Title: Your High School Stereotype Discussion Board
Post by: Shinzuu Katame: Her Tolfy on March 01, 2010, 02:19:42 PM
Hey everyone! This is the place to share what kind of high school stereotype you were and discuss it with everyone else!

In high school, I was the geek that everyone picked on that started nerdy clubs. In my case, I had started the anime club and the trading card club (Played lots of Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh).

I'm a senior in high school right nao!

I'm not really a nerd though.  I'm more mixed in with everybody.  I have friends in every group.  However, I do hangout with the people that play Yugioh the most.  I love that game.

Some guy actually walked past us the other day and said, "Hey, it's the nerd herd."  All I could think was wow did Seto Kaiba just walk past us?

lolz. in college, i was called the neo-kaiba because i started our card club there, too, and i had all my cards up for trade and decks in different tins and carried them all in a suitcase.

I don't really know which stereotype I was. I wasn't really a jock, prep, emo, goth, nerd, etc. I was just "normal", I guess. Of course, there weren't really many stereotype "cliques" in my small school...mainly just different groups of friends that you couldn't stereotype.

I guess I was more of a computer geek, I loved fixing computers, toying with gaming consoles and modding portables. I could have made so much money if I charged people for half of the stuff I did and I was very annoyed with the fact that I had helped the high school fix ENTIRE lab carts of laptops and I got absolutely NO credit NO scholarships for all of that work. I still do not like Central Valley High School >:(.

I was pretty much an outsider, but was more ignored than teased and had a few close friends that hung out all the time with me, during lunch, on the steps in the Art Hall. I was the school weirdo: a combination geek, emo, pervert, psycho, neo and girly-girl. But I had my buds, so I was good to go despite my outsider qualities.  B)

I had like one or two friends as well, I too had that "outsider" status, but that changed easily for all of those who actually cared to speak with me. I did help out with whatever I could when I was offered the opportunity on campus which also gave me that "Medic" personality rating and more annoyingly called "Softy" by a couple of friends. I did participate in the GSA *Gay-Straight Alliance* ~In secret~, NHS *National Honor's Society*, Art Club for one year, Film Club and SkillsUSA ~By force once >.>... but at least I got a United States Senator's approval letter~.

I felt like I contributed something worth while to the school when I left. A couple of my works made it to art shows from Computer Graphics class; the "Xbox" and "Planets" photos in my art section were the ones that made the cut. In Multimedia class I helped the teacher a lot with how to use the Adobe programs and I even contributed several new methods to use Dreamweaver for the beginners at school. I was the only student to take Web Page Design II on the campus in my graduating year which gave me that "over-achiever" nickname among some peers even though I was definitely not Valedictorian just above average. At last I did aid several students in Web Page Design on their projects and hosted two websites for a period of 6 months for a catering business and the Central Valley Film Club which still exists today.

I'm told that I annoy a lot of people because they can't stereotype me.  Personally, I'd have to agree with them.  I don't fit in a specific spot.  I'm 100% all original me.  Nobody's really caught onto the tail though  :P

I am currently in high school. I am good with the technology so I hang around computers and stuffs. well, I use to hang around there till I started hanging by the security kiosk. The security is really nice. Anyway, I am around some peoples who act a little strange. Its hard not to have fun around them. I usually don't know what to say so I am quiet most of the time. I like looking out the windows a lot.

None, really. Although people seem to call me "emo" based... off my hair, which is never over my eyes, and my playing of musical instruments... Apart from that I don't see where I fit into them.

Film student who really wants to Film
'just there' kid
and hilarious comedian to some of the freshmen

Nah not the stinky kid (i shower and brush teeth and all o that goodness, just not comb, hair falls naturally into place)

just the kid who's there, trying to get through the day without causing a problem for anyone.
Knowing my luck something happens.

And we got an unofficial Yugioh club at my school.

it's wierd cause some members dress up in Fedora's and pea coats, and have a table just randomly away from all the noise in the middle of the hallway

I've got a blue coat i like to wear when I'm dueling that looks strangely like that of mr. Joey Wheeler.  My nickname at school is actually Jounochi, probably because he is my favorite character and I've modeled my deck like the one he used in the show.

Nyeh?

I wouldn't say i fit into the yugioh group at my school though because they truely are losers (and i hate to say that) with the absolute worst sense of humor i have ever heard.  I hang out with cooler yugioh group, the one with jobs and whose lives don't constantly revolve their cards.

Cool. I normally wear my Air Force cover whenever I duel nowadays, but I wore my old, white trench coat back in college when I was dueling.

Now I'm just a loner. But I dont mind, now I am more like the way my fursona used to be then ever.

I listen to techno, trance, house, etc.

I listen to good underground

Im still in high school and I fall under the Chavs/Hardnuts/Jocks as well as the Geeks/Nerds/Freaks/Weirdos. I fit in with all, mainly cause what i do and how I act, cause im always getting in trouble at school so smoking on the premises or mouthin-off when i feel im in the wrong, but I also know how to have a laugh and mess around, It's kinda like I have multiple personalities, But I would say Im more of a Chaek (Chav - Geek)

Well, I must admit I was amoung the Yu-Gi-Oh pack back in the day as well, had a bazillion cards, and still have them stored somewhere but I don't remember how to play anymore.  >:( :'( >:(

I tried to play as Anzu Mazaki. (Tea.) She always seemed a strong female role model. I was more into the anime than actually dueling, and followed every episode religiously after school and on saturday mornings.

