Title: Alex's Art Corner
Post by: Alex Vepra on October 29, 2016, 06:09:30 PM
Hello there!

I've only joined the forums recently, but have decided to also post some of my artsy stuff in here. I do traditional a lot, simply because I spend a lot of time drawing outside, and bringing my pencil and a few small pieces of paper is much easier than bringing my tablet. I do draw digitally as well, though, although I'm a newbie at it. Only recently have I discovered an art program that drastically improved the quality of my pictures, so now I'm trying to work with it as often as possible. :)

Here's my deviantArt account, pretty new, but there still are some pieces, furry and non-furry: http://alexvepra.deviantart.com (http://alexvepra.deviantart.com)

And some of the examples of my recent work! I really appreciate any sort of feedback. :D

These look wonderful! What software do you use?

Thank you! :D

I use Paint Tool SAI coupled up with a Wacom Intuos Pro drawing tablet. My pieces have improved significantly after trying out this piece of software instead of Photoshop. :)

Hehe, I actually much prefer photoshop.
To each their own I guess.

Well, yeah. I mean, I really had trouble even sketching stuff in Photoshop, and after I got to SAI, I got much better. But there's nothing bad about either one, I just prefer SAI. :)

Haven't seen you much around TFF. You new here? :D

Feedback on your art:

I really love your style! The colors you use are fantastic and the coloring is excellent. It looks so soft :0
I also think your latest artwork looks extremely sick in an awesome way  :* , especially without any linework.

However, I can give you some things that you can improve on.
One of the things that kinda made me a bit disappointed were the eyes. I think you should put more definition and detail in the eyes to draw attention to them, unless it's not what you want. One way you can do this is to put a thicker outline around them. I also think more shading could be put in.

Hope this kinda helps!

Yes, I'm quite new here. :P

And thank you on the feedback, I really appreciate it! It's good to see where I could improve! I'll definitely try it out. :)

Something new, and my first attempt at a “furry” body. :)

The autonomy is off, but you surely have potential. What helps for me is to look up how they look IRL, and if any autonomy problems arise I try to learn from them. In this case the front paws look too long, for example. If you keep practising I'm sure you can become a good artist. It appears you have little trouble with headshots though.

Thank you for the feedback! To be honest, yes, the positioning is a bit off because I firstly made the head and only then decided to add the body, plus I made the picture without having access to any references whatsoever, so I couldn't really draw inspiration from them in this piece. And as to the paws, what exactly do you mean? I've actually asked about that and we don't think they're long or anything? Could you specify, please? :)

The paws just seem too long for the body from this perspective. Or, more likely, it could be it seems that way for me because the head is too high.
