Title: How did you pick your Fursona?

I'm hoping this thread is in the right place but anyway I was curious about fursonas in general. How did you guys come to pick your fursona? Is it just a favourite animal or something deeper? How did you decide on their looks / what inspired  them? Also do you consider a fursona a representation of yourself self or more of a "character" so to speak. Personally I've never been 100% sure on either thing so Ive never really had an actual fursona but I kinda wanna make one even though I probably wouldn't feel comfortable with them being "me" but rather  just a character.

I pick my sona based on my favorite "Pokemon"
once in a while will use a real species either feline or fox

I mainly started with one, Firox the fire fox (Flareon), at the time I joined it was my most favorite
along the way learning that others have multiple sonas, I kind of do the same


based on an RP fun I have with an Eevee friend (called "Snack Den (https://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?topic=31183.55950)") once a month I'll go with a different sona so it has fun with all - I have one of each 'Eevee'lution - 5 males and 5 females

Males: Joseph - Firox - Jyo - Arval - Zoran
Females: Vay - Flower - Linette - Grace - Sherrie

I went through a few characters in the beginning, trying to find what felt right.
I'm from Norway, which is very close to the polar circle, and thus is more than moderately cold. And I like foxes a lot, find them fascinating and cute. Cold climate and a love for foxes resulted in the arctic fox I now associate with.

As for how much the character represents me: I view Jenac as an image of what I wish I could be, not so much what I am. He's tall, attractive and charismatic, I'm neither  :S

I'm not entirely sure but I've always admired the smilodon and didn't want to settle for spots or lack of a mane so I took the stripes from a tiger and the mane from a lion and put it all on there. It just seemed to work.

Mmm, I didn't really pick my species as much as it picked me. I know it's a tad controversial, but being a therian I picked the animal species I am inside. Then I selected a few things I thought that would look nice and that would set me apart from other feral snow leopards, whilst keeping the normal snow leopard fur colours. It's personality is still based on mine.

Dinosaurs are undeniably cool, fur because I'm the type of person to sit on a fence and never pick a side.
