Title: The "Tavern on the trail"
Post by: Selket-renguard on January 13, 2010, 08:39:58 PM
As fursons and ferals alike walk through the wooded trails they would happen apon a tavern. The sound of hammer and nails ring through the air. It appears the tavern had just been completed. Except for one detail the young female feline would hammer up a sign outside the door. Apon this sign was the rules of the tavern.

It read: This tavern is built on neautral ground friend and foe alike may come and drink and eat to hearts content. But all weapons are to be surrendered apon entry with no exception. Also anti-magic barrier has been placed around the tavern to prevent hostile magics from damaging the tavern. The only time weapons and magic can be used is outside in the dirt hole known as the PIT. It's 30' wide x 50' long also 20 ft deep you may ask a Terraformer to modify the terrain. (I am the npc Terraformer until someone comes forward want the job.)

Jobs available: bartender, host/ess, waitstaff, cooks, Bouncers, and 1 pit master, also dancers

She smiled as she placed up two more things an open sign and the taverns sign. She opened the door with a smile and went in. Inside there were a number of round and square tables for various size parties to hang out at there was a smoking lounge and an entertainment section were one could find dancers. There was also a set of stairs where people could go for privacy for the night really cheap.

"I declare the Golden Rose Tavern offically open"

(hope I did a good job)

Shinzuu Applaud as he stood near the entrance. Finally, his first day as a bouncer.

Approuched the one near the entrance. Selket gave a smile and held out a paw to him. "Hello there please come in the night draws near and it is rather chill lately." Selket would then motion to the seat near a fireplace. "May I get you something to eat or drink? Oh before I forget I am Selket owner of this establishment."

Asia stepped timidly into the clearing, carrying with him his violin. Looking upon the tavern, he was impressed at such a polished site in the wilderness. He stood admiring it for a moment before noticing the people, lifting his hand and calling out,
"Excuse me!"

Would open the door once more. She looked out into the twighlight sky a moment as she heard the voice call out. She would beckone the furre towards the tavern "greatings sir." She would then spot the violin. "oh are you a musician?" Selket would once more beckone him to the tavern. "All I ask is you follow the rules." Selket says as she taps the sign by the entrance.

"does this look like a weapon?" he joked with a smile, holding up the violin in its case. Reading the sign further, apprehension spread through him. "I know the sign says you're not looking for musicians but, any chance I could be hired?"

Shinzuu did not like that little joke the least bit and watched the "musician" carefully, while maintaining his watch of the other customers.

Wound grin. "Weapons come in all shapes and sizes it's just a safety thing." She listened to his question and nodded. "sure what's a dancer without music to dance to." She smiled and put an arm around his shoulder. Though she was the owner she was actually one of the dancers. She would head to a back room after letting him in. She would come out dressed in a rather lovely looking outfit. She was wearing a harem style dressing that leaved little to the imagination. But kept her decent at the same time. She then spun around causing fabric attached to rings on her shoulders and wrists.

Before Selket returned, Asia shrunk under Shinzuu's stare but as she walked out in her outfit, he completely forgot he was there. He looked at his new boss up and down, before looking to her face.
"Cool," he said straight faced before a soft smile grew on him. "I'll just go tune up."

Smiled and clapped happily. "Tell me when you are ready" she said a she got up on  the dance table.
She would sway her tail behind her as she started to do some streatches to warm up as well.

Continued his watch as he made his way towards the bar. He grabbed a drunk by the collar and motioned for him to pay for their drinks right then and there. After the man paid for his drinks, Shinzuu dragged him out by the back of the collar and threw him out and signaled for the valet to get the man a taxi and went back into the tavern to resume his surveillance.

Asia smirked, "Well I'll give it a try," he said as he began to play a slow, silky tune, pulling the attention of all the customers around.

Though he took his job quite seriously, Shinzuu couldn't help but look over to the violinist. He kept his surveillance as he enjoyed live music for the first time in ages.

Asia looked over to the brute who had just previously stared at him so fiercely, now looking on with the hints of enjoyment. The rabbit gave him a wink as he played more soulfully, submerging deeper into the music.

