Title: Limited Oxygen Remaining
Post by: Nova Starpaws on January 19, 2019, 09:39:24 AM
This is an rp being done with me and Hunter568. We might add other people.

Jax was rapidly blinking, trying to clear the cyrodust out of his eyes. He felt around for the release on the cyropod when he heard a slightly feminine voice say [Do not pull the release lever. Attempting to pressurize area] Nova felt around the pod, and noticed that it was suprisingly large and had a Universal Space Suit. He quickly put it on and prepared to exit the cyropod.

Hunter rose slowly, a throbbing pain in his head. He felt a large, raised bump on the back of his head. Likely he'd been hit with some kind of falling debris. Choking on dust, he tried to recall what had happened. Flashing warning lights and alarms blared all around him, making it hard to think.

He found one of the ship's space suits inside his pod and quickly put it on. Clearly, something had gone wrong with the ship. He decided he should head outside to assess the damage. He stepped to the pod's airlock doors and prepared to open them.

[Incoming asteroid detected] said the ship wide speakers. [Attempting Evasive Maneuvers]
Jax opened the pod door, revealing empty space. He used the jet thrusters to turn around. "Good luck with that Orion. You're in about sixteen hundred pieces." Jax started to transverse the area, looking for another cyropod, when he spotted one that had the Cryopod Occupied symbol lit up, and headed towards it.

Hunter hit the button to open and equalize the airlock, then stepped in. Finally, the pod's outer doors were opened and he stepped out into the dark void of open space, moving with the aid of the jetpack thrusters. To his horror, the Orion looked to be completely shredded. It seemed almost completely unsalvageable.

He looked around for other signs of life, and noticed a figure jetting towards him. He held his hand up and waved. "Thank god I'm not alone here," he sighed to himself with relief.

(This can be used for ooc: (blahblahblah) because I didn't bother to make ooc)

Jax saw the figure, confused at who the were. He then looked at the Orion, the Supermassive vessel that carried them lightyears and sighed. He attempted to open comms with the figure. "Hello? Are the comms working?"

The comms in Hunter's suit crackled to life, and a voice that he assumed was coming from the figure in front of him spoke.

"Yeah! They're working," he responded happily, grateful that they had a way to talk to eachother.. "God, what happened to the ship while I was out? She looks like a real mess," he inquired.

"I don't know. I just got out of Cyro too. Looks like we're in an asteroid field." He turned on his suits scanner and found high traces of uranium, iron, gold, and nickel. "Plenty of resources nearby. *mumbles* Most of it from the ship" He turned to a control panel and went to see if any systems were operational.

Hunter looked around them at the asteroid belt. Maybe they'd be able to use some of the resources in them to help fix the ship?

He looked back at the Orion dubiously. It'd be a miracle of they got it running again. "Is there any way we can send a distress beacon out? Maybe that part of the ship still works," he said hopefully.

The control panel started to spark, and they heard the distant grinding of metal. "Uhm. Is that the hangar bay door?" he hurried to find out if that was true. There are valuable ships in there. "Yes!!! It is the hangar door. And camera visuals say it's in one piece. It can be pressurized. None of the ships in this hangar are fitted for vacuum use, but we can retrofit them with thrusters."

Hunter felt a spark of hope at that thought. Maybe they had a good chance of getting out of here after all. "Where do we get the thrusters? Could we salvage some from the Orion itself?" he asked.

"I don't think we want to pull on the throttle, and get killed by hitting 12 thousang g's in half a second. The Orion thrusters are too large, and the vehicles we could put the Orion thrusters on are destroyed."  He floated through the hangar door and saw three Zephr style Mining Vessels, and a multi purpose platform rover. "The rover we can dismantle. Once we get their engines switched to hydrogen, the Zephr's can mine by themselves. Much of the Orion is automated."

"Alright, that's a start. We float them over to some of these asteroids and let them mine away for us," Hunter said. He walked over to the platform rover. "I guess we get started on stripping this for parts," he said, searching for a tool bin somewhere in the hangar.

Jax thought about the floating them over idea. "They aren't optimized for space use, but we could use the Orion's Precision Grav Gen to maneuver the miners." He looked at Hunter searching for a toolbin. Got his attention and pointed toward the (de)construction mech. Than got to work finding the datachip for the hydrogen thruster blue prints.

Hunter stepped into the mech and powered it on. "Alright, sounds like a plan," he said, steering the mech over to the platform rover and getting to work. The mech quickly dissassembled the small rover and laid the salvaged parts out neatly on the floor for future use.

Hunter powered down the mech and stepped back out into the hangar. He looked around for Jax.

(We need to talk about scale of objects sometime)

"Ello. I got the thruster plans." *looks at little robot he dismantled to get the datachip and kicks it under a table* "Effortless." He went to the hangar door control and closed the doors. (I just realized, we shouldn't of been able to hear the hangar door. No air = no sound waves)

(Okay, you can tell me if I mess something up. As for the no sound thing, oh well. It's a small inaccuracy)

"Alright, great. I laid out everything salvageable from the rover. We should be able to retrofit the Zephyrs now, right?" Hunter asked.

(Well, you obviously know it. You just forgot about it for a sec.)

Hunter looked up as if he could find the source of the mechanical voice. "I guess it's to be expected when the ship is in so many pieces," he said grimly. At least it suggested that there was still some life left in the massive ship.

(lol, not opposed to that)

"Maybe it could turn up something useful?" Hunter said doubtfully. "I suppose it can't hurt, at least."

