Title: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Rayleonarde on January 24, 2016, 11:35:13 AM
Story: This takes place a little more than a year after Resident Evil 6's story, Ada Wong destroyed Neo Umbrella, China got infected by missiles loaded with viral payloads. Chris Redfield returned to action, and Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin helped create a cure for the C-Virus.  However, another threat has risen from the ashes of Umbrella. PARASOL (clever name, right?) has begun production and distribution of a new virus, the H-Virus.  Causing various mutations in humans and furs both, along with insects and wild animals. However, even though Umbrella has again fallen, active cleaner squads still remove Umbrella and PARASOL evidence from locations across the world. The BSAA still defend against the use of Biological Weapons, and the world governments are trying to clean the zombies, both the C-Virus infectees and the new H-Virus infectees, from the planet.

Nitty-Gritty: Players choose from working in Umbrella Security Service (USS) teams, the BSAA, government Agents, or as a civilian in conflict areas. USS teams blend in with the BSAA, the Agents, or even civilians, to keep PARASOL locations from being discovered.

Forgot to add Powers and/or mutations. These can be utilized by everyone, but if people know you're not normal, USS will hunt you down, and everyone else will despise you.

Alright, we can start.

Helicopters thundered through the skies, upsetting a few birds that had roosted in the treeline just a small town with a name no one really remembered. This was one of many locations thought to contain a secret black site utilized by the once world-feared Umbrella Corporation, which had reared it's ugly head again as PARASOL.

Ray sat in the Chinook helicopter taking him to some podunk town in the middle of nowhere. Reports indicated BOW's in the area, and needed removed. He was a new recruit, and had yet to learn about the enemies he would face. Ray checked his equipment for the seventh time since the beginning of the ride. He looked nervous.

Akim was sitting in his shelter in a small, rundown town. He was absent-mindedly tapping keys on a typewritter he found lying around while thinkihg about his continued survival. Someone had seen him regenerate a bullet wound, so there was no doubt he will have to rely on only himself from now on. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of helicopters. He grabbed his 909. He might need it.

*Crest sat out in a small alleyway between to rundown houses in the town. He looked at his guns and sighed at the monster he had become. The shadows cover his face so very little is clear. Crest looks up to the sky when he hears the loud nose of the helicopters. He gulped and ran, trying to find a place to hide*

The helicopters began to settle down on a football field, deploying two squads of BSAA agents. The plan was simple, get the civilians to safety and sweep for Umbrella files. Ray sighed, and rubbed his face. Man, what a first mission. And no training before hand, either.

Cyprus, stepping out of the Chinook with his weapon loosely slung by his right hip, raised his head and began to scan the area surrounding the football field. As one of the higher ranks deployed on this mission, it was his responsibility to make sure his men were safe, and knew what they were doing.
Confident that they shouldn't encounter any contacts soon after deployment, he unzipped one of his chest pouches and drew a thick pen-like object. Holding it to the sky, he pressed a switch on the side of the device that lit it's tip up with a bright green light.
"Alright boys!" he yelled, waving the beacon around. "Split up, and keep sharp!"
With his words, one large squad of agents departed to the far side of the football field, to begin sweeping the main market street. The other squad waited for Cyprus's command, and stood with their weapons ready.
He caught one of his agents rubbing at his face and letting out a long, nervous sigh, as opposed to joining his comrades in being ready for any threats. Striding up to him, Cyprus grabbed him firmly by the shoulder.
"Recruit."

Cyprus was interrupted as Akim, who had decided to hide in plain sight, approached.

"Hello. Is there anything that I can help you out with? Food, Intel, meetings, I can give you whatever... for a reasonable price of course"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray flinched, and looked up at Cyprus. "Y-Yes sir?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Eyeing up the stranger who'd decided to approach them, Cyprus patted gently on Ray's shoulder before releasing him, moving towards the newcomer. Concealing his hand behind his back, he made a few intricate hand gestures, prompting his agents to ready their weapons, but keep them lowered to reduce any signs of aggression.
Frowning, Cyprus shook his head, gesturing to the rest of his operation.
"We're not here to make deals with the locals." Cyprus explained, waving his hand dismissively. "We're here to extract civvies."
Hiding the other part of the mission seemed appropriate, considering he was dealing with a completely unknown and possibly dangerous stranger.
"We appreciate your willingness to help, but we won't be needing it. You're free to come with extraction, or stay here, assuming you're clean."

Ok man. Just trying to make a living.

*cut on face heals and dissapears*

Ignore that please. *now much more nervous sounding*
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on February 07, 2016, 02:58:17 AM
Now quite obviously aware of the mutation that Akim possessed, Cyprus couldn't help but sigh at the stranger before him. While he made sure to keep his right hand floating above his sidearm, he quickly decided on what to do.
"I can't help but notice it, now that you mention." Cyprus stated, rubbing his jaw as he thought. "Seeing as you're not clean, we should be on orders to apprehend or eliminate you."
Taking a few seconds to inspect the nervous face before him, Cyprus growled at his inner sympathy.
"Look, you haven't posed a threat. I'm more than happy to let you go free, and as long as you don't give us any problems, it'll stay that way."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Penguins@StanleyCup on February 07, 2016, 03:05:37 AM
"Thanks, I appreciate it. Ehhh if you ever change your mind or if your superiors make you change your mind, I will always prefer apprehension over elimination... "

Akim now walks home at a very brisk pace, locks the door to his house, and sets about making a mask, and adding sleeves to his shirt so that people will never see that again.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on February 07, 2016, 03:12:13 AM
Cyprus watched the stranger walk away quickly, praying that he'd be smart enough to not go head on against a group of heavily armed agents.
Turning back to Ray, he gently tapped the back of his hand against the recruit's arm.
"Look, you're going to be nervous, but this is a routine job. There's never anything more than a little skirmish, and we have the upper hand."
He then swung around to the rest of his squad, twirling his finger in the air and pointing towards an opening in the buildings.
"Form up and move, we're sweeping the apartment sector. I'll lead."
Running to the head of the group, the squad began to head towards a large block of apartment buildings in the hope of finding any innocents and sensitive PARASOL material.

Akim had taken an alternative route through the city, and now once again saw the football feild, with its helicopters, or as he liked to call them "my way out of this h**l hole". He had watched the BSAA agents move into the city, so now was a golden opportunity to take a helicopter. He began moving in.

*Crest saw this going on from the rooftops and was confused. Why would  a mutant deliberately go up to some agents? He sighed and waited for them all to pass on, so he could get about his day*

Ray stayed near the helicopter's as part of a guard detail. The noise would've attracted infected for sure.

Ray checked his rifle, and then the magazine. He sighed, and moved to check the other side of the field.

As the squads dispersed, reports of infected targets were sent over the radio, followed quickly by gunfire. It was short, sweet, and to the point, as the BSAA agents brought the uninfected civilians to the evac zone.

Cyprus popped his head over a damaged concrete barricade, lined his sights up with an infected on an overhead balcony, and squeezed off three quick shots from his rifle. The infected buckled forwards and fell several stories, bubbling away into nothing after it had landed violently. Ducking back into cover, his hand dove to the radio on his chest, and pressed into the transmit button.
"Guard detail, town is absolutely swarming. Eyes on the roofs, I want you on highest alert 'cause there's no telling if we're going to need to retre-"
A shot shattered a large chunk of concrete beside his head, prompting him to duck down even further to escape the gunfire. Hand back on his rifle, he rose back out of cover and fired off several more shots at advancing mutants. Soon hearing the empty click of his weapon, he dropped his magazine to the floor and replaced it with a fresh one, racking the bolt.
"We need to flank!" he yelled, pointing to two of the closest agents. "You two, with me! We're going into the complex!"
Cyprus leapt to his feet and sprinted towards the large glass doors of the apartment complex, drawing his sidearm and firing two quick rounds into one of the glass panes, weakening it enough to allow him to jump straight through the door frame and shatter the glass. Two agents, one armed with a small sub-machine gun, and the other with a shotgun, followed suit.

Akim continued moving towards the helicopters trying not to get spotted. The gunfire in the distance acted as a good motivator for that.