High school Senior.  My classification was the "Don't talk to him...you might lose a limb" kid.  Everyone at my school is terrified of me.  Even the bullies, who still pick on me, bow out whenever I get too mad.  Just last month, some new "gangsta" style kid decided to insult me and challenge me to a fight.

I don't know what he was thinking before hand but later he was defininently thinking.  "Where the heck did he get the club?"  I nearly caved his skull in with a broken mop handle.  I was suspended but he's not trash talking anymore.

well, i guess i'm the kid who, as many of oyu have, plays yugioh. still do play it at lunch. I hate the fact that the kids who steal get the better cards... i'm considered to be a nidiot, although others cannot fathom the depths of my mind. I'm mentally unstable. If people PO me enough, i get back at em. I'm merciless, but very tolerant. You cross the threshold, you get: A. reported to the authorities B. the crap beaten out of you C. the crap annoyed out of you, or D. all of the other choices.

I can't stand the people who are all talk and no bite. i'm going to call them out just to prove that they are full of Human crap. They try, i prove they can't take me down.

I'm going do get myself killed, aren't i?

I wouldn't know the term "protected"
I've always been antisocial, and very timid. I overcame that with some speech classes, but the military life has not helped with the making friends got long times. By the time i make friends, i gotta move. It's painful to move all the time, leaving old friends and having to make another gamble to make new ones.

I dunno, I guess I was stereotyped as a looser or something. I guess you have to be noticed to fill a stereotype. I can almost promise you that close to EVERYONE I graduated with does not know who I am. Yes I went to school with them for over 12 years, and no one knows who I am. Sad really.

Well I had a few friends in high school too. Heck even when they had the senior slide show I wasn't in it. Why? Because I was took vocational class (commercial art) at another school. So when they asked for senior pictures, I was never there. Then when we had the award ceremony and had the slid show showing, my parents were pissed. We wasted 3 hours sitting there, to NOT see me get anything or even acknowledged.

When people did notice me it was never good. Some popular kid trying to make me look bad or make fun of me. MAN I wish I could see them now.

So yea I guess I was an invisible outcast, one who's only purpose is to make some popular jerk look better to everyone else.

Oh, and I know I said that I didn't really fit one stereotype, but I figure that I might as well mention that my brother (who is four years older than me so we weren't in high school at the same time) once said that he'd classify me as "punk". I don't see what's so punk about me but hey, it's not an insulting stereotype in my eyes either. ^_^

Seeing that my high school career is almost over, I guess I can say I was an "everyone" kind of person. Although this meant no one really bothered me, it was bittersweet. I couldn't really express myself like I wanted to and it usually left me feeling empty inside. I felt like I needed to stay in a "box" the whole time. I doubt I'll see most of my acquaintances I've met in grade once I go off to college so maybe it didn't matter either way.

It's not always that easy, I myself have social anxiety. It can over whelm me at times, I have gone into panic attacks. And being nice to people doesn't always work. Some people just hate you because your you. No real rhyme or reason to it, *shrugs* Everybody is just different, I'd still rather have a few close friends vs a lot of sort of friends.

Yea had a room mate in college like that. 2 years of suck. Worst part was she got everyone to turn on me, all because she wasn't the center of attention all the time. I can make friends by being me, she had to be a big you know what to get people to like her. So it was like after my 4 years of high school, I got to deal with it for 2 more years.

hey, sain

what if you get a boss that is like that? My dad is always telling me to be nice to everyone, because the sooner you get used to people, the sooner you are accepted everywhere.

Scenario:
You go into work one day, you hate your job, but it is ok because you need the dough. Your current boss gets a promotion, and guess who is the new boss... some random dude who is everything you hate. He hates you, you hate him, but there is nothing you can do about it. You can't quit just because of a boss, you wouldn't be able to get a job anywhere else. You just give him no reason to fire you. Finish your work, get to a point where you can complain, and try to find an angle on your boss.

It helps a world picture too.

Why must we feel to always "fit" in a place of society? Why do we accept labels that are giving to us? Its a curse. Even the children act upon it, who should not know any better. One day you have five or six friends and then you go and perice your ears or tattoo you're face, maybe dye your hair and then . . . your treated diffrently. Certain people are drawn away from you and certain people a drawn to you. Why must we have that feeling to be the same? The lust for identically?

Please stay on topic people.

This is here to discuss what your stereotype was/is, not to complain about others because they don't/didn't act the way you think they should/should have.

I didn't really fit into a 'type', I wasn't cool enough be one of the cool kids by a long shot, my school didn't have a lot of straightforward castes, I was just in a small circle of friends in our own small group.

I guess I'd be an emo. I have only a few close friends at school. Everyone else there just irritates me to no end. I wear black/hoodies all the time. And my hair always seems to fall over my eyes.
