“My son’s in town somewhere,” Carol lied, a small, twisted part of her glad that the mayor was murdered. If he hadn’t of been murdered the night before, then he would’ve spilled everything to the agents ad Carol’s son would be left high and dry. Currently, he was locked up in his room— where only the dearest of friends and family were allowed to visit.
“Don’t be a stranger, then,” the agent said, stepping back from the doorway. “Soon as he gets home, you give us a call. Procedure is that everyone must be tested.”
Carol wondered why exactly the CIA would ever let a man with such a scruffy appearance and redneck accent join their ranks. From the clumsy way he drew her blood earlier, to the bare-line little he knew about his own Agency, she could tell he wasn’t brilliant. Rubbing his wiry beard, he smiled at her, nodding, then proceeded to make his way across the front porch and down the stairs, toting his briefcase – a vial of Carol’s blood hidden inside – with him.
Relieved, she pulled the door shut. Taped to the crook of her elbow was a cotton ball. It was dotted with little red specks, specks that pooled into larger spots as her blood let. The agent had been fairly careless and brutal with the needle, jabbing it in, ripping it out, and leaving her with a tiny but gaping wound.
She went to sit on the living room couch, where she had the best view of the front wall. She grabbed her cup of pink lemonade and propped her legs up on the glass coffee table. Her cabin was by no means a modest one: two stories, a-frame, gleaming wood beams. Massive, specially cut windows smothering the front wall, leaving only a small space for the door. Plasma television. Marble counters and barstools in the kitchen. Leather sofas. Best of all, it had a great view of the small meadow, and, past that, the serene Dolores river.
Eleven years of extreme dedication to being a Vegas showgirl had paid off in thousands for her. But she wasn’t proud. Carol still worked, night shifts at the local café, just to keep herself sane and to make sure she didn’t get spoiled. Her husband had died in a motor accident when their son was six.
“That’s it, keep leaving,” she whispered.
She watched through the cabin’s giant front windows while the agent left. He climbed inside his black SUV. So still was the spring air that she could hear the car door slam, even from inside.
Then he finally left, turning the SUV around in the narrow gravel driveway and taking off into the forest of Quaking Aspen. If she stared at the trembling volley of white tree trunks and silver-green leaves for a few minutes, then past them she would see his SUV emerging from the tiny forest, crossing the bridge over the river and pulling out onto the highway.
But she didn’t have the time to watch him leave.
Because, at that very moment, her son cried out so loudly it jolted her, and violently at that: ”Mom!....Mom!”
Carol set down her cup and jumped to her feet. She made a mad dash for Jordan’s room, flinging the door wide open and bursting onto the scene- Jordan, her son, face down on the floor, breathing in the odor of the dusty carpet.
“Baby, oh, baby,” she cried. “What happened?”
He tried to get up on his own, but the ten-year-old was too weak, feeble. He was gasping for breath. Dusty brown hair in disarray. Blue eyes wide and scared. Skin so deathly pale it was tragic. She set to getting him back into bed immediately.
“Honey, baby,” she sobbed, “I told you that if you needed something you should call me. You’re too sick to get up on your own. What happened?”
“I was trying to get some water…so thirsty, but I didn’t want to call you because that guy was out there.”
Carol’s heart twanged. She shouldn’t have been so quick to judge. Her boy could be smarter than her sometimes. She gave him an apologetic look and got him a glass of filtered water from the kitchen tap. But when she came back, her boy was curled up into the fetal position, where bed met wall, mumbling:
“The unicorn. I’m turning into a unicorn, mom…”

Griffin was crouched over his computer, many different conspiracy theory forums and chatrooms open. He flew through the keys, typing to everyone at once. The moment he and his friends had noticed the FBI suits around the town, he started getting together a information group trying to find out everything they knew. He, Ian, Jacob, and Rheannon (a bunch of his nerd friends) were talking on phones, typing, or fixing computers. They had set up in the town's local internet Café and were using up as many resources as they had to find out what was going on. Pizza boxes, makeshift equiptment thrown together to make a failed radio, a sattelite detection grid that was smoldering, and a server of computers that hummed in the corner. It wasn't a quiet room.
"I know.... I know, we don't know what it is" Jacob, a portly fellow, was talking into a phone loudly to one of his friends. "No... I know... the suits are everywhere... black trucks... yeah... ok... well keep us posted..."
Griffin looked up from his computer.
"Any luck?"
"Nah... they don't no nada. Looks like we are on our own."
Rheannon was typing in a forum, and shouted, "I found a picture!"
They all went over to the computer she was on, except for Ian, who was asleep on a beat up couch.
"Look! Those things we saw a couple of weeks ago! I think they might have started it."
Griffin looked serious. "We need to find out everything we can about this... lets get to work people!"

The original unicorn-boy, whose real name was Neco-runa, had just found himself in a quite unpleasant situation. His back was to the river, which, in March, was brutally cold and deadly. And in front of him stood a CIA agent with an outstretched tasergun. The leaves in the aspen trees bristled in the breeze. Neco-runa's thick, magnificently purple-pink tail swished. Back. And forth. He stuffed his hands into the pockets of his grey pants and tapped one of the river rocks with a crystalline-looking hoof, innocently.
"Can I help you sir?" the unicorn-boy asked.
"Don't ask stupid questions. I've been chasing you for miles now."
The agent, with his dark hair, sunglasses and flaxen-gold complexion looked fairly calm about all this.
The boy shrugged, sweetly blinking his big yellow eyes, a smile spreading across his freckled face. "There are no stupid questions. Only stupid people."
"You wanna co-operate with me, or do I have to use this on you?"
"Let's take a swim. The spring air is sweet, the river clear and deep. What say you drop that silly gun?"
"Forget it, unicorn-boy."
"For me?"
"Especially not for you."
"That's too bad then..." Shaking his head, the boy gave the agent a practically unbearable look of sympathy. Then, in one fluid flick of his wrist, he disarmed the man of his taser, sending it flying with a splash into the freezing river. "Ooops. Did I do that? Mama told me telekinesis was no good, she did..." Neco-runa sauntered forward. The agent was so frozen in his shock and fear, not that he should have expected any less in the first place, that he did not make a move to run.
In a moment, Neco-runa had him wrapped in his arms. He leaned over his neck precariously, then, slowly, almost regretfully, eyes brimming with an alien sadness, the boy bit into the agent's flesh. His otherwise dull teeth had been specially sharpened for the occasion of this. The agent howled in agony, whilst the boy dug deeper, drawing blood in streams. Finally, Neco-runa released him, wiping the drool and blood from his mouth with a furry arm. Sobbing, the agent curled up into a ball of self-protection, then at last went stiff. Unicorn-boy smiled forlornly.
"You'll wake up in an hour or two...and it'll start hurting a lot..."
He retreated back into the forested foothills just as magically as he had emerged.
-
Jacob had left to get pizza, and came back running.
"Someone has gone missing! The CIA are all over the place! They need everyone 'tested'!"
"This is ET size. Infection... could be a zombie Apocalypse... but then there would be army here." Ian had awoken, stretched to his full 7'3" height, and gotten to work on a computer.
Griffin was busy trying to get a surveillance droid (basically a vidocamera strapped to a RC car) together.
"Definitely sounds ET. Rheannon, you get anything?"
"No..." She said. "The picture I showed you guys that we printed out vanished a couple seconds after it finished printing. We need to hack the system."
Griffin raised his head. "I agree. If it is an invasion, then we won't be busted. Lets get a group online together to spam the Government CIA, then we can hack it."
Jacob was not sure. "We don't have the technology though! How could we do that?"
"We could borrow it... from one of those cars... if we had one of the CIA car computers, it would be easy... all we need is a plan..." Griffin said.

Lorazys watched the unicorn boy from afar in the trees. Intriguing youngling. However, I don't think it will be wise to let this one out. He seems to be a part of this planet's authority. We don't want those running rampant just yet. Lorazys waited for the child to disappear and stalked down slowly towards the agent. She stood over him precariously as he came to life again and screamed in agony as he slowly transformed. After his transformation, he stood slowly, shaking from the experience and many shreds of his clothes hanging off his purple fur. He walked over to the river and looked in, screaming in denial of his new form of a purple cat. Lorazys made herself present to him through his shock. "Be at ease, earth man. You have simply made a change in evolution. I am, how you say, the caretaker of newborns like yourself. Now, come. The agent freaked and kept shakiing his head. However, the closer she got, the more his feral instincts took over his mind until it snapped. Like a child, he walked up to her cautiously and she placed a hand on his head. He then cuddles into her hand and gave a small pur. She embraced him and whispered into his ear, "Aww, such a tender child. You show such promise as one of us. How unfortunate that your transformation was in complete." With that, she snapped and tore his head off, tossing the head and the remains into the river. She licked the blood off of herself and retreated back into the woods, making her way back to the village to look for another hunt.

Only one thing good has happened because off the invasion. No school, which means no people, that means no crowd, which equels to no socialising. Rachel walked down the street, looking at everyone in the masks and the uniform. They always looked so serious and their eyes seemed to follow you where ever you go, like you were one of the E.T's. She put her hood up and kept walking, past the fashion stores and game stores and came across the usual internet cafe she used to go into. the same guys were there 24/7 nearly. After gazing in, Rachel walked down to the caves.
-
Having witnesses the removal of the new underling he jumped down from a tree, and landed next to Lorazys. He didn't say anything, nothing at all, Lane just stood there looking into the river. After a few moments he said, "I think it would be wise to find the one who bit the underling you just removed. Unless you already know where he is?" Lane didn't exactly wait for an actaul response, but instead went over to go drink some water. "The whole town is freaking out you know."
-
Lorazys merely shook her head, "No. He is the special one. The first one. The only one to fully convert. However, we can't touch him. At least not yet. He is an intriguing child and my first assignment. He will be the pinnacle of our mission on this planet. Leave him be. If you interfere, comrade or not, I will have to remove YOU as well.
-
Griffin looked up as the door opened.
"Rachel! Long time, no see! What is going on?"
The rest of his crew were napping in a pile on their beat up couch, resting up to go take a vehicle, as he was attempting to hotwire some bits of machinery. He got up and pulled off his goggles to greet Rachel.
-
"Hey Griffin!" she ran up and hugged him tight. "Well the uniformed guys are still hanging around and staring at people. the E.T's are still lurking around and no one knows how many there are and im being a rebellion and going down to the caves. Wanna come?" since Griffin was her only friend who didnt mind the black hoodies and the fact she wasnt a blonde barbie like the rest off them, she wanted to talk to him.
-
Griffin returned the hug.
"Sure... I'll leave a note for the crew."
He quickly scrawled a note on a piece of paper, and went up.
"ok lets go."
-
Rachel put her hood back up and headed out the cafe, "so what's the latest and greatest?". Looking around her, there were uniformed guys patrolling the walkway and looking in the trees. Creepy. Very creepy
-
Quietly, to make sure the suits don't hear him, "Well it seems that it is ETs, although we don't know if they are friendly or not. We got a pic of one of the ships descending, but it vanished right after we put it on our computer. We think this is a coverup. If it is, it is a bad one. Several people have disappeared... we really have no clue. We were going to try to take one of the Black trucks because they usually have a computer linked to the CIA and FBI. The crew was working on something to remote drive one... but we are still having trouble..."
He chuckled.
"Guess youtube doesn't have very good tutorials to make a car hack."
-
"maybe youtube doesnt, but i do" Rachel jumped down a few rocks "I can make one easy as pie, if you'd like" slidding down some muddy hills and came to a set of stairs leading down to the sea and some caves.
-
Griffin followed in basically the same path.
"Definately. Looks like you are still the techie I remember. I promise to not usurp you're coolness from you're friends.
He held up his hand, while grinning.
-
"oh come on, you know me better than that, Griffin. For starters you're the only one i'd class as my friend and im the bad chick off the place, so no coolness there. Watch your step" Rachel didn't like people all that much. "ha, remember that time Brian was threatening you then i showed up and he ran away? What was that about?"
-
"Eh... Brian was just being a jerk. Like always. The one nice thing about being best friends with you is that you instill terror in everyone... I don't really know why... you are kinder than everyone thinks." He smiled as he dodged a loose stone.
"Kinder than anyone else at least. It seems like the nerds of the world find the weirdest friends, and the most common enemies."
-
Rachel entered the cave and jumped to see if there were bats. "You aren't that nerdy to be honest and I hang around with the bikers, skaters and goths so it builds up the image. Makes me feel safer wearing a mask," She looked down at the ground, kicked a stone and kept walking.
-
"Well it certainly scares the crap out of anyone who would try to hurt you."
He grinned and followed her down into the caves.
"So where is this rebellion you were talking about?"
-
"Weither or not you attempt to eliminate me or not, doesn't really matter. I only play a small part in this operation, and I fear I might have to make myself known to the public population here. Their forces seem to be going door-to-door in search of something. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but we cannot allow them to capture any of our own", and with that he jumped down into a canyon to find a less defended entrance into town, but stopped as he witnessed two civilians enter a cave. Suspicion drove him to follow them as quietly as possible, but he weighed a little more on this planet, and wasn't quite used to it yet. He had knocked over a few rocks.
-
"shhh" Rachel held up her finger to him and twiched her ears to the entrance, "someone's following us. come here" she dragged him behind a rock where she usually kept her skateboard and emergancy backpack.
-
Lorazys sighed and headed off by way of the woods. She was actually a little happy, being able to run faster here on this planet's gravity. She felt burning sensations throughout her body, the burn of her strength being used. She indeed liked it here, but something really troubled her. What other species are trying to make their way into this territory.
-
Shiro whispered.
"CIA or ET?"
-
"sounds clumsy so my best guess is ET" Rachel slumped down further to the small crack between the rock and the cave wall, "i dont see anything yet"
-
"You think he is friendly?"
-
"i sertanly wouldnt trust him, her or it. i've had enough of this" Rachel started to get up, took her skateboard and stood infront of the rock "stay out of site" she whispered to Griffin
-
"That I can do. But if something happens, i'll come and help."
-
"ok" she skated over to the entrance of the cave and stepped out
-
Shiro peeked out from around the corner keeping Rachel in his line of sight.
-
She took her hood down, covered her eyes from the sun and looked out. nothing moved in the sea or anywhere near, so she turned around, grabbed onto the ledge of the rock and pulled herself up. Thats when she saw something move inbetween some rocks half covered by trees
-
(Guys, please watch it with your one liners. Haha so much has happened since I was gone...okay, not a lot but enough...lawl...Oh, and I didn't want to confuse anyone, so I'll just say that there are two unicorn boys. One is the original, one is the one slowly changing. Not that people didn't know...but just in case...)