Shinzuu noticed this and pointed as Asia with a look on his face that said, "Don't push it, smallfry. I can still throw you out through the window." And continued to walk around the tavern, occasionally taking cups away from people having too much to drink and throwing out a drunk or two after he made them pay for their drinks. All the while, having not said a single word to anyone since he was there, just nodding, shaking his head, facial expressions and/or using hand gestures

(sorry fell asleep)

Would listen to the music as she began to dance to it her form sultry and wanting in appearance. She would sway her body like a serpent raising her arms above her head and kneeling down while keeping the swaying motion going. Selket then rose up a little so she may streatch out her left leg and run both paws down it to the ankle and back up her leg over her thigh and up her sides. Her arms the out streatched and she would stand back up. She spun around now as she kept her body in harmony with the music. Her tail swaying as if to an un heard beat.

Shinzuu gave attention to Frost, never really liking people just randomly walking in for a job, not really trusting those kinds of people, but kept his surveillance.

Would turn to the one speaking to her she smiled and then hopped down from the dance table. "That would be me. I'm the owner of this tavern." She looked frost over and put out her paw to shake. "I am Selket." She then sat on the edge of the dance table and pulled a chair over infront of her with her foot. "Please sit."

Kitt walked up to the bouncer at the door, rather than just walking straight in... "hi... the names Kitt, i'm here to apply  for the job in the kitchens" he leant around the bouncer, watching a lapine violinst pour his heart and soul into the live music... "you got quite an atmosphere here... who runs the place?"

Looked at the one that now entered. "don't mind him just doing his job" She smiled and looked apon the lapine a moment and then to frost. "So you are looking to bartend aye?" Selket then beckoned the newcomer. "feel free to browse the place right now I'm interviewing." She then spoke to frost. "May I see what you can do first?" she asked curiously. Are you a standard or show pourer?"

Kitt sat at the bar, looking around the tavern... it seemed nice enough, live music was always a plus.... the staff seemed nice.... he'd wait to see what the kitchen was like first before making any promises or making a decision...

Long island ice tea, comin up , I'm a bit of a show pourer * washing paws , takes a scoop of ice and thows it in the air catching it in the glass , then begins to pour the vodka , gin , and ect. Over the ice, once finished as part of the act begins to hand it to her but then takes it back and wags finger* not yet * tosses a lemon from behind my back , a few swings of a knife and it's cut to slices , stabing one mid air and garnishing cup with it as the rest fall onto a cuting bored, then hands her the drink*

Asia sways with the music, throwing in epic flourishes and the meaty rise and fall ofa slow build in tempo rising and rising to a climax, finsihed with the deepest and richest tones he could muster. All around him a sea of appluase and cheers of adulation... or atleast a few drunken claps and a group of blokes shouting "waaaaaaaaayyyy."

He was happy with any appreciation really, bowing to the drunken rabble.

Shinzuu finished throwing out another riotous drunk and stepped aside for Howl to get in. He followed in after and went back to walking around and maintaining surveillance of the tavern.

He nodded to the bouncer and said, "Thank you, sir." Howl walked up to the bar and sat down, his head hung low and he took off his fedora. He looked up at the bartender. "Excuse me, sir, I would like some Bourbon."

Jumping down off the stage, Asia bounced over to the bar, high on the joys of performance.
"Lovely bit of J2O if you dont mind," he said to the bartender with a flash of his eyes and a smile. He walked over to howl and sat next to him. "You seem a bit down, mate. You alright?"

"Well back home, I live in a little village, and there was this guy who played the violin," Asia said, gesturing wildly as he spoke. "Now I was entranced by it, I wanted to be just like him. And plus I loved being creative anyway... I'm not much good at anything else really, so I took him as inspiration... and ended up next to you!" He put the violin back in its case before putting an arm around the depressed visitor. "Now then, since nothing's bothering you, how about we talk about what you're good at, eh?"

Took a sip of the drink and smiled. "Not bad." She then set it aside and raised her paw to frost. "Welcome aboard." She shook his paw and walked with swaying hips into her private office. There she changed from a dancers uniform to a still rather attractive business atire. It was a simple suit with a V neck specially tailored for her. To show some goods but keep it business like at the same time.

