Title: The Labyrinth
Post by: Queen_of_Spades on October 24, 2021, 10:16:09 PM
You wake up in a padded room with 2 other people and are told you are going to take part in a game, the object of the game; escape the
labyrinth.
Rules:
1.) Three people per team (I will be in team 1, the next 2 posters will also be in team 1, the 4th 5th and 6th are in team 2, so on so forth.)
2.) There is no reward for escaping as this is a RP, not an actual game.
Let the game begin.

"Urrgh, where am I?" As Spade looked around she quickly realized that she didn't know where she was. She stood up and saw that she wasn't alone...

Sitting up near a corner was a tiger with a standard fur pattern, holding his head. "Ugh... now where the hell am I?" He looked over at Spade. "And who the hell are you? I don't remember you being on my ship."

"Why are you two here? What the sithspit am I doing here?" Asked a Mandalorian Fox as she got up rubbing the back of her neck as she put her helmet on.

"Calm down both of you, you're not in any danger... at least I don't think you are." Looking around the room I notice 2 things, a door and a keypad.

"That isn't exactly comforting," the Tiger growled. He noticed the keypad. "Shot in the dark - maybe the keypad has an easy code to open the door?"

"And how would you know?" the Mandalorian fox asked smashing her fist into the wall trying to see if they had to smash their way out "I'm perfectly calm, unless you think someone wondering where they are is not being calm." She finished walking over to the keypad "This seems oddly primitive she said typing in a few numbers followed by a error like beep.

Something about this keypad seemed to just... make sense to her. I rapidly punch in a sequence of numbers before a ding was heard and the door swung open. That wasn't the only thing that happened though, as soon as the door opened and revealed a grassy field a hissing filled the air as yellow gas started to drop from the ceiling. "Oh no, we need to get out now!" she said before running through the doorway.

"Damn it to hell...!" the Tiger cursed as he dashed out the door. "Could you maybe try NOT getting us killed?!"

"I knew i should have gotten the seal version of this suit." Kelsey grumbled, running out and then pulling out a blaster pistol and shooting into the room to see if the gas was explosive, which althoguh a dangerous idea, would at least prevent it from leaking out.

Unfortunately for Kelsey, as she tried to activate her blaster pistol, nothing happened.
"Come on! Get out here!" Spade yelled as the yellow gas continued to fill the room...

"What is there something wrong with standing next to this odd structure?" Kelsy asked leaning against the outside wall of the room they had been in. "What the heck is up with this place why does my blaster not work? Is there some sort of damper field or something here?"
Title: Re: The Labyrinth

"I'm more interested in how the hell we got here," the Tiger asked. "And how the hell we can leave."

Spade didn't respond to them as she had found something rather interesting, it a sign and written on it in bold letters were the words:

                                                                      WELCOME TO THE LABYRINTH CHALLENGERS
                                                                                FIRST ZONE: GRASSY PLAINS.

Upon reading the sign 3 envelopes dropped from seemingly thin air, each envelope had a name on it, one of which was her name. When she tried to open the other 2 no amount of force could open it so she just called the other's and looked at her envelope. Inside was a seemingly limitless space, one much to big to fit the proportions of the envelope. Inside this space there were multiple items including: Rations, water bottles, a water purifier, a sleeping bag, a tent, and finally an odd glowing crystal.
"What the heck?"

"The hell is this...?" the tiger grumbled as he snatched out of the air the envelope with the name "Travis" on it. He examined the envelope with a frown. "The hell am I supposed to do with this?" he asked.

"This place seems safe enough." She looked up and saw... nothing: just an infinite space leading up into the sky, no sun, no moon, no stars. "Uhh, how is there light without a sun?"
Suddenly, without warning, 3 lions came out of the nearby tall grass and charged at them. They split up and each went for a different target.
"I spoke too soon." She reached into the envelope again and hoped for a weapon. She pulled out a Khopesh that seemed to be heated to red hot temperature. After briefly examining the blade, she turned and swiftly executed the lion attacking her with a few well aimed slices.

Mature Lion Defeated

"Uhh... Ok?"

When the second lion attacked Travis, he instinctively reached into his envelope and pulled out a Katana. Dodging the first attack, he drew it and immediately sliced across the Lion's side. The lion roared in pain, and Travis was quick to jump on the attack, putting the Lion down before it could attack again.

Kelsey jumped ontop of the lion, as it charged towards her, riding on it's back as it thrashed around trying to throw her off, "WHOA BOY!" She said trying to calm the thing down as it continued to thrash around....

Travis would see a message appear in his vision.
Mature Lion Defeated
50 EXP Awarded
As Kelsey rode the lion it quickly calmed down and laid down, this is when Kelsey also saw a message
Mature Lion Tamed
25 EXP Awarded
After seeing the others had taken care of the lions, Spade sat down and took out a water bottle to drink.