Ray looked around, and kept his rifle ready. He keyed up on his radio, and answered Cyprus. "Y-Yes sir!" Ray checked the rooftops, completely missing both Crest and Akim. He was obviously frightened, unsure of where the infected were coming from. The chain-link fences surrounding the football field kept the LZ safe, but for how long.

Laying flush against a wall, Cyprus gestured for the shotgun agent to breach the door. The soldier locked his barrel against the door's hinge, firing a buckshot round into the metal and shattering it, before doing the same to the other hinge. Cyprus drew his MP-AX and dove around the corner, firing some quick suppression shots at three mutants attempting to pick off his men. One promptly fell, but the others dove into their own cover, blind-firing like crazy over tables and chairs. Sliding into cover behind a sofa, Cyprus found himself being peppered with rounds.
A few seconds later, a wooden door behind the mutants shattered, and several more mutants flocked into the room. Reaching to his vest, Cyprus grabbed a frag grenade, pulled the pin with his teeth, and tossed it aimlessly over his head. Seconds later, a deafening explosion shattered the windows and tore apart the mutants suppressing him. The building shook slightly at the sudden vibration, but seemed to be holding well.

Akim saw that the soldier that was left back as a gaurd was distracted on the radio. He took this as his chance, so he ran up behind him, threw him onto the ground, smashed his radio, and held him at gunpoint with his pistol.

"I do not want a fight. If you hand over your weapons, and let me take one of this helicopters, you will sustain no injury."

"Boss!"
Quickly ducking behind a wall away from the corridor of lead that they'd walked into, Cyprus pressed a finger to his ear and listened.
"What'd you find?"
"Injured civvies, and a couple leads on different black sites across the country. From what we could tell, there's one here further in town. We're cleaning up here and heading back to MEDEVAC the civilians, how copy?"
Sighing in relief, glad that they'd at least been somewhat productive, Cyprus grinned.
"Solid copy. Head on back, we'll do the same."
"See you in ten."
"Yep."
Releasing his earpiece, he peeked around the corner and fired off a couple of shots at the contacts, before gripping his radio again.
"Squad, we've recovered intel on black sites. Fall back to the field, we're going to orchestrate MEDEVAC on civvies, then a black site sweep to the town center. Guard detail, expect us in five."
He gestured for his agents to fall in, and they did so. They quietly bailed to the stairwell and began to descend, when Cyprus realized he hadn't gotten a response.
"I say again, Guard Detail, expect us in five. Do you copy?"
A few seconds passed with absolutely nothing in response. Expecting the worst, Cyprus snarled, pressing aggressively into his radio one last time.
"We've lost contact with guard detail. All forces return to field, and expect contact. We need those helicopters."
The three agents quickly burst through the street door at the bottom of the complex, and hightailed it back in the direction of the field.

Ray, unhindered by the strangers' words, sighed in relief as the ramp shut. He then ran to the front of the helicopter, and grabbed the radio. "Lieutenant? C-Can you hear me?" The young raccoon kept his voice low, hoping the two outside would forget about him.

The squads of BSAA agents finally turned corners into the field, one large group of two dozen appearing from a street directly in front of Akim, immediately raising their weapons. The other smaller group emerged behind them, slowly advancing behind them. They were taking a crescent formation in front of almost a dozen wounded civilians, worried and confused. Cyprus caught sight of a newcomer, standing over the recruit with two rather elaborate weapons in his hands, and someone of a somewhat familiar body shape edging towards the larger squad. Raising his rifle, he clenched his fist to signal his squad to stop yet keep their sights on the targets. He caught sight of the recruit scrambling into a helicopter, and prayed he wasn't being foolish.
"You have five seconds to step away or we will open fire!"
Hearing the recruit speak to him through the radio, he quickly dove back into the crowd of soldiers and tapped his radio.
"Recruit, don't do a **censor** thing. Keep low, and keep your safety off. The moment you fear for your life, tap one right into their eyes. If we hear a shot, we'll open fire. Understand?"

Seeing that one of the targets was smart enough to drop his weapon, namely the one who was slightly familiar, confirmed his suspicions as to who it was.
However, the other dropped down, yet didn't release his firearms. Pointing his weapon more intensely, he signaled for his squad to slowly advance, starting to cut down the distance between them.
"I said drop your weapons!" Cyprus screamed, snarling, the target's expletive remark towards them serving no purpose but to anger him more.
Before long, the huge battalion of BSAA agents had formed a huge ring around them, all pointing fully automatic weapons at the pair.

Ignoring everything that they were saying, Cyprus drew his microphone incredibly close to his mouth and spoke some almost inaudible commands to the closest men to him, who slowly trained their aim from Crest's head to his hands, prepared to shoot his weapons from his hands at the slightest sign of any threat.
"Never before," Cyprus growled. "Have I met someone who could be so **censor** stubborn in front of thirty automatic rifles."
Walking slowly in a wide circle around the armed stranger, he lowered his own rifle and instead drew his sidearm, pointing it square between his eyes.
"What the **censor** are you achieving, by trying to halt extraction attempts on innocent civilians?" he asked, swallowing his irritation.

((Alright, Cyprus would have probably lost his temper quite soon regardless.))

Looking Crest dead in the eyes, Cyprus reflected on his words, his anger slipping away. Taking the last few steps up to him, so that his weapon was touching Crest's face, he looked to the floor in hesitation for a few seconds before making hard eye contact again.
"I'm not the monster."
Pulling the trigger, Cyprus let one lone shot ring out over the horizon. The wolf dropped like a rag-doll, the sound of his body hitting the grass accompanying the echo that bounced through the streets.
Slipping his pistol back into his leg drop holster, Cyprus made his way over to Akim and grabbed him by the neck of his shirt, pulling him to his feet before pushing him away. The ring of agents tightened, making a smaller space around them both.
"Don't make me do the same to you."

Cyprus let go of him, taking a few steps back. He kept the cold eye contact with Akim for a few more seconds, before signalling for his squad to start loading the wounded civilians onto the Chinook. He turned away, activating his radio and speaking to Ray.
"Open the ramp, recruit. We've got blues to extract."
Letting his hand fall to his side, he turned back around to the seething husky, keeping his face stern and straight.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't let one infected jeopardize the entire operation." he spoke. "If you were responsible for getting so many home, what would you have done?"
While the choppers were still being loaded with civilians, they now started to warm up their engines, the rotors beginning to spin slowly.

Cyprus growled, closing his eyes and turning around. He lay his hand on the side of his muzzle in exasperation.
"I'll stop killing people when there's nothing left to lose." he whispered to himself, swinging his rifle around to meet his hands.
Gesturing for his search squad to form up, he looked over his shoulder to Akim.
"Good luck to you." he spoke, sparing another quick glance to the body beside them.
Reaching to his pack and undoing a few clasps, he released his MP-AX sub machine gun from it's strap cage. He tossed the weapon in Akim's direction.

Cyprus didn't know how to react.
The helicopter burst into flames, tumbling out of the sky and crashing into a hotel several blocks away, and he just stared as it fell. The other helicopter got away undamaged, floating off into the horizon as it's sound dulled.
All was silent for a few minutes, before one of the BSAA agents cautiously approached the lieutenant.
"Uh...Sir? What are our orde-"
"Find him." Cyprus whispered, clenching his fist.
"B-But the intel suggests a black site in the cen-"
"I don't give a **censor**! We bring him down!"
Spinning on his heels, Cyprus made to sprint in the direction that the mutant had decided to leave, but caught a gentle golden glistening in the corner of his eye.
In the wolf's hands lay his weapons, two elegant Lightning Hawk hand cannons, personalized and decorated.
Moving to the body's side, Cyprus fell to his knees and lay a palm on the wolf's chest, using the other to close his eyes.
After a few seconds of stillness, he gently eased the weapons from the wolf's hands, weighing them in his own and checking them over. There was something strange about using the weapons of someone he'd so readily murdered, but in the world of today it wasn't a matter of honor or morals. It was a matter of getting the job done.
And the bigger the guns, the more effectively you could do that job.
Praying he'd have another chance to apologize, Cyprus began his walk into town, a dozen agents behind him.