"Interesting story, I have looked up to many as well from their influences." Howl thought for a moment on what Asia had just said. "Well, I used to work for a 5 star restaurant, because I had gone through years and years of cooking, but I left after my wife died, considering the highly stressful atmosphere. Also, I play guitar, but I don't play for anyone else, not anymore...I will leave the music to you."

He sighed, "Well, it just happened 2 months ago, when she died. She and I had been coming home from her friends house, when a mugger took her at gun point. He held her in his arms, screaming 'Give me your money, or she dies!' So, I did the most logical thing, I gave him the money, but when I did, he shot my wife then ran. Days later, I found the man walking down the street, and hit him out of pure rage and began to beat him senseless. When my boss heard about the incident, he told me to quit before he had to fire me. So, now I'm here, a distant and lonely traveler..." Running his hand through his hair he sighed again. "My life has gone downhill ever since, and considering that I sold my house to get away from bad memories, I am in need of shelter and a job, so I thought I would take up one in this tavern. Yet seeing as I'm a fancy cook rather then one who serves for blokes like that..." he pointed to the drunk swinging his knife at another man, "....I don't see how I'm going to fit in."

He gave a laugh, before turning howl to face him. Looking deep into eachothers eyes. Asia examined him for a moment, before smiling wide. "Yup, you'll fit in fine here. Granted I only just got here too, but I can see you'll do great."

Asia watched, confused as Shinzuu wandered back and forth with various notes. He shrugged,
"Sure, I'll play for you. A bright, happy, starry eyed tune, eh? If you get the job, bring your guitar, we could do a little jam." In one swift movement, he hopped off the seat, took the violin case and opened it. Taking a sip from his bourbon from time to time, he watched Asia play his violin, imagining a world based off the music. A soft place of nature, sunshine and happiness, where a village located in between a forest and the sea holds his home, facing the ocean. As sea spray kicks up from every wave, a light and delicate breeze goes through his hair. Then he woke from his day dream, in a daze.

Looked around the tavern from her office with which had a window that was a mirror to those looking at it. She smiled. "Wow just a couple days and business has picked up well." She then got up from her chair and walked out to the dance table wearing a skimpy number. Just a black sports bra and black loin cloth with matching panties. "Okay now where the music maker?" She called out. She listened to the hooting and howling of her drunk patrons. "Remember boys no touching." Selket gave a wink and waited for the music to start.

As the nearly naked women was dancing, Howl looked away, his head facing his bourbon. He didn't take to kindly for such acts when he was just trying to enjoy a drink or two, but didn't judge the women by it. Ever since his wife's death, Howl has always tried to not peak at women, he feels a sense of respect for his deceased wife, and should wait a while before picking up such interests again.

Selket wasn't a stripper. She was just an exotic belly dancer with a sultry set of curves. Her dances were graceful and fluid. After five minutes she dissapeared behind a pair of curtains. She then emerged once again this time in a suit she had noticed the wolf drinking alone. She was kind hearted sometimes to much so. So she approuched him. Compleately opposite looking of before this suit much more professional looking. On the breast was a name tag that read "Owner Selket". She bowed to the male then held out her paw. "I hope you enjoyed the show or atleast your time here."

He looked up. "Oh, sorry, I wasn't judging, I just don't want to impose that I'm like one of wooping drunks over there. You dance very well, and I admire that."

"No worry. I don't feel you were judging." Selket made a motion to a drunk that was getting grabby with  a waitress once he was delt with she turned her attention back to the male. "So this is obviously your first time here. How about Iget us two a round on the house?" Selket motioned to the tender. "Jack and coke for me please on the rocks. Also whatever this gentlemen wants."

After finishing the song selket had danced to, Asia sat back resting against the wall. Eventually he realised how thirsty he was, and decided for another bottle of juice. "More orange, please mate," he said, walkibg near to howl, overhearing the conversation. One he'd figured out the gist, he wrapped his arms around the depressed wolf. "Ah what, still on that subject? Silly puppy," he said.

