Ok, so I literally just joined this wonderful-looking community but all I know is that I need a furry crime RP in my life ASAP!
Scenario/Setting:
So I'm thinking something along the lines of Breaking Bad or Black Lagoon, but with furries! Normal people (er, animals) gradually getting wrapped up in the criminal underworld. Mafias, gangs, cartels, drug empires, all sorts of nasty rings. The setting would be urban. Maybe NYC, maybe Detroit, maybe a nondescript American town, maybe a fictional city, I don't really care but I'd love to discuss any ideas anyone has! I don't want any fantasy stuff though, outside of the talking animals of course. Let's keep it nice and gritty, like a noir.

I'm sure you guys are mature, you know all the basics. Don't be a jerk, write as best you can, all of that jazz! Probably shouldn't join this if you've never been in an RP like this before.

Background: Jason is an unremarkable young man perfectly content with living the rest of his life on minimum wage, far too lazy and without any aspiration to go beyond dead-end service jobs. His obedience and vague extroversion contribute to this. Fortunately for him, his parents haven't been exasperated by his wasted potential yet, even though he's mere months from graduation and still with no future in sight.

How dark are you thinking? Black Lagoon got PRETTY dark.
Just need to know for how I'd be playing any character types if I join. Don't want to accidentally drop a paragon in when it'd be more fun to play a no holds barred bad guy.

That's probably the most complex thing we could discuss. I'd like it to be dark but not gratuitous. Breaking Bad got gratuitous with its body disposal scene and Black Lagoon got gratuitous with the rape scene and Hensel and Gretal (in my opinion). I'd personally like to have little to no straight up shock value like that, but I wouldn't really care if someone did it. Hardcore baddies are always fun though. I definitely still want it to have a lot of levity also. Furries are naturally fun and sweet, it'd be jarring to have it be 100% grimdark.

Yeah, know the feeling on the gratuity. Plus, it'd push the rules pretty hard.

Occupation: Pickpocket, spy, hired hand, whatever suits her best for a situation. Never works a job with ties.
Personality: Personable with a distance, cunning, quiet, runs solo. Cruel, but not within sight and only when it won't come back to bite her. She likes the thrill of getting something illegal, but skirts the fight. Works a scene like a car salesman - you'll never remember the face that sold that lemon, but you'll miss the money they took. Might not even get the right name.
Attire: Black shirts, cargo pants, light but sturdy boots when she's working. Short belted dresses and gladiator sandals when in leisure time. Hats only when required.
Background: Whisker doesn't care to talk about the past, and when she does, the story might be a story to string a customer along - or string them up. She works back alley deals for easy cash, and doesn't care much for territory. She's not messy, though. She'll do her business - trading knockoff watches, moving cargo from boss to boss, making someone disappear - and walk away without leaving prints. Better hold that purse close. You'll never see it disappear.

This RP seems interesting. Never knew I wanted to participate in a noir RP until now.

Personality: Not one to mince words and doesn't like wasting time with useless talk. Really doesn't care what people think and is always straight to the point and blunt. While he never shows it, he is a big softy, even when he is being an absolute asshole.
Attire:Black military BD's, a tank top and wears a brown, leather jacket if it's cold outside.
Background: A military veteran that was medically discharged after falling into a deep depression when his wife and child were murdered in their home while he was deployed overseas. Outside of daily visits to the firing range, he mainly sulks at home, either polishing his 9mm Beretta or lifting weights to push his thoughts out of his head. He sold his home after his discharge and lives in one of the inner-city apartments, getting regular checks from the government on a weekly basis.

Personality: Withdrawn and quiet, somewhat introverted and prefers being alone.
Attire: Typically wears a faded green hoodie and jeans.
Background: Hunter once had a promising academic career and high hopes of attending university and studying law, but ended up dropping out of high school to work full time and take care of his sick uncle (who was his only guardian). He's highly motivated, but financially struggling and frustrated with his situation and his own wasted potential.

Yeah, and it looks like Heisenbeagle hasn't been active since October. I don't know if they're coming back anytime soon.

It's unfortunate that we have to create a new one, especially with Heisenbeagle in limbo. Someone should keep an eye on Heisenbeagle, in case they return. Don't wanna cut them out, y'know?

Attire: Zahil prefers to dress in a manner that best represents him. He can usually be seen wearing button up shirts with tropical or floral designs when he isn't in a well kept suit. His pants are usually simple black dress slacks, and his shoes are a matching color in leather. The feline also sports a pair of black aviators and a dark grey military beret atop his head. A grim reminder of the past he experienced. Lastly, should the feline be agitated enough, he will be seen wearing a black bullet proof vest accompanied by a highly engraved Carcal handgun tucked into his waistband.
"They what? Oh, no, it's fine. I don't mind losing shipments really... Martinez please go get Maria and make sure she is loaded. We are gonna pay our friends a visit."
Background: Zahil originated in a remote location, far south and beyond what normal people would assume to be "the law." His life was unremarkable, and after several years of working on plantations under brutal conditions, he finally got the chance he was waiting for. Long story short, the government, guards, and everyone else who oppressed him were removed forcefully during a revolution. For his participation, he was awarded an opportunity in the business that was being organized. After a few people made threats, some money was exchanged, and a plan was revised, Zahil found himself where he is now. Sitting at a comfortable desk in his comfortable clothes in a nice, slightly guarded home. Now, he spends his days looking for deals to make, people to enlist, and ways to influence his control in the area his boss designated him to keep watch on.
"Man, lemme tell you. I don't have a lot of fears right? Oceans, sure. Stupid people, definitely. But that's about it. Except the boss. I'd sell someone's first born before I disappoint him. I'm not going back to where I started."

Sorry it's taking me some time, guys. Trying to find out where I can go with this in the regular RP boards. When I was looking into it, I realized that a lot of the things that are involved in this kind of RP would fall into the Adult Serious RP boards, so I'm just trying to find a way to take this without getting into trouble.

Well, we can keep the violence somewhat toned down so that its safe for this board. You are allowed to have injuries and death so long as you don't dwell on the blood and gore too much.
We'd most likely have to cut out darker things like sexual assault or human trafficking, stuff like that. I don't know if you were hoping for something ultra-grimdark or not.

Honestly, I wasn't thinking anything at all. I just saw the theme, and I immediately got hooked on the thought alone. But yeah, I'll have something out soon.
