Hey there everyone.
I’m Berty, new to this forum (Whoda guessed lol :) ).
I’m not sure where to start with this intro so I’ll explain some of my history.
I’ve been a frequent member of a small forum for about 2 years now. It’s got about 15 active members so everyone’s friends with everyone else and the Mods are really lax in regards to off-topicness, so I formally apologise in advance if I do stray (It’s been ages since I was on a large forum). It’s a small forum for a Flash Games company so it’s not furry orientated at all.
I’ve read all the rules and regulations, the niceties and manners. I’m never one for being disruptive or insensitive (quite the opposite actually), I know when it’s a joke and when it’s gone (going) too far so I’ll not be one you can expect insults from. If I do insult someone it’s entirely by accident and I will always apologise.
I normally lurk a forum for a good while before I decide to join, but in this case I read some of the topics and saw how friendly everyone is and thought that this is a lovely forum to join.
Here’s my predicament;
I’ve been a lurker in the furry community for about 3 years now… and never told anyone, online or in RL, about my interest in the fandom. I stumbled upon it (If I get the time I’ll post the story in the appropriate thread) on my own and haven’t told anyone. And this is driving me insane…
I found this site from Google (don’t have IMVU) and I’ve seen how much more fun it can be as a furry in a comunity, so if no one minds, I want in. This’ll be my first time talking to some other furries.
I’m not tremendously arty (Can’t draw people or furs for peanuts) but I can draw objects, scenery etc in a cartoony way. I prefer animating and coding with Flash.
With my current living scenario I can’t express my interest in the fandom freely and must keep it hidden, thus I haven’t given thought to a fursona or anything (hence my ODST Avatar). But I want to.
So that’s me. Sorry for the length but you can’t really sum up yourself in a few sentences…

I can relate to your story actually. I was a lurker for about 6 months before I officially considered myself a furry. Just give it time and everything will take its place :3

I hope it will. I've been in the dark too long and it's getting to me. Hopefully I'll fit in here though. :)

The main thing is to just be yourself. Pick something that fits you, and if all else fails you can change. I know people who change fursonas at least 3 or 4 times a month, so it's no big deal really. Have fun!

Yeh, you're definitely right about that. But I don't have the environment to go about drawing ideas and stuff. I physically can't do anything furry related (draw, design, animate etc) without someone around me noticing and questioning me... which I wanna leave 'til later on in life.

And me? Well... it's been snowing quite a bit, it's about -4 degrease Celsius and our central heating doesn't work :P So it's been a cold and slow day for me. But I shouldn't complain. Nothing interesting and nothing bad has happened, pretty normal so I'm doing fine, but thanks for asking.

To help you out, there are those who put themselves as "human" or "non-animal" on here, albeit they are outnumbered. You don't have to be "fur" or "scale" to be part of this community, just have to be accepting of those who do consider themselves as such.

I know. I don't feel alone, I've had a very warm welcome to the forum, and for that I thank you all. But it's not the category I would have liked to be in...
As I said though, once time permits I will have my own character and I will go to a convention and I will have a really, really good time ^_^