Akim sat in the wreakage of what was once a place that he called home. He knew he had just committed suicide. The BSAA would be at his door/hole in the wall at any moment. He did not care. He lit a fire, sat down facing away from the door, and put a pot of water and some tea leaves over the fire.

After the initial roar of the explosion, something responded. A bellow, from a giant creature, pierced the skies, scaring the rest of the birds in the area. The ground shook, as something massive approached.

Ray crawled painfully away from the helicopter wreckage, hoping someone saw him.

Striding past a long-since emptied fountain, Cyprus' hands shook as he scanned the buildings for any sign of where the mutant might have gone. So far he'd been unlucky, finding absolutely nothing but corpses of the infected slain by the other squad of agents while they were searching for intel. He'd pulled ahead of the other agents, his blood boiling, his heart aching to get revenge on the cold bastard who'd kill civilians without a single thought.
That's when he heard the guttural, primal cry of something much, much more significant.
Freezing in his tracks, he stopped and turned, looking back towards the pillar of smoke rising from the helicopter crash site. Looking to the sky for a few tentative seconds, he looked to his squad and started inspecting faces, counting how many people he could recognize.
Ten, twelve, fourteen, fifte-
They were missing someone.
A sharp inhale later, Cyprus took one last look to the road ahead, knowing that Akim was out there somewhere. He vowed that, someday, the mutant would receive what he deserved.
And he turned back around, running to the field once more. Something larger was heading this way, and it had to be dealt with.

((Sorry I'm a little late with a reply, had a bunch of college stuff to do.
I like that idea. I think Ray might be setting this up to have a bit of an encounter with something similar to Popokarimu or even something bigger, so maybe we could do a time skip after that.))

Giant footsteps shook the ground, as a massive, three-legged humanoid shape charged into view. Slightly larger than the buildings around it, the creature smashed cars and downed powerlines as it beelined towards the EVAC zone. It had uprooted a tree at some point, and was flailing the trunk around as a makeshift club. Huge hardened plates of skin covered it's shins, but left the kneecaps exposed. In all, the creature looked like it had some kind of rash, red from head to toe, aside from the hardened areas.

Ray was just standing up, with the help of medical personnel. He had a few bits of shrapnel stuck in his vest, but was fine nonetheless. Ray, upon seeing the creature, turned and shouted at Cyprus. "Sir?! W-What're your orders?!"

((Yep! We'll five-year skip after this fight.))

"Shit!" Cyprus hissed. "This is the exact kinda' shit you hear about in stories back home."
Quickly scanning it's form, he took note of the exposed knees. From everything he'd heard from HQ, and the stories from higher ranked personnel, these things always had an obvious weak point. It's knees fit that criteria.
Hopping backwards, he pointed towards the BOW and slammed his hand into his radio.
"All agents, focus fire on the knees! Try to bring it down!" he ordered, opening fire with the two hand cannons he still possessed. Before long, the other squads opened fire, ducking into cover and peppering the creature's exposed kneecaps.

Though causing fluid to fly from the monster's kneecaps, the small-arms fire did nothing to stop the beast.  It continued forward, though at a slower gate.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Dropping the now empty hand cannons, Cyprus watched as it's pace slowed, the concentrated fire definitely having some kind of effect. Drawing his rifle, he switched to full-automatic and fired another quick burst into the exposed flesh.
"Keep it up, keep it up!" he screamed, reaching forward and grabbing at a nearby agent's arm, pulling him back as the creature approached. "Move with it! Keep moving backwards!"
Emptying his magazine, he turned and ran to a small group of agents, one of which was stowing a large green cylinder on his back. Sliding to a stop next to them, he dropped his magazine and loaded another, releasing the bolt.
"Guys, get that launcher ready. I have a feeling we're going to need it."

The creature continued forward, and raised it's grotesque claw. After a few moments, it launched grimy spines towards the agents, spearing some of the BSAA soldiers. It was apparent the creature had no intention of leaving the agents alone.

Cyprus grit his teeth as he watched soldiers fall, aiming carefully and squeezing off a few extra shots. Before long, he was out of ammunition again, and instead turned to run to a distant group of units and assist in medically treating some of his men.
The nearby agent quickly primed his launcher, taking aim at the BOW. With a quick press of his thumb, the explosive warhead leaped from the weapon's barrel and hurtled towards it's target, joining the small arms fire in pounding away at it's knees.

"How the **censor**!" Cyprus spat, staring in disbelief as it just shrugged off a high explosive round. Several agents observed the launcher's futile efforts, and slowed their firing in the wake of their own fear. Tensing his fists, his claws shot to his radio once again.
"HQ, this is Echo! We've encountered a large tri-pedal BOW, and it's wrecking our shit!" he huffed, taking a few more inaccurate shots.  "There's no way we can take it out with the firepower we've got. We need backup, and we need it fast. How copy?"

((Sorry for the inactivity guys, this whole week my computer's been near enough out of commission. Should be back up and running smoothly now.))

"**censor**." Cyprus spat, taking another quick glance up to the BOW. It didn't show any signs of slowing down, and they were at the limit of what they could achieve with the men they had left.
"Solid copy, HQ." he huffed, dropping his hand from his radio and raising his head to yell.
"All agents, retreat!" he shouted, standing and backpedaling a few feet. "Retreat to the town! Go!"
His agents quickly ceased fire, raised their stances, and took off running in the opposite direction. If he was correct, the BOW's large size should hinder it's ability to maneuver the small market streets. It seemed like small alleys were their best bet.
Ordering his men to split up into small groups of pairs and threes, the squad separated and found their way into the maze of small streets surrounding the town center.

Stepping cautiously out into the streets, Cyprus took a quick glance around the rooftops, hoping he wouldn't see any sign of the creature. Satisfied, he took back to his radio, slipping his weapon onto his back.
"HQ, we've lost the BOW. What's the situation on evac?" he asked, watching as a couple of his agents tentatively stepped out into the streets.

HQ replied, stoic as ever. "Just a few more minutes, had to redirect a civilian flight to get clearance. Hold tight, they're coming."

Ray, who had fled once the creature arrived, found himself turned around, dazed and confused within the town. With his radio busted, he couldn't contact Cyprus, or anyone.

After a hasty jog toward the town center, a few agents were regaining their bearings and preparing for evac, and several others were moving in from the surrounding streets. Activating his radio, he switched his channel to communicate with his entire ground team.
"All fire teams, are we all accounted for?" he inquired, looking around as a few battered and bruised soldiers took some well deserved rest against the nearby fountain.
Everyone but four agents radioed back. He expected three to remain silent. After all, they were the casualties from the BOW, and it was difficult to make radio contact with the deceased.
He could swear he knew who was missing, and it was the one single agent who hadn't come with them to search for civilians. The recruit was the only one missing, and he'd die where he stood if he let another die without a reason.
Equipping his weapon once more, Cyprus ordered his agents to recover the bodies of the dead from the field, and turned to enter the labyrinth of the city again.

Akim now laying down in his crumbling shelter could hear the chaos of fighting die down. From the sound of it the agents were just around the corner.

"Strange," he thought to himself "assuming my explosives killed those agents from before as they flew off I would imagine it would take more to arrive here."

(What? You think I was targeting civilians? No. Akim is not THAT evil.)

(Those helicopters were used for the civilian and troop evac, though? Looking back, I suppose I didn't make it clear, so we'll assume you took down the 'agent' evac chopper and Cyprus is pissed because they were men he was responsible for.)

Several streets later, Cyprus still had found no sign of the lost recruit. He never slowed down, committing himself to finding the young agent. He would not let someone perish on their first mission.
"Recruit!" he barked, looking between several streets at a small junction. "Where the hell are you?"

Akim walked out of his building into the street, and tossed a sack containing some foodz and an unbelievably crude improvised radio through the window of the building across the street that the BSAA agent was hiding in before retreating back to his area. Catching gentle moans and grunts over his own burdened footsteps, Cyprus quickly slowed his pace and fell against the corner of a street. Taking a quick peek around the edge of the bricks, he saw several of the shambling infected, aimlessly wandering through the small market street. What caught his eye was the black mass near a shady alley just past the infected. Laying on the road was an assault rifle, the standard BSAA issue firearm for agents. While there was all the chance that this weapon was dropped by another agent hours ago, it was a risk he was willing to take if it meant finding his last man and getting him home safe.

