Title: Verses; the Light, the Under, and the Unknown
Post by: Artemis on March 05, 2010, 03:55:52 AM
Zenith was quite easily, and skillfully, stepping from branch to branch as he searched for something to eat in the trees when he heard the clashing of mass swords and armor begin to clash.  Soon afterwards, various loud thuds began to hit the ground.  This time the Under Verse seemed to have brought catapults to the battle.
"Good.  They're thining their own numbers", Zenith said as he plucked a purple-black apple like fruit out of a tree and bit into it.
Lately Zenith had been trying to gather a small force of warriors and various spell casters to help rid these people from these lands.  Unfortunately, too many people have seen the various weapons of war the enemy holds, and fear it.  Too many people fear that the end of their song saught for peace will cease.  Too many people feared death.

After eating the fruit, Zenith began running through the trees to try and catch a glimpse or two of the battle.  The more he knew about how their weapons and such worked, the better he could come up with ways to try and counter them.  Unfortunately, he had no powers to back him up, and at his age he should've gotten a power a long time ago.  Some say he's a stain on their society, others believe that he is simply a late bloomer.  Some plant sniffers start mumbling some crazy stuff about a prophecy, which he really didn't care for.

*White was cleaning the blood off of his blade after piercing it through the heart of an Under verse soldier and licked it off the end* "Blood always tastes good when it is claimed from conquer in battle." *A sly smile spread across his face and he got up from the dead body flipping his balisword closed and quickly noticed a man trying to crawl away* "I love it when they pathetically try to escape." *He licked his lips and opened his pouch and digging his paw into it taking out 4 hira-shuriken* "I love throwing these.." *White gazed upon the steel and his reflection in it and then tossed them across the grass, them whizzing in the wind like bullets as they found their way into the injured lion's back. The man let out a shrill scream and begged for someone to kill him*

"No... you will just have to suffer." *White walked up to him and pulled out the shuriken then licked the blood off of them and cleaned the rest of the taint off of them* "Good luck, you're going to need it kitty." *He laughed and turned around walking away; the lion gurgled and blood spread on the grass as the struggling body eventually went limp from blood loss and the emotionless eyes were left to stare down*

Lok was shooting arrow after arrow at the enemy. This skirmish was ending in his favor. He was happy for that at least. The catapults had been a help.
"Over there!" a passing soldier screamed, as an arrow embedded itself in his armor.
*Another sniper, eh? Eh.... wait for it... AH, there he is!* Lok had spotted a bit of an arrow hiding in a tree, aiming at another soldier. He muttered a few words under his breath, and his armor instantly became transparent. He was like a chameleon, not totally invisible, but as close as he could be. He snuck up into a tree looking behind the Upper sniper. The fool had his back to everything except the battle. Lok snuck over, as quiet as a mouse in the noises of the battle, until he was right on top of him. He knelt on the branch, and unsheathed his long dagger.
"Boo..."
Those were the last words the warrior heard before the dagger went ripping through the back of his neck.
"Never gets old..." Lok muttered to himself as he jumped down from the trees in search of another sniper to kill.

It is Grimsy's first day away from the rookie camp. The army must have been desperate to get the novices to pad out their numbers to look like the stronger force than they are. She noticed that she is still being despised even in the army ranks, her group commander had basically sent her for a suicide mission. A rookie in the middle of the battle field, the rest of her teammates already dead. She was the only one still alive thanks for her best friends noble sacrifice, her friend sacrificed himself to save her from a lethal attack.

"when i make it out of here, i'll make sure your sacrifice wasn't in vain...the commander will pay for what he has done...." she mumbled angrily trying to fend off enemies as well as she could "I refuse to die now! i still have a mission to accomplish!" she shouted as she tried to hold her ground against soldier more experienced than her.

Orphen had been watching the fight, really wanting to try out the weapons that both sides employed. He took off his hood so whatever light there was would help illuminate the battlefield. Bandages covered the entire top of his head and his left eye, his right eye not housing the powers of influence that pushed him down his path in life. He turned around and saw Zenith making his way towards his branch.