He moved over to the mech as well. "Do you need me to get anything else for those plans, or do you have everything you need here?" he asked.

[Error Located-] "You don't say?" [-We are currently 12 thousand lightyears off course] Jax just stared at the hull of the ship. "Well, now we know how far away help is. Guess it is useful. Too bad. I thought the hull was destoyed in a million parts. Doesn't that make life easier, huh Hunter?" He walked over to the Zephr and marked the locations for the thrusters.

Hunter groaned. They were worse off than he'd thought.

"12 thousand lightyears away from the normal route. What the hell happened while we were in cryo?" he asked incredulously. "I guess we're really on our own out here."

"We aren't alone. We have a glitched supercarrier A.I." Jax said, cackling to himself. He felt the air pressurizing systems turned on. He opened his visor, breathing in the air. "I just realized. The hangar has construction arms. I can use that to get the thrusters on." [Planet Found. Searching databases]

"Wait, did you hear that? It said it found a nearby planet," Hunter said, listening for the AI's voice. If it wasn't just spewing glitched nonsense, that could be an important development. They might have a planet they could conceivably get down to.

"Of course it did. We're orbiting it." Jax turned on the construction arms and got the thrusters built up.

"I didn't realize we'd moved into orbit. I thought we were stranded in an asteroid belt," Hunter said, glad to hear the development.

He moved out of the way of the construction arms, leaving them clear space to move the thrusters onto the Zephyrs.

"We were. We took the asteroid belt with us. You know. Supermassive ship and all. We can eclipse the sun." The arms finished and he opened the hangar door, deploying the Zephr.

Hunter shuddered slightly. "We've gotta be careful. If any of the debris falls to the surface, it's big enough to cause some serious craters."

(Like an ember in the wood, a phoenix in the flames, I am reborn. Until 3:00)

"Yeah, craters. At least everything seems to be in a stable orbit. We've got that working for us." [Port thruster has exited the orbiting speed] "Why do I say anything?"
Title: Re: Limited Oxygen Remaining

Hunter looked around anxiously. "Assuming that's not just a malfunction of the system, we should find a secure spot and brace ourselves for impact," he warned.

Just as he finished speaking, the voice came back. [Starboard thruster has exited orbital speed.] The entire ship shuddered around them.

(The thruster is detached Hunter. We're in a million pieces.)

"I'll see if I can get the thruster to fire." He went to the control panel and started messing with the system, trying to get the thruster to fire it's engine. Bringing it back to orbit speed. The thruster fired but in the wrong direction, causing it to fly towards the planet faster.

(Well I know we're in pieces, but I thought you implied in your last post that we were still maintaining a stable orbit using the thrusters. I guess I misread it.)

"Well, the situation is getting a little messy. We could exit orbital speed too at any moment," Hunter said as the ship gave another shudder. He wasn't sure whether it was due to an unstable orbit or debris from the asteroid field. "And it doesn't look like the ship's computer system is going to be much help."

(Leaking fuel and inertia dampeners slowed the thrusters down. Most of the ship doesn't have inertia dampeners. Only the thrusters because they have the most strain)

"I wouldn't worry. A ship of this size has the ability to stay in orbit using the gravity generators, and there should be more A.I. If I can find them." He said, watching the thruster fall toward the planet. "Goodbye northern hemisphere."

Hunter gritted his teeth. "Yikes. I hope there aren't any sentient races living on that planet..." he said grimly. He walked back over to the Zephyr ships and started attempting to start them up, now that they had been retrofitted to work out in the asteroid field. Hopefully their modifications would work enough for them to function in a vacuum long enough to salvage some useful materials. "The sooner we get out of here, the better," he said.

In the current state of ship disrepair, it is advisable to use resources from the planet to repair the Orion.] "Did the Orion say C.E 4821? It was only 3057 when we got on the Orion." He turned to Hunter. "The Zephr has to be completely recoded. Good thing is we don't have to do it ourselves. We can put a vacuum control chip in it and it can operate."

"Man, that's so surreal. We've been out for over 1000 years..." Hunter replied. "I know that's what we signed up for, but it's still hard to absorb."

He looked over to the Zephr. "Where can we find a vacuum control chip for it?" he asked.

Hunter sat on the floor in defeat. "What are we going to do? The fleet we left with will all be long gone now. So is everyone we ever knew..." he trailed off. The wolf wore a haunted look on his face. "Nobody's coming to help us," he said as the grim realization dawned on him.

"Orion, devote all unneeded power to intercept transmissions." [All unneeded power rerouted] He then watched the thruster get close to the planet,  when a flash of light appeared, shot through the thruster, obliterating it, nearly hitting the rest of the Orion. "I take that back. I quess the Northern Hemisphere is safe for now."

Hunter dashed over to the viewport, gazing out into space where the loose thruster had been. "Woah, what was that? Could there be some civilization down there after all?" he asked excitedly. "Maybe the computer's information was wrong, and the colony down there isn't actually abandoned. We could be in the clear here!"

The prospect of someone living who could rescue them from their stranding restored a little hope for Hunter.

"A Dyson Sphere?! With something that sophisticated installed in this system, there must be someone down there! At least to maintain it..." Hunter said hopefully. "It's possible the original colony was abandoned, and that's what the computer meant. See if you can get it to try to make contact, maybe intercept a radio frequency or something," he asked. He was holding out hope they'd find somebody who could help them.
