Quick little topic to start out on these forums.
I propose a question:
-What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten and actually liked?
This could include random creations, food from other cultures, and/or culinary disasters!
I'll go first...
About a year ago, I was studying the food of Eastern Asia and I came across two things:
Century eggs (boiled egg allowed to sit and "rot" for years and years) if you haven't experienced this diabolical delecasy, consider yourself lucky.
And something called Balut. It's basically a fertilized bird (primarily mallard) egg that is boiled. Balut is odd because not only is it boiled but you don't take its shell completely off. So not only do you get that mess to eat, you also get a little crunch when you crack the top of the shell open.
I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to try it during my studies.
To go quickly, the top of the egg was cracked open, revealing you-know-what, and then sprinkled salt and vinegar over. I picked some out and it tasted, well, odd. The mallard inside tasted like chicken oddly enough but the consistency mixed super well with the natural juices and salt/vinegar.
Your turn!
