Here's my little space to post art and other odds and ends that aren't drawings/sketches. These can include plushies, sculpture, ceramics, accessories, and any other miscellaneous crafts I feel like making. I'll probably mainly post things related to animals/anthros on here, of course.
I can be lazy though, so hopefully I can get by butt into gear and post stuff regularly! And I'll try to include WIPs when I can.
Feel free to comment on things, and I'm definitely open to any advice/critique/even criticism you may have. And also just questions in general ^^

Here's a project I've been working on in ceramics since late January-ish. I've decided to call him "Le chevalier des chats" (The knight of cats), or Louie for short. I just really wanted to create a dapper cat in a 1700s French military uniform....
Here's the reference sketch I drew to begin with-

Head in progress-

Head mounted on torso, plus beginnings of a paw-

Finished with sculpting and waiting to be bisque/first time fired-

Now I've glazed him and he's been fired a second time. His sword broke in half so I just need to glue it back together again and he'll finally be finished ^^ More pics to come.
-
That is really well done Amethyst. I hope it turns out well in the end.
-
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM, GUURRL
-
Nice, I use to do other art but just stopped, gotten to busy but time to time I do sculpting, sew, ect. I should get back into it again since it was really fun to do. Anyways this looks amazing! I love it.
-
Love it! Especially the design choice.
I've Always wanted to do something like this.
-
Thank you guys for the nice comments ^^ I've been doing so much 3D art, I need to get back into drawing more sometime too XD But here's some finished pics of Louie(except the sword tip, which has since been reattached):

I painted/glazed him to be a gray and white tabby like my own cat, but the gray turned out slightly brownish. I don't mind at all though; the colors can sometimes be a little unpredictable.

Here's a plushie I've been working on recently. I wanted to create a ram/sheep thing with a fantasy-ish twist. I'm considering calling the species "drams" or something.
Design sketch-

Prototype #4-

There's still a bunch of little things to finalize. The eyes will be different and the nose will be embroidered. I'm thinking of making the horns and hooves out of clay(each dram has differently shaped horns) and painted. As for the fleece, I was wanting to use colorful minky/plush fur and embroider a swirl/spiral design throughout it.
-
Another ceramics project, coming up! Ram horns are cool, and so are skulls. And celtic/mystical symbols. Mix them together and you got something I'm tentatively titling "Black Sheep".
Early sculpting

Main skull finished, figuring out how the heck to make the horns

Alas, poor Yor-ram... Also, teefs

Details on horns and triskele/symbols

The skull is currently glazed and being fired a second time. Fingers crossed the colors turn out how I want them....
Also, preview for something I started a little while ago:

Holy Sh*t! That Skull, with celtic markings too. I think I love you :*

Thank you XD I can't wait until it's finished :>
As for the horse head from the last post. If you know some Norse mythology, he's got 8 legs ;)

That'll be Odins horse, Sleipnir! looking forward to seeing that.
-
Yup, and he's turning out pretty big ^^'
Posting some random medallions/pendants I made, including some with Norse runes. They're really quick(except that bird one X3) and fun to make so I might do a whole batch if I have leftover clay near the end of the semester.

-
Love the raven one. The cat is cuuute! ^_^
-
The skull is finished :3 The colors turned out almost exactly how I wanted them so that's really cool. Except the green, which turned out darker than I planned. Oh well I guess ^^
(http://i.imgur.com/e2odCmQ.jpg)
More on Sleipnir-
(http://i.imgur.com/JeV5xuS.jpg)
Now has all 8 legs, and working on smoothing him out
(http://i.imgur.com/6AGmJ4q.jpg)
Those legs, I swear...They keep wanting to break off, especially at the ankles.
-
These look really good, Amethyst! :D
-
Sleipnir can finally stand ^_^
(http://i.imgur.com/np3tX5e.jpg)
I'm painting him with black slip(liquid clay) and carving out some spirals and other details. After the first firing I'll fill them in with some dark purple and then clear glaze all of him.
-
Oh, wow! I love this, Sleipnir looks awesome. I love the spiral pattern so much :)
Thanks; I'm basing it off some celtic designs I've seen of horses. It's one of my favorite parts so far I think. I love him but it's been a month already so I want to finish him soon XD
-
Looks like Ganon's horse to me, but beside that it looks really good
-
Sleipnir's ready for the first firing-
(http://i.imgur.com/fnWykWz.jpg)
I've been working on a two-part project recently, but they're hoomins, not animals(for the most part) sorry XD They're inspired by Oberon and Titania, the fairie king and queen from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
There's some quirks in the faces, but I'm really happy with how they're turning out :p (I made a bust last semester and comparing that to these I can tell I'm improving a bit)
-
They all look very pretty!
-
Very impressive work so far, wow, can't believe I missed checking out this thread. I really find it refreshing your art style and your medium.
I'm especially impressed with Sleipnir. So many 'appendices'. I've read about how things went, and it doesn't surprise me how frustrating it must have been with those legs wanting to break every time.
Glad it seemed to have turned out well in the end :3