Far away, at the very end of the street, a black shape ran across the road. It was almost unnoticeable, but the movement drew the agents' gaze to something that was gone in an instant.
His fist tightened, and his frown grew. He didn't have time. His agent was his priority.

Drawing his knife, Cyprus ran into the street while keeping as light on his feet as he could while wearing a tactical vest. Passing the few infected, he spared but a quick moment to throw his fist into each of their heads, and his knife into their skulls. He couldn't risk firing; it might draw more unwanted attention. It took but a dozen seconds to clear the street of the few infected. Picking up the rifle from the road, he made his way into the alley towards a nearby apartment building. If he were wanting to hide from something, a huge building would be one of the best places to hide.

Akim had now retrieved his knife and decided to make his way out of the city. He walked out on to the street and looked to the side at a gun laying in the road. He began making his way over, when he saw the outline of a figure. The sun was behind them so he could not make out any features. He drew his handgun and continued cautiously to the figure, assuming he was approaching from behind.

Ray retreated into the apartment building, and after a few minutes, there was a loud crash, followed by the moans of the infected, and Ray shouting for help. Akim was still making his way to the figure ahead of him when he heard a crash in a nearby building that had infected making their way in. He ran over and put a bullet into the heads of three while shouting, "HELLO? IS ANYONE IN THERE?"

"Help! I'm stuck, and they're right on top of me!" Ray was trying his best to push the infected away, but being on the floor didn't help.

Akim recognized the voice shouting back, but couldn't remember whom it belonged to. Nevertheless after just a moments hesitation, entered the building he blew the heads off of six more infected, stabbed one, then entered the room where the shout had come from to find himself standing over a BSAA agent.

Ray looked up at Akim, and smiled in relief. "T-Thank you! I-I thought...I thought I was dead."

Akim began talking in a somewhat hurried manner, as he didn't particularly want this agent to recognize him until he had left the city."I assume the gun in the street belongs to you then?" Akim asks. "I would assume you have no means of communication as well if you were relying on screaming. If so you may need this." Akim continues as he hands the agent a radio.

Akim turned and walked halfway out the door before adding "If anyone asks, I was never here." before leaving the building.

Ray blinked, confused by the stranger's actions. "W-Wait! W-We're supposed to evacuate all civilians!"

Akim turned around and looked the BSAA agent in the eye. "I am not a civilian." With this he made a slice on his arm using his knife. Almost instantly the wound began to heal.

Ray blinked and was obviously awestruck, unsure of what to say. He was also afraid, as his memory of this mutant returned to him.

"Its getting worse. I no longer feel pain either." Akim said allowing for the slightest undertone of sadness to enter his voice. "Either way I will hold you up no longer. Call for help on that radio I gave you or something. I have some work to do." With that Akim left the building.

Ray blinked, and shook as he lifted the radio to his face, tuning is as he went. "H-Hello? Is a-anyone out there? I-It's uh...it's Ray. The...uh...recruit. I-I'm in an apartment b-building, and lost."

Blinking as a voice came through on the radio, Cyprus ducked away from the road and drew his radio to his face. Peeping around the corner, he made sure he wasn't at risk from any infected stragglers roaming towards him.
"Recruit, which building? I'm out in the streets, and I found your rifle." he spoke, cautiously. "How much further did you go from here?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray stood up, and looked about. "Uhh...s-some apartment building, sir. I never s-saw the name." He started towards the front door. "Um...s-stand by, I'll get the n-name."

Akim was now sitting on the roof of a mostly intact hotel. He had tapped into the frequency the agents were communicating on using his radio, and was now listening in on their conversations.

Looking over the nearby buildings towards a few towering apartment buildings, Cyprus quickly caught sight of the building in question, decorated with a large sign little more than a block away.
"Copy that. Stay there." he ordered, checking his  flanks to make sure he was not at risk. "I'm coming for you. Give me two minutes. If I don't show up, make for the fountain as fast as you can."
Dropping the radio contact, Cyprus holstered his rifle and drew his sidearm, before breaking off into a run down the street in the direction of the apartment block.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Rayleonarde on March 05, 2016, 04:10:49 PM
Ray pulled his head back into the building, and looked around. He wasn't sure how long Cyprus would be, and was starting to panic. What if the lieutenant didn't make it in time, or more zombies showed up.

Zombies, attracted by the burst of gunfire, started towards the apartment, about thirty-five or so. They moved almost  in sync, trudging along. The moans betrayed their presence.

Akim looked down at the street from his vantage point atop the nearby hotel's roof. He saw many stumbling figures entering the building that the BSAA agent was in. Almost certainly infected.

"Again?" he muttered.

While he prepared to make his way off the roof and across the street, he looked down the road a little farther to see another figure running swiftly to the building. He couldn't identify the figure as an agent, but he could make the guess.

Akim decided to take the risk to help the agent. He prayed he would be out of the building before the other agent showed up. With that thought, he hopped off the roof, and began using balconies, windows, etc to climb down to street level.

Cursing as several infected wandered into his previously clear path, Cyprus had to play for time a little, luring the creatures away so that he could make his way towards the building. He moved to the storefront of a nearby clothing shop and smashed one of several intact glass panes. The shattering glass turned the heads of infected throughout the street, and they slowly made their way towards him. All he had to do now was wait for them to move away from the center of the street and form a clear passageway. He prayed it wouldn't take long.

As Akim crossed the street, he saw the infected begin moving down the street in unison... more or less. He stopped for a moment in curiosity to watch.

Ray waited, his back against the door, hoping that Cyprus would appear soon. All he wanted was to be safe again.

The infected migrated towards the storefront, throwing themselves against the building. They pounded the glass, and some even got themselves impaled on the broken glass shards from Cyprus's distraction.

(I did actually try to reply like two days ago, but it just didn't go through. Sorry :/)

Finally, most of the infected had made their way to the right of the street, opening up a somewhat narrow passageway along the left storefronts. Taking the chance, he took off down the walkway, occasionally having to duck away from the few infected that his heavy equipment attracted. Before long, he was nearing the end of the pack, which meant a wide open area lay just in front of the apartment complex.
Finally emerging into the clearing, he panted heavily as he turned back to make sure none of the infected were following him. A few stragglers took some interest, but the sound of falling glass pieces finally being shaken free of it's pane drew them back to the crowd. He was now directly outside of the apartment block, but had to brace himself against the wall to catch his breath. Running with full tactical equipment was not something he liked to do. He didn't notice the character stood less than thirty meters from him, in the center of the street.
Gazing towards the floor as he huffed, he pulled out his radio and spoke into it.
"Recruit, you're clear through the front door. " he stated, quietly and cautiously. "Once you come out, we've got to book it back to the town center. Understood?"

((You're fine, I've had that happen.))

Ray blinked, and peered out the front door, before bolting across the street. The door barely shut by the time the young raccoon reached the sidewalk, panting. He looked about, hoping to find the commander.

((Jesus christ it happened again i swear))

Pushing himself off of the wall, Cyprus inhaled deeply as he walked up to the dazed recruit. Tapping him on the arm, he held out the recruit's rifle for him to take.
"Come on, we've got to get moving." Cyprus huffed. "We've got to get to the fountain for evac as soon as possible."
He quickly radioed in to the rest of his squad, keeping an eye on the crowd of the infected still occupied by the window.
"Squad, agent recovered. We're coming back, but the horde is active and roaming. Keep your eyes open."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray took the rifle, with a nod of thanks. He turned and looked towards the horde, and was surprised when they roared, and started towards the two agents, faster than they were before.

Akim had at this point climbed back onto the slanted roof of a mostly intact house near a market. He layed down on the roof to sleep for a bit, completely visible from the street.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

The infected, spotting Akim sleeping on a roof, seemed to split into two groups. One group of about twenty, crowded beneath the sleeping figure, waiting for him to fall.
The other group moved towards the agents, their speed increasing.

Ray taped Cyprus's shoulder. "Lead the way sir, a-and fast!"