Carol sat on the living room couch with her head lowered into her hands and a shotgun by her side. When she'd looked over her boy, her Jordan, she had found that his hair was slowly turning a roguish purple. His toes...well, they were kind of fused, like he was...growing hoofs. She didn't even want to think about the fur she'd found. After she'd looked over her boy, she'd went outside and took a shotgun from the barn. Just in case. Something had to be done. She had to find somebody, somewhere, who could help. No matter what it took. Mid-afternoon light caught her hair in a sort of glow. She shivered.
Then.
Out of nowhere.
Crash!
"Mom! Help me! Please help me!"
The harried woman jumped to her feet, grabbing up the shotgun, prepared for anything.
_________
Outside of Jordan's bedroom window, Neco-runa hesitated. He'd traveled so far in so little time. He wanted to go inside. This human needed his help. He was changing too slowly, and only Neco-runa's DNA could help him change faster, with less pain. Just a simple bite, just a little bit of spittle, could jump-start the process...but...What if the human boy did not like him? Or shied away? He had hoped, in the end, friendliness could come about.
He did not want to think of what Lorazys would do in his situation. She had been his mentor for so long, but he hadn't even seen her since he came to Earth.
"Oh well." It was too late to consider now. Sighing, worried out of his mind about the pain the boy was in due to him, Neco-runa shoved open the window.
-
Lorazys continued through the woods and reached the town, and stayed on the top branch of the last tree at the edge. She scanned the area to determine the next target. At the other end of town, she noticed a small shack that stood out to her. She silently and quickly ran over the long way, just within the treeline to avoid being seen. Right before she reached the little shack, she heard some pattering next to her. She stopped still and looked over to the side. She'd been spotted. No less, than by an agent relieving himself...
-
Charles was on his routine sweep of this little town. "Geez this place sucks..." he thought out loud as he knocked on Carol's door.
"Excuse me.. open up, CIA, I have a warrant to search you house" he said mechanically. It had been drilled in his memory to not try to shock the civilians in this area, and he found he had to babysit some through some rudimentary testing to see if they were afftected.
He took a looka round.
"Quite a peaceful place... makes a man wonder why we're here" he thought as he knocked on the door again.
"Excuse me But I must enter this house, I have full authorization to break in if I must... you have fifteen seconds"
-
Methodolically, Carol snuck along the hallway corridor as best she could. There had been two voices stemming from Jordan's room, and, despite the fear he might be hurt, she wanted to give whoever it was the suprise of thier lives.
She readied the gun.
_____
"Stay away from me! Get back!" Jordan had since fallen off of his bed and was sprawled on the floor, looking up at Neco-runa with eyes quite literally as big around as a deer's. The transformation had begun to take hold in his face as well.
"Please, boy, listen to me, just hush. That's not fair now is it? I just need to give you a quick bite, and all your pain will go away, I promise," Neco begged. "I know we're from diffrent worlds, but it won't kill us to be friends."
"No, no, no..." Ten-year-old Jordan shook his head defiantley. "You're the one who made me hurt in the first place."
"I know, I know, but..."
Neco-runa's words were cut short at the sound of the bedroom door flying open.
______
"Excuse me? Open up, CIA. I have a warrant to search your house." The voice echoed hauntingly through the cabin, coldly.
Carol froze, one hand poised to throw open Jordan's door and give whoever had broken in a peice of her mind. CIA? Here? Now? They had only been to her house more or less than an hour ago in search of her blood sample. What could they possibly want now? Unless...unless they knew something they shouldn't know. Shuddering, unsure of what exactly to do, she simply whispered: "Not right now, not while my baby boy needs me. I don't think so." She took a deep breath, and then, getting a tighter grip on the shotgun...shoved open the door to her child's room.
-
The agent, caught off guard, reached for his gun, his pants falling off and tripped onto the floor. This is becoming a pain. Lorazys jumped up, turned around in the air, and landed on his back, while covering his mouth. The man screamed in her hand and pulled out his gun, firing randomly. She heard people in nearby homes opening their doors and cursed under her breath. She quickly stepped on the man's arm and gripped his head with both hands, snapping it to the side, instant death. Lorazys then pulled off his jacket and picked up the shell casings and heaved the corpse onto her back. She carried the body back into the woods and disposed it into the river, throwing the jacket and casings along with the body. Great, now I can't head back for a while, now that gunshots have been heard. I hope Neco-runa isn't still in town, or else this is going to be very troublesome.
-
They had spotted him, and he silently cursed this planet. It had made him clumsy, and movements that used to require no thought, he now had to think about. The girl of the two natives had bravely stepped out. Lane's mission was to try and create friendly relations with the natives of this land mass if possible, but the soldiers running around made that difficult. Something compelled Lane to make himself known, and he did. Still not used to the weight he jumped with a bit too much force, and landed abruptly with a grunt about ten yards behind the girl. "Stupid gravity being different! Why couldn't the assign me to a planet that required less, or equal effort to move?!" was all he could say. He was more talking to the dirt than anything.
-
*Holy (Censored), it's a Wolf man!*
Griffin was a little curious at the comical wolf guy crashing into the ground.
"Uh, Rachel... looks like it is ET..."
-
Lane gave the pup a look of like, "Wrong move" for about one second then said, "I'd prefer you didn't say that." He then brushed himself off, waiting for another comment from either one of the two.

Lirael sat among the branches and leaves of the forest edge, inspecting herself and her new clothing curiously..... getting them from the human 'shop' had been easy... with the moon out she simply passed through the wall of the building, took what she wanted and left... without even setting of what she realised was a crude motion detector linked to an alarm system of sorts....
she did not know why she had taken the human clothing, curiousty perhaps... everything on this new world was so... different... and the humans especially... what other species could dominate the land with their buildings and roads?....
anyway.... the clothes.... she looked down at herself, standing up and turning around a few times.... they where a bit tight here and there in maybe unfortunate places.... but otherwise where fine... she had lost her own clothes in transit, and it was either this or greet the humans stark naked... maybe not the best of approaches. A small fox scampered past and stopped to look up at her, curious, and cautious...
"well hi little fella"
the fox walked slowly up to her, and she knelt down, running a paw from its head to the tip of its tail... the fox blinked twice and then scampered away... she smiled, before noise caught her attention, standing up swiftly she walked to the edge of the woods, straight through trees and obstructions like a shimmering ghost, giggling to herself... it was always fun to do that, at least until morning came around again...
soft silver fur shining in the moonlight she stopped beside a large oak, watching the proceedings... another of her kind was greeting two humans.... should she risk showing herself too?
-
*well, he has seen me.*
Griffin walked out in the open.
"Who are you guys? You are giving the suits alot of stuff to do?"
He shook his head. These guys looked scary, but enough monster movies told him som
"Why are you guys here anyway."
-
Lirael watched the human walk out into the open... marvelling at its aparant bravery... leaning on the oak tree she continued to watch from the sidelines.... better this way to see the humans, and how they reacted... before revealing herself.... though the Wolf may already know she was there....
-
Lane had caught the scent of another one his kind, but did not wish to acknowledge it. If these humans were hostile, he didn't want to expose his ally as well. Besides, two simple humans should be easy enough to deal with.
"My purpose here is to try and create friendly relations with the populace on this landmass. What do you call it again? Ameridia? Something like that. Though some of my colleagues may be making that incredibly difficult, I decided to not go to the higher classman of your gvernment because of a few... complications."
-
Rachel approached the ET confidently "so let me get this straight. You dont mean us any harm and want to make peace with us for something?" she shook her head and went back inside the cave muttering to herself. this was all a bit cliche and weird for her liking, and she didnt like the way that thing said "complications". Rachel grabbed her backpack and headed back out again on her skateboard.
-
"Look, I don't even know all the details. I just know what I've been assigned to do, and even if i did know, I don't think that I would be ablidged to tell you."
He was starting to sound a bit irritated and incoherent. He was just getting tired of socializing. He'd never understand why he was asssigned to be the talker. He didn't hate doing it, talking just annoyed him. Contact between another intelligent being irritated him. One more thing he'd never understand.
-
"Well besides the fact you are a giant talking wolf guy... but don't let that bother you."
Griffin turned when Rachel walked back to the cave.
"If you guys are so friendly, why not take a different form? Or try some other way of contacting us than kidnapping kids and people? Why not just send us a message instead of dropping space pods down on the planet? I don't want to make this sound threatening or like I am scolding you, but, come on. It's a really bad idea to start jumping on the planet without warning. It's like me walking into you're house with a machine gun and asking to be friends."
He caught himself.
"I am sorry. The irony of all of this is probably new to you guys. We are another species, after all."
-
"I completely understand what your saying, and courtesy is something greatly valued in the culture I come from. But unfortunately the world I come from might have alternate motives for this planet. I honestly don't know. For all I know, I could just be a diplomatic distraction."
Lane was glad that the human was taking in consideration the fact that he and his people were from someplace else. Usually people expect you to live by their standards, and if you don't, you don't deserve their attention. But he was different. He was someone that Lane would remember for a long time.
"As for your saying to appear in a different form, only a few of us can shapeshift. We all have our own abilities, most of us just one, but a few such as myself end up with more."
-
Griffin didn't like the sound of *diplomatic distraction*
"Well, that doesn't sound good. But i won't hold it against you. It's kinda the same way here. I mean the whole deceitful thing..."
He stopped and thought a moment.
"Well, you can't send a human to be a messenger, thanks to all the alien movies we have here. You can't go yourself, due to your... large stature. And we aren't in best relations with the government because of the sudden crashing, kidnapping, and general panic that goes with such an invasion."
He laughed to himself.
"It sound's like a show I heard once, called War of the Worlds. It was from a time where there was no way for people to distinguish from reality. The show was broadcast from a thing called a radio. It transfered sound waves to people all over the... planet. Well, this one guy decided to let out a program that went all over the airwaves saying that an alien invasion had taken place. It wasn't true of corse, it was purely fictional... but some people thought it was real and the whole US was in a panic."
Griffin looked up at the wolf guy again. *I bet this guy is the Furry Fandom's dream come true...*
"Well, i guess you are nicer. The CIA guys aren't telling us anything, and I wouldn't trust them anyway. Too shady. I don't think I can do much, but if you need anything that isn't along the lines of 'destroy and conquer the world' i think I can help." He worried slightly about Rachel, but he remembered she thought like him, and would see the logic of it. Anyway... she was the one starting the rebellion. He was just the middle man.
-
"ok, sorry guys but iv got work to do. it was nice meeting you and discussing what you are maybe, but quite possibly going to be doing here and as long as you stay out of my way, i dont care what you do" Rachel smiled politly, nodded at Griffin and left for the rocks, leaving her skateboard just at the mouth of the cave. no one would touch it. She wanted to be alone for a while today, maybe making some plans for the "rebellion" or watever, but mainly for some peace. the weirdo suit guys always looked at her suspiciously and liked to poke their nose in at times, so it got quite annoying. maybe i'll do yoga. that normally helps calming me down
-
"5... 4... 3... 2... 1...!" Charles had counted down before kicking open the door.
"I told you that you had 15 seconds before I broke in.. Well I'm here now.." Charles said, raising his gun to eye level in case something hit the fan.
He began to sweep the lower floor of the house. All he found was some unfinished laundry, a Captain Falcon comic book, and a laptop riddled with computer games.
Then he went back to the lobby and looked at the stairs. He could hear voices, and by the sound they were not happy at all.
-
Lirael watched the talking going on... this human seemed very confident indeed... and understanding.... Sighing lightly she sat down lightly at the base of the tree, watching from the sidelines... there was no doubt the wolf knew she was here, but nevertheless, she would only reveal herself if the Wolf made a move to acknowledge her, of if the human noticed her.... smiling she flicked her tail lazily, this meeting between the two species seemed to be going well enough...
-
Lorazys noticed the events after she had dumped the agent's body. She snuck up behind Lirael as Rachel had left the cave and gripped Lirael's neck with a low growl. "You are going after her. This is a covert operation. I will not have this mission fail because you let two small human children see us and report us to those authorities. Do I make myself clear?"
-
_______
Carol burst onto the scene, shotgun in tow. She shouldn't have been expecting any less, but...still, what she saw was shocking. Jordan and...and something were sitting on the bed together, sheets rumpled around them. The creature, a purple-themed unicorn-boy had it's jaw clamped around Jordan's hand, teeth puncturing the flesh slightly. The human boy was too weak from being sick to deal with things like this, and had since fainted, now lying utterly limp. At her arrival, the unicorn-boy glanced up quickly, realeasing Jordan's hand from the bite.
"Please, missus, I don't want any trouble," he began. Only to be cut off. "I swear, I'm just trying to-"
"You get away from my boy, or by God I will blow your freaking alien head off!" Carol growled. She aimed the weapon.
"Please don't do that."
"Don't try to tell me what to do, just get away from him!"
The unicorn-boy sighed, then looked Carol right in the eyes, penetrating her emotions as heavily as a freight train, telling her over and over with his mind that all she had to do was drop the gun, just drop it, and everything would work out alright. Meanwhile, Jordan's transformation had indeed sped up dramatically. In a matter of moments, he would be fully, completely, wholly changed. Maybe the first to prove sucessful, maybe not. None of them heard the sound of the door being broke down until it was too late to do anything about it.
-
Lirael let out a small squeak as she was suddenly grabbed from behind, but relaxed as she realised that it was no human... she smirked, concentrating for a moment she slid through Loraz' paws like a ghost and turned to face her... "you make yourself perfectly clear, follow child, stop her reporting us... my name is Lirael Xlyn... and so long as the moon is up... she will not get away..."
her voice was quiet and soft; and with that she turned from Lorazys, and with a swish of her tail ran off through the woods, moonlight glinting off her fur as she headed off silently to follow Rachel...
-
Griffin looked up to see two of the creatures in the trees. One had hopped down and started moving in the direction Rachel was going.
"What is this?"
He tapped his cell phone at his hip. He waved to the third of the creatures.
"Hey! Come on down so we can figure this thing out for good!"
He turned toward the wolf.
"If you are right, and you are just a flunky, then we need to find a way to peacefully deal with my government and... whoever is leading you guys." he called up to the one in the trees.
Griffin looked back.
"And bring you're friend! Don't want the suits to get the wrong idea about you guys!''
-
Lorazys let out a low growl and sighed. Impertinent soldier. If we were home, I'd have crushed your throat for insubordination. She whisked off back towards the town but maintained distance from sight 300m within the trees. The next target has to be an old one. A human that would pass almost under the radar. Lorazys climbed to the treetops and continued her hunt.
-
"What is his hurry?" Griffin looked up at the wolf.
-
Lirael laughed happily under her breath as she heard Lorazys muttered threat, nothing could spoil her mood.... she followed behind Rachel, keeping to the trees as she went, occasionally slinking THROUGH trees as well, she was getting much better at controlling her power... She remained out of sight, waiting to see where Rachel would go... impertinent she may be, but an order was an order... and she would follow it through... no matter how grumpy the order giver had been....