Unlike Orphen, Zenith was able to look like 'everyone else' since none of his features were unusual, but his lack of 'power' stuck him in the same area that Orphen was living in. He noticed that Zenith was somewhat resistant to his influence since his attitude never changed when he looked at him. "Hey, I got a spot for you right here, they're just about to send more Light reinforcements!"

Zenith, previously hearing the footsteps of Orphen, hadn't been surprised at all.  He simply turned around and looked at Orphen for a few seconds, before deciding to sit next to him.
"Thanks.  I was heading for the location they usually fight at when trying to take this fort, and I believe I would've missed the battle if you hadn't said anything."
He looked out to see the Catapults just taking down wall after wall, the Under Verse forces' not taking any steps back, but remembering what Orphen had said about Light Verse reinforcements, he looked to the east seeing a sizable army coming in to reinforce the fort, but it might be too late.
"Interesting.  Do you think the Lightlings know they're about to loose this fort, unless by some miracle those catapults get destroyed and that Lightling army gets there within the next minute?"

Lok was watching an obvious novice try and hold her own against an Upper soldier near his tree. She was putting up a valiant fight, but the Upper was slowly gaining ground. She was not going to last.
He lept out of the tree, tackling the soldier, slicing his life out of him. Lok got up, looking at the novice.
"Stick with me kid, you look like you don't belong in this battlefield."
He drew his bow, shooting an arrow into another Upper's neck.
*Why do the Under verse keep sending rookies into the fight... it doesn't help anything. Just gets them all killed*

Grimsy nods hesitantly as the stranger tells her to stay around him and thinks to herself He did take out that soldier... he must be one ours. She thrusts with her rapier at an enemy soldier, hitting him lethally. It was as the soldier made a huge mistake and tried to block in the wrong direction but in was actually her ability tricking him to thinking she was going to strike other way.

*White arrives at the Light Verse fortress and puts his sword back into the sheath on his back looking around for any possible trouble* "Seems like the coast is clear... for now." *White walked into a barracks and placed a gold dubloon on the counter* "Room for one." *The owner didn't question the Light Verse soldier and came back with a key to Quartering Room 201 on the 2nd floor* "Thanks." *White turned around and walked upstairs and opened his room then closed it, disappearing from view as quickly as he had come; White sat down at a chair nearby the door and opened his sword for a moment* "Looks good, just needs some more sharpening." *He brought out a whet stone and began to go to work as he got down on the floor and poured water on the stone then followed up by sliding his sword's blade on the rock over and over again to sharpen it*

Lok skewered another soldier, this time through the skull.
"Kid, the rest of the soldiers have won the fight. Follow me, we need to get to a back area."
He turned, shoving the skewered soldier into a small group of Uppers and turning to run back to the camp. He grabbed the novice and ran.
"You are lucky I came along kid, or you would be a hunk of meat right now."

As they ran she sighed "Lucky...? all of my squad and friends are dead! All because that commander wants me dead!" She shook her head pulling herself together and followed the stranger "who might you be?" She asked curiously, wondering why he didn't want her dead.
She is tormented by flashbacks of her squad dying as they make their way back into a slightly more safe area. While catching her breath she looks down and keeps mumbling about how useless she was, not being able to protect the others.

"Lok Chann... an assasin of sorts... what is this about the commander wanting you dead? He probably needed as many soldiers as he could get his mitts on. Recruits are like cannon fodder to him. Suicide missions, distractions and such. Like I said, you are a very lucky critter. Now there is the basecamp... I am going to have some words with the commander. This is not the first time I have seen recruits sent into battle to be cut down."