"What the %7!! was that?" Kelsy asked letting her lion sit down as she got off and took off her helmet rubbing her sleeve on the visor, she then reached into the envelope and pulled out a big piece of meat and fed it to her tamed lion, patting it on the head gently.

"All I'm concerned about is where the hell do we go?"
As if to answer her question a fourth envelope appears in front of and when she opens it it contains the rules of the Labyrinth.

Rule 1: No harming your allies
Rule 2: No harming NPCs
The object of the Labyrinth is to complete the objectives within each zone and receive the zone's blessing.
NPCs may inhibit or help your progress.
Each contestant has 2 skills which must be discovered for themselves.
"Is this some kind of game show?"

Kelsey would see another popup in her vision stating:

"Well first we have to get out. Any idea as to the nature of our first objective?"
Almost as if in response to Spade's question a popup appeared which they could all see:

Objective 1: Locate the Fountain of Wisdom

"Guess that answers that, but what the heck is a fountain of wisdom?"

(Wooo the lone member of the second team!)

A lone white moth slowly surveyed the room he had found himself in, having little recollection of ever entering it. His wings wrapped around himself almost akin to a cloak. Gently he revealed a small staff out from underneath his wings. A crystal was mounted on the end surrounded by two arches which emitted a soft light. With a flick, the staff grew to be his own height, and with a twirl a small mote of light flew from the crystal and slowly drifted around the room. The moth glared at the staff, shaking it for a moment before sighing. It seemed as if his powers here were sapped. He'd have to make due with simple cantrips.

Unknown to him at the time were the existence of the other three involuntary contestants. He was currently the only member of the second team, and thus did not begin in the same room.

The first thing that the moth set out to do was to find an exit of any kind with the assistance of the light. A door, a hatch, a window, anything.

(Not for long!)
He seemed to materialize from the very floor, well dressed and soaked to the bone. His attire looked like something you’d see from a pirate movie, save for it being tattered, worn, and wet through-out. He sat up with a gasp, spluttering.

The raccoon peered around in a confused half-stupor. He grit his yellowed teeth as he stood. “What manner o’ sorcery be this?” He blinked a few times. “Thrown o’er me own bulwark, an’ now trapped in some kind o’ brig.” The raccoon noticed the moth, and adjusted his coat to reveal the brace of pistols across his chest. “An’ nary alone, t’boot. ‘Hoy, lampbug. What say ye o’ this…predicament?”

Spade chose a direction and started walking that way, motioning for the others to follow.

The Moth would find not one but two doors, both with a sign above them, one sign had a rusted iron inscription of an erupting volcano, the other had a silver inscription of what looked like waves on an ocean. The message was clear, choose one.

(Full team!)

The moth turned around, the light swinging around him to better see the two newcomers. He looked at the pistols on the racoon's chest, before speaking carefully, "I'm not sure exactly," the light then shifted to better highlight the timber wolf, "but it seems as if something has gathered us here." The moth gestured to the two doors, "Given that we have two exits, this does not seem like a typical prison either."

"I would advise that we pick one door and remain as a single unit. If we are to be a team, however, we should begin with introductions. I am Trizzick, a seer of my people. My powers here seem limited however..." The light returned to the moth's staff.

The pirate planted hi paws on his hips, puffing up his chest. “Aye, introductions are in order. Blackburn be I, Captain o’ the ‘Scarlet Pride’.  Or…I was. ‘Til me treacherous crew tossed me o’erboard, an’ I awoke in this cell with ye landlubbers.” He drew a pistol, flipped it in his paw and handed it to Malcom. “Now, mind me shot and powder, t’is loaded and true t’aim. I must inquire, however. Have either of ye seen me cutlass? I fear it fell free on my descent.” He searched the room, until he came upon the embossed doors.
“I know not how ye think, friends. But in me own time about, I’ve found the sea t’be a kinder mistress then the ah…” He motioned to the inscription of the volcano.

Shortly after entering the tall grass the surrounds the strange structure that they came from, a young, maybe 18-year-old, anthro fox came running towards the group, her clothes were in tatters, and she was suffering from multiple wounds all over her body, she said 2 words before collapsing in front of them; "Help me..."
Spade immediately rushed to her side and instinctively reached into her envelope and produced medical supplies which she used to patch the fox up. Afterwords, she saw a popup in her vision.

Skill discovered: First Aid

The group wouldn't have time to discuss which door to go through because a hissing sound filled the room as a yellow gas started to come down from the ceiling.

"Hm. A shame that none of us seem to retain any abilities," Trizzick mused. "I don't believe we have any tools to harvest metal, if that were to be the plan." He then looked up at the gas, quickly pointing at it with his staff, "WELL... I will quickly cast my vote for the ocean door. That's at least two of us with a majority. Let's leave shall we?" With that, the moth quickly fluttered his way to the door, then attempted to open it and hold the door open for the other two.