-
Rachel felt eyes everywhere on her and it was creeping her out. she kept walking and rounded into a circle, back to the caves and looked for her phone. she had to call griffin, just to hear his voice would make her feel less "scared". she found it but it was dead. she started to run, her breath coming fast and breaking in some parts. she didnt want to be alone. not again
-
Lirael picked up a light run, the human girl seemed to panicking and had gone in a complete circle... she had no problem with keeping up, and due to her abilities was almost completely silent... but nontheless she felt worried for the human, she was alone, and Lirael knew how that felt.... stopping for a moment she watched her frantic running, as if the very forest where watching her and creeping in on her.... should she dare reveal herself?
Shaking her head lightly she ran faster getting ahead of Rachel and waiting just behind a large thickset tree, all of her hidden, except for her tail which swished accidentally around the trunk of her hiding place...
-
Rachel caught sight of the tail before it dissapeared "holy ****!" She skidded to a halt and and fell on her side. she didnt like this, she hated feeling like this and she wasn't going to be scared anymore "ow ... ok if you're going to kill me, kill me already. please ... just put me out of my misery" Rachel closed her eyes as she was trying to slow her breathing and focus on blocking out the slashing, if there was any.
-
Griffin turned, hearing the running noise in the bushes nearby.
"Excuse me for a sec..." He quickly told the Wolf, before dashing into the foliage. He jumped out of a bush right behind where Rachel was laying. He heard the tree's moving and swaying as if something big was in one.
"Hey! Leave her alone!"
He came out in the open and moved toward Rachel.
"I saw you back there! I know what you guys are!" *kinda...* he added in his head. "Come out!"
-
Lirael leant out from her hiding place... on the contrary to what the human thought, she was actually just as petrified and scared... the sudden shout had startled her and she had almost slipped straight through the tree trunk with her momentory lapse in concentration....
"uhm.... im not erm.... going to kill you...."
she had a sudden clear idea...
"i just wanted to make sure your okay.... you seemed scared and i was worried you'd slip or hurt yourself is all..."
Taking a few tentative steps out from the tree line so the girl could see her properly Lirael watched her closely as she lay on the ground, unsure whether she was hurt or seemingly playing dead... A second human burst into the clearing, Lirael spooked like a wild fox and jumped backwards with a mew.... and then stopped when she realised it was the human she had seen earlier....
She stopped, half crouched, silvery fur shining in the moonlight, tail swishing behind her... pastel blue eyes watching the human curiously...
-
Rachel opened her eyes to see Griffin, then saw the tail from the corner of her eye and put her head down again "to be honest, i wish you did kill me but since i have bad luck ..." she got to her feet and brushed herself off, ignoring the pain in her arm "well, thank you for making sure i was ok" sure, thats what you were doing she added in her head.
-
Lorazys scanned for a good few minutes before hearing somewhat loud voices coming from a home nearby. She slunk down and followed the sounds, staying in the trees, observing. An old couple was fighting, she can see that through their glass door in the back. The old man yelled furiously about the woman being useless and causing trouble for him. It appears, no matter where you are in the universe, the female is always blamed for everything. She snarled, but caught herself and kept quiet. The man was fed up and left the house, taking something called "Whiskey" with him. He opened the glass door and left the house, drinking hard from the glass bottle, his mate weeping inside the house. Lorazys sometimes cursed her acute hearing and smell. She had always grown up with sharper senses than her kind. The old man had downed half the bottle before letting up on it and walking into the woods. He continually grumbled about his mate while he staggered around the trees. The smell of the "Whiskey" substance stung her nose, but reminded her of the hard Kriole she used to drink with the other men in her clan. Perhaps this "Whiskey" is the human's hard drink similar to Kriole, though it smelled more vile and not as strong. When he was a good ways out of sight, Lorazys starked up to the man and appeared in front of him, her eyes literally right in front of his. The man freaked and tripped onto his backside at the shock. She stood over him with her prowess and growled at him. The old man tried to speak, but was in too much shock, even to the point of wetting himself. Lorazys pulled him up by the arm and held him above her head. She grabbed the "Whiskey" which was still in his hand. "Would you mind if I tried this substance?" The man just nodded furiously. Lorazys sniffed it, truly a vile smell, and drank it. Weak, just like the people who made these. She lowered him to her so he would face her and talked softly, but with a growl in her throat just wanting to burst out. "I swear, you males are all the same around the universe. Thinking yourself superior to us in every way. Well here's your chance to prove the strength of human males in their years. You are about to experience severe pain in which is only a small fraction of what your sex deserves. If you survive, meet me near the gorge outside of town. IF you survive..." With that, she bit into his left elbow, sparing no room in making him suffer. She then dropped him onto the floor and stepped back, licking the blood from her lips. It reminded her of her last mate, when she killed him for his betrayal.
With that, she left the man there, running back over towards the forest to make sure the job was done.
-
Griffin looked into the bushes.
"Come on. I am not going to hurt you. I just wanted to be sure you didn't do anything rash."
He motioned for the second one to come out and helped Rachel up.
"You ok? I could hear you while i was with that wolf guy. Now there is a cat... girl is it?"
Even after he helped up Rachel, he still was holding her hand. Unintentionally, sure, more of a subconscious thing.
-
Lirael took a few more steps back towards the treeline... being suddenly confronted with two humans turned out to be quite a confusing experience.... she spoke quietly and softly...
"i wouldnt want any creature to bear injury that would create undue pain... though we each have our time to die i do not believe it is your time...."
She watched Rachel closely, it was the first time she had seen a human from a close enough distance.... she turned to Griffin, blinking a few times...
"uhm... yes i am feline.. and yes i am female... you seem brilliant at pointing out the obvious, a curious trait that is most amusing..." She smiled unintentionally, watching the two...
-
Rachel retained herself from going up to this creature and beating her up. she turned her attention to Griffin instead "ye im ok, just a little dizzy and ..." ok, she didnt need to tell him everything about the scaredness and all off that " ... ye dizzy" turning her back on the creature seemed a little stupid but she couldnt walk backwards all the way home either ... "hey Griffin, can i talk to you for a sec?" she dug both her hands into her hoodie and backed up aganst the trees
-
Griffin followed Rachel.
"What's on you're mind?"
-
Lorazys found the scent and followed over and jumped from the treetops, behind Griffin and Rachel, her black fur made her almost disappear. She stared angrily at Lirael and growled loudly, her red eyes growing more and more intense with her anger. "You dare to disobey my orders and mess around with these creatures!? You are a true disgrace to our people! Since you will not finish the job, I will pick up after you, and then kill you myself! No offense, child, but you know more than you ever should have." With a great hand, Lorazys picked up Griffin off the ground and brought the boy close to bite his head off.
-
Lirael jumped between Griffin and Lorazys, her form shifting and wavering like the after image of a overexposed photograph...
"And what right gives you to Kill them!? if i am a disgrace, then i will not see you slaughter them! whatever my orders where i do not care! kill me first you blood slavering monster!"
-
Lane appeared and breathlessly took Griffin out of Lorayz's grip.
"How naive you are. I wonder if you understand that maybe we can learn something from these humans before we try to turn them? And simply because someone does not follow your orders, does not mean instant death. Reprimendance of course, but death is out of the question. Are you truly so brutal that those seen unfit to you must die? Or is that what mental state is left of you since your crimes on our planet. You do not take justice into your own hands."
-
Lorazys's eyes flared with rage as she kicked Lirael aside and then gripped Lane's throat. "You are weak, and not the least bit loyal to your people. Sit there and wait your turn, child. I will make your death as merciless as I made Darius's."
-
"NO YOU DON'T!"
Griffin grabbed a long metal rod attached to a small car battery he had put together. He pressed a button and a large electric shock went through the one gripping the other's throat.
-
Lane licked his paw patiently. It was these kinds of moments where he felt completely composed.
"You blame males for believing that females are inferior, when you think yourself above all others. Just because you killed your mate, does not mean you have the ability to slay me."
-
Lorazys scoffed at the taser, as her fur just conducted it. She raised her fur into spikes to get the boy's hand off her rump and threw Lane aside like a rag doll. "I'm going to enjoy killing you, boy. Since you are so bent up on dying first." She looked over at Lane. "I didn't become second in command through being weak, traitor."
-
Lrael gasped as the air was nocked from her lungs, her form shifted and blurred, landing on all fours rather than on her back....
"you are mistaken! for it is you who is no longer loyal! how dare you even call yourself of our kind..... all you have come here to do is kill.... such a simple idea.... no learning from a whole new world.... weak minded is what you are!"
Lirael jumped between Lorazys and Griffin...
"Kill this.. boy.... and you must kill me first!"
-
"Gah!"
Griffin went over behind Lirael.
"Ok, who is this... chick... and why does she want to kill us so bad."
-
Lorazys kicked Lirael again, this time harder. "Our mission is to convert and find the strongest of their kind to increase our people. We kill whomever shall compromise our mission. You'll do well to remember that. To allow these children to live and alert their people about us would just put us all in jeopardy. You have sold out on your kind."
-
The kick passed straight through Lirael, throwing Lorazys off balance for the tiniest of moments... She turned, rolling out of the kick her form solidifying, she panted, obviously weakened by the feat.... her stance readied as she regained concentration, tail flicking...
"I remember... but unlike you i see a new world... new orportunities! i am not so weak as to simply follow orders! i am insolent, and proudly so!"
-
"You consider yourself a leader and strong when you wont bother even considering the fact that these infants might be starting a rebellion"
Lane thought that might tickle her tummy. "Also, how are you suppposed to find the strongest when you want to kill them for seeing us? You'd have to kill all your victims. You claim yourself second in command, but you don't even think thongs through."
-
Rachel cracked. she remembered everything her old master taught her about speed and strength, picked up everyone apart from the crazy wolf trying to kill them all, ran at a blinding speed through the tree and ended up at a place only she knew about. Rachel phoned the CIA about the crazy wolf, then fell to her knees breathlessy. "your all welcome"
-
In anger, Lorazys lowered to the ground and lurched at Lirael, baring her fangs. "Then die! Dodge, and your little playmate will die first!"
-
"So that's the plan?"
He was fishing in his pocket for his Multi-tool and flipped out the knife portion. It may not be much, but he might be able to defend himself.
"Well... really, if you wanted to do that, find out the freaking OPINION of the people you are going to convert first! Full scale invasion would really not want us to comply!"
He moved over closer, watching the battle.
"You could have found the people who WANTED the change. That is why people are disappearing! That is why the suits are all over the place! Well... if you had wanted to keep this such a big secret, you failed. So many of our government are scared enough as it is! The only way to talk now is through peace!"
-
Lane rammed into Lorayz, knocking her aside
"You are the traitor for seeking out the destruction of one of our kind who simply cared. You may call us weak, but your weakness is much greater."
Lane couldn't help but think that Lorayz was a psychopath. The thought just kept coming back.
-
"SHUT UP ALREADY! look if you want someone, take me. then there wont be a rebellion!"
-
Griffin saw the opportunity. He ran up and jumped on the arm, free running up the arm and took the knife and stabbed the throat area of the monster.
-
"No, the rebellion is a good thing. It assists in our main objective. But it seems that Lorayz is more bent on killing than anything. She killed her own husband you know. I don't know what he did, but she did it without a thought. She couldn't just request to never see him again, she killed him."
Lane didn't want any part in this operation any more. He was assigned with only one person so far, who was like him. Who wanted to learn more about the humans. Three others were in other various locations, and the last was a bloodthirsty maniac. He was getting tired of it.
-
(posts are no longer making sense. Kitt, read before you post.)
Lorazys had hardened her fur just in time, but the knife had still punctured into her skin. She growled and kicked the boy into the tree and pinned him with her foot. "Wrong move, boy." She wound up for a big punch.
-
Griffin grinned under the foot.
"No... right move."
He slashed the knife across the Achilles heel of the creature, and scampered out of there. *thank god i was always a trickster*
-
((sorry... missread a very important part of your post ))
Lirael watched what was happening with an air of dispair.... she could not stop Lorazys, she was much stronger, and her own power could only help so much.... panting and trying to keep her balance the world started to spin... she had never phase shifted so much and so often before.... but she could not go down now... pushing herself back up to her feet Lirael groaned, the last few kicks had left their mark....
"your fight is not with them!.... your fight is with me! i am the traitor!"
She stood to her feet, slightly off balance, fur slik with sweat... pointing to Lorazys accusingly...
-
Lane stood next to Griffin and said, "Stay. You need to watch this. And dont help, this is a battle of honor. Yes we may sav her life, but her honor will be broken forever. Just stay back."
Lane wanted to assess Lorayz abilities. So far he had seen her harden her fur, which was useful against several attacks, but hardened fur was still flamable. He knew that Lorays had a second power, as he did, and he wanted to see it.
-
Lorazys kept her fur spiked up, and temporarily penetrated Lirael's mind, giving her next 2 seconds seem like she was still on the ground and clenched both hands, getting behind her, and pounded on the base of Lirael's neck. To everyone else, it seemed that Lorazys had ran around Lirael's sight.
-
"I am not running. I need to help you guys. I am just getting out of her attack range."
-
"Did you not hear me? I never said you were running, and I told you to back off because this isn't a fight that you can handle, and do you want to destroy someone's pride forever? I seriously doubt that."
-
Lirael's eyes rolled back as she collapsed, unprepared for such a mental onslought... when her mind was already weak from using her unexperienced power and taking a physical battering... she slumped forwards, darkness creeping in from the edges even as she fought to stand back up....
-
After hitting Lirael, Lorazys trained her eyes on Lane. She penetrated his mind and Griffin's mind as well and ran forward towards him. Unfortunately, he was quite a ways away, so the 5 seconds ran out and it seemed that she teleported infront of them and she punched Griffin hard in the gut. She then quickly turned a reverse roundhouse into Lane's side.
-
Griffin, at that moment, had the adrenaline stop pumping in his body, and he felt the blow to his body.
He collapsed in a crumpled heap.
'oooooh that's smarts.'
he was consious, but crumpled in the sitting position next to a tree.
-
Lirael lay unconscious, mind soothing itself in the inky darkness of sleep brought on by sheer fatigue and shock.... she moaned once, turning over slightly, blood trickling from between her lips and dripped down her soft silvery fur...
-
Lane, being extremely trained in this kind of combat, tightened his abbs right before the hit, lessening the damage, afterwards he jumped and ran about 15 yards (using his supa speeds) before turning around and saying, "I think I understand how your power coinside with each other. You use your mental attacking ability to cause your opponent's mind to freeze, but if they're quick enough to retaliate anyways, you can harden your fur instantly to minimize the damage taken. You are a larger threat than I thought."
Lane then charged his fists with fire, and put a 'flaming' (not literally) barrier around his mind. "Let's see if your hardened fur is strong enough to not be burned."
