[removed] is one of my favourite songs of all time, I tried to avoid typing that but saw no way around it sooo I put it in quotation marks. ¬_¬

"Faggot" is one of my favourite songs of all time, I tried to avoid typing that but saw no way around it sooo I put it in quotation marks. ¬_¬

I'm sure song names don't matter, for example if I was to say [removed] by Rammstein is one o my favourite songs at the mo', there probably wouldn't be a problem.

If its dirty or offensive don't state it, simple as that.

Song titles are not exemptions from the rules

May I remind you all that this forum has always had a PG-13 rating restriction. Anyone who listens to Mindless Self Indulgence would know that their songs are clearly NOT within those limits. Being in a song doesn't make the material any more appropriate to be posted here.

I'd also like to mention that if there is ever a question about what's allowed and what isn't, you can easily find out by asking one of our staff members. That's what they're here for. It's far better to have permission from a moderator to post something instead of saying "this is probably okay".

This thread is fine as long as you can stay within the PG-13 limit. As Tezztor said - if it's offensive, just don't post it.

IMO? No-one on here is going to be offended by the word used to describe a bundle of sticks but has more recently come into it's own as a slur for a homosexual. I'm queer, and I'm fine with the word. It can be offensive IN context, but not out of it. Song names should be fine, cotton-wooling the forum isn't going to make this a fun place to be.

Anyway, MSI - anyone been to any of their gigs? They were playing in London earlier this year, but I missed out.

The rules are constantly reviewed and are here to ensure no-one is offended, upset or otherwise. We have a mixtures of ages, races, religions, etc here. One word may not be offensive to one person but it may to another, the forums are run to be as accommodating to everyone as possible. There is never a need to use language that could be deemed offensive and that is the main reason for it being restricted within the forums.

As for "cotton-wooling" the forum, we don't. If we did, we'd be a lot tougher than we are, given the number of members we have it's quite obvious people are happy with how it is run and we have a suggestions board for exactly the reason it suggests. The forums are run by the community, all staff members were community members long before they became staff.

It's quite clearly impossible to be accommodating to everyone, seeing as I'm being insulted by having my posts and profile edited by a wish to try and keep these so-called incredibly weak, worrisome masses of forumers from feeling the slightest twinge of unease.

Yes there is, we're discussing a band we like, and we can't discuss it unless we can use these words. It's very safe to say that anyone who is insulted in this context well and truly deserves it for being too bleeding sensitive. Another reason is comic effect - yet another is to provide emphasis.

Hold on, this makes no sense. I'm pointing out the softly-softly approach towards the members, i.e. the way all swearing is prohibited (you find ONE SANE PERSON on this forum to whom 'hell' and 'ass' are offensive to and I'll eat my hat) and the way posts are edited with no warning. At least give me an example of someone who will be offended before doing so. And you or other mods don't count, seeing as you are offended ON BEHALF of the minorities I have yet to see.

And apparently they lose their sense of humour when this change occurs.

WELL ANYWAY back to MSI...

This thread has outlived its usefulness. If you have a problem with the moderation of this board take it up with a administrator in private messages. The rules stand as is and I kindly remind you that this board is a privelege not a right. For the equal enjoyment of all we retain these rules and just because a particular thing does not offend you does not mean it does not offend others.