*White arrives into town and puts his sword back into the sheath on his back looking around for any possible trouble* "Seems like the coast is clear... for now." *White walked into an Inn and placed a gold dubloon on the counter* "Room for one." *The owner didn't question the Light Verse soldier and came back with a key to Room 201 on the 2nd floor* "Thanks." *White turned around and walked upstairs and opened his room then closed it, disappearing from view as quickly as he had come; White sat down at a chair nearby the door and opened his sword for a moment* "Looks good, just needs some more sharpening." *He brought out a whet stone and began to go to work as he got down on the floor and poured water on the stone then followed up by sliding his sword's blade on the rock over and over again to sharpen it*

((werent you just fighting in the unknown verse?  is so, there aren't any towns.  just forts for soldiers, a heavily guarded portal leading into the Under Verse, and the forests that nobody dare enters because any trespassers are killed.  you have to remember, this is a war.))

Zenith stood up to get a better view of the Light Verse reinforcements.  It was confirmed, there just weren't enough numbers to retake the fort at this point.  The under verse attacking force was much too powerful at this point.  Zenith reached down to grab another fruit, but he pulled out two and offered one to Orphen by holding it out in front of him.

Orphen smiled as he snatched the fruit and quickly ate it up. "You know, I think we could dismantle those catapults and make it back here before they finish the fight... you up for a race?" He smiled at Zenith, then got up on both feet and stretched. "I bet all of the fruit in this tree that I can take down more catapults than you..."
Title: Re: Verses; the Light, the Under, and the Unknown
Post by: Artemis on March 05, 2010, 11:31:13 PM
Zenith stood up, not needing to stretch for he had been previously running, and is warmed up.
"I cant take you up on that bet because I've no idea what your capabilities are.  I will however help you in taking down those catapults.  It should be fun, room to stretch, etc.", he said as he tightened the straps on his Double-blade gauntlet.
All I can really do with this is cut all the ropes, rendering them imobile.  Besides, there were seven catapults, and other eyes probably watching this.  If he and Orphen get seen, it'll be all over the Medial Verse in a matter of days.  That would only assist in what Zenith was trying to do, which happened to be to gather up a sizeable force to eliminate this war once and for all.
"You take the four farthest left, I'll take the three farthest right.  I'm not really in a competitive mood today.  Perhaps some other time?" he said as he got into a crouching position, ready to take off.

"The Lightnings are sending reinforcements, the cowards need more men to die before they realize we'll send them back to hell!" Tyran yelled to his assembled host of Klint'Feras Dragoons.

The troops raised their weapons in a "HAOOO!" and marched as he thrust his claymore outwards.

Glancing backwards he turned around to greet General Katadias.

"M'lord... my army was decimated by the Lightlings.... it's the fault of those bloody recruits I tell you!"

"Your the one sending the recruits on suicide runs?"

"Yes M'lord.. is there a problem?"

Tyran grabbed the man by the neck and dragged him over to some beaten, battered, and wounded recruits.

"The Problem GENERAL... is that your needlessly endangering the lives of future Dragoons. And anyone who hampers the Dragoons is to be considered a traitor... and you know what traitors get..."
The recruits all brandished weapons and they all began shouting for the General's blood, who glanced over pleadingly at Tyran to let him live.

"I have made my decision!" Tyran Declared, and all went silent, at least they were silent before he threw Katadias to the bloodthirsty recruits, who promptly tore him to shreds.

Orphen frowned, but his hood hid his sad eyes. "Aw... you're no fun..." he said in a fake tone of crying, and then quickly smiled before leaping off the branch and opening the bandage on his eye, its arcane yellow glow and symbolic shapes that radiate around it giving him a temporary guise of a feral bird's shadow as he took flight to the first catapult.

Zenith smiled a bit and then leaped forward, preparing to cut down any who got in his way.
"Perhaps another time", he whispered to himself as he pounced on a Lightling soldier, then rose and continue to ran.  He may be a stealth fighter, but out in the open, in a desert, made it hard to do his job.  Several soldiers, including those who had been previously fighting, saw Zenith take down two soldiers that got in his way.  He may not have any powers, but Zenith was a tip-top fighter.