Thank you X3 Most people post drawings on here so sculptures are a little different I guess ^^
Ceramics is kind of a test in patience, especially since I find myself doing little, time consuming details(or legs...) but if it works in the end it's worth it XD
-
You're welcome ;D
And it is definitely worth it, indeed! :D
-
The semester is wrapping up in a few weeks, which means I can't do any more ceramics until the fall semester. Oh well, that just means I can post more plushies and stuff in the meantime XD
Anyway, I'm making a fluffy kitty figurine for my boyfriend since he likes cats a lot. I feel like his ears are just a /bit/ big though.
And I've been working on a collaboration with a girl who's in my class. We both like sculpting animals and some fantasy stuff(though hers are a little darker) so it's been going well. Also, I learned she's into the furry fandom too XD I did the face, collar, and some feathers while she did the body and most of the feathers. We're thinking of naming it Sakhmet after the Egyptian lion deity.
-
Nice! Very cool!
-
The kitty is done :3 I've decided I really, really like making figurines. They're also much faster to make ^^'
Painting stripes on cats is a pain in the butt, but it looks pretty realistic in the end so I'm not complaining.
-
Quite the pretty kitty!
-
So...an update on the Lion collaboration. It was put into the kiln this weekend but...it exploded.
lol
(http://i.imgur.com/Il7R1ho.jpg)
We're not super upset by it, but it's kind of a shame. These things happen? It was probably fired too early, when it still has some moisture inside of the clay. A least it was fired on its own or else it would have taken other stuff with it.
-
Hey Amethyst, how's the art going? Lots of nice progress up in here.

Hey, thanks. I haven't seen you in awhile.
I've been working on some more stuff since summer started for me but I've been a bit slow on account of feeling kind of blah recently :p

Yeah, I've been doing a little better so far. I have a few different projects I'm working on right now so hopefully I can post some progress pics when I can.

Here's some tidbits of things I've been working on lately-
Some pieces for a cube-shaped dragon plushie (there's also green and red ones)
Scaling a green dragon. It takes awhile...
Design for an elk I want to embroider on a tunic I'm making
(http://i.imgur.com/eKeMsg7.jpg)
And not really an animal, but a head for a doll I'm working on (you can see her legs in the green dragon pic)
-
That cubic dragon owo sooo cute :o
And I can't believe that you're scaling that green dragon, the scales look pretty cool.
Also, great eyes you made there!
-
Holy cow, the detail on that scaled dragon is coming along nicely! Be sure to share a picture when you completed it? :3

Of course ^^ He's done and waiting on wings/eyes/horns and stuff. I'm also working on two others atm as well.
-
I just found this thread and I'm really digging your work, Amethyst. Like you said, most art online is drawings and paintings, so it's cool to see some sculpture.
-
Noice! :D
-
I'll have an army of dragons on my hands soon...
Here's some rough design sketches for a different dragon doll thing I wanna do
(http://i.imgur.com/gwbwssy.jpg)
It's a little ambitious, but I want to a make a fully articulate/poseable(including moving jaw and grasping talons) dragon plush that's also more detailed. Things like a thick wire skeleton, sculpted and painted head, fully scaled, the works. It'll probably take awhile and a few tries but it will be worth it I'm sure.
Also bonus: Here's my pincushion XD
(http://i.imgur.com/n2PqP6o.jpg)
-
That army of dragons looks pretty darn amazing!
You happen to be selling them or making them on commission? xD
And your pin cushion looks adorable x3
-
Amethyst, would you be willing to do up a plush for me, and in return I'll make you a 100x100 monster hunter pixel icon?
I'll let you judge how many you'd want to be worth the amount it would be for one of these plushies.

Thank you ^^ I'm trying to get my etsy shop up sometime this summer; it's probably going to be called Purple Dragons Studio or some such thing X3

I don't mind that, depends on what you want a plush of :3 I do mostly my own designs but it would be neat to do something for someone else. And the cost in return can be worked out.
-
Hm, what would be the estimated cost for one of those recent dragons and one that would be a little desktop dragon/paperweight.
Individually that is, not both, just one
And if you haven't started on that wire dragon yet, then I'd like to volunteer my dragon for it.

The wire dragon will probably take little awhile to even finish a prototype so probably not that one ^^
The recent dragons like in the group picture would probably sell for $50 but I have a few early ones (similar but just prototypes) I could sell for $20 or so if you want a premade one.
Another option is that I've recently gotten some tools and clay to make miniature sculptures and I've been wanting to make a dragon. I could make one for you instead of a plushie if you'd like.
-
Sure, I'll take a sculpture instead, but now for my end of the deal.
For me to make the thing I proposed, I'll need 2 things:
1. A reference sheet of your character
2. A monster from the major Capcom game Monster hunter
Here's a link to the monster list---> http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Monster_List (http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Monster_List)

Sounds good!

I made a bandana/scarf for team Valor for when I play Pokemon Go with my friends. I realize that I really like embroidering XD It's like painting but with thread... I'm not super happy with the hem/trim since it was kind of short notice but it's fine.
I'm making a team Mystic one for a friend as an art trade. She's making me a leather wrist cuff in return.
-
Looks great. I like the gradation of color.
-
there are so many cool stuff here! i swear you could sell these bandanas.
-
Alright guys, I'm back in the ceramics studio again. I'll be posting more stuff in here by the by. Also other projects I'm working on too, of course.
First here's what I'm starting now. Hint: I love Norse mythology, and woofs are cool. He looks a little doofy but I'm just building the base atm. And I want him to be BIG.
Also I've been working on making a chainmail shirt. This is one month's progress (~20% done). It's tedious, but I'm really liking it. I'm thinking about trying jewelry or dice bags sometime too...
