Anti flag, I have always loved anti flag.
And, well. The dead milkmen. The best-worst punk band. Wonderful.

Used to be really into punk, but got a bit busy with other things. Slooowly working my way back in tho.

I don't really think that alt rock belongs in with punk and grunge, but I guess that really depends on what bands from the fenre you listen to. Modest mouse is my favorite alt rock band.

From my understanding alt rock is a huge super-category that includes many different genres including punk and grunge. That's why I included it in the title.

I have to agree: Wolf Alice is really good.

My favorite band is Brand New. They started out as an early 2000's emo rock band, then became an alternative rock band as they went on. My favorite album of theirs is called "Daisy". You should check out their song "In A Jar" to get the full feeling of what they're like.

Well, Gorillas is listed as an alternative band so there's that but a few others that I love are --

The Taxpayers.
Grave Babies.
Tacocat.
Hunx and His Punx.
The Cribs.
Cold-War Kids.
MGMT.
Modest Mouse.
La Sera.
The Stone Roses.
Kane Strang.

There's a lot more, those are just the ones I remembered the best.

My understanding of Alt. Rock is when you call up your neighbor, your aunt, your boss's daughter's babysitter, and your cablewoman's husband and say, "Let's play music."

They Might Be Giants has been my favorite band for 11 years now, beating out the Beatles, which lasted 4 years before video
game music took over. They're like if a classic Lego Set were transmogriphied into musical instruments.

I love music with complicated melodies and cryptic lyrics. I love messages that go over my head. It's something of a riddle for me. A quote from 33 1/3's Flood, written about the TMBG album of the same name:

"If nonsense, variety, and excess are the hallmarks of cornucopia, then clarity, focus, and restraint are the stuff of famine."

I'm also developing a taste for Cosmo Sheldrake. He is as if Dr. Seuss started composing music (although that description also applies to Danny Elfman, I know).