Lok ran into the camp and deposited the novice.
"You find someplace to heal up. Go see to the other novices. I am going to have a talk with the general..."
He dashed through the camp, his feet barely touching the floor, his tail swaying behind him. He caught just the end of the tearing to shreds of the previous general. He walked up to the new one, and promply bowed.
"Specialist Lok Chann, sir. Seem like you did my job for me. I wanted to put an end to that son of a cuss myself... I just saved another one of his "cannon Fodder' novices."

Grimsy makes her way into the camp and gets herself checked at the medic, nothing too bad few cuts and bruises.
After being checked she finds a place to sit down outside the camp where she started going through the days events in her head, having heard that the general has been brought to justice she sighs it was not by my hand but you have been avenged she thinks as she looks at a picture displaying what used to be her team that is now just a pile of corpses on the battlefield.

"its been one dissapointing day...we lost, how am i going to help when im this weak and hardly even can swing a sword? Hopefully i find a better teacher or at least the next general could be a little more.... sane" She rests her arm on her sword feeling uneasy of what will come next.

Orphen got to the first catapult, and launched himself at it, wrapping his arms around the hinges and wedging them out with his claws. He kept doing this until the catapult launcher itself fell straight down, causing it to no longer work. But, he was soon discovered as the effort drained the potency of his Eye of Influence, and had to avoid the attacks of Under.

*After completing a sharpening of the blade white gets up and leaves at nightfall out of the barracks and through the gates of the fortress at nightfall* "Find enemy, destroy enemy and profit is made. My commanding officer always said that, I often wonder if it was true at all because I always seem to make the same amount of money no matter how many Under Verse I kill." *White walks some distance approaching a battle area again* "Quality over quantity, one person can make a difference as to how the battle ends. I like being that person." *White said as he crawled through underbrush and was at the top of the hill below a group of soldiers*

"Take no prisoners.. my commanding officer never told me that but I like to fill in the blanks." *He laughed to himself and pulled out his bo-shuriken*

Zenith had reached his first catapult just as Orphen did.  Unlike Orphen, he went for the main rope of the contraption.  After cutting the rope, the catapult nearly collapsed in on itself, but there was a second rope keeping the thing together.  Next thing he knew, Zenith found himself fighting a few Underlings.  Only blocking the attacks, Zenith worked his way up to the second rope, although he did so very slowly.

The markings on Effie's snout glowed steadily red as she sighed, running a hand through her blonde-pink-then-blue hair. The markings were tellers of her mood, though in the opposite way one would imagine. Rather than red signifying anger, it meant sadness.

Not that long ago, not at all, one of her Scribes had died in battle.

She hadn't been trying to fight.

She'd been trying to put an end to it.

But the tyrants who had killed her didn't care about that. They didn't care about a young- oh GODS so young -woman who held up her hand and told them to stop, please stop. Told them to end this, please end this. Violence leads to hatred, the young one had said. And hatred never succeeds. Then, when the tyrants didn't listen, she had attempted a binding spell to lock their feet in position. Stop. Just listen to me. This isn't going to get you far at all. There's still hope that we can join hands, that we can stop...

Then. CRACK. The Scribe's head had been torn off in a snap. The spell she had tried to read failed. And while she was looking down at her book, she was killed.

Effie still felt 100% responsible for her death. Try as the other Scribes might to convince her otherwise, it was Effie who sent that girl into the middle of that battle, and it was Effie who told her the words to say, the spells to use.

She shifted in her position resting on the branch, the rough tree trunk scratching her bare back, and looked down below. The Peaceable Scribes had at last found a nice camping spot, under the silvery shadows of Becunla trees, a brook babbling calmly a few yards away. The girls had a fire set up. There was food, freshly killed deer. There were sleeping bags. There was still light enough to read and practice spells. What there wasn't enough of...was hope.

Orphen moved like a prehensile liquid, swaying in and out of the Underlings' attacks before running towards another catapult, leaping onto the top of it, then leaping down to the front two beams, his decent plus his downward kick having enough force to snap through the beams and cause the catapult to "fire" into the ground in front of it. He was about to be attacked by an Underling with twin hand-axes, but Orphen spun around and turned up the influence of his eye. It turned the Underling into a warrior drunk on indiscriminate bloodlust, but also making Orphen invisible to him.