-
Lorazys growled as lane had toughened himself to take that kick. She chuckled at his comment gave an inviting finger. "Try it, buddy boy. You'll be surprised."
-
Lane entered super-focus mode where his flame becomes blue (oh crap thats hot!) and his speed increases slightly (uh-ohs). He then seemingly charged head on, but the second before striking, he flipped over Lorayz and blasted with one of the balls of fire, which turned back to normal (not blue) during the travel time through the air.
"Enough chit-chatter, I want this to be over!"
-
Lireal pushed herself up from the ground, dazed she put one paw to her lips, a veild of blood poured over her fur... coughing and spluttering she spat out a fine stream of dark crimson blood, so contrasting to her pale silver fur.... craning her head up with an audible crack he groaned, wiping her mouth with one paw while she pushed herself up with the other... she would not be left like a child to die on the ground!
-
*ow... ow... ow... ow...*
Griffin wasn't dead, but he was bruised. He leaned up and tried to get to his feet.
"I... am... not... out.... yet..."
he fumbled with his belt and pulled out his tazer again.
his strength failed, and the tazer fell out of his hand. fell to his knees, but didn't give up.
"not... out... yet..." he kept repeating.
-
Lorazys laughed and took the attack full-force. She turned with a fist and nailed Artemis in the face, also shocking it with her hard fur as well as piercing it a little (darn those hand furs for being so short). "You must have forgotten, Lane. The child had charged my fur with his little toy earlier. But I think you can feel that charge now, can't you?"
-
*that is it... i am not going to let my planet... or these creatures... or... Rachel... die here!*
Griffin got up with one last surge of energy, and charged the wolf.
"YOU AREN"T GETTING US! YOU ARE GOING DOWN!!!"
He leapt at her with one last surge of power.
-
Lane's nose twitched. He didn't hear anything anyone was saying, not even Lorayz. His goal was to win. He aimed a few punches at Lorayz's face and stomach, but doubted they would land. Lorayz wass simply something else, and Lane Flouren was starting to realize he couldn't win this fight.
-
Lireal limped to her feet, taking a second to get her balance she assessed the situation, Griffin was down, which was maybe for the best so he didnt get further hurt.... and Lorazys was still fighting hard.... she did not know what to do..... she had no physical strenght left.... and no idea what to do....
"you mad Witch.... why do you still fight? what good is it for?...."
Shaking her head experimentally Lireal walked carefully over to Griffin, to check he was alive... she waved a paw in front of his eyes, leaning over him....
-
Lorazys flinched at the hits, but deflected most of them, watching and observing, her anger still large, but observing and scoffing at their attempts.
-
((oh, i get it))
Griffin stopped attacking.
"We aren't going to win this... stop fighting... we need to stop fighting..."
He stood there, bleeding, but he still stood there.
-
Lorazys kicked the boy aside. Foolish child. All of them. Why do you have to go against the losing fight?" She deflect another punch, stepped in and punched Lane.
-
Lane suddenly, and most certainly unexpectedly jumped, and aimed a rondhouse kick to Lorayz's face, while chaging his other leg to kick immediately afterwards. Of course, both feet are on fire. His mouth was dripping a little blood, thanks to a blow to a face, but he was able to ignore the pain.
"You have a weeknes somewhere, and it will be found!"
-
(give me half and hour, gotta get home first. Actually let's let Mystique jump in. After she jumps in, i'll end it.)
Lorazys backed up and assessed them. You are all fools. Time to finish this. Lorazys rushed in, baring her claws, ready to kill.
-
Griffin flew across the clearing, but he landed on his feet.
"We cannot fight anger with anger... we will lose if we do."
-
Charles ran up the stairs and kicked open the door to the child's bedroom.
What he saw was like something out of a twisted dream, or something from a Tim Burton movie. A unicorn like person standing over a child.. no a creature. And a woman with a 12 gauge just standing limply. Charles shook the woman, but got no response. His eyes widening he remembered his training, and he focused his rifle on the unicorn creature.
"Who.... What.. are you?" he asked, keeping his gun trained on the beast, lest it go hostile.
-
Rachel looked around, trying to take in everything that had happened around her, while she just stood there. Griffin did everything and was badly hurt because of this and she did nothing to help ... how could she have done nothing when they could've ... no they probably didnt need her help, what could she do after all? a few bits and pieces of martial arts wasnt gonna do anything against these creatures. She just sat down on a rock beside her and took deep breathes because the blood was starting to get to her.
-
Griffin stumbled over as near to Mystique as he could, then collapsed in a heap. He was completely spent. Blood was visible under his jacket, and he finally could do no more to help.
-
Having counted on Lane dodging, Lorazys went straight for the two children, but stopped as she watched the young boy try to protect the girl. She stopped in mid-stride and stood over him. "Child, though you are of a weaker species, you truly do want this one to live, don't you? *turns to the other two* And you two are really that bent on seeing this through, even if it means your lives. *sighs and shakes head* Very well, do as you wish. I will not impede on your little 'rebellion'. I'll continue my mission by myself. Do anything to impede on my particular mission, I won't let you get off anymore. Just... stay out of my way." Lorazys jumped towards the treetops and returned to the village, seeking the old one who should just be transformed by now...
-
Lireal managed to give a small confused... "Huh?"... before collapsing out of sheer exhaustion, sleeping welcoming her like a really warm pillow covered in lavender and with the kind of softness that makes you never want to have to wake up in the morning. Blood dribbled from the corner of her muzzle as she slept, her normally silver fur was matted but this was of inconsequential meaning to her, as at that moment she was sound asleep, and quietly muttering somthing about foxes and not wanting to do chores...
-
"You there", Lane said to the human girl as he picked up Lireal. "Grab the boy, and bring him back to the cave. Do you have any bandaging material? It might be helpful to patch up their wounds." Lane had suddenly caught a glimpse of what Lorazys was really like, and to be honest, it was a bit much to take in. Lane really didn't feel like socializing right now. After that kind of fight, it wasn't really the time. Craddling Lireal in his arms he walked his way back to the cave.
-
Lireal hald woke from unconsciousness, she moaned and pushed against Lane's chest.... "no... gettaway... no..." ...her mumbles subsided again as he mind shut down again into blissfull sleep...
-
Neco-runa said nothing at first, clutching the boy's hand as he finally transformed completely, then let out an excited: "Wonderful! You are perfect, the first perfect Changling I've had!" The boy looked almost exactly like his alien host, except for one thing: his fur was almost totally white, while Neco-runa's was varying shades of purple. The only non-white colors were the boy's horn and tail, which were a crystaline form of blue. The unconcious boy groaned, turning over.
"What did YOU DO to him?" the woman cried, barely holding in her shock. "What did you DO to my child?" She could not move.
"I've only helped him," Neco-runa replied. "If I hadn't of done this, then he still would be in a lot of pain." He then turned to the man, who had burst onto the scene without notice, holding up yet another gun. "As to answer your question, sir, I could be any number of things."
-
"How about you cut the riddles and just tell me what the (censored) is going on here... I swear it's just like the Shining.. except it isnt a person in a bear costume it's an alien with a unicorn..." He said, keeping his gun trained on the creature.
Assessing the possible scenarios, Charles figured he had a 3:1 chance of surviving if this thing went hostile. But if it did he'd go down in a blaze of glory and a hailstorm of lead. For some reason he had the instinct to pull his Gas mask over his face, which he did. Once he did, he found himself with a sudden burst of confidence. As if being behind the mask and losing his identity no longer made him Charles, but made him a trained trooper ready to kill.
-
Necro-runa laughed. "I suspect you know already, or that guy would not have been chasing me this morning...indeed, I am not from your planet." The young one tried to muster as much sincerity into his eyes as he could manage.
-
"What about the littlier one... judging by this woman's screams this used to be her son... how?" He asked, seeing the creature try to look innocent.
Same thing happened in Brazil with a drug dealer who argued he had a family to feed, and got on the good side of one of the Sgts.
That Sgt. is now dead.
-
"Hmm? What I'm doing is my job. I am not allowed to speak of it."
Something aboutt this man sent Neco-runa into a whirlwind of doubt. He meant what he said, and meant what he thought. Too much for the young alien. He could not...would not...deal with it on his own. He sent out a non-urgent distress call to Lorazys....I might need your help in case I get in trouble with this. Are you busy by any chance?
"But I will tell you this...what I just did helped him. I never wanted to hurt him. I promise." He told the truth.
-
Lorazys heard the message and relayed her reply with her thoughts while their minds were till connected, I actually just got back to the village, had a little issue outside, and it seems the elderly of this planet are unable to handle the transformation. I'm about 3 buildings from where you are, hold on, soldier.
-
Rachel picked up Griffin and went back to her cave. "sure i have bandaging material" she lay Griffin against the rock and threw a bag to Lane "in there ... what do you want me to do now?" Rachel went over to Griffin to see how bad he was.
-
Lane sifted through the bag until he found a sufficient amount of bandages, then tossed the bag back to Rachel. "You might want to patch him up. He's bleeding pretty bad.", Lane said as he began to wrap up Lireal's wound(s). What was he going to do now? He will probably be marked a traitor once Lorazys turns in her report, and if he were to flee, he would just become a fugitive. It seemed as if the best choice he could make would be to continue with his operation here, but at this point there seemed to be no sense in it. After bandaging up Lireal he sat against a cave wall on the other side, and applied pressure to his lip to stop the bleeding.
-
"Ughhh..."
Griffin awoke from Rachel pressing a bandage on him.
"Woah... what... happened."
His memories returned in a flash. He sat up.
"Are you OK Rachel? Where did that big... thing go? What is going on? Are you OK? Who... Argg!"
Griffin fell back down on the rock.
"Oooohh...."
-
"easy, easy. im fine, but your not. so we," she nodded to Lane "are helping out. just keep still for me please" she bandaged up his wounds the best she could, threw the bag in the corner, looked at Lane then back to Griffin, "want anything?"
-
Lane was already asleep by the time Rachel through the bag into the corner. His arm slowly falling down to his side, showing what seemed to be a scab on his lip. As usual, he didn't dream. Just blackness in his thoughts.
-
"Eh... It's just a flesh wound" He said in a failing British accent.
"Are you sure you are okay? What did I miss?"
He relaxed. At least Rachel looked okay... well, more than okay, but that was in a different sense.
-
Lireal slept curled up in a foetal position, her chest visibly rose and fell with her soft breaths and she winced every now and then in her sleep, she had numerous wounds that Lane had patched up that could be seen through her torn clothing.....
snuffling and moaning her tail swished before she fell back into deep sleep....
-
Lorazys found the house and jumped into the opened window of another room and ran in, grabbing Charles's gun wrist and lifting him off the ground by it while bringing her other arm around his neck. "Are you ok, Neco-runa? He didn't... is that him? Is that the one? A remarkable child, indeed. The other one's run loose. He's already killed an authority near the barricades. We need to hurry and restrain subject 1."
-
Rachel checked every inch then sat beside Griffin, "ye i look fine, feel tired, even though i did nothing to help ..." SHe replayed the scene in her head, every moment she could have jumped in at, all the damage she could have prevented. The memory swerved back to when she was young, but before it could start, Rachel shook her head and turned back to Griffin, "umm you didnt miss much after the fight. i just took you back here and Lane took Lireal back here, bandaged everyone up and now they two are asleep, which by the way you should be doing" She tried a to give him a smile as she said it.
-
"Nah, I'm not tired... just mortally injured." Griffin smiled as he said that.
"Well, at least you are safe." He pushed himself, not without a little pain, to a sitting position.
"I'll be fine... don't want you to be scared in this cave, with two big wolfy things, and you're friend asleep."
-
"thanks for the concern *yawn* but i'm not scared of any big bad wolf" Rachel grinned then stood up, hands on hips "and i dont care if you're tired or not, you need rest!" She wasnt going to take no for an answer, even if she was tired and he knew it. she went behind the rock, pulled out her skateboard and sat across from Griffin, "I dont care how long i have to wait until you fall asleep,"
-
Lorazys found the house and jumped into the opened window of another room and ran in, grabbing Charles's gun wrist and lifting him off the ground by it while bringing her other arm around his neck. "Are you ok, Neco-runa? He didn't... is that him? Is that the one? A remarkable child, indeed. The other one's run loose. He's already killed an authority near the barricades. We need to hurry and restrain subject 1."
Being lifted from the ground by Lorazys was very surprising. Charles gave a startled gasp as he was easily lifted, and gave a louder gasp as his air was cut off. Judging by what was said, these creatures were on a mission, for what, Charles could care less right now. Glancing backwards he looked upon his aggressor's face, and saw that she was a bloody and angry creature. "She must've gotten in some nasty fight" He surmised.
Since Lorazys apparently forgot about his one arm, Charles grabbed his E-Tool and smashed the shovel as hard as he could into the beasts face. It may not hurt much, but the shock should at least do something. If not, he still has grenades.
-
"Were you always this tough, or are you just showing off?" Griffin said, a huge smile across his face.
"Alright, I'll go to sleep... but we take shifts, ok? I don't want anything sneaking up on us. You get some sleep first. The adrenaline from the fight is still on a high. You look like you need it more than I."
He put up his bandaged arm.
"Well... I guess I really did take a beating."
-
"yes i was always this tough, thats why everyone apart from some people, who is stubborn and wont sleep and will be getting more bruises if he doesnt, run away, now can you get to sleep?" she was too tired to argue, so she put the skateboard away and made herself comfortable against the rock, her eyes seemingly more heavy.
-
"Alright! Alright! Well, you had better get some too... Wake me up when you get tired..."
He closed his eyes.
-
"Yeah, that's him all right, and yes, I'm fine," Neco said, but just barely in time, because give or take a second later, the man had shoved something hard into his comrade's face, and the twang reverbarated through the room. "Lorazys!" he cried, standing up. He outstrecthed his hands, palms up. If this man wanted a fight, then Neco was going to be ready for it.
-
Lane had found their bickering to wake him up, and then hard to fall back asleep again.
"I'll take first shift if you guys are going to be so picky about everything.", he said with a certain annoyance in his voice. They were starting to make him a little angry. The only reasson he was still there was to make sure that Lireal was alright.
-
"thank you and sorry" Rachel dozed off right after she said it. Her dream was of the fight in the woods, except a little different because she saw people who she knew for a fact were dead, helping out. then it shifted from memory to memory and finally blackness.
-
Griffin didn't dream. He stayed awake.
After Rachel was asleep, he opened his eyes and looked at the wolf.
"Well, you are awake too, I see. Sorry if we woke you up... I guess we were kind of loud..."