Travis would have done the same thing, but something about this seemed... off. What happened to this person? Why was she so severely injured? As if reflexivly Kelsey pulled out a blaster pistol  and shot at the attacking hyena's with surprizing speed and accuracy, one hyena managed to get close and got it's jaw around her arm holidng the blaster, using her other arm she used her wrist mounted gauntlet to  spray some sort of liquid on the hyena attached to her other wrist, the creature let go and reeled back just as Kelsey lit the stream of liquid on fire which engulfed the creature, it fell to the ground burning alive, the Mandalorian fox let out a sigh, returning to the injured young woman.

Well this was an interesting three-way attempt at opening a single door, although perhaps justified given the looming threat of deadly gas. First Trizzick tried to hold the door open for the other two, only to have Blackburn attempt to kick the door open, and then finally Malcom headbutting the door.

Trizzick had already dodged out of the way when Blackburn kicked the door, quickly following behind Malcom when he cracked the door open with his skull.

"How chaotic," the Moth mumbled, looking around. "Well, either we're outside and free or this is an illusion. I sincerely doubt our captors would let us go just because we selected the correct door once."

He looked back at the exit they had just come from, seeing if they were kept inside a building, or if this door seemingly connected to no other structure.

Blackburn squirmed from Malcom’s grasp and straightened his coat. “T’is a fine predicament we find ourselves. Stranded ‘pon strange waters, nary a map nor ration a’twixed us. I’ve me flintlocks and shot t’spare, but if me powder be damp, then me brace serves no purpose. ‘Least ‘til the powder dries.” He turned away from the beach-head, looking inland. “S’pose cunning and speed’ll serve us for vittles. Though I’ve not a light on my person.”

Travis dodged one of the hyenas and quickly brought his blade down on it, taking it's head off. Should have known, he thought to himself. Whenever someone shows up injured like this, there's usually a reason, and most of the time, the attacker would still be in the area.

As soon as he saw this he suddenly got a feeling of power welling up inside of him. Kelsey got the same notification and feeling. Meanwhile Spade was struggling with the other hyena. As the hyena kept pressing down on her khopesh. She threw a punch directly at the hyena's left eye. The hyena yelped and leapt off of her, taking the initiative she jumped up and swung down at the hyena as hard as she could, lodging the khopesh deep into the hyena's side killing it within seconds. She turned to the others and grinned before collapsing in exhaustion.

"It appears we're in much more danger than I first anticipated," Trizzick said, staring at where the door once was. "We may be the playthings of some greater unknown." The Moth then pointed at the golden crabs with his staff, "Given that our captors have already tried to kill us, I would assume that the crabs over there are not friendly. I recommend we keep our distance." He nodded towards Blackburn, "Given that my powers were tampered with, I suspect that your guns were too."
Title: Re: The Labyrinth

Blackburn sneered at the large gilded crustaceans. Without a word, he drew the first of his pistol pairs, took aim and pulled the triggers. He was rewarded only with a damp ‘plak’, as hammers met the wet powder. With a dissatisfied grunt, the pirate holstered the pistols, only to draw the next pair. Again, he was awarded an ignominious slap of useless gunpowder. Stubborn as he was, Blackburn drew upon his last pair of pistols, trying them again. When no thunderous clash met his efforts, the raccoon swore loudly.
“Me blade was confiscated, as it were, by me treacherous crew. Patience would see me powder dried, but t’would seem these glimmering beasts seek to make a meal of us.” Blackburn gestured at the crabs, looking a little worried at their stature. “I wager the two of ye don’t have a spare blade a’tween ye?”

The other crabs also calmly walked up to Trizzick and Blackburn holding out small boxes of their own.

"I cannot believe that your first instinct upon seeing another creature is to choose violence," Trizzick said, irritated. "I said I assumed they were dangerous, and to keep our distance. Not to attack them unprovoked." He sighed, "I suppose knowing that these creatures are invulnerable is valuable information, although alarming in of itself. We may as well take the boxes, I don't think 'no' is an answer here with their power and the lack of ours."

The Moth took the box, then started examining it for anything possibly dangerous. Then, once satisfied that the box wasn't rigged with some kind of trap, slowly opened it whilst keeping it away from his face at arm's length, unless he had indeed spotted something suspicious.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN INSUFFICENT POWER!" Kelsey Shouted stomping her feet on the ground, shooting the ground with both of her pistols then using her jet pack to scorch the ground with the flames, making any attempt to break something, "WHOSE THE ADMIN HERE I WANT TO KNOW!!"

Blackburn, with box in paws, could only watch as the pistol buried itself slightly into the soft sand. “Well, I suppose the powder’s ruined now.” He used a boot to dig the gun out, but returned his attention to the box. It seemed of a simple make, with nary a trap set within. Shrugging, the pirate opened the box, throwing the lid wide. “I must apologize for the hostilities. Yon beasts bear great resemblance to the aurucrabs of the Lesser Cantuk Islands. Lost many a body to them back in me rum-running days.”