The Underling let out a roar as it engaged his 'comrades', most of them dying because they couldn't snap out of the shock of seeing their ally and possible drinking buddy turned against them. Orphen used the diversion to make his way to the next catapult....

Zenith had already made it to his second catapult, cutting both of the ropes, and looking back the first one to see if anybody was alive when he made the catapult collapse on them.  Sure it wasnt pretty, but it got the job done.  Zenith didn't exactly have to worry about Underling troops at this point because Orphen had used his pretty little eye on one of the soldiers, and he was killing everybody.  Zenith, instead of watching the carnage, took advantage of the distraction and headed to his last catapult, where he would complete his job, and then flee back to the woods.

"Archers.... kill those trouble makers!" He Ordered as his troops obeyed and readied their bows.

"Worthless scum... they're ruining everything!"

The Archers had strung their bows, and took aim at Zenith , Orphen, and the crazed man separately.

"FIRE!"

At Tyran's order, 50 arrows sang towards their separate targets, each whistling it's desire to kill the trouble makers.

(gab has forced my pre-planned, previously hibernating, and previously planned powa!... and yes i said pre / previously planned twice to add emphasis on my actual thinking aheaded... ness... yea!)

Zenith heard a small whistling in the air as he tried his best to engage the final catapult.  As he looked up he nearly (bleeped) himself as a volley of arrows came rushing at him.  As they reached their half way mark, the surrounding soldiers started backing up, not wanting to die from their own arrows.  As the little stingers of doom approached, and the soldiers surrounded Zenith, so he wouldnt be able to run, Zenith started saying bye to the fruit he loves so much.  As they nearly hit, Zenith closed his eyes, and used his arms to cover his face so that he would become identifiable after death.

Zenith opened his eyes, and saw a semi-spherical blue, octogonish shield thing making a semi-sphere around him.  Well part of him.  The shield was only big enough to protect all the major limbs and such and block the majority of the arrows and such, but he did in fact get shot in the foot.  Of all places, an arrow hit his foot.  Thankfully, the arrow hit a bone, and not through the foot and into the ground.

Zenith looked at his foot, said "ow" in a very angered voice and looked up to see some soldiers scared (bleep)less.  One of the men had passed out, and grass had started to grow from his back, slowly showing through kinks in his armor.

*The four bo-shuriken flew across the air zooming toward their targets, their heads unturned and so fragile, yet so inviting to the sharp metal blades about to become their skull neighbors forever..* "GAAAHHHH!!!" "ACCK ack.. ugh...." *3 of the 4 soldiers from the Under Verse fell and only one remained, White got up from the grass* "You ready to die?" *White flipped his knife open as he walked towards the lone soldier while his allies writhed on the ground in pain and the other one was still and silent, his blood soaking into the soil* "Not by your hands you foul beast!" *The soldier took a sprint, his boots gliding off the ground and soil flying as he came at the wolf full throttle* "I love the quick.." *White flipped open his balisong and let the soldier come at him hitting his blade everytime, but always rebounding the attack back* "Just not strong enough." "Shut up!" *He raised his sword in the air and White saw his chance* "Too slow.." *Slice* "No.." *He fell to the ground with the sword in his hands still*

"You can't win now, just die." "Hardly going to do that for you pig!" *He raised the sword for a slash and cut White's arm* "Ugh!" *The wolf jumped back and the other soldier got up with his intestines falling out on the ground* "You.." "I'll be dead soon, but not until I'm done with you." *He coughed up blood and made a step forward at the wolf* "I'm sorry, but it's over.. NOW." *White tosses a boot knife into his neck and he falls over bleeding on the ground* "Stupid soldiers." *White walked away wrapping a bandage on his arm and picked up the blades out of the soldiers on the ground that had bled to death* "I should do this more quickly, they are taking it much more seriously than I expected.." *White walked away into the bushes and laid down for a few moments to gather up some strength for more unsuspecting soldiers to come by* "Those dead bodies ought to cause more to come in this area.." *He laughed evilly to himself*