-
Lorazys took the hits, since they weren't direct, and grabbed the shovel with her fangs and clenched the man closer to her body, hardening her fur to spikes. Most of it barely punctured the man's skin, since the fur on the front half of her body is so short. When the man's grip lightened a little, she grabbed his gun arm with her choking hand and two-hand threw him out of the room, into the wall. She then turned to Neco-runa, "You forget who you talk to. Don't worry, none of this blood is mine, save the little bit on my neck, but it's nothing but an insect bite. Is that one a danger to the mission? *motions at Charles* If he is, I'll dispose of him while you take care of this child and find subject 1. What say you?"
-
Hitting the wall hard, Charles rubbed his aching head, but was gasping louder at the opportunity to breathe again. The color went back into his head, as he saw the two talking.
He had two options.
Draw his pistol and shoot.
Or to just act like he was knocked out and shoot later.
Seeing how strong the beastie was, and that she took the E-tool to the face and didn't flinch, he went with the latter. Only then did he realized that she punctured him with something. It didn't hurt at first, but he could feel blood slowly trickle from tiny pricks in his back.
-
Neco-runa exhaled slowly, carefully unballing his fists, secretley glad that he had not had to fight. "No. Don't hurt him any more than he already is. He was just doing his job. Where would you like me to take this one?" he said, motioning at the child.
-
Lorazys looked at the child and back at Neco, "Take the child to the T-Point (transport point) in the woods where we first got here. Keep a cover on and beware of subject 1. Remember, the two must never be near each other until after incubation is over. 1's mind is completely broken right now and hasn't passed incubation, yet. He's also getting closer back to the village in search of his counter-part. Keep this child safe, even if it means your life. I will not have this mission fail." Lorazys looked back over to the seemingly unconscious human and penetrated the minds of everyone in the room for 3 seconds, making it seem as if she was still standing there, but in actuality walking over and around the corner of the wall. So when the illusion wore off, it seemed as if she disappeared in to thin air and teleported over by Charles. "I know you're still awake, since your heart is not relaxed. Your life has been spared, human, by the very one you tried to kill. Be grateful to be in favor of his big heart. But be warned, do not send your men here to fight. If you interfere with us, I will not hesitate to remove any that are hostile. The threat coming here, if provoked, will kill all of you. So for the sake of you and your men, keep quiet." She penetrated their minds once more for 4 seconds and made them see her disappear into thin air, as she casually jumped out the window she came in and ran out into the night.
-
Lane didn't say anything as he walked to the cave entrance and sat down. "You should rest. You'll need the strength." Lane then closed his eyes and let his sense of smell and hearing take over. He coulnd't risk his eyes lying to him now.
-
Luckily for Neco, the woman was still enough in his mind hold that he could still force her to hold still, much to the enragement of her emotions. He gathered up the child in his arms, carefully cradling him, and went out by way of the front door- the window posed too much of an injury risk, and the boy needed to remain spotless for as long as Neco could manage.
-
Lorazys scaled the trees and swept the grounds, allowing her senses take over in tracking subject 1. However, it was impossible now. Subject 1 was growing smarter, despite not coming out of incubation. Apparentlly, it can cover its scent now. Lorazys can only depend on her hearing now. If she were to confront subject 1, she would have to have to some how subdue it. The child's mind had not been able to handle the incubation, so his true mind is pretty much sealed away, but he somehow came to consciousness despite that. This is not good, and on top of that, more reports about the objects in the sky were beginning to worry her as those weren't theirs. This mission just keeps getting better and better, she thought to herself sarcastically.
-
"Psychopathic (Censored)" Charles said when the two creatures left with the child. Picking up his rifle he used it as a cane and picked himself up with it. His wire had been on the whole time, and the entire conversation and incident had been recorded. Ignoring the now in shock woman, Charles went to the stairs and almost fell down them.
"(censored) that thing was really strong..." He said before slumping down on a couch to breathe. He looked around the house, and he saw a picture of the woman, and her son. He honestly wondered where her son was, or what his son was for that matter.
"I'll find your kid... if it kills me then fine..."
-
"No, no, no way..." Carol huffed. The painful feeling at last lifted from her mind, bringing with it a wave of tingles and jitters. She had seen the whole thing, from the start, frozen in place...she had watched as her boy was taken away in the arms of that thing. Not being able to do a thing about it.
.....Just watching.
The woman fell heavily to her knees, defeated by emotion. She glanced over at the man, the one who looked like a soldier, her eyes glossed over. She could barely see him from where he was in the living room, glancing at her family photos. "You'd really help me? What am I supposed to do anyway?" she begged.
-
"Yeah... I need some answers first though. Like what is going on with that guy? The zealot?"
Griffin chuckled a little.
"Heck, what is with the 'Turning us into you guys' thing. Now, personally, I think that is awesome, but I am sure there are many who would rather not..."
-
Lireal yawned widely, stretching... she immediately wished she hadnt for she woke up to the dull throbbing pain that precedes a night full of being punched repeatedly in the gut....
"ugh....."
She rolled over slightly to see Lane sitting at the cave entrance, sunlight spilling through into the cave.... she winced as she pushed herself up into a sitting position, tail flicking in pain.....
-
"That zealot is a pure and loyal soldier, as you could see. Her name is Lorazys, and she's in command of this operation. Lireal and myself had revealed ourselves to you without converting you, and therefore we were seen a traitors. As for the converting you, it was planned by our officials. They thought that if we gave you this gift, of living longer and gaining powers, it would be easier for us to call this one of our planets. I see you're awake Lireal." Lane finished with but little emotion in his words. He was busy thinking if he and Lireal should continue with the operation, or research human behavior before they are converted. Perhaps he could do both. Perhaps it could be impossible. He didn't really know.
-
"Well, yes, definitely. That is a great gift. The only problem is the execution." Griffin moved a little into a more comfortable position.
"If you take people against their wills and convert them, it feels like the people are being forced to do something. One thing we, the human race, hates, its being told we HAVE to do something one way. We like looking at options. When you guys abduct random people, turning them against their will, the rest of us are immediately scared, suspicious, terrified, and completely exhilarated at the sight of a challenge. It's a little confusing, even to us. Heck, even other humans fight humans over options." He shrugged.
"However, if you told us right, I am certain that MANY people would 'convert'. There are 7 billion of us on the planet, and I am sure if we work things out, it would be a wonderful friendship." He paused.
"Well, a better than normal relationship. There are always nut-jobs that try to throw everything out of peace. But I am very sure that many people would change, me even, but you have to give it to them in a way that doesn't seem forced. Otherwise, you have a big war... and sadly, that is what humans like the best. We are pretty warlike."
-
Lireal nodded, causing a stabbing pain to run through her neck.... she ran one paw down herlself, wincing whenever she found a bruise or impact point from one of Lorazys blows.... with a great effort she pulled herself into a sitting position against the cave wall and looked over to Lane....
"what happened?.... Where is she?"
By 'she' Lireal meant Lorazys... wincing again she looked down at her torn and bloodied clothes with a slight sigh, they had been new last night.......
-
"The human race and ours aren't so different. I believe thats why our government is showing a particular interest in this planet. I do not, however, know why our government is attempting to forcibly convert the majority inhabitants, which are you."
Lane honestly couldn't say why they had issued the order to convert all the humans. He then began to wonder how things would be different if instead of forcibly doing so, if they first gave the option and see how that went.
"Lorazys simply stopped fighting, and told those who were concious at the time, being the girl and myself, to not get in her way. She left the scene seeming a bit emotional. I'm not sure where to, or why."
-
"Well, if you are most like us, then I think I can see it. We had a bump in with a war for religion... that's believing in a ... higher being. One religion decided it was best, and went about converting people, and those it couldn't convert, it killed. Big problem, even today. It follows with the 'you don't believe what I believe, so you don't matter' philosophy. Personally I think it is a bunch of horse (censored)"
-
Lane didn't exactly respond, instead his ears perked up.
"Any of you vegetarian? I'm thinking about getting some food, so I'll need to know if I need to bring any plants or fruits, or whatever they're called." Lane said as he stood up slowly. He was getting tired, so he'd figured he would get some food before going to sleep.
-
Griffin smiled, baring canines a little sharper than usual.
"Nah, all meat eaters over here... just don't kill to many of the local 'domestic' crop, or farmers might go after you with guns."
-
"Farmers are the least of my concern. I'll probably just bring back some... rabbits? and a few berries for the side."
Lane then gave a quick glance to the others and jumped off, using his incredible speed to go hunting.
-
"Hey... Lireal is it? Are you awake now? I need a little shut eye, and I don't think it is safe for us to be all asleep."
-
Lireal looked over at Griffin from where she sat and nodded... getting up with some difficulty she walked over to the cave entrance and sat down, cross legged, tail swishing behind her..... she watched outside the cave, as well as the two human inhabitants with curiosity... rubbing her thigh where Lorazys had caught her a particularly powerfull blow she winced.....
"you can sleep, i'l wait for Lane to return..."
-
"Thanks... I guess you guys are more like us than I first thought..."
He turned his head over, and fell asleep.
He dreamed he was one of them... he had orange fur on his arms which ended in black fur around his hands... he looked at himself, and he saw the human in him, as well as this new species. He looked over at Rachel, who was standing near him, in awe. He went over to comfort her, but she vanished. Lane was in the dream too, he was small, and looking up at the one who attacked them, shaking his tiny fist. Suddenly he grew bigger, and bigger, until he could challenge the monster. Then, everything went dark. All he could see was his fur, and a small, human sized light in the distance...
-
Lireal smiled despite herself and her current situation... she watched Griffin as he turned over and started to snore... smirking she turned back to watching oustide the cave, moonlight reflected off her silver fur and gave her strength, like a warmth in her heart.... she turned her attention to the now ruined clothes that she was wearing, Lorazys numerous blows had torn the shirt in several places, and blood was spattered across it..... brilliant.....
-
Lorazys continued through the woods in search of subject 1, when her stomach let out a huge growl. She stopped dead in her tracks and checked her pack, empty. She sighed and started sniffing around and paying close attention to any and all sounds. Lorazys stayed close to the ground and moved briskly and quietly. Suddenly, she heard something about 100 meters to her right. She followed the sound and picked up the scent of something marvelous. Lorazys followed her nose and discovered a white tailed deer. She had no idea what kind of animal it was, but it looked appetizing. Lorazys moved even slower, stalking her prey, and at the last minute, lept up and pounced on her little prize. Her animal instincts kicked in and she ravaged the poor animal, not even allowing it to scream.
-
Rachel woke up when she heard someone snoring. She turned over to see it was Griffin, shook her head then looked over to see who was on watch out now. When she saw Lireal, she suddenly felt bad for her, so she got up and tip-toed over to her "hey, i'll take over for you. You should really take it easy, do you want or need anything?"
-
Lireal almost screamed in fright when somone spoke behind her, and settled down again when she saw it was Rachel...
"no im okay... i do not normally sleep much anyway, and i do not mind... thank you for the gesture anyway"
She looked up at Rachel and smiled, shifting so she was sitting cross legged she winced slightly...
"well actually... im kind of in need of new clothes.... after that fight... but that can wait, thank you for asking"
-
"that's fine :) do you mind if we chat then? i dont think Mr. Snore-alot has got anything to say at present" she giggled then looked over at Griffin. he was kinda cute when he was sleeping ... huh? ok move on ... "so what's it like where you come from, or is that a secret?"
-
Lireal nodded, shifting aside so Rachel could sit down as well, she looked over at Griffin and laughed softly...
"well.... it looks different.... but we arent actually as different as i thought..... despite the.... obvious visual differences....
She leant against a large rock, watching Rachel and every now and then Griffin...
"you know i learnt English for a long time, this is the first time ive had to use it properly....it must be so wierd for you... this other species..... but yeah, everything here is so new... so different, its all beautifull..."
-
Rachel sat down beside her and smiled "i dont find it that weird to be honest, sure you're more powerful and closer to immortal than us, but like you said, we're not that much different" she looked out the cave and thought about what Lireal said about the planet being beautiful "I guess I forgot how beautiful the place was. I come down here just to get away from everything and everyone. i'm not much of a social person" Rachel shrugged and looked around the cave
-
Lireal smiled weakly, wincing slightly as she shifted her leg she stared out of the cave entrance into the starlit forest....
"we are even more alike than i thought.... i was always said to be quiet and shy.... though i did not mind, during the night, with the moon and the stars, i can never be alone..."
She looked back at the still snoring Griffin who had turned over onto his back...
"he really does snore a lot doesnt he?" she laughed quietly to herself, tail flicking....
-
"ye i know, doing my head in now" she laughed as she went over and shook him gently, "that should do it for a while" Rachel went back over to Lireal and sat down again "i prefer to be on my own most of the time, listening to music, writing and drawing mainly. i dont know how i wound up friends with Griffin,"
-
Lireal laughed softly as Rachel sat down again...
"so... you two are... close, friends?"
she looked between her and Griffin, curiously, leaning back against the cave wall at the entrance...
-
Lane appeared at the cave entrance with a few leaves in his hand, with some cooked rabbit within them.
"The creatures on this planet are... agile." he managed to say before he fell over with a thump, unable to move anything. He had alot of trouble trying to catch the rabbits, even for his unnatural speed, they could turn and hide in their burrows, but he managed to throw some fire down one of the holes and toasted a few. He made a mental note to not try and hunt them ever again.
-
"No, no, no way..." Carol huffed. The painful feeling at last lifted from her mind, bringing with it a wave of tingles and jitters. She had seen the whole thing, from the start, frozen in place...she had watched as her boy was taken away in the arms of that thing. Not being able to do a thing about it.

"Yes... I'll help you... as for what you should do, take a deep breath, count to ten, and then ask me that question again when you've calmed down" Charles said, standing up.
The calming down part he had to recite from memory, part of the program the CIA put him through to make sure he was the man for the job.
-
The push made Griffin shift, and mumble.
"Okay... okay... no more snoring it is.... you two..."
He turned over, and went right on sleeping.
-
Rachel giggled "i dont think he'll be hunting anymore rabbits" she helped him to the wall of the cave, took the rabbit and set it down near Griffin "and to answer your question, we're the closest of friends" Rachel smiled and went back to Lireal
-
Lireal smiled, watching Rachel...
"thats nice.... and i dont think hes going to be hunting anything for a while"
she laughed quietly, wincing as she did so, a sharp pain flaring in one of her ribs.... Lorazys had a powerfull punch....
-
"No, no, no way..." Carol huffed. The painful feeling at last lifted from her mind, bringing with it a wave of tingles and jitters. She had seen the whole thing, from the start, frozen in place...she had watched as her boy was taken away in the arms of that thing. Not being able to do a thing about it.

The calming down part he had to recite from memory, part of the program the CIA put him through to make sure he was the man for the job.
Carol nodded slowly, then rose to her feet. Her legs instantly locked and if she hadn't of caught herself on the door frame, she would have fell completley. Barely holding herself up, she sucked in a lungful of air, holding it for as long as possible while she started to count mentally. Then she let it out with an audible whoosh. "Alright," she said. "Well, I'm asking you again. How do I do this? I have to get him back, you know that, right? I have to do it before something even more terrible than what he's went through already happens to him." She hobbled forward into the living room where he stood weakly, trying to regain her vitality.