Ordered said drink for Howl before taking a sip of her own drink. Once his arrived she would then look around abut leaning her back against the bar. "So dear Howl what you up to? As for me you can see I'm plenty busy at times." She raised her glass up to clink them together as if for a celebration. "Do you know anything or anyone that knows how to run a business? Oh hi there Asia."

He smiled and looked up at Asia. "Thank you, Asia." After a drink of his rum, he cleared his throat. "Well, that depends on the type of food I shall be serving, Italian, French, American, British. So many factors come into play when I cook. Yet the one thing that many seem to admire is my sauce that I top on most of my pasta dishes. It takes many ingredients, and a good amount of time, so I usually begin to cook it a couple of hours before a big rush of customers. Also, I'm very good at Roast beef dishes, as well. Funny how the least expensive and most abundant meat can be the best tasting." He took another sip. "Of course, I can wipe up any regular dish no problem, but my sauce and roast beef are my specialty."

"uh... Miss Selket?.... i've been waiting a little while... i was just wondering if i could get a position in the kitchens as an assistant chef?.... i havnt much experience yet but i'm always wanting to learn..."

He waited to see what she would say, still nervously twisting the end of his tail around one finger...

He smiled and put his hand on Kitt's shoulder. "Don't worry, you'll make a fine assistant. "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay!" cheered the rabbit, suped up on orange juice and upbeat tunes. He crashed into the back of the two chefs putting one arm round the shoulder of each. His violin was in one hand, the bow in the other. "Still drinking I see, and who's this pretty boy, eh?" he looked to Kitt, tilting his head from side to side, examining him. "Whoever you are, you look good. Do you play music, you could get a job here, and a violin on it's own can only do so much." A grin exploded on Asia's face before asking for more drink. "I'm gonna have to go face the audience in a moment, so mr pretty kitty... have fun," he said with a point of his finger as his drink arrived. He took it with him and returned to the stage.

"Oi, my head's gonna hurt in the morning if I don't stop. Excuse me, Bartender, I'd like some water, don't want to get a headache." He downed several glasses of water to hydrate himself. He smiled and gave out a laugh, "But seriously, my story ain't that interesting. A good mother tries to get her genius son to be a success, but when it comes to real life, the son can't get anywhere. As he was cleaning up the tables, he listened to Kitt and turned to him. "Well, I've spent most of my life in my studies for my passions, having a masters degree in culinary arts and I went to graduate school as well. As for my guitar, I've played in my free time, building up the skill by researching techniques and what-not. Yet, I've seen people do better than me in cooking who haven't spent half as much time in studying and practicing. It's because they were naturally gifted and wanted it far more then I did. So in some situations, as the one your in, it doesn't take so much skill, but determination."

Kitt brushed his dark hair while Howl was in the shower, then tousseled it up again once he had done so, making the first actions rather pointless... finding his courier bag he made sure he had everything and waited for Howl to be ready, tail flicking ancxiously... "uh... no i dont think so... m' just gonna do my best and try n' learn as much as i can..." he looked down at his watch "we got more than enough time to get to get to work and set up everything..."

"Right, well, I'm going to work early, I've got a lot of special dishes that take a very long time to prepare." With that, Howl picked up all of his required items then walked out the door.

Kitt ran out the door after Howl, catching up a few metres along the sidewalk... "meh, i'm going to work early too... not like i got anything better to do..." walking alongside Howl he rubbed the sleep from his eyes and pulled out his old mp3 player, shuffling through the songs until he found  a nice fast 'pick-me-up' track...

"i was brought up to like Trance and 'clubbing music' by my older sis... and i just stuck with it.... not that i dont like other music, just fast stuff tends to be my fave..." feelings slightly more awake now he turned the corner towards the tavern...

Asia sat in the garden; his back against the house, looking out over the nearby buildings. A book was at his side, the violin next to that.  A cat walked by the cat, looking around as she strolled, noticing Asia and sending a smile his way as she went.

Tunring the corner, head down as he shuffled through his mp3, kitt almost nocked into a feline walking in the other direction, she was too busy looking around as she walked to notice him, and he was too busy finding a good track to notice her... until it was too late and Kitt almost walked into a lampost trying to get out of the way... ~oof~ trying to both get out of the way and not hit the lampost he managed to both suceed, and yet fail at both, mumbling a shy apology....