Lok, leaving the ecstatic general, was sitting in a tree watching a fight between a wolf upper and another under solider. He decided to give the under a chance, but he seemed to be outmatched. The soldier was on the ground, bleeding from a neck wound as the Upper hid in the bushes.
*He isn't going to get far... not with me around...*
Lok slid out of the tree, as silent as a wind. He moved down to him quietly, then proceded to slice his enemies heels so he would be crippled, and stabbed a small poison laden dart into the wolf's neck.
"Night night, upper. Don't try to resist... you won't be able to walk... not until our healers take a look at you."
He chuckled at the wolf as he looked around franticly.
"Don't worry, the poison won't kill you, just make you paralyzed and fall asleep." he whispered.
He waited for the poison to get to full effect, tied up his limbs (just in case), and went over to help the soldier but found him close to death.
'Help me...'
"You are lucky you came across a healer... of sorts..."
He pressed a small pad with a salve on the neck.
"You bled a lot, but if we can get you back to base, you will be fine. Can you walk?"
'In a minute... thanks... just ... drag me off the open road...'
Lok did so, and went back to the wolf.
"Now you stay here. This guy will have a cross bow on you at all times, so don't move. We wouldn't want that head of yours split in half, now would we?"
Lok dusted himself off, and went to find a patrol.

Having no clue when the next wave would start Grimsy walked around the base, looking around if she could help with anything since she needed to build up some trust with the people. Her crimson red eyes were always considered a curse. This is why everyone always stayed away from her, some even have tried to kill her because of that. Little did they know these "cursed eyes" possessed a potent ability of creating illusions which has kept her safe so far.

She found her way into the tent where they kept the wounded, there she assisted the healers to cure some of the wounded. i really should be training to make something out of myself... at this rate i wont survive another wave of attacks she thought as she assisted a healer to lessen a pain of a critically injured soldier.i guess best way to gain trust would be training to be a healer....but i dont think i have what it takes.. she continued thinking as she looked sad for a moment.

Orphen saw the arrows for a brief moment, then skidded to a stop, letting the arrows fly past him, then started running again. He continued to stop and start until he reached the next catapult, then repeated the last process he did on the last one. This time, he didn't stop after breaking the beams and continued to run to the next catapult.

At the last catapult he decided to be somewhat more childish. He broke the beams like before, but instead of the catapult hitting the ground, he pushed it up with his hind legs while pushing againt the ground. The force of the catapult sent it up in the air, letting it flip before hitting the ground completely demolished. "Take that Underverse!!" he yelled before running off into the woods with a wide grin on his face.

Feeling quite at odds with the worlds, really truly so, Effie leaped deftly down from the tree, landing next to one of her oldest and dearest Scribe members. Uryuyu. She was about ninety years of age, a silver wolf with hair gradually turning white and a smile that could melt any heart. "Feeling better?" Uryuyu asked.

"Not really," Effie grumbled, and sat next to her on the blanket.

Giving her a sympathetic smile, Uryuyu continued to brush out her ancient hair. In her lap rested a spell book flipped open to a page on disarment. At their feet the fire crackled with a pink-orange intensity. "It'll be alright. You'll see."

"Oh, but these Underlings, and the Light Verse...its like our Verse has been ripped apart at the seams, inviting in a whirlwind of violence."

"Things like this happen. They have to. If you never know war, then you never know peace, am I right?"

Effie nodded, then glanced around at her gaggle of Scribe females. Across the other side of the fire were the younger girls, the youngest of all being Sarah, who was twelve. To either side were the adults, most of which shared the same solemn attitude Effie possesed. Effie a-hemed. The marks on her nose went orange, meaning she was serious. "As you all know, we recently lost one of our own to this war." Everyone murmured in saddened agreement. "She was young. Had barely set foot into life. Barbarians killed her in cold blood, not even letting her finish speaking. And it has hurt us as a whole. It has shown us the 'real world' of battle......" Her eyes narrowed at them. "This is why I have come to the descision that we start practicing the Spells of the Oracles."

