Post by: Catfish on August 21, 2010, 08:45:25 PM
Here's a few sketches/linearts and other things  ^_^

http://h.imagehost.org/0840/daina22_copy.jpg - A gift for a truly kind hearted person.

http://j.imagehost.org/0947/por_wnanie.jpg - That's a remake of the Panzer Fox, originally created by SamuraiBlake from dA (i had his permission to do this  )

http://j.imagehost.org/0247/red_leo.jpg - Commie leopard.

http://h.imagehost.org/0506/Roberto.jpg -  Small gift for my rebel friend  :D Character belongs to SteinWill from dA/fa.

http://h.imagehost.org/0715/dak.jpg I think - WY Corp is always open for gifted (and of course evil ) characters  :P

http://j.imagehost.org/0042/gepar2.jpg - Random cheetah sorcerer or something like that.

Thank you all for your kind words, i truly appreciate them  :*

It's a shame you don't draw anymore, your work is good!

Yeah i think it's a shame too  :/  Anyway it takes to much time for me to do something. I was a little bit scared when i realized how much time i've wasted sitting and drawing traditional realism. Next i tried to draw digital anthro but i ended quickly.

It's a very small birthday gift for a very nice person. I did this in hurry and it's kinda weird  :S

Have you ever drawn panthers or Siberian tigers?

Only in traditional realism style  :S But i think i'm capable of drawing digital anthro panther or sib tiger too ^_^

Snow Panther (http://i.imagehost.org/0549/Detail_Snow_Leo_by_Hassanah.jpg)
Other Cats (http://j.imagehost.org/0167/Big_Cats_by_Hassanah.jpg)

Sorry for the poor quality but i don't have a scanner, only old 6.0 pix camera XD

Still looks good to me o.o, for a few moments with the Snow Panther i thought that was an infrared camera photograph.

Work in progress for Hijiku  ^_^
I decided to draw Hijiku's fursona instead of wasting time playing video games or watching tv  :P
I'm not sure but he'll be something like a "Hijiku of Arabia" XD

Wow... Your lineart is really clean... I love the tank in the background (though i love any kinda artwork that includes awesome technical drawings of vehicles and machinery  ;)  )

Anyway, cant wait to see the finished piece...

Thank you very much, Asia and Kitt !  ^_^

It's a fictional version of british MK V heavy tank from Great War times. Yeah i love sketches/arts with all kind of weird machinery too  ^_^
Title: Re: Catfish's linearts
Post by: x on September 07, 2010, 05:41:30 PM
Incredible detailing. I would never be able to draw such a good tank.

Only thing I could suggest is perhaps making the ink lines on the lion's face and mane thicker in places, so it isn't just a thin, uniform line. But still you did a great job.  ;)
Title: Re: Catfish's linearts

The details around the eyes are always good o.o. Do you have any canine drawings?

Thank you very much !  ^_^

No, i don't have any canine drawings  :S Only that funny Panzer Fox lineart, he's probably the only canine i drew so far XD
Few times i was trying to draw a wolf with pencil but nothing good camed out  :/

Lioness (http://b.imagehost.org/0612/Lioness_head_by_Hassanah.jpg)

WH Soldier (http://b.imagehost.org/0913/WH_Soldier_by_Hassanah.jpg) - even with a photo as a reference it was a NIGHTMARE for me to draw him  :S

Awesome, as every your pencil work is a thing of beauty... That Lioness is incredibly lifelike  :P

And as for the solider? Well I give you a round of applause for that, drawing people, especially faces with graphite I find incredibly hard, yet you have pulled it off with style!  :)

100 % truth, Kitt !  ^_^  I'm not planning to draw humans anymore !

http://d.imagehost.org/0930/leopard2_copy.jpg  i've finally finished that weird leopard lineart. I still have two other works to finish but i don't even know how to start XD

I haven't been here for a long time :/ I had an accident in my work place and i was in hospital for nearly month.
Now i will have some more free time to rest at home.

JAGGSKY (http://d.imagehost.org/0110/jaggsky_copy.jpg) - I really wanted to finish this one, becouse the first sketch was horrible  -> SKETCH (http://b.imagehost.org/0750/sketch.jpg)

How do you make the lines so clean? What do you use?

As for the picture itself, again really well done, though the background is obviously rough and unfinished. The subject itself is great.

Thank you very much ! Pirates are always awesome !

How do you make the lines so clean? What do you use?

I'm a very lazy person and i like to use "pen tool"  ( or "path tool" becouse i'm using GIMP ) With this you'll be able to "draw" clean nice lines.
I think linearts with clean, smooth lines are easier to color (it's only my opinion  :P )

For example you can turn a very primitive doodle into something better -> LINK (http://d.imagehost.org/0820/gjd.jpg)

I thought so. I've never really taken to that tool because I can't draw a nice smooth line to save my life. It's always jaggedy because my hand shakes about quite a bit.

I think drawing traditional things helped me alot with this  :D Anyway i'm using pen tool to finish my sketches so it's like 50% pen tool and 50% my hand XD

... Did you do one half of the face and flip it 180 degrees o.o?...

You're correct, White. Eyes, nose, muzzle, lips and few other elements are not flipped, but the rest is.
I'm using such dirty tricks when i want to finish something very quickly  :P

Yeah but i can't use it everywhere. It works fine for frontal view headshots .  If digital art offers me such methods i won't hesitate to use them  :P

I really want to have my own style, so i'm still trying to learn some basics by drawing sketches/linearts (traditional realism works are nothing to be proud of becouse everyone can draw them )
Year ago a friend told me that i should try to post some works on FA, and after doing that i realized they're just  worthless  ^_^
After joining TFF i've started drawing again, i'm drawing very rarely but anyway it gives me a lot of fun and i think that's the most importand thing !

Worst thing is that i quit from my job last week and right now it will be extremely hard for me to find something else to do  :'( Always trying to be optimist but sometimes i really hate my life  ;)

Beautiful... Not really any other word for it. Her expression is so sad and contemplative, and the background is really great, for some reason I love the sun and sky. Also the ship is incredibly detailed in the background, and as always the lineart is so clean...

As for the life problems, hang in there buddy. Try to be optimistic. I'm vouchin' for ya man  :)

I missed seeing your art, especially the animated stuff you did  :3

Both of those look really good as always, your WW2 related art was always awesome  :) And correct me if I'm mistaken, but is the tank in the full-sized sketch a KV-2?  :P Shame you couldn't finish the full thing, but it looks really great anyway  ^_^

Yes, you're correct Kitt. Actually it's a  Beutepanzer taken back into soviet service (Panzerkampfwagen KV2 754(r) ), it's just a sketch so not all of the details are visible/present on the picture.

Fair enough, I hadn't heard of this particular tank designation before... Though that explains the German style cupola hatch and of course the Germans used a lot of captured Russian equipment... You got me reading up on captured Russian KV tanks now  :P   Both a great drawing and an interesting (well I find it interesting  X3  )  bit of history   :)

Your art is really cool and stylish. I lovr the retro, 80s vibe. Also the last one reminds me of old-school D&D rule book art, which is a style I like.

Thank you :3 I'm a huge fan of such 80s themed stuff. You're right about the last one - I wanted to draw it in the style similar to the old game manuals.
