I live in the North of London and i attend them London Furmeets at Jamies Bar every 3 weeks.

I was born in Newcastle, but moved to Scotland over 10 years ago for my dad's work. There seems to be NILL furries here (and the ones who know about the fandom thinks it's a sick sexual thing) so I'll be gladly moving back to Newcastle in a few more years. :3

there's something that may be of use to you. the first thing to do when you wanna find furs is to try to locate some kind of facebook group, cause lots of stuff gets organised there.

No we don't, we've got over a thousand or so furries in the United Kingdom but most of them congregate either on Twitter or UKFurs Forum. Weekly meets across the country, usually on a Saturday, with major meets once a month in the big cities like Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Swansea and London. TWO conventions in Great Britain, ConFuzzled in Hinckley at the end of May and ScotiaCon up in Scotland, plus EuroFurence in Germany in August too. London Summer and Winter party is usually a knockout crowd of 200+ while Manchester MAIN meet (June and November) can reach nearly 150 attendee's.
So yeah, there's alot more happening with furries in the country than what you see on THIS forum and I aim to spread the word about what's going on to those who don't know of what could be on their doorstep.
And before you say/ask: You do not need a fursuit or anything to go to any meet or convention, you can go dressed as a normal person and still be welcomed. Heck you can even cycle to a meet if it's within cycling distance, though nobody would say 32 miles between Liverpool and Manchester is cycling distance but I still manage it because I'm crazy!

The thorn of Scots: Speaking entirely articulately and being told that you have an English accent while in Scotland...Then leaving Scotland for another country and hearing constantly how you have such a strong Scottish accent.
...Also having to teach your boyfriend Scot's dialect so he'll understand what the heck is going on if he ever visits Scotland, so far he understands "dinnae" "cannae" and "wa'er" ;)

No one in my area seems to know anything about Furries except those who are Furries... I suppose in a way that could be a good thing since there isn't such a negative backlash when you tell people as there seems to be in places like the US. It just gets a bit lonely sometimes.

It's not a fantastic fursuit but I guess it's a start... To be honest, it's kinda like one of those Disneyland-character-mascot ones. It's essentially a modified Pudsey Bear costume X3

Hello, all. I'm from the UK too - I used to live in Reading, and then I moved to Portsmouth, which is where I've been for the last 5-6 years or so.
There's a few furs around here, but I keep missing out on meeting up due to schedule conflicts, haha.
I used to go to a lot of Londonfur meets, but money and work got in the way.

Um... you do know that UKfur has a whole sub-section for the Hantsfurs, which sort of encompasses most of the central south-coast region? There are semi-monthly meets around the region, and regular get-togethers in Portsmouth.
There used to be a lot more in Southampton, but the chap who organized them all move away and also had job-related priorities. I organized one meet, but I haven't had time or money to do another.
There are literally dozens if not more regional events all over the UK, every month, and contact 'networks' for the furs in various regions on the UK Fur forums. Not just London meets.

Uhh... My grandparents live in SW area of England. I've been to theirs plenty of times over the past 16 years of my life to know that's the most calm area I know of. I've been to the SE, S, NE and I know plenty of people in the northern areas to get the just of things. The SW is actually the most calm I've been to.

i think ive only ever been to wails for a day and that was camping and the weather was well ii raind and didnt go above 5 degrees the whole day so we spent the night their and left the next day :/

Fans of any club generally are, I'm not a football fan and I got caught up in crowds so many times whilst travelling, got caught up in arguments, got caught up in fights, been pushed around, been insulted, had drink thrown over me, got smacked in the chest... they genuinely make me scared to travel, I don't do anything at all, I just stay quiet and try to get from point a to point b. Lovely people. Man City 'til I die.

Hmm. I kinda see when you're coming from. There are a few sports which make me go. Erg. But never made me scared to travel. However, I'm 13 and one time at a city game where we won. Some random fan picked me up and started singing bleu moon. Pretty impressive as I'm rather big but I s#@$ myself! I was scared at the time but I keep laughing about I now.

Well my permanent base is in Liverpool but I do love to travel, and can currently be also found in Astley (Wigan) at least once or twice a week; I was there over the weekend and then in Stockport. You could say that I'm a regional traveller, but with a bicycle instead of a tardis.

There used to be no furs in Somerset when I lived down there! I remember when BristolFurs was about 5-10 furries in The Knights' Templar. I haven't been since moving up North two years ago; but goodness, you all grew the moment I left! XP

Luckily I can pretty feasibly get a ~2 hour bus to Newcastle, but Ive been waiting till I’m 16 to properly engage with the groups, since that seen to be, understandably, the common minimum for meets and things