That certainly went over like a ton of bricks.

Tyran's eyebrow twitched as he rubbed his temple..

"I hate that guy.... whoever he is..." he mumbled to himself before he summoned his bodyguard Zedonious to his side.

"Yea boss?"
"Take command while i'm gone... i need to light a camp fire."
Zedonious looked confused then quickly saluted
" YES SIR!" he yelled

Tyran marched off to the edge of the woods, his sapphire eyes twinkling in the sunlight, causing people to be blinded. Mumbling a few words of the arcane, a small wisp of fire appeared on his right index finger. Chanting more words and the fire got bigger and bigger, to the size of a Ms. Piggy Ball. Hurling the ball at the woods he set it aflame. Just standing there, he let the light shine off his armor.
Making him look like a demon out of your own nightmares.

"Never hide in the woods.... Unknown Troublemaker..."

(why the crap is one soldier growing grass through himself?)

Lok had followed the armored being into the forest. There he was casting a spell that was horrifying, but not more so than the insane spirits Lok worshiped. He stayed in the tree, his own smaller totem spirits, who looked like little blotches of ink scrawled into the air, floated around him, whispering ideas into his head. Lok knew that the General would notice him soon, or sense the under spirits.
He decided to be patient. He had found a pack of guards who had taken the prisoner back to the base camp.
He was in no hurry.

Orphen had got deep into the woods, and then heard words bieng spoken by someone he was slowly starting to be familiar with. Realization appeared in his eyes and his grin got wider as he got over to her area, and saw a group of females that set up camp there. His eyes scanned for a certain woman, and spotted her as the speaker. He stayed stealthy until he got to her side of the camp, then sneaked up on her he shouted "'Big Sis' Effie!!" as he wrapped his arms around her waist and shook her from side to side. His sudden 'appearance' spooked the other grils, and his eye only made the situation worse. One girl threw a rock at him, and the rest made movements to tackle him off, but Orphen tightened his leg muscles and leaped up onto a tree branch. "No, this is my Big Sis, no throwing rocks!!" he yelled in an unusually childish voice, while holding Effie like a bride carried by her groom. Although, Orphen had no such thoughts, as Effie was the closest thing he could have to a sister.

Zenith couldn't help but take advantage of the scared soldiers surrounding him.  He quickly jumped over their ranks to approach the next catapult, but as he did he saw a heavily armored man talk to what was his obvious subordinate, and then begin to walk away.  Zenith couldn't help but be suspicious, so he abandoned his previous target, and rushed back as quickly as possible to the forest, trying to find Orphen, wherever he had gone.
"ORPHEN!!" he yelled as he entered the woods, his light green eyes flickering everywhere.

"Orph-" Effie started to say, before she was so quickly picked up and taken up into a tree, her hair and tail flapping in the resultant breeze. Blushing, she made sure her sarong was straight and even. She looked up, directly at Orphen's face, eyes narrowed, ears back, a gravely snarl forming in the base of her throat.............and then she stuck her tounge out at him and smiled widely. The marks on her nose went an instant green, green for joy. "What the heck do you think you're doing?" she demanded jokingly. "That is no way to treat a lady, now put me down this instant or I'll have to put a spell on you..."

"Throwing rocks is worse, but your friends don't seem to mind having you in the way." Orphen replied before jumping down and standing her back up. By this time some of them had gotten weapons and threw up barriers, thinking that Orphen's eye was some form of demonic curse. "Something is clearly wrong with this... why are you associated with this thing?!" such a reply came from one of her followers, and Orphen wasn't even phased, even though he did not appreciate the insult in the slightest.

Grimsy was for the first time making a good use of her power as she calmed down the patient the healers were healing using illusions. She was enjoying the work so far, being able to be finally some use to people. She got some praise from one of the healers and she responded to this: "If you need my help, just look me up, i'd be glad to help."