"Alright." Cyprus swallowed, getting ready to run. "Keep close."
Taking off into a sprint, he managed to get past the slowly growing crowd of infected, and slowed down as he cleared them. Grabbing an explosive grenade from his vest, he pulled the pin and threw it into the closest half of the group. When the explosive went off, it floored the majority of the infected and stopped them from flooding into the only open passageway in the street. Looking back to Ray, he gestured for him to follow with haste, before moving off at a decent pace towards a nearby alley.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Rayleonarde on March 19, 2016, 01:15:23 AM
Ray rushed through the hole the grenade made in the horde, and barged through any stragglers that got in his way. He felt himself flagging, due to injuries sustained from the helicopter explosion earlier, but adrenaline kept him at pace with Cyprus.

Turning yet another corner into one last street, the sound of the horde dampened by the several blocks behind them, they were nearing the fountain. Only a couple more streets and they would be back with the rest of the squad.
One or two stray infected still meandered about the market street, but wouldn't be too much of a problem. Cyprus applied a right hook directly to an infected's temple as it wandered in his way, dropping the infected to the road.
"We're close." Cyprus commented, looking at a memorable building from the town square over the terraced shops. "I'll radio ahead, let 'em know we're close."

Walking at a more manageable pace, Cyprus clutched his radio and pulled it a little closer to his mouth.
"Team, we're little more than a mike out. Keep on your toes." he stated. "We'll be back before long."
After an affirmative reply, Cyprus turned back to Ray, nodding his head in the direction they were heading, before picking up the pace a little.
Before long, the pair emerged from an alley into the large town square, and the odd dozen soldiers around the fountain all turned to face them as they approached.
"How long until evac is here?"
"Ten minutes." a soldier replied, stepping forward. "We've managed to secure air evac, and it's heading here now."
"Good." Cyprus nodded. Making a particular hand gesture, he spoke to all of his agents. "Everyone spread out and keep the area secure. Don't leave the town center, but keep the nearby streets clear."

"Shit!" Cyprus hissed, ducking away and moving behind cover as most of his agents did the same. Panting, he grabbed his radio once again.
"HQ, we need fire support. Large BOW has returned and is going to cause havoc for exfil." Cyprus stated, as he prayed that the BOW hadn't taken notice of them yet. "How copy?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

"HQ copies all. We're deploying callsign BROADSWORD to location, ETA two minutes. Hold on until then." After that, all radio communication was jammed, obviously someone didn't want anyone knowing what was going on.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on March 23, 2016, 02:36:43 AM
"God-" he spat, bringing his hand to his temple in frustration. After a few moments, he looked up to the rest of his cowering squad.
"Okay, we've got to stay put for two minutes until the support arrives." Taking a quick glimpse at the wandering BOW, he sighed a little in momentary relief as it meandered aimlessly, looking at the streets around it's feet. "Suggest hiding out until then."

Ray slipped beneath a moving-truck, and waited for reinforcement.

The BOW looked about, and bellowed again.

Suddenly, Cyprus's radio squawked. "Lieutenant? This is BROADSWORD, we're a minute out." A quiet thundering could be heard in the distance, and it was approaching quickly.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on March 23, 2016, 09:46:20 PM
Cyprus was ducking behind a waist-high wall, keeping his head away from view.
"Copy that, BROADSWORD." Cyprus responded, keeping his voice down. "I just hope you've got enough firepower to take down what's effectively a walking house."

"Don't worry, Lieutenant, we're prepared." The rumbling got closer, but eventually stopped.

The beast looked around, bewildered. Suddenly, one side of the monster erupted into flame and gore, as a depleted uranium shell tore into it's body, the roar of tank fire tearing the sky asunder. BROADSWORD rolled onto the main street, the four tanks dumping shell after shell into the creature, until it was nothing more than a smoldering pile of flesh, which the tank platoon then drove over. The platoon commander poked out of the tank, waving. "Heyo!"

Peeking over the wall to check the coast was clear, Cyprus then vaulted over the small wall, adjusting his vest. Slinging his rifle to his back, he called out the rest of his squad before approaching the platoon commander's vehicle. Standing just beside it, he spoke to the commander with relief.
"Thanks for saving our hides. Our last encounter with that thing didn't go in our favor."
Smirking as he observed his relieved soldiers admire the tank platoon, he took a quick headcount and was relieved to find that everyone who should be there, was there. Besides the few agents that they lost in the first BOW encounter, everyone was accounted for.

Catching sight of the somewhat distressed recruit, Cyprus patted on the side of the tank before moving over to him. He hesitated for a second before sitting down next to him.
He watched the soldiers load up equipment for evacuation, and observed as they finally looked relieved. He was silent for a long time before he spoke.
"Not the best first mission for you, huh?" he spoke, frowning almost unnoticeably. "Sorry. We were all surprised, for better for worse. But this wasn't all too unusual."
He watched as several soldiers lifted the intelligence they had secured into one of the vehicles.
"If, uh..." he cleared his throat, looking towards the tiles. "If you don't feel like the BSAA is for you, there's still a chance for you to walk away. Try and at least have some sort of life."

(Away until Monday, but chances are I might be able to respond. Hopefully it won't even affect this.)

Giving him a gentle pat on the shoulder, Cyprus smiled.
"It should. It did for all of us." he gestured to the other agents. "Most of us had nothing, but now we've got each other."
He paused for a second, before snorting at how cheesy his last phrase was. Standing, he held out a hand to help his recruit up.

"Yeah. Chances are we're going to have a few days to recuperate and bury the agents we lost." Cyprus inhaled deeply. "But then it's almost certain we're going to be deployed again."
Agents had started loading into a personnel carrier that had rolled up behind the tank squadron. One small squad had left to recover the dead.
"Regardless, let's get ready to head back." he spoke again. "We've got a few more rough hours of travel ahead of us."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Rayleonarde on April 03, 2016, 10:26:54 AM
Ray nodded, and noticed that the APC was packed full (or more full than what he would've liked) and climbed atop one of the Abrams, his legs dangling from the side of the turret. The commander of said tank shrugged, and climbed back into the tank.

The retrieval squad returned a few minutes later, disheartened and sad. The leader of the squad walked up to Cyprus, and spoke, his breath panging sharply of bile. "There's nothing to retrieve sir, the bodies dissolved right in front of us."

Unknown to the BSAA division, someone was watching, obscured by shadow and dust. He spoke into the radio inlaid in his coat. "They're leaving now, sir. I counted forty when they arrived, thirty-five left. Add four tanks. These guys were clean-up and evac, they've no idea." He turned, the sunlight briefly catching the 'USS' patch on his arm, the silvery-dark material flashing briefly in the sun. "What're your orders?"
They've no idea what they were above, it's not of consequence. How did subject Exaark fare?
"Eliminated, sir. The creature's flesh was no match to depleted uranium shells. Observed: Exaark variant creatures suffer from vulnerable knees, light anti-armor weapons penetrate the strained flesh."
Very astute, Number 4, regroup with the others, and return to the blacksight, prepare cleansing.
The agent nodded, and slipped out the window, and up the side of the building as if he were crawling along the ground, and faded into nothingness, his active camouflage obscuring him.

Frowning, Cyprus shook his head in dismay. "Nothing? Not even tags?"

As the last soldier entered the APC, a few zombies stumbled into view. They groaned, and shuffled towards the APC, but were crushed by one of the tanks. The APC closed it's doors, and started back towards base, followed slowly by the tank platoon. One of the tanks, with Ray sitting atop, waited for Cyprus to mount.

Grabbing the first secure protrusion on the tank's turret he could find, Cyprus hefted himself onto the tank and seated himself at the front of the turret, resting his feet on the top of the tank base. He gave two sharp kicks to the roof of the driver compartment, and within a few seconds the tank had begun to move behind the rest of the platoon.

