What do you use to create art?
« on: August 13, 2017, 05:40:48 PM »
What do you use to create art? Simple question

and if you use a graphic tablet, what kind do you use?  Pen display or just normal pen tablet?

I use a normal pen tablet, a small older version of the wacom intous  but I realized how much I want a pen display after looking at them. My brain isn't handling the disconnect very well between screen and hand with pen tablet so pen display would help me so much, but so expensive though I understand why they are.   @.@     I also use pencil  and paper from time to time of course

Everything comes from nothing
Everything is something
So just let it all keep happening

Don't be a means to someone's end
It's all just beginning why can't we extend
An invitation to every hand

All hands can clap
All hearts are beating equally
The pulls of the air we're breathing

If we can believe in one part of it
Then we can believe in all of it
So don't stop
Don't stop the party

I use traditional methods. Pencil for sketch, pen for lines. I'm experimenting with colored pencils but I'm having a hard time getting the effects I want.

I don't really have a need for a graphics tablet, they cost too much, and I feel like they would be much more difficult to use.

I used to only draw on paper, then I started to draw (by mouse) and/or colour my traditional drawings in digitally. Boy that was hard, drawing with a mouse XD
Anyways, I decided to look into a drawing tablet. I heard of Wacom at some conventions I went to and decided to look into it.

Sure, I would probably not be good, let alone great, at drawing on a tablet at first. Especially since I didn't grow up with it, but drew traditionally all my life.
But I decided to go with one I knew I'd be happy with and one I could also use just as a monitor by itself So it functions for me as both as a drawing tablet and as a monitor.

It takes some getting used to, but since you know how to draw on paper, you'll soon get adjusted to drawing on a tablet. Don't be scared off if it doesn't look like much in the beginning. I and other people had that and look what improvements others and I have made ;)

It depends what you want from a tablet. I went for a pen display, as I have tried using a normal pen tablet, but I just never can get used to that. Yep, I draw on paper and thus also see directly from my hand the result what I draw, so I'd like that digitally as well.
Just took me a while to save up, but I did it .3. Worth it.

Now I'm looking into a smaller one I can carry with me so I can draw as I am on the go, as I often have to go from place to place.
Wacom brought out a new pen display (Wacom Modern or something?) one of 13 inch and one of 16 inch. However, they both use Windows 10. They seem to be downgradable, though, so that's good.
What I am looking into, though, is their older versions. The Wacom Companion series. Particularly Companion 2, the second series of the Companion. Found out pretty early on after I got my first (and only) Wacom tablet that quite a couple of artists I watch actually got the Companion (2). Since they are very happy with it, I'd feel more safe going for that option too.

My hands... and eyes...

Welp I start off with a physical sketch ussing a sketchbook and a 4H pencil, then jump up to like a B, then maybe a 4B - 6B. Then I take a picture of it with my phone, upload to Google Drive, Take that image from google drive and then paint on it with my Cintiq using Clipstudio.

Just a regular pencil and paper. Sometimes, I then trace it on my computer and makes it all fancy, but not all the time.

Hm. Just traditional methods. Sometimes I'll scan my paper and alter it a bit with a computer program, but for the most part, all of my drawings on just plain ole' pencil and paper.

I suck at art, but it's something I always wanted to get better at. I use Zbrush and a Wacom Intuos Pro medium tablet. When I first started it was rough. I kept clicking the side buttons by accident or I had trouble finding them. It only took a few days to get the hang of it and it just gets progressively better. My icon is something I did in Zbrush.

I mainly use pencils and paper, but I can work with Paint.net with a mouse on my laptop for small pixel-detailed work if I want to.

Thanks, it's a fairly simplistic design and I referenced a picture from a google search. I'm still trying to learn anatomy so I can create my own. I've learned a good amount, but I have a long way to go (head and body design, biped and quadruped).
