because they don't want to out of the norm of society and alienated. The furry fandom is a haven for people of all types to be comfortable in my opinion and don't have to feel indifferent because of the wide acceptance of preferences in it :P

that is true, vee and White...
still...
why does straight connotate you "being in the norm"?
-
Because pretty much everyone has believed since the dawn of time that love and marriage was between a man and a woman. I don't believe that it can be called the "norm" really but don't try arguing it with people who are against gay/bi/les people...it just won't work.
-
I don't mean to echo other replies too much but unique subcultures attract unique thinking people. This doesn't always mean just gay/bi/TS people...artists I've noticed who don't like the cookie-cutter style art taught in basic HS classes tend to break that mold and try unique genres such as this one. I would've been in that category but I'm bi so I guess I don't count lol. But yeah, I know a lot of artists in the community as a whole that are straight...
-
lol shiro, dont worry you found another one, im straight too.

and also, why should it matter whether others are bi, les, gay, or straight, It really doesnt matter, we are all furry and thats realy all that matters....

See Shiro? You aren't alone.