The drive was long and boring, the town was in the middle of nowhere. Each vehicle kicked up a plume of dust, as they rolled across the plains. The commander of each tank kept their heads poked up out of the copula (is it still a copula, or do they call it something else?).
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on April 04, 2016, 01:12:19 PM
(Yep, still a copula.)
Holding a loose grip on the machine gun atop the tank's turret to stabilize himself, Cyprus looked out over the empty, uninteresting plains. Turning to the commander, he shifted his position a little bit.
"What were HQ's orders for when we return?" he asked, taking a quick glance at the convoy ahead of them. "Have we got something else to do, or do we have a couple days downtime?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray was about to speak, when a tactical nuclear device evaporated a small part of the town, where the Umbrella black-site was. The explosion, albeit impressive, had little to no effect on the agents. HQ, however, was going nuts. "Nuclear detonation! Southwest part of town, a hundred feet underground, what was that!? Lieutenant, respond! Respond dammit!"

The concussion from the explosion rattled the squad, but it didn't have any lasting effect. Ray had turned away just as the nuke detonated, and nearly toppled from the tank.

A few miles opposite the detonation location, the Umbrella Security Service, Group 9, sat in a blacked-out SUV, as Number 6 reported in. "Confirmed, command, the black-site is gone. We're headed back to Phi-77, for debrief and reassignment."

((We'll assume the others, if they return, were not caught in the blast, and escaped (hopefully) without harm.))
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on April 04, 2016, 10:46:45 PM
Snapping himself out of his awe at the cloud of dust and smoke that the detonation had thrown into the air, Cyprus scrambled to grab his radio.
"HQ, half of the town's gone. I think-" he hesitated. "I think we missed something. I'm certain they've just blown a black-site."
Watching for a second as the dust tossed and turned in the sky, he sighed heavily.
"They've covered their tracks. There was absolutely no sign of any opposing presence beside the infected." he continued. "How do you want us to proceed, HQ?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

HQ was silent a moment in thought. "...Get suited up, take someone with you and investigate. Maybe something survived."

Ray, who heard the order, dismounted and headed for the side of the APC, moving to grab the MOPP suits stored in the side compartment.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Cyprus took a quick look towards the town before swallowing and nodding, despite the fact that HQ could not see it.
"Copy that, HQ. We'll move for the town in five."
Hopping off of the tank, he turned back up to the commander.
"We need a vehicle to take us closer, but everyone else stays here. Stay alert, we might need you at any time." he ordered, while moving up to Ray's side and helping him retrieve the suits.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

The APC was quickly emptied, all but one crewman. The crewman remaining sealed the hatch, and waited for the two to enter.

Ray finally released the MOPP suits, and dressed quickly.

Cyprus did the same, changing into his own MOPP suit and loading his weapons once again. Stepping into the back of the APC, he made sure to check his suit over once more before radioing in to HQ once more.
"HQ, we're heading out. We'll give word once we get there, over."

"HQ copies all, but radiation may interfere with radio communication."

Ray stepped into the back of the APC, and closed the ramp behind him. After a few moments, the APC started moving, turning around to enter the blast-zone.

Standing in silence as they approached the town once again, Cyprus kept his weapon at the ready.
"There's not much chance that there will be any contacts, but keep your eyes open." he spoke, adjusting a strap on his mask. "I want to try and make this quick; I don't want to be in a nuclear blast zone any longer than you do."
Grinning, he gave Ray another pat on the shoulder.
"Some first mission, huh?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Rayleonarde on April 07, 2016, 01:40:25 PM
Ray nodded, slowly. "Y-Yes sir. Didn't think I'd have to get a glimpse at Chernobyl."

The APC pulled up to the town's outskirts, and parked. "This is as far as I go, sir! The electronics are freakin' out, so the door might give you some trouble!"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on April 07, 2016, 03:29:37 PM
Pressing the button to open the door, Cyprus rolled his eyes when absolutely nothing happened. Pulling on the emergency release handle, the locks disengaged, allowing him to drop the door with a relatively light kick. After stepping out onto the town's edge, it didn't take long for him to locate an entry point. He slapped hard on the side of the APC, and it accelerated away from them, the door still open. The driver could shut it remotely. Probably.
"Okay, we're going to head in through that alley." he spoke, pointing towards it. "We keep quiet, and we keep alert. We're looking for anything that they might have left behind, or the detonation didn't destroy."

"You never know." Cyprus replied, moving towards said alley. "They might have sent a clean up team."
Settling his mask, he thought for a moment. He shook his head before taking off at a brisk walk.
"Yeah, you're right. Chances are they're confident in their explosives, but still keep an eye open."

Ray nodded, and kept his eyes peeled. After a few minutes, the young raccoon perked up, and spoke. "I think I got something." He made his way towards the burned out husk of the black-site. On the wall was, oddly, the logo of the once-terrifying Umbrella Corporation.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

"What?" the lieutenant mumbled, looking over the logo in disbelief. After a quick scan of what remained of the black site, he turned back to the symbol. "This doesn't make sense. Umbrella collapsed way back when, so what link does it have here?"
After a few more seconds of deep thought, he shook himself out of his stupor and gestured to the site around him.
"We're looking for anything intact, or salvageable. No matter how small it might be, we need it." he ordered. "Not that we'll find anything, but it's worth a shot."

Ray nodded, and slid into the pit that once was the black-site. He began scrounging around, one paw wielding the rifle.

Several minutes of searching passed, Cyprus leaning his rifle against a wall as he dug through rubble to try and find anything of interest. A few pieces of scrap metal here, and some glass there, he couldn't find anything of significance. The search was arduous, and Cyprus had taken a quick breather by propping himself up against a nearby surface as he panted.
"Recruit." He huffed. "You found anything yet?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray grunted in response, and pulled out a VERY radioactive case. It had apparently survived the blast, as it was lodged in the very foundation of the black-site. He held it up, smiling. "I think this is something."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Smirking, Cyprus picked his rifle back up and looked over the case that was being held before him.
"Yeah, for sure." he commented, relieved. "Okay. We've got something. I've been in here way too long to be comfortable."

Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray nodded, and looked down at the case. "We're gonna need some kinda contamination transport, though. We'll cook the others if we bring it on the APC."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

"Alright." Cyprus responded, climbing out of the hole. "We'll get far enough for the radio interference to subside, and we'll radio HQ."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray followed his commander, lugging the case up with him. After a few moments, Ray scrabbled over the edge of the crater. He stood up, and dusted himself off.

Following the same streets and alleys as they had taken coming in, Cyprus led the recruit once again to the edge of the town and just a little further, hoping that radio communication had recovered. Pleased that it had, Cyprus radio-ed in to HQ to tell them the news.
"HQ, we've found a case in an old Umbrella black site. It's highly radioactive." he stated, looking back at the town. "We require appropriately equipped transport to deal with the package. How copy?"

"Standby, Lieutenant. We're dispatching HAZMAT now. They're coming in by helicopter."

Ray sighed, and sat uncomfortably on a burned-out car.

"Copy that, HQ."
Hearing Ray's sigh, Cyprus turned and slung his weapon onto his back. He moved over to the same car, and took his own seat on it's rear.
"You good?" he asked, tightening one of his gloves.

"I hear that." Cyprus agreed, getting onto the radio once again. "We'll be home in less than a few hours. I can't wait."
The dragon spoke into his radio and looking off into the distance to a few black specks.
"BROADSWORD, we're waiting on HAZMAT to extract a radioactive asset. Keep your distance, over."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

"BROADSWORD confirms, Lieutenant. We'll wait for your extract before moving."

