Title: The Hunt
Post by: Hunter568 on January 31, 2019, 08:37:36 AM
One-on-one RP between myself and Arval
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hunter leads the chase, bounding over the hillside and down into a valley, where the herd of caribou is grazing.

aWOOOooooOOOOOO!
*Come, Arval! Follow quickly!*

(thanks, great start for sure)

Hearing the calls, following the howls, flicking ears to get closer to the calls
I'm a bit too far and lower voice to call out

From the distance do manage to see the faint outline of Hunter and any other wolves in the pack
also being part fox makes me slightly bit smaller than the rest
being my first hunt as well with all, do follow all by

picking up speed, some dust from the dirt floor
"coming..."
trying to howl back was a bit of a challenge, not loud enough to be heard
*AwooooOOOOO* trying to raise voice at the end

Hunter notices his friend is falling behind a bit, and slows his pace as the rest of the pack begins to form.

"It's okay friend, stick by me and I'll help you out," he says to Arval as he draws up alongside him. The pack begins picking up speed, separating an older caribou from the herd, and Hunter urges Arval along to keep him with the group whenever they change direction.

The lead wolf howls.
AWOOoooOOOOOooooo!
*Close in for the kill!* he commands.

Hunter instinctively begins to surge forward with the rest of the group, the leader's howl moving him to run faster and faster, panting as he kicks up clouds of dust behind him.

Just the first time I'll be a bit slower, for a newcomer, I'll get the hang of it
For now I look at the rest of the pack to see how they hunt together and make a note too

I speeds up a bit to stay caught up as much behind Hunter as I can
I flick ears in the direction of the howl, turning direction to keep up with all

Seeing the caribou up ahead

The lead wolf makes his first strike, hanging onto the old caribou's back with teeth and claws. He falls off when the animal gives a big jerk to shake him off.

Its not over though, far from it. Others start leaping and clawing to bring the caribou down, moving strategically to flank him and prevent him from running away.

Hunter leaves Arval to help finish the hunt. "See you when its over!" he calls back quickly. He joins the groups front, and along with the others, the beast is finally pulled down.

The lead wolf gives another howl.
AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
*Victory!*

Following Hunter's advice and studying the the rest of the pack, gives me a good idea on how hunting is like

"that was fast" as I look over to try to help, its over that fast
"everyone makes it look easier than what it is?"
I remain fascinated, trying to soak in all the hunting techniques

I give off a small 'howl' *Awooo* a bit low still haven't able to learn how to make it louder

Hunter howls back in reply.
AWOOOOOO!
*Come eat!*

When Arval is closer, he gives him a friendly lick on the face. "It's always hard at first. Takes time to learn how to move with the pack. We're just used to it because we do it all the time," he says. "I'll get you some food, if you want. It'll be hard for a little guy like you to fight for your turn with the others."

I smile and murr from friendly words of advice and affection

"it does make sense. Will take me some practice and time, thanks, that chase and studying as well left me with a good appetite... sure I'll join in"

getting closer do feel a bit 'shy' not nervous being the new one, does feel a bit 'strange' at first

"I usually hunted smaller creatures by surprise, I'll learn along the way - should learn the other's name along the way"

"Yes, you'll get to know everyone with time. The eating part is always a bit of a frenzy, let me grab you a bit," Hunter says, moving forward into the pack of jostling wolves.

He pulls out two good strips of meat from the caribou thigh.

"Here, friend! Eat up. Enjoy your first meal with the pack," he says, giving one to Arval. "There's plenty to go around, so don't be shy about getting more if you want it."

Hunter starts to chow down, very eager to have his dinner.

(sorry on delay, just had a long work day, a bit exhausted)

"alright, everyone seems that way.. thanks you, can't wait to try it out and help out too"

I look over at all enjoying the meal, I also devour it slowly, enjoying the taste, as the belly fill up, so does the sleepy feeling.

Hunter gets sleepy too, as do the other wolves of the pack. Everybody lays down once the food is all gone so they can take a nap.

"Let's take a rest friend," Hunter says to Arval, curling up next to him. He feels himself drifting off to sleep.

I nod and eat it slow, enjoying every bite
once its gone I just find a nice good spot, before saying
"good rest" to every one, at least until I learn their names

I rest as well, at least until all wake
before starting the next steps into learning how to live in a pack

The pack wakes up the next morning, all the wolves getting up to begin the trek home.

"Follow me, friend. We are heading back to our den now," Hunter says to Arval.

I give off a nice big stretch
looking over, getting up as well

"back in the den, I should start getting to meet the rest of the pack, learning how all live together"
a bit of shaky start, that 'half awake / half asleep" feeling

Hunter nudges him with his nose, and licks him on the cheek to wake him up a bit

"Yes, you will get properly introduced when we finish the journey back," he says.

"thanks there Hunter, ready for the journey"
*stretching out*

I start to follow everyone
admiring the great scenery along the way

Hunter pants happily as they get closer to their home, heading off the open grasslands and deep into the woods. All the other wolves are excited to get back too.

Many are howling, and Hunter howls with them.

"awooOOOOOOOO!"

I pants once we get closer, admiring the outside view first of the den, the surrounding forest
"its really such a great place to live, a little of everything for sure"
looking right
"a great place to get some drink, river looks nice, I can imagine it might be deep in some spots for swimming - so much open space to run and exercise.... such a great home area for sure"

"is it fine to howl alongside all?"