Asia decided to pull out his violin, and play a little tune, flowing in the apparent serenity in the breeze.

"Ah...well my father has raised me on classic rock, yet the rock won't be a bunch of bollocks about getting women and touring all night, it's mostly about Greek mythology, or an intellectual subject concerning various problems about the world as it is today." When Kitt and the other Feline collided, Howl bent down to help them up. "Are you two alright?!"

Kitt mumbled somthing about not looking where he was going, pulling himself up and burshing the dirt off his shoulder bag... the other feline pulled herself up with Howl's help, also mumbling somthing about not looking where she was going, thankfull for Howl's help "thank ye very much... .and yeah i'm okay... sorry for nockin' into  ya hun..." Kitt shook his head "s'okay... i shoulda been lookin' where i was goin'..."

Howl waved at Selket quickly then ran into the kitchen, laying out all of his items and began to mix spices, boil water, get out important ingredients and sharpen any dull knives. When he was finally ready enough to talk, he looked to Selket. "It's good to see you back. Forgive my tardiness, it was hard getting used to this schedule. Usually I work later." With that said, he flipped a tomato up in the air, pointed the sharp side of his knife up and it sliced in half, landing on the cutting board, then he quickly chopped up more vegetables.

When Kitt walked in, he looked up. "Well, I hope you have a good time on your first day. Since not too many people are coming in, you can start preparing foods. Make your best European recipe and let me taste test it, I want to see your cooking at it's finest."

Kitt nodded "uhm... yeah, h'okay.... " with that he set about finding the ingrediants and equipment for Slovakian Gúlaš and Knédlé... taking out a cut of pork he sliced the meat expertly in a quick crosshatching method before cutting it into large slices, removing the fat from the meat and dropping it into a now sizzling pan with spicy red onions, a dash of red wine and seasoning... once the sauce was hot enough he dropped in the pork, turning down the heat and leaving it to stew slowly while he got on with the Knédlé or dumplings...

"Hehe, good! I love cooking to music!" Said Howl, while he took olive oil and poured it all over his saucepan, throwing some cut up onions, mushrooms and garlic into the pan to saute them. Once they were cooked long enough, he added three Spicy Italian sausages, throwing in chopped bay leaves and a bit of diced basil. With the sausage done cooking, he put one on a plate next to the sauteed vegetables, Howl topped it with his specialty sauce he was making on the stove next to him. "Selket, would you like some sausage, it's fairly simple; something I cooked up at home."

Kitt poured out the pork and deep red spiced sauce onto a deep plate, slicing the large knedle dumpling into large slices he placed them beside this and poured sauce onto them as well, seasoning the dush with Paprika he brought the dish over to Howl... tail swishing anxciously he looked from Howl to the dish... "uh... its Gúlaš and Knédlé, a Slovakian and Polish recipe.... aparantly the main problem with my cooking is it lacks finesse, its hearty and filling but... well.. yeah.." he petered off, scuffing his shoe against the kitchen floor...

Howl set down his sausage and cut the meat, about to take a bite. "Bah! If it tastes good, then our customers will like it, and so will I." He took a bite of the meat, and he smiled. "It's brilliant! My god, we've got to put this on the menu! This will appeal to the customers so well. You've done a fine job, Kitt."

Kitt nodded, starting to prepare some Halušky, he slid the Gúlaš dish into an oven at the lowest heat possible to keep it warm while he worked, preparing the dumplings for the Halušky as well as the Brynd'za cheese sauce and bacon šcvarky... he worked quickly and efficiently with only pauses every now and then to find equipment in the unformilair kitchen... he listened to Asia play through in the main room of the tavern, one of the reasons why he enjoyed working in kitchens was you often got free music thrown in for boot... humming along to Asias music he checked on the sauce...

While all his food was finally cooking and only required supervision at this point, Howl wiped some sweat from his brow and looked up at Kitt for a moment. "Do you think we'll make this tavern more popular? Like, some might actually come for the food, rather then get drunk to the point of death?"