A helicopter, dispatched a few minutes prior, started to make it's way to the operations area.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

"Get ready." he patted the recruit's arm. "Remember, we're holding a very dangerous object. Treat it like an explosive, because for all we know, it could be one."
The very distant sound of the helicopter eventually came into earshot, and not long after that a faint approaching speck on the horizon meant that home was close.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

As the helicopter approached, Ray stood, cradling the case like a mother would a babe. When the copter touched down, the young raccoon gingerly made his way to the vehicle, being careful not to trip.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

"Let's load up and go quickly, lads." Cyprus ordered, watching as the HAZMAT team dismounted the helicopter to meet Ray halfway. "I want to sit on an nuclear detonation's remains for as little time as possible."
Helping the team to load up the case into some large shock proof protective case, Cyprus then placed his weapon on a rack at the far end of the personell and cargo area. Turning to Ray, he scratched at his arm through the MOPP suit and shuffled uncomfortably.
"Keep your suit on, we're taking this chopper back, and we're unloading the cargo with HAZMAT once we hit base." he said, gesturing to the chairs. "For now, sit down and strap up."
Grasping his radio, he spoke once more to BROADSWORD.
"BROADSWORD, HAZMAT are leaving momentarially. Once you observe dustoff, return to base as soon as possible. Over."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Ray climbed in, uncomfortably, and sat across from Cyprus. He smiled behind the gasmask, before he began giggling, as the severity of what happened set in. Ray's shock had worn out, and he had stared death in the face, twice, and lived.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on April 28, 2016, 03:57:35 PM
A little confused for a second, Cyprus eventually just grinned himself as he listened to the recruit laughing. At least he'd found some sort of humour in what they'd done.
"HAZMAT, we're strapped in. Move out when ready." he spoke to the men through the radio over the helicopter engine.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Rayleonarde on May 02, 2016, 09:58:57 AM
"Roger that! Hold on to yer butts!" The helicopter started upwards sharply, and began flying towards the main base of operations.  BROADSWORD and the APC transport followed along, but were quickly left in the dust.

Ray's laughs eventually turned into terrified sobs, as he pulled himself in close, arms wrapped around his knees as best he could with the MOPP suit on. They were the good guys, the good guys don't die, so the raccoon thought, yet they lost a handful of guys to a hellish beast that HAPPENED to show up.

Cyprus frowned as he watched the recruit's breakdown, but didn't feel he could do much. This happened fairly often to the new recruits, as the severity of what they were doing set in, and how they never always went home casualty free.
He just leaned back in his chair and looked down at his hands, doing nothing but observing the seams on the MOPP gear he was dressed in.

(It doesn't have to outright kill you, if you don't want it to. It was a relatively small detonation, it just took out a chunk of the town above a black site.  The last thing you did was fall asleep, it could have woken you up and you might have been able to leg it in the opposite direction before you got too high a dose of rads. On the detonation post, this was said:
Quote
((We'll assume the others, if they return, were not caught in the blast, and escaped (hopefully) without harm.))
If you want to keep going and come up with a way to escape the town, you can do so. Don't forget that the timeskip is probably going to happen soon (I hope someone else remembers that).
Not to mention you keeling over from the detonation is a boring way to go considering I was hoping that after the timeskip Cyprus might learn that you're still alive and try to go for revenge because you blew that evac chopper up. Give it a little bit of tension, give us both a little thing to keep playing around with.
But hey, if you want to be dead then it's entirely your choice what you do.

Don't worry about making the mistake, you were left out of the loop. One of us should have updated you on what was happening, so sorry about that.)

"What's the ETA on return?" Cyprus asked the pilot through his radio, hoping for a positive response. He never liked these helicopter trips; it gave them a chance to brood in the wake of losses, and that was never good for morale.

Akim woke up to a loud bang and a flash of light. He ran outside to see a small-ish mushroom cloud rising from the other side of the city.

"Few more minutes, sir! Gotta keep an eye on the grounders." The pilot pointed downwards as he spoke, indicating the APC and tank group.

"That's alright." Cyprus answered, only just catching the whisper over the volume of the helicopter's engines. "It happens. It's good to get it out."
His thoughts fell back to the soldiers he lost against the BOW. Some didn't have anything to lose, but several had families. Children.
There would be a couple of difficult letters to write once he got back.

Rose had seen the large explosion from and luckily had been outside the city when it happened. In fact she knew it was coming and had gotten her baby larvas out of there as fast as she could. Despite being one of the infected, Rose has somehow managed to keep herself from succumbing to the hunger that has bugged her everyday since the virus changed her. She has managed to quell it by eating the rotting corpses of the dead but tries not to kill living people if she can help it.

As she was squirmimg her massive bloated body through the outskirts of the city, one her larva reported that there was a survivor nearby.
"Hmm...maybe they won't shoot this time..." she said hopefully.

Akim, convinced that the stranger did not intend to do harm, sat by the fire.

"Come into the light. I do not have very many resources, but I can share."
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

As the helicopter descended onto the helipad, a bunch of agents in MOPP suits stood nearby, waiting for their hot cargo.

The tank column thundered past Akim's campsite, however one slowed down, picking up the heat from the fire on thermal scope. "Lieutenant? We'vel got a campfire out here, still burning. What're your orders?"
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP
Post by: Cyprus Alpenglow on May 11, 2016, 04:00:25 PM
Prepping the cargo for removal, Cyprus ducked away as he listened to the report. He thought for a few seconds.
"Do not engage. Enough blood has been spilled today, and I don't want to risk firing on possible innocents." he ordered. "Unless you can identify them as mutant threats, leave them be."

The helicopter finally touched down on the helipad and the door opened at an agonizingly slow pace. Before long, however, Cyprus had handed the cargo to several suited agents, and it was promptly whisked away for examination.

Akim, convinced that the stranger did not intend to do harm, sat by the fire.

"Come into the light. I do not have very many resources, but I can share."

Rose was nervous at first but was hopeful. She came into the light and it was obvious she wasn't normal as her eyes looked dead and her exoskeleton had no color to it.
"...I assure you I don't need much. Please don't be alarmed by how I look...and smell." Rose said and she did smell like a rotting corpse.

Akim, only mildly surprised at how the stranger looked as he the smell had given away her current state already, shrugged.

"I don't care, as long as you don't eat me in my sleep," he said, making his best attempt at a jest.

He continued on, "Anyway, what do you need? Also, to make this conversation go a bit smoother, what's your name?"

"Err please don't freak out." Rose says as she takes off her massive dress. Akim was now completely freaking out in his mind. He tried to not let that show too much. He walked over to an area that he tried to make look like a random selection, but was really just a place where the fire was directly between him and Rose, and went about brushing some leaves out of the way and laying down.

"Uhh... I think I'm going to gets some rest... goodnight."

The very fact that you wanted to keep the fire between us kind of upset Rose...but the fact that Akim didn't totally run away made her feel slightly better.
"I am sorry...I wish there was something I could do to make this less weird...but I doubt it would help." Rose made a few clacking noise and her larvae went back into her body. She put her dress back on and made a nest of her own to go sleep.

It had been two years after the BSAA had first arrived at the town at which Akim had used to live. Since then, Akim had walked, hitchhiked, and driven stolen cars until he was able to go off the grid by arriving at a small town of about 20 residents in northern Canada. He now lived in a small house that he had made himself, and made a living off of hunting, and selling whatever meat he collected.

The BSAA, after obtaining the irradiated case, were able to get several locations where black-sites might lay. They also began to develop weapons and fighting vehicles to combat the obviously new BOW's. All-terrain, poly-pedal walkers were researched, along with infantry-carried massive-caliber anti-BOW weapons. The research had only just reached peak efficiency, but wouldn't be completed for another few months.

Ray had gone through specialist training, granting him access to explosives, and the newer technologies. He was returning to the barracks, instruction manuals in paw.

Several new recruits were added to Lieutenant  Cyprus's battlegroup, and was designated "X-Ray". His battle-group was also reassigned, instead of fast-assault infantry; Cyprus now commanded an 'experimental' assault force.
Title: Re: Resident Evil: Operation CLEAN-UP

Laying on his bunk in the barracks, Cyprus turned the page of a book he held in his claws. His rifle lay next to him with a cloth, just freshly cleaned and prepped for their next deployment, whenever and wherever that would be. They were sent out a little less often now; the 'experimental' force was only ever used when a normal infantry squad was insufficient. It meant they got a little more downtime, which he was more than happy with.
His new recruits were just that; new blood. They weren't the best at what they did, but that was the entire point of training and experience. They were his responsibility, and he's make sure he didn't lose them, like he lost the others.

Akim was at home trying to make his radio, which he had taken from a car, pick up anything but static. Giving up, he sat down on a small wooden chair, and picked up a nearby book. He paged through the book, which happened to be a BSAA manual he had looted off a corpse 2 years ago. He wondered if the BSAA knew he was alive.

