Curious about otherkin ideas
« on: September 26, 2015, 03:28:52 AM »
Please do correct me if I'm getting something wrong or using incorrect terms perhaps, but how do otherkin realize what their true self is?
I can understand the ideas in a spiritual or mental level, and while I'm not saying I AM otherkin I'm curious to how I'd find out if I am and if that's the case then what my true self is.
I see stuff about dreams and phantom...well, not always limbs, but parts, so it kind of made me think about how consistent my dreams are.
I specifically say otherkin for now because I'm leaving it open to the idea that it may not be a creature that exists in our world.
...
Again, I hope I'm using these terms correctly...
Anyways, what ways do you look at your dreams to interpret your true self?
And what other methods would you use?

I don't remember how it came to me. Some things happened in dreams, some things while I was just busy doing something. One thing I can tell you, though, is that if realization happens in any form, you'll know.

This forum: https://www.kinmunity.com/ can give you all of the information you need and more, whether through their articles, blogs or user posts.

As someone who has been a part of the Otherkin community for around eleven years and possibly longer, the information they have there as well as the user base is a fantastic resource. There are varying accounts that can answer your question as well, seeing as everyone is not necessarily the same or goes through similar processes.

If you do sign up (since I think you have to in order to view the forum), note that using ymail or yahoo appears to bug it out, making it say 'Flash isn't active' or some other variant, so g-mail or a mail . com account are recommended. Of course, it may have only been that way due to the browser I was using at the time (WhiteHat Aviator)

I shall now ask a dream related question!
Because, I have NO idea how to research this, so perhaps this can lead me in the right direction?

Is there a creature in some sort of lore that-

1.  Can't die.
2.  Can't feel pain (can spasm from nerve issues when wounded but that's about it)
3.  Can fly by flapping some weak wings, but not very far at all before having to get back to the ground.
4.  Full of confidence!

Edit:  Thanks for that link!

Im a History nerd and i think i have found some things that may relate to your question
-Cthulu- Yes i know rather weird one but he is immortal, does have a weak wingspan, Taking over the world needs confidence but i do believe he feels pain, He is originated in a book but has become very popular due to video game culture.
-Wyvern- Short wings, i believe is immortal if not lives very long, He can feel pain and not sure about confidence, originated in medieval myths.
To be honest there arent really many creatures which match this description but it may be an orignal your dreaming see if next time you dream you can write down right after what it looked like so you may be able to draw of describe it
Hope i helped-Vale

I started to think about it a bit more beyond dreams and I have more clues on this idea, whether it be otherkin or not.
Aaaand I have a story now!
When I was 12 years old I was sitting down and waiting for my mom to take me to school when I was suddenly overwhelmed by a cluster of golden orbs surrounding me!
From that day forward I would suffer from depression symptoms, and became obsessed with the idea of light and energy.
..............
And no, I don't think I'm an angelkin.
That sounds like way too much power.
Though I DO resort to acting like a magical girl from anime in my dreams because of this obsession.  (Think Sailor Venus!)
So, I have a thing for healing, not dying, lots of evil and scary forces to deal with (I try to fight with light, doesn't work, so I flee!), and attempting to fly but only seems to work based on my faith and positivity of my emotions.
...............  (googles)

Every case is different and you may be something that hasn't been described before.
Even though, I think that's enough evidence to call you otherkin (or being paranoid lel).

OKAY!
So I've been doing research and here's what I believe!
1.  I don't think I'm otherkin, because I don't shift or ever feel like I'm in the wrong body other than a few gender related things but I still feel human.  (I sometimes hate having boobs and wish my hair would just stay short)
2.  However, if there IS something spiritual here then I think I attracted a spirit of sorts that one time, and it relates to myself and my bipolar like symptoms.
Not saying it caused my illness, as it IS a biological thing seeing as my pills work, but perhaps my illness attracted that spirit?
3.  And with bipolar comes manic and depressive episodes that are all about being so positive that you're convinced you can do anything to being so negative that you could simply die right there.
I think that the light might have something to do with positive energy.

Aaaand that's enough of my rambling about myself.
Tell me about YOUR own otherkin situations, guys, I'm curious just for the sake of learning about different spiritual beliefs.
