Shift --- The Game
« on: August 28, 2011, 02:49:37 AM »

Live Action RPG - A roleplay that takes place in real time with players who are real people posing or acting as their characters. A LARP utilizes neither a controller or a computer screen, but a person's ability to act and react.

PLOT

You have always been an imaginative person. When you heard of something called 'The Game,' a Live Action RPG for teens, designed to take place in your home city, Albuquerque New Mexico, you jumped right aboard and sent in an application. The application was never meant to be accepted or rejected, rather, if you were considered to be good 'material' for the LARP, someone would meet you personally and induct you into the game, which would start right after they left. You had no clue what the story was about, only that it was meant to be a realistic roleplay. The person who inducted you was also supposed to tell you about the story.

You realized before you started that playing The Game was going to be a major commitment...it was something that would happen all day, every day. No matter where you were, you were supposed to be in character. Your only respite from being in character would be sleep and school. Right after the final bell rang, you would have to slip into costume and adjust your voice and mannerisms according to the role you were playing.

You were very eager to begin The Game. You already bought a costume, filled out a character sheet, practiced how you would act and talk. You waited and waited for two months for someone to come and tell you what the story was about, and invite you in. But no-one came.

Saddened, you figured that you were simply not what they were looking for in a player.

It has been an ordinary day for you: school, homework, maybe work. But when you finally get home and head for your room, you find a blue sticky note on your door---

Strange. You thought someone was supposed to come talk to you...and how could you even trust a suspicious note such as this? But you're interested, however. After some deliberation, you finally decide to slip on your costume and head over.

The Setting - Albuquerque, New Mexico. A medium sized city in the desert. For reference, google.

You - Your character can be furry or human. If furry, stick to the most average version of your fursona. That is, no powers, strange abilities, wings, or glow in the dark fur. Dragons or avians may have wings that are attached to their arms, but may not fly. Your character must be a teen between the ages of 13-18, and must be in school, but you may choose between:

*Public School, Sandia High: Sandia High is the best choice for public school in Albuquerque. It has a variety of students, courses and honors programs available and most of its students graduate. It's located on the high end of town near the richer suburbs and Sandia Peak, the mountain to the east of the city.

*Boarding School, Cardinal Academy for Youths: Parents in the high rise district of the city that feel public school is below their child send them here, that and parents from other towns and states. If a teen does not have a home in town, and has been sent here from elsewhere, then they must live in either the female or the male dorms. Cardinal Academy is located outside the city, to the west. Coursework is rigorous, and the halls and campus are patrolled for misbehaving or wandering students. There is a special division of the school that specializes in troubled teens. These teens are shepherded and watched over, and must have permission to leave campus. Uniforms are required.

Female Fall/Winter Uniform

*Homeschooling: Some teens choose homeschool as the preferred choice and take their courses online and through textbooks and workbooks sent to them from the program they're utilizing. This can be done anywhere, from any computer. Teens are expected to be responsible and do their work on their own.

Your Persona - Your persona is the character your main char has decided to roleplay. This can mean simply a change in attitude, voice, and costume. Or your character can be so into his/her persona that they feel like they become a whole separate person. A different name is required. Changes in costume, attitude and voice are recommended but not required. Your persona can simply be a slight alteration of yourself. Personas have no biography or background as of yet, since you were never given a storyline for the RP.