After a while, Ray had left his barrack to undergo training with the anti-BOW weapon system. The gun had to be set up, much like an AT gun, but fired tungsten rods like a rail-gun. The loudspeakers in and around the base crackled to life. "Attention all Agents, Railer test firing will begin in two minutes. Temporary power outage expected."

One of the other officers approached Cyprus, smiling. "Are you attending the Railer test today sir?"

Closing his book hastily, Cyprus dropped it to the side of his bunk and swung his legs over the edge.
"Of course." he grinned. "It's a big gun, why wouldn't I?"
Slipping his boots on as quickly as he could, he promptly stood up and made his way out of his barrack towards the testing area.

Just as Cyprus neared the test-range, Ray walked up to the gun. He turned,  looked around, and waved at Cyprus.

Akim set down his book. He walked to the radio he had salvaged, and turned it on. He was not quite in the right mind set. His body seemed to be on autopilot as he began sending out SOS signals.

Ray, after receiving the go ahead, began to set up the gun. In a few moments, he was seated behind a large, four-barreled turret. A target popped up at the end of the shooting range, and Ray sighted in. After a few moments, the lights dimmed, and electricity seemed to leap from the four barrels to nearby objects. Then, a loud sound ripped through the air, and the target seemed to vanish.

A BSAA recon patrol, having been near Akim, picked up his SOS, and reported it. "Strider 5-1 here, we've got a civvie SOS, moving to investigate." After a few minutes, the recon crew, in addition to their medical truck, found Akim passed out on the floor, and immediately began loading him in to the truck, Strider-lead reporting the situation. "One civvie, must've been away when the EVAC's came through, we're bringing him to Outpost Frosty now."

Grinning at the destructive potential of the Railer, Cyprus shook his head in amusement as he praised the development team for such a creation. BOW's didn't stand a chance.
Noticing a little bit of hustle near the medical tent, he tapped the arm of a nearby agent who had just come from that direction.
"Hey, what's the activity by the med tent for?" he inquired. "I didn't know we had any teams in the field with the potential to get injured."

The agent shrugged. "Dunno. Maybe recon teams picked up another straggler?"

Ray started to pack the machine up, smiling pleasantly. His ears were ringing, but he was told that it would pass. The sudden burst of electricity heated the air around the device, increasing the air pressure.

Akim regained consciousness. He kept his eyes closed at first, as there wasn't much to be done at his house anyway. The floor felt different then he remebered. He slid his hand down to his waist looking for his gun as he opened his eyes to an unfamiliar scene.

One of the medical personnel watching over Akim noticed his movement. "H-Hey! I think he's coming to!" The medical staff approached, and the senior medical officer spoke  gently. "Easy, friend. You're in the BSAA Outpost Frosty. You were unconscious when we found you."

Akim was panicking in his mind. Was he wanted? What if someone recognized him? However on the outside he was trying his best to seem calm as he sat up and looked around him, trying to locate exits, personell, and his weapons, which he no longer had in his possesion. As he went about this he tried to figure out what he had even done to get into this situation by talking with the medical staff.

"So... how did anyone find me unconscious? I live alone, and nobody visits."

Humming in thought, Cyprus patted the shoulder of the agent as he moved away towards Ray, who had finished packing up the machine. Standing close to Ray and beside the railing to the test range, he leaned onto it with his elbows and interlaced his fingers.
"One hell of a light show." he commented, chuckling.

Akim was torn between two options. He could either beat the life out of this guy, then try to pull off some amazing, super cinematic escape from the compound, or spew some bullsh*t. For now he chose to spew some bull, but got ready to fight if anything went wrong.

"I am very sorry for wasting your time," Akim said to the medical senior "as I am fairly certian that I was sleep walking again. I have a history to do so. When can I get out of here?"

Ray nodded. "Yeah...the pressure change is terrible though." He sighed. "So...think it'll work?"

"Nah. I think Ill be fine. Ill tell you if I change my mind." Akim replied as he exited the tent. "Thanks for the help."

Akim walked out of the tent and took in his surroundings. He found a rock and sat down to think over his next move. He had no perfect plan. He could continue on at his home which seemed to be the easiest idea, but he could easily make another stupid mistake. He could go to an evac center, but that would certainly involve his mutation, and general poor health to be realised. He could go and tell a random BSAA person that he blew up an evac helicopter. Akim quitely laughed at this point. That would be retarded. He sat there thinking for a time.

Magna awoke in his own contained little medical tent. A drip in either arm, stripped of his clothing besides his trousers, to make for easier access to his arms

"Wher- Where am I?" He slurred to a nearby member of the medical team

'You're in a seperate tent at the request of the recon team's officer that found you. You've been out for some time. Severe dehydration and septis.'

"So how did I- Ngghh" He shuddered at the pain in his head as he sat up.

"How did I get here?"

'The recon team found you walking at quite a pace. They tracked you until you gave out'

"I can't be here.. I need to go!" He demanded

'We can't discharge you until you have been cleared, are well and are clear of any disease or infection. We have to wait until our Senior Doctor can give you the all clear'

The medical staff walked off, leaving Magna alone again, leaving him confused and with questions unanswered. He waited

Taking note of the still heavily increased activity over at the medical tent, Cyprus folded his arms.
"I'm gonna' go see what the fuss is about." he spoke, pushing forward from the rail. "Be back in a minute."
Walking at a fairly fast pace over to the tent, he caught notice of two armed agents moving forward to block entry to what appeared to be a civillian being a little adventurous. It didn't matter to him; civvies did it pretty often, and they just had to be pushed back into place.
Pushing open the tent door, he noticed that despite the bustle, no new arrivals were being tended to. He pulled over a nearby medic.
"What's the bustle about? I recognize everyone here, is there a new arrival I haven't seen?"
The medic saluted, before going back to replacing the drip on a nearby patient.
"Sir, we recovered several roamers. One just left, and the other is in the smaller recovery tent just adjacent to us." the medic answered, doing his work perfectly as he spoke. "If you want to check on them, one should be moseying about and the other is still stuck in that tent."
Cyprus nodded, patting the medic on the back to thank him for his assistance. He left the tent and immediately took a right, striding past the guards and civillian, only sparing a quick nod to the closest guard as he was ushered in.

"Can you get these drips out my arms? I really need to be going"

He grimaced as he tried to sit up, obviously from some kind of pain, trying to sit up in a hurry. In a slightly panicked tone he said:

While a doctor prepared a needle to take some blood for testing, another doctor began talking to Magna.

"When you were found you were severely dehydrated, you had several large open wounds up your left leg and you were suffering from metabolic acidosis. Have you had any contact with chemicals recently?"

'I siphoned the water from a cars water tank and it tasted a little plasticky, but that's the last thing I drank'

"Well, that was silly. Didn't consider the antifreeze in the water? You're lucky your kidneys are still functioning and you're still alive. You've lost a lot of weight from the acidosis burning your fat reserves, but you're on the mend. You'll be offered something to eat at lunch and provided you are clear of all our infection tests and general wellbeing you will be moved to a ward. A senior officer will be round later to talk to you about your release, your belongings and where you go from here, or if you go. Do you have any questions?"

the other doctor pushed a needle into Magna's arm. He growled and said

'Do you have anyone that knows how to use a needle?'

The doctors laughed and moved out of the room after finishing up taking the blood samples. The dragon was still standing next to the door win his arms folded

Two armed agents stood nearby the Railer, idly chatting. One was obviously a marksman, due to the rifle he carried, and the other was his spotter. The marksman spoke with a slight smile in his voice. "Shooting HVT's in a crowd's kinda like playin' 'Where's Waldo', 'cept poor Wally doesn't know he's about to get Waldo'd." They chuckled, before the spotter turned to Akim, and spoke quickly, startled by Akim's sudden presence. "H-Hey! What're you doin' down here, civvie? Struggling in the birdsnest of IV lines and ECG cables a glance was cast toward the dragon. Magna questioned him;

The team-leaders were already talking the information over.

"...But, we don't have enough man-power to cover an area that large."
"We aren't looking to wage war, we're just removing the black-site. It's supposed to be near the Great Pyramids." The general, who was simply sitting silently nearby, nodded at Cyprus as he entered.