-
"Mmmm... I smell something good... what is it?"
Griffin had woken up to them giggling.
"What's so funny? Was I snoring again?"
He tried propping himself up, but met with some difficulty.
-
"umm ye you were, but we were laughing at Lane. He decided not to chase rabbits anymore. have a good sleep?" Rachel pulled her knees up and smiled at him. "sorry i shook you a bit, kinda got annoying"
-
"I thought I smelled something."
Griffin stood up and moved over to rachel.
"Don't mind my battered body sitting here, do you?"
-
"course i dont, you sure you're okay?"
Rachel budged over to make room, then decided to sit on the skateboard beside Lireal and Griffin.
-
"Yeah... I'll be fine. I just had the snot beaten out of me, but I'll be fine."
He sat down beside Rachel.
"So... Lane had trouble catching rabbits? That is a little amazing."
-
Lireal shifted where she sat, biting back tears as the pain increased in her upper left rib... biting her lower lip she listened to the other two talking, breathing fast and shallow...
-
Rachel heard Lireal "we need to get her help" she went over to Lane and started shaking him "hey, come on, Lireal needs your help here!" she ran to her backpack and brought it over to Lireal
-
Griffin noticed Lireal in discomfort. He slid over and held her back.
"Woah! Careful! You aren't better yet. You gotta be careful with that rib. I think you over strained yourself."
-
Lireal shook her head, mumbling... "no no.... i dont need help...." even as she said it she winced again, clutching at the blossoming pain across her chest... "no Rachel.... I... ugh... think i fractured a rib from one of her punches" laying back against the cave wall she breathed deeply, trying to ignore the pain, biting so hard on her lower lip she almost drew blood...
-
"Lie down... Let me see that rib..."
He put her to a lieing position, then paused, remembering she was a she.
"Rachel, maybe you should check out the rib..."
-
she looked at Lane "well, he's not gonna be any good" then she looked at Lireal "alright but im going to need your help so just turn around with the bag" Rachel handed him the bag and when he was turned (and Rachel was sure he wasnt going to look) she took a look at the rib, "ok, im going to need bandages, and lots of them and, Lireal, i'll try not to put you in any more pain, ok? can you trust me?"
-
Lane woke up briefly to see Rachel examining Lireal, then passed out again. A few seconds later he heard Rachel say something abou bandages, but he passed out once more. Another couple of seconds passed by before he forced himself to say something. He got one word out before he was out cold, and that happened to be, "Leaf..."
-
Lireal nodded, a single tear rolling down her cheek as she bit down on her lip.... "yes... i trust you...."... the words burst from her in short gasps as she closed her eyes tight, breathing fast and shallow.... the pain peaked again, a sharp stab that pulsed through her very mind and she resisted the want to scream aloud, instead she clenched her jaw even tighter, feeling Rachel's soft and carefull touch over the rib....
-
Rachel gave instructions to Griffin to get Lane up and moving, while she made a cast around Lireal's body, trying her best not to move her as much as possible. when the process was done, she went over to Lane, went outside, came back in and threw water over him to wake him up.
-
Griffin got up, and was about to try and wake Lane, when he remembered what he said.
"Leaf... he brought leaves with him!"
He went over to pick up the leaves, and brought them to Rachel.
"Try using this. They had some meaning. I'll try and wake Lane."
He went back over to try and wake him up.
"Come on you pile of fur and bones... I got one of those leaves here... what are we supposed to do with it?"
-
Lane managed to get his tongue out and use it to make a "licking your chops" motion. He was trying to imply that it'd be eaten, for while he was hunting rabbits he found a few herbs native to his homeworld and made a little pain-killer / neosporin inside your body to help the healing process. Well, at least he thinks. He only had a little training in herbs and how mix them into a few things, the pain-killer part he knew he had for he's had to use it several times, but the rest was more of a guessing progress.
-
"Uh... we aren't eating rabbits here Lane... I think he is dreaming..."
Griffin stopped and looked around at the plant. He thought it was Aloe... or... maybe something else...
"I don't know... just try all the ways. We have enough leaves for a little bit... put it on the wound, bite it to a pulp... or... can she eat it? Try letting her eat it."
He turned back to Lane.
"I really hope it isn't poisonous."
-
Lireal grimaced as Mystique tried binding her ribs with the bandages, though it would keep the rib in place and stop it fracturing any more it hurt like nothing she had ever experienced before...
"agh.... hurts.... really, hurts!"....
Tears ran down her cheeks as she clenched her jaw against the pain... she listened as best she could to what the others where saying, when Griffin mentioned eating it she stared doubtfully at the dark green leaves..... but as a fresh wave of pain burst from her chest he let out a low moan, tail flicking angrily....
"fine... let me eat it!..." she tried to get into a sitting position and instantly regretted it, pain searing across her bound chest....
-
Lane still had his tongue out as he dreamed that he woke up to see an army of various creatures invading the Earth. He could only see the attacks and random deaths of his people, for he didn't know what the enemy weapons were like, or what they could do. Even so, his people were far too skilled for the Human warriors and was taking the territory. It was the continent known as "Europe" that was being invaded. It wouldn't last two days.

"Any information of what those things were? Where'd they come from... who are they... and why did they have a particular interest in your son"
He glanced back at the picture, studying the child's features until he could bring them up from memory, it would come in handy later.
"When I came in... it looked like you had already talked to the first creature... what did it say?"
-
Rachel gave her the leaves, finished what she was doing and sat back, "alright, i tried my best and hope that works. i wish he wasnt unconcious though" she looked towards Lane, closed her eyes and sighed. she opened them again and gave a smile "we can only hope for the best"
-
Lireal gagged on the leaves, almost throwing up she forced them down with a shudder.... laying back she clutched her side, groaning, but... was it just her, or did the pain actually feel slightly numbed?.... gritting her teeth she breathed slow and calmly, ignoring the stabbing pain in her right side and focussed entirely on Rachel in front of her, trying not to pass out....
-
Carol let out a deep breath, closing her eyes. "Oh God. I've never known why.......these things have had such an interest in him. Just.....he came home a day ago screaming about being bit by a unicorn, and first thing I know he's sick as a dog and the thing that bit him comes breaking into his room trying to bite him again. The creature, he said that he was helping Jordan, helping him feel better. Said he didn't want any trouble. But all that really happened was my boy got turned into one of them too." In utter anger intertwined with confused despair, she slammed her fist down on an end table, making the glass in the picture frames rattle. She lowered her head into the crook of her arm, sobbing weakly. "I swear...I swear I'm gonna kill that monster. I'm gonna kill him."
_____________
Neco set the boy down on a bed of moist aspen leaves, spread out specifically for resting inside a makeshift tent. 'Tent City' had unfortunatley been the most creative name his superiors could come up with for their Base, though it fit perfectly. It was, for the most part, made up of tent after tent, set up in strategic positions on a wooded hillside, secluded miles away from human society. It was often cold to be up this high, near the base of the mountain, and it was also dangerous, considering the many jagged cliff faces. But it was far better than being near people.
I have arrived at Base safely, Lorazys. I shall perform a cleansing then come help you, be I needed. He Thought.
Next to the bed was a tiny wooden table, carved with various insignas and intricate symbols. And on top of that, there rested several medical devices that looked more feral than usuable. They were not made of metal, nor did they contain any advanced, alien forms of technology. They were simply made of wood, of rock, of bone, of natural things.
He took one of them, a long bone hallowed out with its ends removed, and blowed on it gingerly. It let out a mournful tweet.
Then Neco proceeded to rub the sides of the boy's face, mumbling words in an eccentric tounge, so slurred together that even one of his own race would not be able to understand. This was an ancient ritual for cleansing. Had he forgotten to do it...the boy would have been stone-dead within a day.
-
moving forward, Rachel helped ease Lireal down before she passed out. She finally turned to Lane, folded her arms, sat cross-legged and spoke to Griffin, "i think he's down for the count. what do you think we should do with him?"
-
Lane snarled in his sleep, as he was fighting a giant ant-thing. So far the battle had been going in his favor, but ever since he tripped over that purple rock, he had been seeing random rainbows appear in battle, and they disrtacted him as his foe was able to get a hit in. Of course he didn't feel anything, but he hated the fact that he had gotten hit.
-
Lorazys walked slowly into Tent City with half the deer in one hand. She walked into Neco's tent and watched the child on his bed. "I brought food. Subject 1's now able to cover his tracks. He has even learned to prevent the release of his pheromones, I can't even sniff him out. Eat up, you both will need it. *Kneels down next to the child and looks at him.* He really has become a spinning image of you. I'm assuming you've cleansed him?"
-
Lireal quietly thanked Rachel as she settled her softl down, before finally passing out... her breathing slowed to a calm and steady speed...
-
"Well, we need to make sure they are safe. I mean, they did save us. It is the least we can do for them."
He sat down next to her, making sure none of the bandages fell off.
"Still. The fact remains that we now have giant animal people landing on earth with the intent of turning us into them. Not that I disagree with that, but they need to do it in a different way. These two are probably the only ones that will listen to reason, and one of them is passed out and one is chasing rabbits."
-
Lorazys walked slowly into Tent City with half the deer in one hand.
"Yes, I have." Neco moved closer to the deer and carefully started slicing tidbits off with his claws for eating pleasure. Nearby, the child's breaths were shallow as his lungs were adjusting to their new parameters, and his eyes were closed in a sullen sleep. "Would you like me to try and feed him?" Neco asked, uncertain. It was questionable whether the new one would wake up without tremendous assistance...
-
Lorazys knelt next to the child and brushed the hair aside from his face. She watched as the child slept and got up, turned around, and left. She stopped just short of the entrance. "Feed him when he wakes up. He will need his energy. *Looks up to the moon and sighed* Make sure that if you see Subject 1, run away and contact me. We cannot risk the two to meet yet, and we cannot afford to lose you, either. I'll continue my hunt until we need to convert more people. Stay safe." Lorazys took a deep breath and broke into a quick run, weaving through the trees with her senses on full alert.
-
Lireal moaned lightly, she turned over in her sleep, eyes opening slowly.... the pain had almost all gone, however she felt numb and drowsy...
"Ugh... wash goinnsh on?"
Her speach was so slurred even she had hardly recognised it... stopping for a second she sat up, looking over at Griffin...
"Whats.... whats going on?"
-
Griffin smiled
"We almost lost you for a second there. Good thing you ate those leaves."
He patted her head and stood up.
"Now, lets work on waking up Lane. Are you feeling better?"
-
Lireal frowned for a second, trying to think about what Griffin had said...
"Leaves?... but... i didnt eat any....."
She frowned and felt around in her mouth with her tongue... she pulled out a few strands of dark green leaves that had turned to chewy gunk in her mouth...
"Yuck!... Bleh..."
She spat the green mess out, the taste was disgusting... She flinched for a second as he patted her head, causing a slight twinge of pain in her rib, but nothing too bad... Sitting further upright she felt down underneath her torn and bloodstained shirt to her bandaged ribs... her paw drew back as she touched the rib, a slight jolt of pain but nothing more... she really had been lucky...
"I'm feeling good.... if sore, bruised and feeling like my brain is being smashed against the side of my head...."
-
"Well, hopefully that will go away. Now lie back and get some rest. I am going to try and wake up lane."
He got up from the crouch and went over to Lane.
"Come on sleepyhead, wake up. We need everyone awake in order to move along here!"
-
Lane opened his eyes quickly and then looked at Griffin. He quickly stood up and scanned the cave. Not much changed. That was good.
"How are the others?" he finally asked as he sniffed the air. He couldn't help but be suspicious. Especially since he didn't know hopw long he'd been asleep.
"Did the leaves work?"
-
"Yeah they did. Rachel is sleeping, Lireal is lying down, and it seems like I am doing almost everything... but I am glad you are OK"
He felt his chest where he had been scratched.
"I had some leaves too, and it seems to be working. I feel a whole lot better."
He moved over and crouched next to him.
"So... what are we going to do about this whole mess..."
-
Lireal looked up as Lane awoke... she grunted slightly as she shifted where she lay so she could see the other two and settled down, running a paw lightly over her rib and chest.... miraculously it seem to be setting well, and the leaves had dulled the pain to a muffled throb....
Sitting up a little further she watched Lane and Griffin, listening to the conversation with interest, tail flicking curiously....
-
"My vote... Uhg I can't think with my skull throbbing like this" Lane said as he put his head up against the cave wall, trying to forcibly make his head feel smaller.
(sorry for the short post, but my head is like blehg)
-
Lireal watched Lane, gritting her teeth she sat up fully, tail flicking.... She had never experienced major pain before in her life, Earth really was proving a whole new experience, in more than one way.....
"Well..... i say we rest here until.... until we're feeling up to walking.... thats as far as i can think..."
She looked up at Griffin, then back to Lane, sighing she looked over herself... she noted the now blood stained and torn clothing, and then blood soaked bandages, but other than that.... nothing so bad as to be life threatening....
-
"Okay then... we'll rest here..."
He went over to the wall nearest the entrance and sat there.
"I'll take first watch."
-
Lireal nodded and watched Griffin as he sat at the entrance...
"Uh... thank you.... thank you so much...."
With that she shifted back into a more comfortable position and closed her eyes, breathing calmly and trying to get back to sleep....
-
Lane couldn't fall asleep again, so instead he started playing with a small ball of fire in his right hand. It wasn't much larger than that of a Lighter's flame, but it was hotter than any simple lighter could produce. Lane was using the fire as a calming technique, which had proven itself in previous ventures, and it worked quite often. After a while, he lost all thought process, and barely blinked as he stared into what he could create as easily as the average person could walk.
-
"Heh, you can create fire too?" Griffin was making small talk.
"Wow, what can't you guys do?"
-
Lireal rolled over, mewling slightly.... unlike Lane sleep had come as soon as her eyes closed.... flicking her tail subconsciously twice she curled up, breathing quietly....
-
"they cant shut up" Rachel woke up slowly. She was so tired but didn't know why. "ok, my turn to take watch, dont bother saying no" she got up and walked over to the entrance, "if i fall asleep wake me up asap!"
-
((Hey! You're back on!))
"Okay! Your the boss!"
He sits next to the entrance near Rachel.
"So, how are you feeling."
-
Lireal rolled over, snuffling in her sleep.... staying curled up she dreamed of nothing, merely the dark warmth of sleep.... her tail flicked twice and then was still again as she opened her eyes and yawned widely.... stretching she yawned again, every joint in her body cracking.... lying on her side she listened to the sound of Griffin and Rachel talking....