She leaves the medic tent, having no clue where to go next. To see if there is a new general perhaps? or to seek out the commander himself and ask him for training.

Effie looked around at her followers with utter disdain. They were acting insanely unusual, and most definatley acting against the ways of The Peaceable Scribes. "Stop!" she growled. "What did Orphen do to you? And where, might I ask, in my teachings, have I ever said that it's okay to react first thing by running for your weapons? You don't know why he's here. Likely you don't even know who he is. There's no reason for this. And, to you..." she looked then at the woman who had spoken up. "He's not a 'thing.' He's my brother in heart. You understand that?" Effie put all of her gathered effort into a serious stare....she meant what she said.

"Its useless to reason with them sis.... my eye threw me into the ranks of the stealth fighters..." he brought his voice to a whisper as he continued on. "But watch what happens if I look at one of them long enough..." Orphen startes directly at the possible 'leader' of the quickly formed mob, and a blush crosses her face as she tries to avert her eyes. She mumbles a few words, and the rest have brief moments of disbelief before disbanding and sitting down. He looked back at Effie, his eye calming her down slowly even though it seemed unnervingly unnatural. "Don't worry sis. I won't do that to you, well... unless you request it..." he said with a calm smile as he sat on all fours next to her.

Zenith stumbled in through some bushes, holding a fruit in his hand.  "Orphen, we may have a serious problem.  I just saw a heavily armored Underling start walking to the forest right now!  And believe me, he didn't look happy!" Zenith said in an excited tone as he ate his fruit.  Afterwards he looked around and realized that these were the Peaceable Scribes. "Oh by the way, I think I finally got my own ability.  I've no idea how to control it though, but i guess there's always room to learn."

"Thank you...for that," Effie said, both reffering to his calming her squad down, and to his promise. She sat next to him, curling up, enjoying the tingling, warm feeling of the fire that was so close by.

She heard Zenith coming before he even arrived and turned to face him as he stumbled onto the campsite. "Welcome," she said, smiling.

The fire in the forest blazed onwards, encroaching ever closer to the unknown peoples, engulfing the native wildlife itself in it's never pick favorites jaws.

The General looked up, and saw a spy, of his own side.

"Let that be a lesson to you... spread the word... no traitors... no tomfoolery in my army!"

Shiro jumped down from the tree.
"The word will be spread. However, the reason I came was because we have caught a prisoner. One of the Light. We are holding him back at the base."

Zenith sniffed the air for a moment.  "I smell... smoke..  Oh great!  Orphen, all you other people here, we may have an issue.", Zenith said as he jumped up into a tree and went to the top to get a better.  What he saw after that was horrifying.  The forest was burning, and quickly.  Zenith jumped back down next to Orphen and said, "Either we put out the forest fire, or we get our (beep)s outa here!"

Orphen looked up with some concern, but not much to be visibly obvious, and picked up Effie again before walking to the others. "Unless you have any abilities that can shoot massive amounts of water... I suggest we run" he said before turning back around and climbing back up to the tree-tops, and moving away from the smoke he saw in the sky.

"Guys, move it or lose it!" Effie hollered behind and below her. "We can't interfere, not to mention our abilities with water aren't strong enough."  Following her orders, the Peaceable Scribes gathered themselves into some sort of patchwork group, starting to run away from the sight of the grey mass of smoke. Nervously, she held tighter to Orphen.

Orphen was too busy looking back to see that he was rapidly advancing towards a tree. But, when Ellie held tighter, he suddenly turned back around fast enough to not only see the tree, but make three silent curses, close his eyes, and brace for an impact...

An impact that never occoured. He opened his eyes and saw no tree in front, only the branches he was instinctively leaping across. "We did hit a tree... right?"

Zenith showed up next to Orphen and said, "You didn't hit the tree, or else you might just be on fire at the moment."  Zenith managed to grab a few fruits and were now holding them in his hand.  He wanted to make sure that the forest would survive somehow.

(btw gab when i said that i saw you walking towards the forest, i didnt mean that you were walking in it, just in the general direction.)
