An Epic Tale: One Sentence at a Time!

So I'm surprised this game isn't already here; it's one that we used to play all the time on another forum I was part of. Anyway, the basic idea of the game is to tell a story together, one sentence at a time. The story can be epic or funny or serious or just plain weird, it just depends on what everyone turns it into. So I'll start with the first sentence and then the next poster will add on by writing the next sentence of this story. So I guess...let's begin:

Once upon a time, there was a young grizzly bear who decided to take residence in a small, peaceful village tucked away deep within a luscious, green valley.

The tree was tremendous in size, the biggest he had ever seen and yet, he did not recall having ever seen it before.

The bear tried to climb up top the tree, rising higher and higher as he scaled the trunk; his claws digging into the bark.

He closed his eyes clinging to the tree, the horrific image burning in his mind, when he opened them again to see that the tree had grown.