-
((for a little while, yeah))
"i am sleepier than usual but apart from that, im pretty good" Rachel shrugged and looked out the cave entrance. she missed her home. she thought about how Lireal and Lane must feel and looked at Lireal "how is she holding up?"
-
Lireal turned over, and looked over to Rachel, forcing a half-hearted smile..
"I'm fine.... just a bit of rest and i'l be back to my usual self..."
She lay back against the cave wall, tail flicking in impatience..... she was not the kind of person who liked sitting around waiting all the time.... and if it wasnt for the fact her rib could fracture again if she wasnt carefull, she would have already been up and out of the cave...
Pushing herself up into a sitting position Lireal felt across her rib for swelling or inflaming... even this small moment of movement was hard and painfull, but she was pleased to know that she could move without breaking anything...
-
Lane stood up abruptly and walked toward the cave entrance. After sniffing the air for a moment he simply walked out and began walking in the direction of a spring in the forest. Of course he did this without saying anything, as he didn't feel the need too.
-
"Aaand lane is walking out on his own accord. Seems like him. You think we should go with him?"
-
"Nah..... if he's gone he's gone.... but hopefully he wont leave us.... maybe he just wanted to be alone for a while?..."
Lireal pushed herself up onto two feet with the help of the cave wall... she gritted her teeth in pain as she did so... but managed to stand up, even if her balance was a bit shaky....
Taking a few tentative steps she walked over to the entrance of the cave and sat down beside Griffin and Rachel, the cool breeze from outside calming....
-
"You know, that fur looks really cool... what i wonder is how you guys evolved into a species that is so diverse..." he said, looking at Lireal's fur.
-
Lireal looked up at Griffin, smiling she looked down at her silver fur..... "Well... you know thats exactly what i thought when i first saw humans.... so much variation, from country to country...."
She smiled, tail flicking... talking had made her completely forget about the pain in her rib, she sat up, watching Griffin with interest...
"you say it looks cool... to me my fur is nothing special... to me your the interesting and... 'cool'... one..."
She smirked, the pain in her side nothing more than a slight twinge...
-
Lane wasn't in the forest long before he heard a noise to his left. As he looked, he noticed that it was a male deer, otherwise known as a Buck. It was breathing heavily and preparing for a charge. Apparently Lane was trespassing or the Buck saw him as a challenger that he could beat down to impress some ladies, but as Lane looked around it became obvious that it was territorial. Lane sighed as he positioned himself correctly, grabbing onto a low branch behind him, he prepared himself to lunge.
The Buck raced forward, antlers out front, ready to stab Lane as it got close. On the last possible second Lane used the branch's leverage to throw himself sideways as the buck ran right into the tree. Unfortunately the Buck's head was harder than it was supposed to be for the plan to work, and it prepared itself for another attack. Lane's eye twitched in annoyance at the creature's determination. This time he faced the Buck as it ran toward him, but this time Lane grabbed the antlers head on, getting a cut on his middle finger. After being pushed back a few feet, Lane dug his claws into the ground, and began pushing back, eventually gaining enough of an advantage to flip the buck on it's side. Afterwards he singed the buck's fur to make it afraid so that it would flee and tell its friends to avoid him. Nature's a (beep)
-
"Heh, the skin you mean. Eh, it's pretty normal around here. Some people fight over which color of skin is better, but i tend to leave that in the past. I would trade you, fur for skin. It's been a fascination for me sort of."
He looked into nothing
"Heh, there is a whole group of people like me. We are called Furries."
-
Lireal listened to Griffin with interest, her head cocked slightly to one side in a curious pose...
"This... group... could you explain it a little to me?... what do you mean fascination, youve only seen my kind today...."
She flicked her tail in curiosity, her pain in the rib forgotten now...
-
"Well, they have more of a connection to animals. We usually draw them, dress up in suits, and talk to people over our communication networks. See?"
Griffin pulled out his iPod Touch and flipped to a bunch of different photos of anthropomorphic animals.
"We think they are cooler than the ususal muscle clad beasts that people usualy draw."
-
Lireal leaned over to look at the Ipod touch, she stiffled a snigger at the technology, thinking of it almost as 'retro'...
"that is kinda strange, that people draw.... I, I suppose its a fluke, pure chance.... but neverthless strange..."
She looked from Griffin to the Ipod and back again.... She smirked, tail flicking...
"So... you are part of this group.... and you would rather have this fur?... and a tail?"
-
"Yeah! That would be awesome! Better than the nerdy human I look like. There are some people who have tried it with the technology we have now... with mixed results..."
He shuddered... thinking of CatGuy.
"But, there are a ton of us who think like I do. It's a furries wildest dream to become an animal Anthro. Although... some want to be the Feral version, or just have the ears and a tail. I like the straight result though."
-
Lireal listened to him curiously, still looking at the images on the ipod...
"So... you really would want to be like me?..... willingly, if.... if, let’s say it could happen, theoretically.... would you?"
She flicked her tail in curiosity, sitting opposite Griffin she rested her chin on her paws, watching him closely and intently...
-
Griffin didn't hesitate an answer
"Yes! Definitely! Just as long as it was the real deal, and not some long process that turned out a failure!"
He stopped.
"Could... could you do that?"
-
She stopped.. either that was a lucky guess or humans where smarter than she credited them for.... she paused, thinking to herself, what to tell him...
"Well..... You, you really would want that?"
She paused again, tail flicking anxiously... she sighed, looking up at him...
"Yes... yes, i could do that...."
-
Shiro was agasp. All his fantasies, maybe not his dreams, could become true. He stopped.
"Wait... these things usually have a catch... is there something that might go wrong?"
-
Lireal sighed again, looking away for a moment, her tail flicking in anxiety...
"Yes.... Griffin... I can see this would, that this would mean a lot to you.... but its a painfull transition.... i dont... i dont even know if you would survive.... that is the catch..."
She watched intently, tail still flicking rapidly.. she shifted her position, crossing her legs but still facing Griffin...
"That.... that is why i wouldn't force it on you.... why, why even if you chose too... i would still hesitate, if only for a moment..."
-
He thought about it. What would happen. Who he would become. An ambassador, that would be sure... but he might not survive. And Rachel... what would she think? This had been his dream for the longest time.
He set his mind.
"Okay, we will do it, but I want to talk to Lane first. Just to run it by him."
-
Lireal nodded, shrugging slightly as well... this was his choice.....
"Griffin.... think about it.... i wouldnt want to be the one who.... just think about it please..."
She attempted a smile, but it was only halfhearted, betrayed by her ears which where flat down beside her medium length dark hair, and her tail which had finally stopped swishing....
-
"No. I want to go through with it. I just need to talk to lane first."
(srry for short post... only a little time on comp)
-
Lireal nodded again, though still half heartedly... maybe telling hadnt been the best of ideas.... well it was too late, what Lane would say she did not know... Sighing she leant back against the cave wall, watching Griffin with interest... he seemed high spirited and strong hearted... she supposed he could survive the process... though in all honesty... she did not know herself...
"Well fine... as long as you've thought about it... because, this really would change your life forever... whether for better or for worst, i dont know...."
(no probs)
-
Rachel listened to the conversation, pretending to be busy with other things. If Griffin wanted to become like them, she wouldnt get in his way. Yes he was her only friend and yes she would miss him but she couldnt stop him from doing what he wants because of her silly thoughts and feelings. Rachel got up and headed out, turning back to Lireal and Griffin "umm, im just heading out for a little while ok? see ya'll later!" She ran outside and back on the street.
-
Lireal watched Rachel run out, she looked back to Griffin and then lay back against the cave wall of the entrance, wincing slightly at the pain in her side.... tail flicking twice she watched Griffin curiously from where she lay....
"So you just gonna wait for Lane here then..."
It wasnt a question, more of a statement of what she had guessed Griffin was going to do...
-
Griffin's mind lurched the moment that Rachel had run out of the cave.
"Rachel WAIT!"
He had about a 1 second war of the mind. The Rachel side won.
"Stay here. I'll be right back. Tell lane what I have decided. I gotta go get Rachel back!"
He ran out of the cave after her.
-
Lireal smirked, watching Griffin run after her...
"Will do... she can't have gone far..."
its what she herself would have done in his place after all....
Rolling over onto her side she curled up, closing her eyes her breathing slowed, hopefully after a rest she would be well enough to walk properly...
-
Rachel slowed her pace and turned back to see Griffin coming. She turned back around and kept walking. She didnt know why she felt sad and annoyed at the fact he wanted to go with "them" but she did know she wasnt in the mood to talk about it. Rachel put on a smile and finally turned to face him, "im just going back to the house for a while ok?"
-
Griffin gave her a look.
"No you are not. I haven't been your best friend for nothing. Please don't go. You are the only person I have."
He stopped. "Litterally. My parents don't pay attention to me, my friends are not really friends. You are the only person."
Griffin blushed.
-
Lane walked back to the cave to see Lireal sitting there alone. "Where'd the other two go?" he asked quickly before sitting down on the wall opposite of Lireal.
(guess who's back from his trip to serbia!"
-
Lireal looked up at Lane and gave a half-hearted smile, wincing as she sat upright...
"Dunno... Rachel walked off... and Griffin's gone to find her.... I was just having a sleep until you came back, the ribs getting better..."
She lay back against the wall, massaging her bandaged side where the fractured rib was.... She watched Lane curiously, wincing slightly as another pang of pain ran through the rib...
((omg, your back! Serbia must of been awesome! :3 ))
-
"I just hope they dont run into anything to serious. Otherwise we might not be able to help.", Lane said in response. "What happened while I was gone? Anything interesting?"
((sure was... sure was...))
-
If she didnt feel bad earlier, Rachel sure felt bad now. "Griffin ... you're the only person I have in this world also, but If you want to go with Lireal and Lane, do that! I can survive on my own and I know you'll be much more happier and I wont hold you back" This felt like torture. She could feel her smile faultering and warmth in her eyes, but no way was she going to cry.
-
"No. If you aren't going to be with me, I won't do it. It is an amazing oppertunity. But I need you. I... really need you."
He put his hands on her shoulders.
"I need you. Please... don't go."
-
Lireal shrugged, looking nervously down at her paws...
"I may have divulged some... information.... which im not sure if i should have.... and im not sure how their taking it..."
She sneaked a glance up at Lane, and then looked back down at her paws...
"But no, not really anything too interesting... kinda..."
-
Rachel tried to process what Griffin was telling her. Becoming like Lireal and Lane would be a great oppertunity and it's not as if she had much of a life to go back to "I ... I think I have no choice" She smiled, putting her hands on his "i'm in"
-
Griffin smiled, and hugged Rachel gently.
"Thank you. Thank you for understanding... come on. Lane may be back now..."
-
"ok, lets go" Rachel started walking back to the caves, taking Griffins hand, let out a sigh and smiled "well the world gets rid of two trouble makers, that is if Lireal and Lane will change us into there kind. I think Lane might object"
-
Shiro smiled, took her hand, and walked with her back to the cave. He saw Lane had returned and he was talking to Lireal.
"Lane! We have decided. Lireal says that you can turn us into your kind. We want you to do that to us!"
-
Lireal winced as Shiro shouted it out... she whistled, looking up at eh ceiling of the cave...
"Yeah... that information..... he was okay with it Lane, i didnt force anything on them!"
She sounded defensive, looking from Lane to Rachel, it was obvious she was unsure just how Lane would react.....
-
Lane took a deep breath as he just realized what Lireal was talking about.
"And are you aware of what might happen? If you do this, it'll be extremely painful and you have a higher possibility of dying than surviving the process. We don't know what kind of people are able to handle this transformation. It could have something to do with genetics, or just sheer will.", Lane said as he looked straight into Shiro's eye, as if putting an intense amount of pressure on him just by looking.
-
Griffin felt it.
"I have the will. I have the will to change. How do I do this exactly?"
-
Lireal watched Griffin curiously... he really did seem resolute... with a slight grunt of pain she pushed herself into a crouching position, and then stood up, leaning against the cave wall....
"Well.... agh, that still hurts... well, all you gotta do is come into contact with one of us.... skin contact could work, but the best way is... well...."
She took a step away from the wall, breathing a sigh of relief when her rib gave her no pain...
"Mine or Lane's blood or saliva has to enter your blood stream... like we said, it WILL be painfull... and yeah, it is a bit gross to be honest"
-
"Using blood insterad of saliva is believed to be more effective, but harder to achieve for obvious reasons.", Lane stated, eyes not coming off of Griffin.
-
Lireal took a few more tentative steps, wincing ever so slightly, but maintaining her balance... once she reached the other side of the cave she leant against it, a feeling of relief.... She down at the bandaging, and then back up at Rachel...
"Looks like your quick thinking saved my life back there...."
With that, she continued to watch Lane and griffin...
-
"Well, we have something that might help... half a sec..."
Griffin turned and ran a few blocks to the nearest drugstore. He bought a package of clean needles, with several strange looks from the owner.
"Not going out to do drugs?"
Griffin payed and remarked, "No, much crazier."
He dashed back as fast as he could to the cave.
"I hope this works. You stick it into your skin and withdraw blood. Then I will inject it into mine. I bought a couple in case we mess up..."
-
Rachel gave a nervous laugh and rubbed her arm "hehehe ... blood ... NEEDLES ... wonderful idea ..." She sat down a minute, trying no to think about it all too much "so uh, we gonna do it or what?"
-
Lireal walked over and took one of the needles, eyeing it closely she looked from the needle, to her arm... Shuddering slightly she stuck the needle into her upper arm, and drew the blood... pulling the needle out she shrugged.... "I was always afraid of needles as a child... guess some things never change..." She held the small phial of blood up to the sunlight spilling into the cave, it was a warm crimson colour... so different from her light, silvery fur....
-
"Well... here goes nothing..." Griffin said. Motioning for Lireal to hand him the vial.
-
Lireal looked from the vial, to Griffin, and back again several times... finally she walked over to him, and handed the vial over. She gave him a brief hug, wincing slightly at the pain in her rib...
"You'l pull through... you two saved my life i reckon... you gotta pull through...."
With that she smiled half heartedly, and stepped away from him she turned from the group, already drawing another vial of blood for Rachel if she decided to go through with it as well... if anyone where watching, they would have seen she was brushing away a single tear.... they had to pull through....
-
Rachel gulped and started to play with her fingers, "uhm, Lireal, can i ask you something?" She pulled her to the side, out of the guys earshot "uhm, i dont kno how to say this but, if i dont make it and Griffin does, can you promise me you'll look after him?"
-
Lireal looked into Rachel's eyes, and half smiled... You'l make it... you've got to make it... i owe you my life..." She paused, and looked back over at Griffin... "But if it means that much to you.... yes, i will..."
With that she embraced Rachel in a brief hug... tail flicking nervously...
-
Lane just watched the entire process, not choosing to pick up a needle himself. Something inside of him was screaming that he should at least put his blood out there, but something else that was much more subtle was flat out saying, "No". Lane had decided to stick with the "No" unless they had asked for his blood, and come up with a reasonable reason as to why he should.
-
"thank you" Rachel hugged her back and went over to the other side of the cave beside Griffin, "Ok, lets hurry up and get this show on the road" She prayed she would come out of this alive but if she didnt, at least she knew Griffin would be in safe hands.
-
Lireal sat down hurriedly, feeling as if she wanted to throw up.... she chewed on her thumb nervously, rocking backwards and forwards ever so slightly as she watched Rachel walk back over to Griffin... she looked away, physically urging herself not to feel so sick.... her tail flicked in earnest as she looked up at Lane, he stood silent and resolute... she looked back down to the ground... wondering just what he thought of her... was she as bad as Lorazys had been?
-
"Well... here goes everything..." he said, taking in one more long look at Rachel.
"If I do die... i just want to say... I love you....."
Stuck the needle into his arm and pushed the plunger down. He never once took his eyes off of Rachel.
Then the pain hit. Like a train. Not too much, but a burning sensation all over his body. He fell to his knees as a reddish fur started to grow from his body, a tail to sprout, and his face to elongate.
"This.... feels really..... weird... but...... not as bad as having.... all of my bones broken...... just different...."
-
Lireal walked out of the cave just before Griffin pushed the plunger, she leant against the outside of the cliff face, feeling positively sick.... breathing deeply she sat down, leaning against the rock she closed her eyes, breathing.... wait... hadnt she just walked all of the way out the cave?...
She stood up, barely wincing... she took several tentative steps, and when her rib gave almost no pain.... took a few more.... after a while of pacing across the entrance to the cave she sat back down.... unwilling to go in and see what had happened....
-
"You haven't seen anything yet.", Lane said to Griffin as he walked over and knelt next to Griffin. "Right now you're growing things that the body can identify, hair and the compounds in a tail. It is when your organs begin to rearrange and your body has to suddenly produce a mass set of new chemicals and compounds to suit your new form. Not to mention those that get powers from this transformation go through a serious headache process because the brain is morphing, allowing access and more usage of specific parts. It is because of this new access that our society has been able to teleport across worlds, rather than fly by space shuttle, because we gain a higher intelligence. But that's for another time, for now I would brace myself for what's about to come.", Lane continued calmly. It wasn't average for someone not to be freaking out right about now, but considering what he's seen today it'll probably be easy to shrug off growing a coat. Lane remained next to Griffin for further analysis, in case something unusual happened.
-
Lireal sat, cross-legged in the shade of a nearby tree.... she was going to try what she hadnt tried before.. using her power in daylight... up until now she could only use it at night, when the stars where out... But... if she concentrated hard enough...
Her breathing slowed down, as she tried not to think about Griffin or Rachel... opening her eyes again her fur glowed a soft silver, standing slowly, as if not wanting to break her concentration... she walked straight through the tree, her form flickering and vanishing for a split second as she passed through the solid matter... reaching the other side, she clenched one paw into a fist, whispy silver light flickering across her fur...
"its as easy as that..."
-
Rachel gazed into his eyes as she watched Griffin starting the transformation, "I love you too ..." She took a deep breathe and inserted the needle, looking away from it as she injected. It was painful rush that swept through her, but she kept thinking of Griffin. Rachel gripped her side as her skin changed into blackish grey fur and a tail started to grow.
-
"Yeah... there is the headache..." he grinned though his teeth. "Woah.... hey I can see my nose?" he looked down his new snout, which had grown a reddish coat on it. He could feel his ears moving to the top of his head and elongating. He fell over in the fetal position.
"This.... is a new experience for sure...."
Never once did he take his mind off of Rachel. The thought of her numbed the pain tremendously, even when his organs moved through his body like insects.
"Yeah... new experience...."
-
Lireal laughed softly under her breath... she had almost entirely forgotten about being worried, slipping through the immaterial world was positively easy if you concentrated!
With a loud ~SMACK!~ she collided with a tree and fell to the ground, standing back up and rubbing her forehead she mumbled under he breath...
"Almost positively easy...."
Lireal was young for her race, it was hard to judge but she reckoned she could be as much as half the age of Lane.... though that was a very rough guess.... maybe three quarters of the age... this momentary lapse in concentration caused her to collide with ANOTHER tree, again with a loud ~oof!~
Brushing herself off she frowned...
"Note to self, keep concentrating when trying to walk through trees...."
-
Lane got up and left the cave, just in time to see Lireal run into the second tree. He smirked a little as he realized what she was trying to do, but obviously failing. It wasn't hard for him to get his mind off the two transforming humans. Compared to the stuff he's seen before, what they were going through was nothing. They would survive, and of that he had no doubt. He looked up at the sun, and then back down to his hands as he wondered how strong his body would allow him to get. With that thought in mind, he sent a fireball at a nearby boulder, scorching it a little bit, but not enough to cause any damage.
-
Lireal looked over to see Lane smirking at the cave entrance... she blushed, tail flicking...
"Oh... hi Lane... just... just practicing... still cant quite get the hang of it every time... i suppose it would be harder when the stars arent out but..."
She stopped, realising she was babbling incoherently... She sat down at the base of the tree, watching as Lane tried launching a fireball at a nearby rock, the resulting heatwave washed over the clearing like a literal rush of hot water.... Taking a deep breath she tried to concentrate again, the fur across her paw shone a wavering silver colour, and slowly, she slid her whole arm through the trunk of the tree and out the other side...
Where her arm ended and the tree began, light itself seemed to bend and blur, her fur shining and wavering... she pulled her arm back out and the edges reformed themselves into sharp lines.. she clenched and unclenched her paw a few times.. looking back over at Lane...
-
Griffin felt his organs settle into place in his body.
"Oooh... that feels really wierd.... huh?"
He looked down at his hands. They had fur and pads on them, covered in red fur. He still fit in his clothes, but his glasses lay on the floor, unneeded any more.
"This... is really..." he caught sight of his tail. "Cool.."
He looked over at Rachel, who was lying on the ground.
"Rachel! Are you feeling okay?" he felt her pulse. Normal.
-
Lane's ears perked up as he heard Griffin talk. He didn't want to walk back in the cave, but he was curious as to what he looked like. Last Lane could remember about the scene was that Griffin was growing red hair. Lane also wondered why Griffin hadn't been in agony, or anything such as that. All Lane could think about was that it could either be that Griffin had a strong will to live, or it was in his genes. Or both.
-
Lireal stood up and walked tentatively over to the entrance, wincing slightly every time her left paw touched the ground.... she stopped beside the entrance... taking several breaths and listening... Griffin was talking, presumably to Rachel... that meant Griffin at least had survived..... She looked down at her paw, the edges blurred and shifted like the ghostly trail left by a fast moving object on a photograph... she smirked to herself... time to make an entrance....
Taking a deep breath she stood facing the cliff-side, just three metres or so through the rock was the cave wall.... it would be the thickest things she had ever passed through.... that she WOULD pass through.. she could do it!...
Taking one last breath she held he concentration, and stepped into the rock face, she flinched instinctively and closed her eyes.... She took two more steps, and then opened them just in time to see her form flicker back from its ghostly image.... she smiled internally... she had just... walked through a wall!....
The moment was spoiled however when she then stubbed her paw on a large rock, almost falling over she swore loudly...
"Frack!.... well there goes the big entrance..."
-
Griffin sat down next to Rachel's body, looking up when Lireal came into the room through the wall.
"Well... it worked. I guess me breaking all of my bones helped a little."
He looked down at his... paws, he guessed he could call them, and turned them back and forth, seeing the reactions. He then remembered. He grabbed the fox keychain off of his belt buckle.
"Hey, I know this is a vanity thing, but do I look vaguely like this?"
-
Lireal took two steps forward, muttering under her breath about stupid boulders getting in the way.... Then stopped abruptly, and looked Griffin up and down....
She cleared her throat, taking the keychain and holding it up... she looked from the keychain, to the new Griffin... she cleared her throat again...
"Uh.... actually thats kinda wierd.... yeah i'd say pretty similar..."
She handed the keychain back, shuffling her feetpaws awkwardly...
"Hows Rachel doing, is she okay?"
She tried to lean around Griffin to see Rachel's body, a slight shiver of fear running down her spine to the tip of her tail where it ended in with a swift flick...
-
"She will be fine. I think the organ moving is over with, and she is stable. Breathing is steady, pulse is normal... she will pull through."
He petted the fur on Rachel's face lovingly.
"You know, she and I literally grew up together. We met when we were really young and clicked. Then we started growing up, I became an outcast in one way, and she another. I think I have always loved her. I don't know..."
He brushed some of her new hair out of her face. She was beautiful...
-
Lireal nodded, looking Shiro over from behind... he was right though, Rachel was breathing, visible even from where Lireal was standing... she scuffed her paw against the ground again, biting her bottom lip...
"I'l uh.... I'l leave you alone if you want..."
With that she turned round, and decided to try walking back through the wall just like she had before.. it hadnt been that hard after all.... she took two steps, closed her eyes... and met the cave wall with a sharp ~crack!~ and fell backwards, stemming a flow of blood from her nose and muzzle... she stood shakily back up, wiping some of the blood away....
"Guess i was too cocky... harder than it looks..."
She mumbled quietly, before giving up on going outside and sitting down, watching Griffin instead...
-
Griffin looked up suddenly at lireal.
"What is it? Are you okay?" He was shocked. "Why are your powers dissapearing now? You should talk to Lane."
-
She pinched her nose, laughing softly...
"Disappearing? My powers where never fully fledged..."
She blushed, even though she didnt know why, looking away from Griffin...
"I'm young, very young... for my.. i mean, our race..."
She sighed, unpinching her nose when no more blood ran...
"I shouldnt bother Lane.. it's fine... just practice i suppose..."
-
All of a sudden a loud rumble came from outside the cave. Lane had been shooting fireballs at the same boulder that wouldn't break, and then suddenly got extremely angry at the boulder and threw a fireball at the boulder that pretty much broke the thing. It was a blue fire he had never been able to procure before, and he probably wouldn't for a long time. His temper still flaring, he cursed at himself for his lack of strength. After that, he felt normal. He had just needed to lash out at something, let it all out y'know?
-
"Well it sounds like he is practicing outside too, by the sound of it."
he looked down at his paws.
"So, you and Lane have powers? Wow... i was wondering that since we are now like you guys, we got something like it. How did you guys get your powers?"
-
Lireal looked up at Griffin, it was still weird to see him... well... as he was now... she looked down at her own paws, and with a moment of concentration, they became ghostly and silver up to her forearms... if you tried to look directly at the area affected by her power, your concentration would always be inexplicably diverted, like trying to look at a really bright object...
She stopped, her fur returning to its normal silver, and looked up at Griffin... "When i was.... about six, if you translate it into a human age... i just had this feeling.... i knew i could do it.... and i could... well, not very well... and even now i find it hard..."
She stood up, pulling a face of disgust at the blood which had soaked into her T-shirt from her nosebleed... "I guess you could have powers... i dont know.... by the way Griffin, you know any places round here i could get some new clothes? mine arent really wearable any more..."
She motioned to her Shirt which was torn from the fight with Lorazys, and covered in her own blood from the nosebleed...
-
"Yeah I do, but the only problem is that you are a walking cat and I am a walking fox. And Rachel here is a walking wolf (i am pretty sure that is what you are, Mystique :D). I will have to sneak into the area, but the CIA has the whole place under sanction, which is gonna make our job a whole lot harder."
He still was petting Rachel absentmindedly.
"I think she should be waking up soon..."
-
Lireal sighed, nodding... Griffin was right of course.... well... unless she could sneak in, ghostlike powers would be usefull for sneaking the clothes away....
"Dont worry... i have a feeling no one is gonna see me go in... or out.."
She stood up, hitching her jeans further up her hips and turned towards the cave wall...
"Take it easy Griffin... dont go getting yourself hurt after you survived all this okay.."
She smirked, and then, took three steps straight through the cave wall... Once on the other side she set off at a light jog towards the town, it was night-time, and so what she was going to do would be made all the easier... concentrating as she ran she shifted her whole body into what she had nicknamed 'the ghostrealm'.... to any passing observers she would have almost completely disappeared, visible only as a flicker of light and shadows...
~~~~
Once at the back door of a suitable looking clothes shop she paused for a second, and walked through the door.... she smiled to herself.... it did seem to be getting easier... if anyone took a shot at her, the concentration would be broken, and she would be hit... but for sneaking around.... well, it sure was usefull...
She set off along the aisles of clothes, trying to find somthing that would fit...
-
Lane walked into the cave, his paws steaming from the heat of his fireballs. "So you're alive. The both of you it seems.", Lane said, waving his paws in the air to cool them down a bit. He'd gotten used to the heat since he'd gotten his powers, but he still wasnt even close to his prime. "Where'd she run off to?" Lane asked. He was refering to Lireal, of course.
-
"She is off getting new clothes. She has been acting a little strange though... is that normal for your species to suddenly lose focus on their power?" he said, sitting next to Rachel.
-
"Depends on how efficient they are with their powers, their attention span, and temper control.", Lane answered. He was fairly efficient with his fire, extremely efficient with his running, and was uually able to focus, but more than once his temper has caused some side effects. When using fire, it makes him stronger, but while running he slows down and starts to trip.
-
"Hmm... something must be on her mind. I think I am gonna wait for Rachel to wake up before we try to come up with anything drastic." he smiled, and petted Rachel's new fur. It was relaxing. Soothing even.
-
Rachel held her breathe and promised herself she wouldnt scream when her organs and bones moved and changed, sculpting her new form. She hadn't realised she was holding her breathe so long when she finally fell asleep with lightheadedness. When she felt Griffin petting her, she moved her new tail a little and woke up gently. Rachel turned her head upwards where he was sitting beside her, "hey ... guess I did pull through, sorry for the wait" She smiled.
-
Griffin breathed a huge sigh of relief.
"I knew you would make it." he hugged her tightly.
-
Lireal pulled on her newly stolen shirt, clutching her old clothes to her chest... she felt better being in shorts and shirt that werent covered in blood... she walked to the back of the shop, and walked through the backdoor again...
~SMACK~
Lireal blinked twice, getting up from her new position on the shop floor, and groaned as she gingerly touched her muzzle.... correction... she walked straight into the door.... taking it slower this time, she let her breath slow down, and then slid easily through the solid door... once on the other side she threw her old clothes into a bush and set off back towards the cave at a light jog.... she'd picked a set of camo pattern shorts, and a deep blue shirt that stopped at her navel, feeling the cold night air through her fur she smiled for the first time in a while....
~~~~
Lireal entered the cave in the usual way, through the door, not trusting her own skill... after all, her muzzle did hurt quite a lot now... she took two steps into the cave, and then sat softly down, her tail curling up around her....
